The kingdom was vast upon a hilly landscape dotted with castles and chateau’s. Almost every family by this shore was wealthy (including Ella’s father) however it was in these times where disease and pestilence reigned with no cure and it wasn’t un-common for fortunes to be passed down to new generations or even neighbors, but ultimately the entire land belonged to the king of France and deeds were to be appropriately signed before a true transfer of fortune was established (which Ella’s father never got a chance to do) which is why the step mother depended on the grand duke more than she would have liked. Kit’s upbringing He was the only son and heir to the entirety of the French Monarch. Heavy burdens for one so young, and he was quite aware of it. He had many tutors. In horse riding, mathematics, fencing and marksmanship but his most favorite of all would be sailing. The sea called to him daily. The salty sea air, the mysterious clouds upon the horizon that could be new land! Kit lived and breathed the sea and one day he knew in his heart he would set sail and never come back… Day after day since he was a boy, he watched the turning of the tide. Trust me he loved his peaceful kingdom, but his true desires resides in the vast oceans before him. He would walk the shores, collect the things that washed up, find himself diving from cliffs and nearly drowning himself seeing exactly how deep he could go. On days that proved to be too treacherous with storm, he would study maps and documentation of how many seas there were and what lands lies beyond them and what creatures resided beneath them. Kit’s palace way from his main home where he learned from tutors… close to Ella’s home... When kit was just 13 he was able to board a vessel, departing for Cardiff wales and this proved to be the beginning of his sailing addiction. He was intrigued by the compass, many ropes, firearms and starboard commands made by old captains.. but in the back of his mind, he always knew he had to return to France. To take his rightful (boring) place as monarch of France…. But meanwhile he stayed at sea for a decade! Traveling to Spain, Portuguese shores, South Africa, and India. And of course on his travels he met a great many beauties… from light, to reds, to dark hair… many beautiful women… some were knowledgeable, some where servants, some were sultan’s daughters and some where wild… all of whom he encountered never really fulfilled his heart. Kit met magical woodland maidens, sad highland lasses, noble stuckup crazy queens lol . When she past away I saved all her artwork. Canvas, scraps of parchment and handmade letters she would gently stroke tiny rosettes and flowers upon. When my father was away she loved to send him letters but also she knew how much he loved to see her paintings and she would dabble on her fragrant oil's too so he wouldnt get home sick when he was seabound. I never used not one parchment that she made. But then again, -gazes to the envelope in her delicate hands as she speaks softly again- I never met the man of my dreams, one whom I hope thinks of me in the same way. So I wrote you a letter using one of her parchments. I think my beloved I am falling in love with you, or, I already am...." “When I look at you, I see the silent tragedy in your eyes. The gentle blues and hushed silvery daggers of a life you wanted to leave behind. Your blood was never the same as that of your mother or father's. It’s salted in the turbulent sea, wanderlust and vanguard heart.
