"Time was once a blessing, but long journeys are made longer when alone within.
Take spirit from the long ago, but do not dwell in lands no longer yours.
Be certain in need, and the path will emerge to a home tomorrow and time will again be the joy it once was."

"Seeking to aid everyone that suffers in the world will only weaken yourself and them. It is the internal struggles, when fought and won on their own, that yield the strongest rewards. To care for others, one must dispense with pity and sacrifice and recognize the value in letting them fight their own battles. And when they triumph, they will be even stronger for the victory."

"A cultures teachings and most importantly the nature of its people achieve definition in conflict. They find themselves or find themselves lacking"

"Tell me what is your greatest strength, so I can undermine you.
Tell me what you fear, so I know what I must force you to face.
Tell me what you cherish most, so I know what to take from you.
Tell me what you crave, so I can deny you."

"If you are to truly understand something, then you need to know the contrast and not adherence to a single side of it."

"Die and be free of pain
Or live and fight your sorrow"

I've been around the world
I've seen a million things
I've fought in countless wars
I've dined with many kings.
I've seen the northern lights
I've counted all the stars
Been in 'n' out of Saturn's rings
And started life on Mars.
I'm fluent in every language
I've tasted each cuisine
I've stayed in every palace
And lived what people dream
I was there when it began
And I know when it will end
My only enemy is man,
Yet you are still my dearest friend.
I invented evolution
I gave you your first breath
I was there at your conception
And I'll be there at the time of death.

About me:

I have no grand past that ties in with history. I am not the child of two great beings. I am no ruler nor deity or master. I simply am what I am and live the way I want to. What I am is two halves, the blurring of two species. My mother was a dragon who took on the form of a human and wed a man in a distant land. I was the result of their joining, a freak to my human bloodline and an abomination to my dragon kin. Unable to cope with what my mother and I were my father left us, ran and never looked back.

My mother returned to her homelands where she would raise me to a young adolescent age. One night another dragon would find us, a painful memory from my mothers past who would kill her out of revenge for abandoning him as an egg. By her death I survived as she fought to keep me hidden. After that night I would be on my own having to survive on natural base instincts.

I was later taken in by elves having stumbled upon their forest. For once in my life, aside from my mother, I was accepted by someone. I was fed and sheltered, taught in swordsmanship, archery, and magic. It was on the onset of adulthood that I left my caretakers and set off to live my life.

From then to present time I have been a mercenary of sorts, a sword for hire. While this is hardly a profession and I do not advertise myself as one I have found myself in the same position often. I do not lead I follow. I am warrior and guardian. Fame and fortune to not matter to me I simply do what is right, that can often be debated however.
In my travels I encountered someone who I would eventually share the majority of my life with. A creature as magnificent as she was fierce; she would try to kill me while in a feral state of mind. The dragon Kasatka would become my mate once I aided her in regaining her senses and it was with her that we would weave our stories together traveling far and wide.

One must realize the magnitude of this feat however as well as the absurdity it entailed. For me, a half-breed, to be accepted as a mate to a full-blood was unheard of and would have no doubt been looked down upon by the elders of that era. Whatever higher power there may be though made such a union possible and our adventures are too numerous to retell. One chapter though entailed both great joy and later great sorrow.

Jules was twenty-two and now living in New York City. She was now a top model for Vogue magazine. She had been with the company now for three years and loved it. She worked her butt off to get to the position she now had. It was rough in the beginning but it was all worth it. Jules had come from a broken home and then in high school the only real relationship she had went south and it broke her. She became a version of herself she had no longer recognized or liked. Sadly it took almost dying to open her eyes and change her life around.

She heads to her favorite coffee shop as she stands in line and looks over the board to see what flavor she'd like for the day. It was a new work week and Jules loved trying all the flavors Starbucks had to offer, which was a lot. When it was her turned she ordered the white chocolate banana latte as well as the usual work order for her boss and other employees. She heads out of the coffee shop after paying and moves to her car, where she sets them in the seat and places the car in park. Heading to Vogue, parking in her very own parking space which she had to earn she grabs the coffee's and heads inside.

