Vision

 Part 1: The Realisation

It was late and the rain was pouring down around her as Alex ran onto the porch, her hair slick to her face and her clothes soaked through. Grabbing the towel from besides the door she rubbed it over her head and face to dry off some of the water as it dribbled down her face. Night had fallen as she walked through the room to turn on the small light at the far side, scrubbing her hair with the towel Alex headed to finally get something to fill her stomach.

Having been hungry all day finally having something made the young woman sleepy, barely being able to keep her eyes open Alex felt the tingle between her eyes and knew what was coming. Taking a seat before she fell, her eyes rolled back and her body went limp. A vision taking control.

Just like any other time it started as if walking through a mist, as she stepped forward the fog started to clear and she was once again on a different planet. Having visited here many times in her visions before she kind of knew how things played out. Around the corner she could hear the blasters, the whooshing of a light sword as she called it not knowing its true name. Other times she had tried to leave this place but she was always brought back in time to see them running round the corner.

The men in armoured suits chasing a single man in a cloak, the light sword swinging around and diverting the blaster shots. One flying straight towards her, through her corporal body, this still freaked her out every time it happened. As the battle continued and the man took on more of the small army, the manoeuvres he pulled off always seemed to amaze her. The leaping, backflips, he almost seemed to fly through the air at times as his sword flashed, striking the soldiers, the back of his cloak catching in the motion and yet avoiding almost any damage.

It went on for what felt like hours but in reality she knew it was barely minutes.

The army of men slowly diminished as the man struck them down one by one, object flying through the air and diverted blaster shots taking out the soldiers. Finally the battle was over and the man sagged a little as if he had used a lot of energy, as always Alex couldn’t help but run to his side.

This time was different he usually saw straight through her as if she weren’t even there, this time as she arrived at his side to try and help him up their eyes met. So close, close enough to touch him, the man that had haunted her visions ever since she was a little girl. Reaching out to trace his cheek, their faces close enough to almost kiss, blinking in one long stroke she awoke.

Sitting bolt upright in her seat, Alex screamed aloud, long and hard. She had gotten so close, it was the first time in her many years of seeing this vision. She must know him, had to find him, this man with no name, only a light sword and a planet. But how would she get off this rock that had always been her home, the money she had saved might only get her so far but she had to try. Wrapping up what she thought she would need, Alexander Nelson headed to the nearest star ship port to buy passage and start her adventure.

Part 2: The Journey

Alex found herself on a star ship, bartering for passage by joining the crew as a cleaner of all things. Not really caring as she managed to escape the toils of being forced into having visions for others just to earn enough to survive. Sitting in her little cabin, no windows or any sign she was actually out in space besides the sound of the engine she had to trust they were heading in the right direction. The planet the visions had shown her was one she had no clue about how to find, maybe once she reached Coruscant she would be able to find out.

When the ship she had bartered to join landed and she finally made it back onto land Alex was completely lost. The capitol of the Republic was a huge metropolitan planet and one of the most advanced places she had ever seen. Totally overwhelmed by everything she saw Alex found herself in a small bar, in a dark corner watching everyone milling about. Images of her visions kept returning to her mind, how would she ever find the planet let alone the man in them. She didn’t even know if her visions were of the future or even the past.

Closing her eyes to hold onto the images from her vision, the planet she had to focus to see if there was a way to determine which planet this was happening on. She remember the sand beneath her feet vividly but what other features could she make out. Noticing for the first time the place felt cold, Alex had never felt the environment of the visions before just her own feelings about what was happening before her. Shivering from the coolness that escaped her mind she pulled her cloak tighter around herself, the face of the man slipping back into view for a moment as she studied the sky. That’s it, this wasn’t a planet she was on, it was a moon for there in the sky stood the planet it orbits. How could she have missed it all these years? Well that was easy, she had focused too much on the battle and the man before her. Her eyes shot open as the breakthrough hit her, yes she had narrowed it down but to how many? There still had to be hundred of planets with desert like moons. Needing to find someone who would know of the moon or a data storage that she could access Alex finished her food and drink before finding lodgings.

Days passed as the search continued, a few dead leads and nothing to help her out, flopping onto her bed and staring up at the rounded ceiling feeling rather defeated when the vision took her once again.

