The Purge

The Purge
attn: Kol
mention: Elena
Lionheart /1606290
Why was it that Kol Mikaelson attached himself to Jeremy like this? The Hunter found his gear as well as his physical body being pulled out the door by the Wily Fox. Jeremy wasn't stupid. Kol had a reputation for being only on Kol's side. He could be your best friend to your face but plunge a Dagger in your back the moment it was turned. Such was the life of someone born over 1000 years ago but with the body and mind of a man in his early 20s at best. Here Jeremy was riding shotgun with a vamp he'd already killed once. What the f*ck was he thinking?

The Purge was sponsored by Hiram Lodge as the new CEO of Triad Industries. There was something slimy about the man especially with how often he smiled and how he'd tried so hard to endear himself to Jeremy. Between Lodge and Kol, Jeremy felt like it was a tug of war. He was going to lose either way. Jeremy had to play it smart. Lodge was a Mortal man with questionable morals while Kol was Kol. It was a case of The Devil you know versus the Devil you don't know. Jeremy knew what he was getting with Kol. Hiram was an unknown element that bore watching.

Kol was rattling off again going on and on about Elena. Jeremy wasn't going to let anything happen to Elena or Jensen. Damon could take care of himself, plus he was a d*ck. Jeremy shrugged as he was lost in thought. When the radio came on with the song "Fortunate Son" Jeremy watched Kol out of the corner of his eye. The Witchy Original was sizing him up just as all the nasty mess was about to start. Jeremy was usually alone when he went on a hunt. Having Kol here was definitely going to make this hunt even more cautious than before.

Jeremy broke his silence. "Greendale has a lot of witches, Kol, but I somehow think you already knew that. You were probably here when Klaus didn't Dagger your ass and stuff you in a coffin." Poking the bear was typical of Jeremy's and Kol's relationship. These frenemies knew how to push each other's buttons. Kol was doing it with Elena so it was Jeremy's turn with Klaus. He wasn't insinuating anything other than Klaus being the domineering a**hole he always was. Jeremy allowed his own eyes to drift forward while being remarkably cautious about the 1000 year old vampire.

Jeremy was part of the Brotherhood of the Five. Killing him meant a curse to anyone who did it. It didn't mean Kol wouldn't beat him within an inch of his life if he could. Maybe one of these days Kol and Jeremy would finally just explode and beat each other senseless. Jeremy shifted in his seat as his nerves started to twist at him. The Purge had him on edge. He couldn’t trust anyone but himself in the long run. For now, Kol was the one he was siding with because ultimately it meant that Jeremy would be alive at the end of the day. Kol vs Jeremy version 2.0 would happen again without a doubt but not today.

Jeremy watched the signs pass them by as Kol kept driving. He rested his own arm on the open window. He ran his index finger on the metal in the window. These were the same hands that buried a White Oak Ash Dagger in Kol's chest. The images of Kol on Fire and turning to dust replayed in his memory. Killing Kol wiped out thousands of vampires in his sire line. It was actually a dramatic twist of irony that the vampire he killed before and Jeremy were the closest thing to best friends that one another had. Politics may make strange bedfellows but hunting supernatural creatures makes strange ones too. A Mikaelson and a Gilbert being uneasy best friends and allies? Sure this was some sort of nightmare.

None of us are gonna make it out of this town alive.
