Platform 9 3/4 was a brilliant sight for sour eyes for the ever questioning Weasley Twins, especially after the letter was sent from Hogwarts and the Ministry for Magic that their older brother had conquered all twelve OWLs last year. Percy was second among the sibling pack to do this, which built a type of unintentional pressure on the next boys in line. All the more enforced by the informing letter that came next that Percy Weasley was Head Boy now. In general it made the summer tedious for the twins, listening to their mother's proud cries and Percy's talk about his plans as Head Boy -- and so on.
While the twins were inseparable and most of the time they had the same opinion, Fred and George had a different approach. The older twin was often the aggressor in their pranks, and snagging Percy's Head Boy badge for a fun tinkering was his first idea for the new year. It was fixed in time and the scolding likely left a mental mark, but Fred stood by his actions. Not for the reasons everyone thought -- and possibly George being the only one who really understood. Fred was actually very proud of his brother. With Percy being closer to their age he was the smart figure that the twins really could follow after. Not in the mirroring type of way that typical brothers do but with the need to be successful in what made him happy. If work in the Ministry made Percy happy then Fred would encourage, push and test him. If his hero of a big brother could take the treatment he gave him then by GOD he could take anything the thick heads at the Ministry could throw at him.
And he proved that cleverness and ambition by conquering all twelve OWLs!! Fred displayed that he was proud in his own round about strange way.
"Now, not a lick of trouble out of either of you. I mean it!" Molly scolded as the family made their way along the platform with their trunks and trolleys rolling along. "This is Ginny's first year and she doesn't need the influence."
"I'm sure she'll be fine, mum. I'll make sure of it. For now I've got to go," Percy said as he leaned to kiss his mother on the cheek. He stepped away afterward, his posture showing off that iconic badge. He really was proud of it and for good reason.
Molly, however, gave her two sons another light jab. "Really though. Keep your heads," she said with raised brows.
"Of course. What could go wrong with Lockhart as our Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher," Fred said with a smile. That was enough to get a thick blush out of their mother to nearly match her hair -- and so Fred stole a kiss to her cheek and retreated. George following suit right after as they disappeared toward the train. "Lockhart.... You remember those books mum would read to us. What do you think?" Fred asked his twin as they walked.
"If their true then we have tons to look forward to. I think they might be exaggerated because..... fiction?" George said with a light shrug.
"Fiction or cannon fodder, eh?" Fred asked and both twins chuckled lightly as they transfered their trunks onto the train and then hopped on. "But now that we're out of earshot I've got some ideas we could use the map for."
"Good because I could do with something else to talk about other than Bill and Percy," George said with a chuckle.