So close, close enough to touch him, the man that had haunted her visions ever since she was a little girl. Reaching out to trace his cheek, their faces close enough to almost kiss.

Looking up she could see the planet in the sky above them, leaning back she looked at the man in the cloak and lowered her hand she asked. “What is your name? I am Alex..” Following her words she gave a long blinking stroke and she awoke.

“Damn it..” Alex called out thrashing on the bed, messing up the sheets. “So close, they are getting longer.” Sitting up she brushed her fingers over her face and through her hair, wondering what all this could mean and what would happen if she actually found the moon and the man in her visions. It’s not like she rescues him, saves his life during the battle, what if it was all just a recurring dream and she had a sleeping disorder instead of having visions. Hanging her head Alex didn’t know what to think of it all right now, wishing she could open a window and get a breath of fresh air. However looking at the window of her room she knew the air outside would not be fresh, this whole planet was like a giant city there is nothing fresh about any of the air here. This was the first time she had regretted leaving home. Swinging her legs over the side of the bed and placing her feet upon the floor, her head still heavy from the dream, hanging there staring at her feet but not really seeing them. The desert still vivid in her mind. “I just have to find it..” Getting back up and swinging her bag over her shoulder Alex headed back out in search of more information.

The sun had gone down as she sat in the bar, drink in her hand as she looked at the data pad before her. Jedha, the letters written before her. Finally after weeks of searching, of becoming noticed by a few unsavoury characters for asking questions, she had finally found a lead that might bring her one step closer. Now all she had to do was get there, hence the bar. Looking around her blue eyes studying everyone from her dark corner, pilots, mercenaries and thugs liked to frequent this joint and here she would make her bargain to get to Jedha.

This time to get her place on a ship she had been asked instead of buying passage she could acquire something for the owner and smuggle it onboard. The questionable terms of her agreement made her hesitate but what else could she do, she was running out of credits having stayed here longer than she thought she would need. Agreeing to the terms the pilot shook her hand and they were off to take their quarry.

Using her visions to see if the coast was clear she and the pilot who’s name she since found out was Lux, snuck into a house. She still hadn’t been told what she was helping to retrieve and she didn’t want to know incase it implicated her even more. Standing guard on the door she could feel Lux moving about the house to find what he was looking for, her gaze was drawn by movement down the street. Letting out a long whistle as a signal she let him know that someone was coming and she hid out of sight. Watching as a dignitary passed her by and headed for the door, freezing a noise behind her further into the shadows drew her attention, slowly she turned to see......

Part 3: The Arriaval.

Lux... It was only Lux with a huge grin upon his face as he pulls the backpack on his shoulders closer to his body. “What are we waiting for??” He asked shoving her out of the alleyway and down the street away from the house. Alex was glad she hadn’t been inside the house at all but she was still apart of what had gone down, trying not to dwell on this fact she followed Lux through the streets and side alleys away from the guards and most of the lights down to the dock and his ship. Climbing up the gangway she was met inside with a droid an RX droid blocking the doorway. “Lux...” Alex said as she looked around the droid expecting him to get the droid to stand down, instead she didn’t see anything in his face as the droid marched her back down the gangway.

“I’ll tell everyone you stole it..” Alex shouted after him seeing one or two faces turn their way. Lux looked out and thought for a moment.

“Why would they believe you?” He asked with a sneer.

“Because I have the gift of vision..” Playing on her gift. “I could convince them it was you who took it and that I saw it all happen in a vision well away from theft.” Alex smirked back knowing she had him, although she couldn’t push too far she had heard he had connections with the Hutt and his syndicate.

“Alright get on, I’ll drop you at Jedha if you keep your trap shut.” As the RX droid climbed back on board Alex followed and found a seat in the cockpit while they took off. As she neared the moon that was in orbit around NeJedah she could feel the pull of the vision strengthening, knowing this is where she was meant to go and somehow when she was supposed to be there. Falling asleep in the chair she had occupied the man haunted her dreams, not the vision no, just the man. The hooded figure at first but as she grew nearer to him his face emerged a piece at a time until it burned into her subconscious. The pilot was curious about why she wanted to travel to the pilgrim moon, she didn’t seem like a Jedi or sith so why would she want to go to the moon that supplied the kyber crystals and was somewhere for those who sought spiritual guidance.

