HUB West Side Storage Hall

The grind of the heavy steel door brought security to a young Welshman as he stepped out and watched it close. On the other side was complicated medical equipment that encased a woman that was currently unconscious. It was difficult to get Lisa in here and manage to find time to follow her directions to turn the Cyber Conversion tech into a life support system. It was much better than the means in which she was hidden in Ianto's house. The sound of footsteps caught the Welshman off guard, his deep ivory hues widening a bit. Specifically because it was the sound of heavy boots as he turned to find the figure of a tall man in a greatcoat mingling with the store room hallway shadows.

They were back early from the mission, it would seem. Ianto usually had these things timed but something must have happened -- or didn't happen. Either way, this was bad. Thinking quick, the sharp dressed man took hold of the clipboard that was tucked under his right arm and jotted down notes to the forms he had printed. Lucky for him there were things started but it wasn't enough. Some quick motions from his inspection yesterday should do just fine, as he started taking casual strides down the hall. Toward Jack and away from the room -- that was the idea anyway.

"The store rooms? Ianto you've made clockwork out of all the backlog but you already covered this area didn't you?" came Jack's voice echoing off the tunnel walls. The tone was apparent that there was still some fog between them but at least it wasn't as sharp as last week.

"Actually, you have an erosion problem, sir," Ianto stated flatly as he came to meet Jack in the hall. "There is a leak from Cardiff Bay down into the west side -- which likely has gone unchecked for some time. I've already ordered the materials to fix it."

"That'll be the least of our problems if this side of the HUB ends up under water." Jack watched as Ianto continued to make notes, stepping to look over his shoulder. "Are you inspecting floor by floor?"

"Have been for the last month. Each day I cover one sector. West side Wednesday so...." Ianto then looked to Jack, realizing how close they were standing and arching a brow. "I take it.... you hardly do any remodelling."

"When the mood hits me. Let's have a look then," Jack said as he stepped away along the hall.

"Ahhh, already covered that way, sir. It's here in the notes. Besides, the leak you want to see is that way. No use in starting from the main HUB when it's more efficient to work backwards. No need to file paperwork walking back and forth twice," Ianto said with a light pen gesture toward the hallway to their right.

The Captain paused, letting the logic sink in before stepping back. The motions leaving the greatcoat to do the same. "...I'm starting to think Torchwood One would have been a shambled mess without you, Ianto Jones." He then encouraged Ianto yo lead the way and the two soon fell in step along the inspection.

"On the topic of inspections though... your coat is missing a button. Not sure if you knew that," Ianto said as his gaze trailed along the structure more. Really he knew what he was looking for and just jotted notes as he went along -- bit he really needed Jack to focus here and not back there.

"I haven't been able to find a replacement. Good eye, though... What about you though. A three piece suit isn't usually wardrobe of choice for chasing a Pterodactyl. I bet there's a story since you're not wearing it traditionally," he said.

At that, Ianto couldn't help but to pause in his steps. Not many people noticed so he couldn't help but to be intrigued. "You're right. I've decided to tuck and clip rather than have it tailored. I'm actually a little--"

"Don't tell me.... I think I can guess if you're willing?" Jack said with a smile.

"...Willing?" Ianto's brows rose, but he didn't exactly decline. Somehow he knew where this was going and yet his own curiosity was working against him.

"A momentary trade?" Slipping the greatcoat off he held it out hung by his fingers. The other hand flat but specifically for the clip board.... and a daringly dashing smile slipping across his face. "We can step aside? Play a little game?"

"....Uuhhhh, rules first," Ianto said as he tucked the chipboard back under his arm. That was way too quick. Way too willing. What was he getting himself into? Many questions passing through his mind but he still paid attention.

"You inspect the greatcoat while I inspect the suit."

"Safe to say mine is too small for you--"

"Oh, Ianto that would be too easy. The game goes like this. We get to openly explore, just a simple search. The coat hits the floor by the time I finish a pat down then I win," Jack explained with a light shrug of the shoulders.

"And if it doesn't then I win, basically. I'm guessing we're not talking about a pay raise or gift card as a prize?" Ianto asked.

"We'll cover that base when we get there... Interested?" the Captain asked.

Ianto debated for only a moment. This was definitely a distraction. It was obvious that the other hall was completely forgotten... but it's actually been forgotten by both of them at this point. Strange how these things work. With a light sigh the Welshman actually relaxed, holding out the clipboard. Jack smiled wide and let his greatcoat slip from his fingers -- which Ianto stepped quickly to catch and sling over his forearm.

"That was cheating," Ianto said with a light chuckle as he stepped toward one of the side rooms.

"Was it?" Jack chimed lightly as he stepped inside, closing the door behind them.