She walks through the halls, her black heels hitting the floor with every step. She wore a cute purple, floweral dress with her hair down since it was now cut just above her shoulders. She had a thing for glitter, ever since she was a little girl so her makeup obviously had to be filled with some glitter. She didn't go over board though as she didn't want any reason to lose her job. Seeing everyone already in the morning meeting she goes around and hands out the coffees and then takes her seat. They discussed the coming up fall fashion show and how Jules would be the top model for the job. She was excited to get her first gig. She hoped this is what she would need to make it to the very top. She had worked so hard to get to where she was.

After the meeting she cleans up the office and throws all the empty cups away heading to her office. She starts to brainstorm what kinds of clothing she would like to see in the fall show and texts her friend Brooke who is also a fashion designer and has a clothing shop in New York. At lunch she heads to her friends boutique and takes a look around. They plot some ideas together and over the weekend the two would get together and start making the clothes. She leaves the shop with her sketch pad as she heads to the cafe to get a bite to eat. She takes a seat at a table with a booth setting her sketch pad in front of her as she works on some more designs and orders a blt and soda with cheese fries.

Jazinda the wolf, winced as she saw the other faux canine stumble, she hadn’t intended to put him off his stride. As he tumbled, a concerned ‘yip’ left her and she hurried after him, circling and nosing at him gently as she reassured herself that she hadn’t inadvertently caused the shape shifter harm. He seemed calmer now, as if the tumble that had befallen him and brought him back to his senses. Again, she pondered what could haunt him, because he’d definitely been trying to flee something, some memory that wouldn’t find peace.

Jazinda has her own ‘demons’ that plagued and ‘ghosts’ that haunted. She’d been running from hers for the majority of her adult life, it was exhausting and was one of the many reasons that she’d embraced solitude for so long. G’aos had changed that though. She no longer wanted to be a wandering recluse, she had a ‘Mate’, one with which she could face the phantoms that would give her no rest.

Curiously, her head tilted to the side, Jazinda the wolf watched the shifter righten himself and find his feet. She listened to his voice in her mind and her tongue hung out in a wolffish grin. It’d seem that this creature was one who was partial to one sided conversations. Her fur bristled though as the creature became more aware, noting how his nostrils flared as his sensitive nose realised that she didn’t smell of wolf.

Jazinda had the good sense to take a few steps back as realisation dawned on the shifter, watching him as he squared his stance, making him appear bigger as he rose to all fours. She couldn’t communicate with him in this form, he may have a voice but she did not. It was with reluctance that she shifted. The wolf shifted in a blur, the transformation into a ‘human’ taking mere seconds. Her shift was seamless, not like his if earlier. She didn’t take on her true Skrull form as she didn’t want to cause alarm and further confusion. She knew that she wouldn’t smell human, she knew that he would know that the human form was a false one...

The human Jazinda looked down at the wolf, her arms stretched out at her sides to try and show that she meant him no ill intent. “I am Jazinda Kl’rt-spawn.” She could at least be honest in the giving of her name. “This form is not my true form, but I don’t want to startle you anymore than I probably already have...”

Jazinda wasn’t surprised at all as she heard that soft voice resounding in her mind. Through her life she had met different races where telepathy was usual. Some who claimed that the ability meant that they could also wield magic. Some of these magics baffled the somewhat technically based alien, she’d been unable to find the origins of the energies that they could summon and control. Other magics stemmed from biology, the genetic makeup of the species. Like her own Shapeshifting prowess. Some had deemed the natural born ability of the Skrull a magic, but the Skrull didn’t see it as that, it was what they were. The Skrull were shapeshifters, there was no magic there.

“Run with me.”

Jazinda never needed telling or asking twice, not when it came to the freedom of an animal form and feeling the air ruffle through fur. Jazinda loved to run, in what ever form she was in. Be it Skrull or whilst imitating another life form, to have an open space, to be outside, running was a blessing. Her hind legs bunched beneath her as she sprung forward, in hot pursuit of the being that she had stumbled upon.

He made a very pleasing Wolf, it was obviously a form he was accustomed to and enjoyed. As he ran slightly ahead of her, she noticed the ease and grace in which he moved, he was fluid, like waves rolling gently upon the shore. Part of her wondered if she made it look as easy as he did!

