The Original Pack
During the story about the origin of the first vampires, it is mentioned that before the discovery of America, werewolves inhabited continent, possibly related to the first werewolves, because not mentioned that they were in theย Old World.
The Original Pack is like the Original Family of Werewolves, and the counterpart ofย the Old Ones also known as the Original Vampires. Werewolves are part of the oldest species on the planet
Theย Original Packย (also known as the Original Family of Werewolves) are part of the very first humans that were cavemen except during theย full moon. They are a supernatural species of humans that can shapeshift into wolf-like creatures, or wolves during full moon. The origin of theย werewolfย race remains a mystery, but these werewolves are part of the evolution of early humans. Werewolves were part of the prehistory of humans during the Stone Age; the origin of the Homo genus is commonly associated with the Stone Age (3.4 million BCE, until 4500 BCE). There was a High Wolf Council that has the task of investigating the supernatural events that occurred in the area, to fight against evil (just like theย Vitale Society) and to protect their own kind. Theyโre different from regular werewolves. They can stop the transformation, if they needed. These werewolves can learn to change when the moon, although itโs difficult. The original werewolves are more civilized and reasonable, compared to infected werewolves (Syrie thinks the normal werewolves were created with a mystical virus).
Werewolves
Werewolvesย (also calledย Lycanthropes) are a near-extinct supernatural species of individuals which unwillingly transform into fearsome, and extremely hostile wolves duringย full moons. Even in their human form, all werewolves do possess superhuman physical prowess. Werewolves are the most dangerous enemies ofย vampires because a bite from a werewolf can kill a vampire. Werewolves are designed to kill vampires on sight in their wolf form. Though they still hunt human prey when there are no vampires to kill.Not much is known about the history of werewolves except that they existed before vampires were created over 1,000 years ago. Who created them, how they were created, when exactly they were created and the reason for their creation is currently unknown but since they call their supernatural condition a curse, it may very well be a magical curse placed on the original members of their species by witches. However, if this is the case, it has yet to be proven. Werewolves actively populated the 'New World' during the early Middle Ages as Viking invasions began in Europe. Most, if not all, of the land's inhabitants were werewolves and they lived along side one another in villages. They also lived alongside humans and, to protect their loved ones, they made sure that they had access to natural means of protection for them. One of the most notable locations of a werewolf village was the location ofย Mystic Falls. Beneath the area was a series ofย tunnelsย thatย provided protection for the humans when the werewolves turned on the full moon. One clear rule of the village was that the humans were forbidden from being with the wolves when they turned.
A notable event in the history of the werewolves comes with the arrival of inhabitants of the 'Old World' where a plague had been devastating the population. The newcomers includedย Mikael, his wifeย Esther, and Esther's witch mentor and friend,ย Ayana. Having lost their child in Europe, Mikael and Esther wanted to be able to raise a family free from illness and Ayana had led them to the New World where they could live in peace. The villagers accepted the new family and they became an integral part of of the village life with Ayana become the local healer and contact with the spirits. Mikael and Esther finally built a family, giving birth to five sons and a daughter:ย Elijah,ย Finn,ย Niklaus,Kol,ย Rebekahย andย Henrik. However, when Henrik and Niklaus broke the rule one night and went to see the wolves turn, Henrik was killed by the turned wolves. Determined to not lose anymore family but not wanting to run anymore, Mikael and Esther used aย forbiddenย ritualย to turn their children and Mikael himself into indestructible beings with stronger and more attuned reflexes than the werewolves, a race that would later be know as theย vampires. However, the newly-turned family's lust for blood led them to shatter the peace of their village, feeding on the innocent inhabitants of the town. When Niklaus made his first human kill, Esther's darkest secret came to light: Niklaus was not Mikael's son but the son of one of the werewolf villagers. Killing a human activated his werewolf gene and he turned into a vampire/werewolfย hybrid. Furious at his wife's betrayal, Mikael slaughtered her lover and half of the remaining villagers, igniting the war that had since lasted between vampires and werewolves.
After the slaughter and their mother's death at Niklaus hands, the Original family scattered and begun traveling the Old and New Worlds, turning other people into vampires. The war between vampires and werewolves came to a head when vampires discovered that a bite from a werewolf could kill them, and therefore set aboutย massacring the entire werewolf race. The werewolves were driven to near-extinction by the massacres and later turned vampires even began to believe that werewolves were a mere myth.
In reality, werewolves had survived and reorganized themselves into packs to help one another evade the vampires and also help each other through their very painful transformations.

Syrie was born a few months after Kol,they grew up with one another, he knew what she was but at the time he was still human. For many years they were the best of friends and attached at the hip in a way. She was his puppy and would always be, you could say she imprinted on him though she would never mention that. They remained close through their teens and then when they were about 20 That was when Nik and his younger brother Henrik were watching some of the wolves turn and Henrik was killed. That's when they found out about Nik,he was part wolf which meant that Ester was unfaithful. He vowed revenge on the wolves but first they needed to protect the family and they created the Original vampires. Kol warned her of what was to come and wanted to protect her so he told her to hide, she did and that is the only way she survived. She lost her entire village and family but she still had Kol and apparently she was Nik's half sister, but it was no longer safe for her to be around them after all, everyone of her kind was thought to be dead. She left and stayed hidden for hundreds of years. After she heard about Mikael and everything she decided it was time to reappear and make herself known once more. She had many things she wanted to do, she knew she had to find Kol and Nik again and she also knew that she needed to rebuild her once noble pack. She did the first part and was quickly side tracked from making a pack by Kol, in fact seeing him again the feelings between the two exploded and once again they were attached at the hip but this time it was different, they both openly admitted to the feelings for one another but there was someone else. The two were 'unofficial' for a while until Bekah and Syrie talked him into telling the other one. Kol admitted to the other one that there was someone else, and then things were official. But she would always be his little wolf and he would be her big bad vampire.