Playing to the last that is what she told Lux.

“I am on a pilgrimage to seek spiritual guidance, these visions of mine. I need to know where they come from, how I receive them and why. Perhaps there is someone there who can point me in the right direction.” Shrugging her shoulders and pulling her feet up onto the seat, resting her chin upon her knees. He left it alone then as they arrived in the mid rim, the vision rose again and Alex managed to make it to seat before it took hold.

Just like any other time it started as if walking through a mist, as she stepped forward the fog started to clear and she was once again on a different planet. Having visited here many times in her visions before she kind of knew how things played out. Looking up she could see the planet in the sky above them, leaning back she looked at the man in the cloak and lowered her hand she asked. “What is your name? I am Alex..” Alex’s eyes darted over his face memorising his features, exactly like her dream. Looking around them in desperation to find something to help her find this place. “I’m on my way...” The words trailed off as she was pulled from her vision.

Finding herself being shaken awake by Lux and the RX droid flying the ship, Alex lashed out and punched him in the stomach hard. “Don’t ever do that again.” She said as he stumbled back.

“Never, we are here. You pack a punch for such a little girl.” Lux headed back to the console.

Alex grabbed her bag and looked out of the main window to see the moon coming into view, the sandstone coloured surface and the big crater flashed up as they fell into orbit getting ready to land. She had read about what had happened, the Empire had used their weapon to destroy the Holy City and it left a huge crater in the surface of the moon. Strapping into the seat they began their decent to the crater, she would start her search there.

The Fulfilment.

Finally back on land and off the space ship Alexander watched as Lux took back off and fly back out of the atmosphere leaving her alone on the moon. Taking a deep breath and pulling the hood of her cloak up over her head her feet crunched on a few pebbles when she finally started towards the crater. The coolness of the moon was starting to set in and yet she didn’t have much time, for some reason she just knew she had to push on. Finding a direction that somehow seemed to call out she headed towards the horizon.

It didn’t take long before she was completely lost, although that was rather easy as she did not know the moon at all having never left her own planet until now.

Night was approaching and as she left the desiccated tablelands but finally settled into a small cave for the night. Wrapping herself in a blanket and cuddled into the corner while resting her eyes. It felt like only moments had past, wondering if she would ever find this person before she fell into a listless sleep. The pull of the vision didn’t hit her as she slept but was woken by something, a tugging deep down in the pit of her stomach, the sensation startled her awake. Jumping to her feet in an almost fighting stance looking for trouble, blanket lying on the floor at her feet as her eyes scanned the darkness of the small cave mouth. However there appeared to be no movement and Alex relaxed a little feeling the tugging deep in her stomach again. Collecting her things, stuffing them back into her back she wrapped the blanket around her shoulders like a cape to fight off the cold night airs of the cold desert moon.

Keeping to her feet Alex headed towards where the holy city had once stood tall and proud but now just a crater in the side of the moon. As dawn broke and the colours started to stream across the horizon, yellows, golds and oranges bouncing off the surface Alex pulled the bag higher on her back.

After trudging for what felt like hours the tugging sensation intensified, almost the point she thought she was going to be pulled into another vision but it never came. Quickening her pace the position of the sun was almost right as she came from behind a pilar of rock. Stopped in her tracks, dark eyes scanned the vista before her, this was it. The landscape that appeared in her visions now filled her view, the sky around her started to darken a little and Alex wondered if this place would help to lead her towards the man she had seen. Stepping a little closer the feeling built inside her head, just behind her eyes, the visions they seemed to be calling threatening to take over.

Just then around the corner she could hear the blasters, the whooshing of a light sword as she called it not knowing its true name.

The men in armoured suits chasing a single man in a cloak, the light sword swinging around and diverting the blaster shots. This was no longer a vision, they were both truly here.

Arriving at his side Alex wanted to reach out, to see if the man were real or just a figment of her imagination. The tips of her digits brushed his cloak gently.

“You are real..” The words fell from her lips without a second thought. “How? You were?? I’ve been seeing this since I was a child. How?” Alex rambled a little as her eyes stared into his own. “I’ve seen this a million times but I never thought it would actually lead me here to the exact time to find you.”

Finally as a hand laid upon on his arm. “I am Alex. .. My visions brought me to you.”