Their paws are up the ground, seemingly covering vast distances as dirt, grass, moss...so many different textures greeted each well place footfall. Roots were leapt over, branches ducked beneath and brambles avoided. Her canine companion ran like the very god of death was at his tail and she kept up. This run seemed to have taken on something else...like the echoes of this creatures earlier distress had again caught up and found him.

There was almost an air of distress to the entity, the creature seemed haunted, pained...yet not by any physical ailment. She brushed up against his side, almost as if to remind him that she was there, to offer comfort in some way. If this being could turn into a wolf, could he be also be the ‘dragon’? If he were, he was not the monster he had been depicted as...

Jazinda watched he blue haired male curiously, she watched him drop his chunk and her eyes followed the morsel as it left his claws fingers and landed on the ground. With a soft whine she picked up the meat between her teeth and flopped onto the group to eat it. Jazinda was never one to waste food, no matter what form she was in. She watched him as she ran her tongue over the meaty treat, chewing on the corner of it as she watched her companion wave his hand and cause the fire to go out. Jazinda had seen a lot of things in her life and one of those things was magic. She knew it when she saw it and there was no mistake that this blue haired stranger could wield it.

As he dropped onto his hands and knees, Jazinda’s wolf tail started wagging, swishing though the dirt and grass as she gave a sort yip. She gnawed at the meat and swallowed it as she watched the Male curiously, wondering if he was going to engage her in play. Hearing that ‘pop’, Jazinda whined, rising up onto her four paws, her tail low between her hind legs. What was he doing?!

She watched what looked like a very painful transformation. As she witnessed it she was eternally grateful that her own shape shifting was fluid. She almost became a momentary blur when she shifted and it was instant...nothing like this. This was almost reminiscent of an old werewolf horror movie a friend had made her watch.

A moment later a dark wolf with golden eyes stood before her. Slowly her tail started to wag again and a wolffish smile etched across her mussel. Her tongue hung out of the side of her mouth almost as if she were laughing. She hadn’t been expecting that! As he threw his head back and howled, Jazinda joined him, drawing out the haunting notes as she paid respect to this creatures beliefs. What was he?!

As he turned to face her, she let out an excited yip and bowed down low on her front paws. It had been such a long time since she’d had another shifter to play with and in this wolf form her intentions were typically playful. She farted in and playfully nipped beneath his yaw before backing up, front down, rear up and tail wagging. Her every indication was that of wanting to play.

Jazinda eyes the male in her wold form, she was curious of him, but as always teamed that curiosity with caution. She learnt from a very young age that curiosity could lose a life. It had been a hard lesson, but it was one that had stuck with her. The blue haired male seemed as curious of her as she was him. She detected no scent or visible signs of fear from him. Despite his previous distress, the anguished howl that had alerted her to him, he seemed oddly calm.

As he spoke, Jazinda tilted her furry head to the side. She understood his words and as usual, at the mere mention of hunger or food, her stomach gave a low growl of longing. Jazinda was constantly hungry, something that more often than not landed her in some...interesting situations. She watched with interest as clawed fingers sliced off a hunk of meat and tossed it to her. bushy tail wagging, she caught the meat in her powerful jaws and lay upon the ground with the chunk between her front paws.

Licking the meat, see considered both what she'd just witnessed and the males appearance. The blue hair alone marked this male as different to the people on this world, the claws even more so. If the male had also summoned that flickering blue flame then she hazard a guess that he was either as alien as her, or...he was born to this world but was different to the majority of it's inhabitants.

As she chewed her meat she watched him, c*cking an eat towards his as he spoke to her. She grinned wolfishly as he referred to the satellite that orbited this word as a Goddess, if only he knew! She listened curiously though, every race had their religions, their sets of beliefs. She respected anyone who kept faith, the universe threw so much at people that often their faiths were tested...she knew that her own had on more than one occasion.

Finished her tasty morsel, she rose to her four feet and sniffed around him curiously, trying to place a scent. He didn't smell of any alien that she knew and she been about the universe and smelt most of them, which drew her to the conclusion that he belonged on this world...what ever he was. He wasn't what she was looking for, of that she was fairy certain, but he deserved investigation all the same. Should the villagers find out about him they would likely turn on him.

