Ichabod's past

-- I don't usually write character analyses, but as Ichabod and Eve is the only storyline I have going on at the moment, I thought I'd write one. I believe I analyzed Ichabod's father not too long after creating this account, but I don't have it saved, plus I would love to re-write it. Also, I was listening to my Ichabod playlist on Spotify while writing. I will have the link at the end if you want to listen. Welome to what I think about almost every day. --

Ichabod's father had always been a priest and was born and raised in the small town that Ichabod would grow up in. He was a man devoted to his job, and while his church was ornate and beautiful, they lived in a humble home. This never bothered Ichabod as a child, who spent his days learning and playing with his mother. She was his whole world, and life was seemingly perfect for him.

After his mother's death at the hands of his father, Ichabod became a withdrawn child. He no longer held any belief in a higher power, which angered his father, and he spent his days mostly by himself. His father became very abusive towards him, trying to force him into being the perfect child. Due to Ichabod's withdrawal from social life, however, their neighbor's remained woefully ignorant of what was happening. The abuse he suffered from his father impacted his mental health severely, and he had at one point even resorted to self-harm as an escape mechanism.

At age thirteen, Ichabod would get into a major argument with his father in the church, and in a rage, his father pushed him. As Ichabod was leaning against a window, he fell through. Since it was a single-floor building, he did not suffer a great fall. The glass however tore his back up extensively, and his back is littered with small scars, along with one large jagged scar starting at his left shoulder and ending at his right hip.

Ichabod ran away from home at age fifteen, and both Ichabod and his father assumed they would never see each other again. This, however, would prove to be false, as over a decade after running away, he would return with Eve to finally arrest his father for the murder of his mother.

Overall, Ichabod's father was a very controlling, abusive man. Much of what he did was away from the public eye, and nobody knew what he was doing until Ichabod's return.
