personality & traits
midway upon the journey of our life I found myself within a forest dark, For the straightforward pathway had been lost. Ah me! how hard a thing it is to say What was this forest savage, rough, and stern, Which in the very thought renews the fear. So bitter is it, death is little more; But of the good to treat, which there I found, Speak will I of the other things I saw there. I cannot well repeat how there I entered, So full was I of slumber at the moment In which I had abandoned the true way.

But after I had reached a mountain's foot, At that point where the valley terminated, Which had with consternation pierced my heart, Upward I looked, and I beheld its shoulders Vested already with that planet's rays Which leadeth others right by every road. Then was the fear a little quieted That in my heart's lake had endured throughout The night, which I had passed so piteously And even as he, who, with distressful breath, Forth issued from the sea upon the shore, Turns to the water perilous and gazes; So did my soul, that still was fleeing onward, Turn itself back to re-behold the pass Which never yet a living person left.

Serinan Shadow

Dec 12th 2023 - 7:59 PM

“Such is my lot during times of war. Keeping myself busy keeps the nightmares away…” She slid herself from underneath her fighter, her dark eyes semi-glaring at her as she lay on her back on the hanger floor. She could push herself to more extreme limits than most would ever dream of before either faltering or allowing herself to rest. Rest was rarely ever actually restful for her… rest invited her nightmares to play far more often than she was ever willing to admit to anyone.

When Angel’s hand touched her shoulder, she flinched almost imperceivably due to how subtle it had been. She was still injured from the most resent battle, not yet having the opportunity to address it yet. She did nothing overtly to draw further attention to it in hopes that it had slipped her younger sister’s notice. The last thing she felt like dealing with right now was being fussed over even more by the younger Noroga. “Anakin and Tierce already have plenty to do, they don’t need my tasks added to their own.” Her facial expression shifted from slight annoyance to her famous stoic blankness, though her eyes still told a story of swirling thoughts and emotions. Too many things were weighing on her at once for her stoicism to be reflected by her eyes as well.

“Even I can’t delegate every task away… Then some things would never get done. And the last thing on my mind in any degree is sleep so you’re not winning that easily.” She pulled herself to her feet leaving Angel crouched on the floor where she’d been laying until then. She went hunting for the replacement parts she needed to finish the repairs to the shield generators on the other side of the hanger. Her eyes held within them every sign of the raging storm inside of her… a storm she wasn’t willing to speak to if she didn’t have to. The most recent battlefield was still very fresh in her mind… enough so she hadn’t fully come home yet. Such was the price paid for a life meant for waging war it seemed.

Serinan Shadow

Dec 1st 2023 - 6:11 PM

It felt like most of her so-called free time lately was filled with paperwork, ship repairs, and various briefings both political and tactical in nature. She’d spent most of her life wrapped up in wars, so much so she didn’t know what to do with herself during times of peace. Lucky for her now wasn’t a time of peace bringing, this was a time of war against what little remained of the Republic. They’d been trying to claw back systems that had chosen to join the Serinan Empire. They hated how few wished to continue putting up with their corruption and complacency leaving them with so little they weren’t very relevant any longer on the grander galactic stage. It was the fourth war between the Republic and Imperial forces, and thus far it didn’t seem to be going in their favor. Yes, soldiers were still injured, and ships were still taking damage, but overall few battles turned too contentious these days.

She’d been up before dawn to spend time training before the first of several meetings. She’d met with various groups within the Imperial Senate to make sure everyone had a chance to voice any concerns they had, and so necessary information could be passed along to the political sphere about the war efforts as well as more domestic affairs. It was early afternoon before her military council met to go over casualty numbers, supply chains for the war effort, current battles being waged, and tactics. Thankfully the Senators didn’t have too many grievances for her to see to in the immediate, but her military council was a different story. Anakin presented reports that the battles along the Hydian way and the Corellian Run trade routes were getting worse. A Fleet Admiral presented reports of incursions coming from Bothan space as well as the Deep Core. Over the course of three hours, they’d jointly decided to send the third fleet to station in the area around Christophsis, Ryloth, and the Arkanis sector. The fifth fleet was sent to station near Bothan space. The sixth fleet with a detachment of three Black Guard strike teams would be sent to stabilize all sectors near the Yinchorri system. It allowed the home and second fleets to remain on guard in the Serinan home system. The fourth, seventh, and eighth fleets were to adjust and respond to incursions in other areas as they needed to. She tried to avoid sending out the home and second fleets until she absolutely had to as they were the largest and strongest of their fleets. It would risk spreading their fleets too thin and risk a direct attack to the heart of the Serinan Empire.

After most members of her military council had left the room, she rested both hands against the holotable, leaning against it and sighing heavily. Only Anakin and Tierce remained in the room with her. They could see how much the strain was weighing on her, every loss she took personally just as she always had. She’d taken everything in war very personally since she first started her military training as a young child, the toll it tended to take on her mentally and physically was enormous. War was all she knew it seemed, times of peace always had her anxious and on edge not knowing what to do with herself. Eventually she left the briefing room for one of the main fighter hangers. She had plenty of fighters to repair both from her own squadron and a few from Anakin’s if he hadn’t already beat her to repairing all his.

She had been under the main body of her own fighter making some adjustments when she heard her younger sister’s feet approaching long before she heard her voice. Her sister couldn’t approach her silently if her life depended on it…. Then again even if she did the bratty energy that radiated from her would act as a honing beacon to warn her in advance. She rolled her eyes under her fighter hearing her younger sister begging her to take some time away from anything having to do with conflict. “You’ve lost your mind if you think I’m walking away from these repairs before they’re done willingly.”