Everything smelt so fresh, flowers were in bloom and their scents were beautiful, some delicate other quite pungent. As her furry, wolf form brushed up against the swaying stems the pollen clung to her dense coat causing her to sneeze. It was so nice to be free from the vastness of space. To be out here, on this world, making her way through this beautiful unspoilt forest with the sunlight dappling through the trees...it was like a little spot of heaven. She could easily forget that she was here for a reason, to do a job...but the more and more that Jazinda thought about it the less she actually believed that a Dragon was killing livestock and villagers. Something might be, but a Dragon???

She sneezed and pawed at her nose, shaking her head. As lovely smelling as all this flora was she needed to alter her path. SHe glanced about and started up a slope, ducking beneath low slung branches and leaping over tree roots that had erupted from the earth. The further up she headed the less flowers there were and her nose started to feel less tingly. Reaching the top of the slope she shook out her dense, black coat ridding it of any pollen it had gathered. Glancing around from this new vantage point she lifted her snout and inhaled the scents on the breeze. C*cking her head to the side she sniffed again, smoke...a campfire? The Humans had told her that they feared the forest because of the Dragon, so who could have started a fire? Another scent accompanied the smell of smoke, that of meat...the scent of cooking food caused a rumble to go through her stomach and the wolf whined a little.

Curiosity spiked and she trotted off towards the source of the smell. She stopped in her tracks as she heard a harrowing roar. Her ears flattened against her skull and a soft whine left her throat. Even though the powerful roar was obviously a challenge the sound didn’t scare her, there was almost a desperation, a pleading note to the sound. All the more curious she hurried on, letting her four padded feet carry her swiftly and silently to a clearing. She spied the campfire which was an unnatural blue in colour,  she spied the meat, then her eyes fell on the fallen figure of a person. One who was obviously distressed. Tentatively, the wolf edged closer, whining lowly to let the person know she was there so not to startle him.

..earlier that day

"It's been taking our live stock! It needs to be stopped, killed! It's gone on long enough." The villager declared, waving his arms around dramatically to make his point. "We'll stave come winter if it continues. All others have failed us, why would we believe that a mere female can end its reign of thieving and slaughter!?"

Jazinda looked at the villager with an elegant eyebrow raised. She was sat in a wooden chair, her booted feet resting on a table top with her arms folded. Why would they believe she could finish where all others had failed? She smiled a little smugly. Such an unprogressive race of people, how they'd ever discovered fire, the use of tools and the wheel was a miracle really, utterly mind blowing. It was predicted that in a few hundred years these 'Terrans', who called themselves humans, would advance at such a rate that they would fly to the moon. Jazinda was not convinced!

Jazinda Kl'rt-Spawn was not of this Earth, she was of an alien Race, the Skrull. A super advanced Race who had been around not long after the birth of the Universe. They'd once been a peaceful race, offering less advanced Races aid in progressing to the stars. It had proven to be a mistake, one that had cost them dearly. They gone from being a peaceful people to a warrior race, with questionable ethics. Jazinda however was different, she was banished by her people, a lone soul traveling the galaxies.

Born and raised a soldier she had a skill set, one she used for bounty hunting. Of course, the Terrans on their planet Earth did not know this. She would be burnt at a stake should they discover what she was. Fortunately for Jazinda, her people were blessed with the ability to shapeshift. Upon arriving on this world, she had shifted from her natural green coloured skin, swooping pointed ears, sharp canines and corrugated chin to the disguise of a human. Her ears were small and she'll like, her complexion pale and rosy, canines smaller and blunter and she'd changed her usual pixie cut to long dark curls.

"I have told you, I will see the task done, but I need your word that this 'Dragon' is indeed taking your animals," Jazinda explained, "I completed a similar hunt across your ocean."

"It takes our children, out infants and virgins!" A woman wailed, pressing her face into a mans neck. Jazinda sat forward, this was a new bit of information. "If we let it have them it leaves our animals be."

Jazinda frowned, she wasn't convinced by this tale at all, but in truth, she needed the bounty, and the semi precious stone that were on offer here were worth a lot of credits in the further reaches of the galaxy.

"Fine, I will take up this task, but I will need to investigate. If I find your suspected foe innocent I will not dispatch of him. However, I will find the culprit." Jazinda said as she rose from her seat.

.that evening.

Jazinda had been searching the forest for some time. Once clear of the village and prying eyes she had shifted her form to that of a creature native to this world. She was very taken with the form of a wolf. They were sturdy beasts with exceptional senses and they could walk for miles without tiring. Growing accustomed to the scents of this world was a treat. Where there was no industry there was no pollution and everything smelt amazing. She'd been exploring all sorts of potential places that may be home or den to this 'Dragon' that the villagers spoke of. In all honesty, Jazinda wasn't convinced. There may well be a 'Dragon' but she seriously doubted that it would waste its time with the villagers. There was a huge food source on this planet, why bother with the Humans? No, something smelt somewhat fishy to Jazinda and she seriously wondered what she might be getting herself into.

Liriel Baenre

Sep 14th 2014 - 2:52 PM

Her face scrunched and twisted as she lay there before she huffed to herself. She jumped up and off the bed, heading back over to the desk in her room. Hands quickly moved books and rolls of parchment aside until she found the worn leather bound book her father had given her. It had taken her many places, above and below the surface. It had given her freedom from the likes of her aunts and those that would try to keep her in one place for too long. Running a hand over the cover, she opened it to a familiar spell without having to flip through the pages. Pursing her lips, she thought it all out.

"I could risk a quick trip" She whispered to herself. It would have to be quick. If anyone came calling on her and found her gone she would wish she was in the seventh level of the Abyss. The real problem was being able to cast the spell while in the Baenre compound, but the more she thought of it the more she knew her father had compensated for such situations in the spells. A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips at once again seeing the surface. The thought of running through the woods and seeing the little creeks she used to visit when she was younger made her grab a small sack and prepare for the journey. After she had packed the sack she went to lacing up her gear that she would need for protection. As she pulled the bracers on and tightened them, she started saying the words that would open the portal to the surface. Once the knot was tied the portal opened up right in front of her. The pale blue light filling the whole of the room. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed her things and tossed them through before taking hold of a sword and her hand cross bow and following them.

On the other side of the portal, she emerged in large chamber. Behind her was the mouth of the cave that led to the surface realm. In front of her was the expanse of tunnels and caverns that led down into the Underdark. Turning on her heals; she picked up her sack and slung it over her shoulder. Her piwafwi was pushed up on her right shoulder in doing so. With a smile on her face, she took in the fresh air of the night and quietly headed towards the opening. Though she was familiar with this area, it had been some time since she was last here. Much could have changed, not to mention there could be any number of creatures about.

Liriel Baenre

Mar 20th 2014 - 7:31 PM

Deep within the earth was the drow city of Menzoberranzan. A city filled with treachery and death if one wasn't keen enough to avoid it. Those who weren't became slaves or worse and there was always worse than death in this city. Beyond the poor section and the Bazaar, the wealthy and noble Houses stood, the highest of these being House Baenre. The first house had been favored by Lolth for many years, had produced many strong and powerful priestesses.

The next they hoped to turn priestess, Liriel, sat in the room provided to her when she stayed here. She honestly preferred to stay in her own mansion, but her aunt insisted she room here for the night. Unable to resist, she brought her things to her room and dumped them on the rather large desk facing the door. With one hand she splayed the books and scrolls out to look at. She had just purchased a few new spell books that she wished to mull over. Then there was her journal. Her eyes fell on its leather bound cover and without a second thought she picked it up and tossed herself on the bed.

She opened the book to some random page and began to reread what was written there. Her lips curled at the edges as she realized that this was her entry about when she first met Skulblaka, a pesky half-breed dragon that looked more like a surface elf to her. A fact, that she would constantly tease him with for the length of their journey together. Letting her hand fall down to the bed along with the journal she thought back to those days. She was a little more carefree and perhaps reckless.

Skulblaka had gotten lost in the Underdark and without proper guidance was unable to find his way out. What he did do was venture closer to her fair city and dispatched a number of patrols that were sent to bring him back. That was until she found him. It took time for her to trust him enough to lead him out, but eventually she did. She had told him that it was more for the safety of her people than it was to help him. And she was telling the truth. A dragon could do severe damage before being brought down. But now as she sat there, bored, she wondered just what her little 'elf' friend was up to.
