he unicorn is a legendary magical animal that originates from ancient Greek history (the Greeks were convinced that the creature was real back in ancient times) and was later adopted by European folklore. It appears to be a horse with a coat and mane of pure white fur, yet it also possesses a spiraling horn jutting from its forehead. The horn of the unicorn is made of a material known as alicorn, which is similar in consistency to ivory but possesses great medicinal and magical properties.
Unicorns are said to have healing powers, and drinking the blood of one can keep you alive when you are sick. They are also believed to have other powers which they do with their horns, e.g spells and enchantments. Unicorns also live forever, or until killed. Unicorns horns can bring the dead back to life and clean polluted water.
Unicorn foals were born pure gold in colour. They remained so until they were about two years old, at which time they turned silver in colour. At around four years old their horn grew in. They were fully grown at about seven years old, at which at this age they turned a shade of pure white that was so bright that it made freshly fallen snow looked grey in comparison. Their hooves were golden (remaining so from their gold stage, the first two years of their life), and their blood was silver-blue and shone under the moonlight. It was not mentioned how long a Unicorn can live for.
Unicorns inhabited the forests of Europe, including the Forbidden Forest by Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Unicorns preferred a woman's touch, but the young ones were more trusting and do not mind men as much. Unicorns are also so fleet of the hoof that they can rarely be caught by humans. They were also fast enough to outrun werewolves with absurd ease. Wandmakers such as the Ollivander family also plucked hairs from the tails of the creatures to use in wands as cores. Not aggressive without cause, but should be treated with great respect.
Various parts of the Unicorn โ the horn and tail hair in particular โ were used in potions. Unicorn hair in general was used for the cores of wands. Unicorn hair can be used in wandmaking; they produce the most consistent magic, least subject to fluctuations and blockages, most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts and the most faithful of wands. However, they did not make the most powerful of wands and were prone to melancholy if mishandled, although the wand wood can compensate this. The Wandmaker Garrick Ollivander made wands with unicorn hair cores.
The tail hair can also be used as binding in bandages due to its incredible strength. The blood of a unicorn can be used to keep a person who is near death alive, thus granting the drinker immortality, but "you will have but a half-life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips." Unicorn horn is often used as a common potion ingredient, in potions such as the Antidote to Common Poisons, Draught of Peace and Wiggenweld Potion.
Colton the little Orphan
Colton was born in a high wealthy family bloodline that was around for ages. His mother Lady Zoe known over time by Zoey. In Greek Zoe meant Life. Which fit her true form of who she was. She had to hide her true form too live with humans as they overtook the lands and killed of anything magical. She was able to live past other humans as her unicorn blood kept her alive. This is what allowed her to become such a high wealthy bloodline. Centuries later Zoe gave birth to her first-born son ever. He was born in human form in a human cottage hospital, but Zoe knew her Little Prince was like her deep down. Lady Zoe named her son Colton, which others grew to call Colt.
Lady Zoe married another high bloodline to not be shamed upon in Europe for having a son without being married to a man. Her true reason was to protect her son from those who tracked magical things or evil creatures who killed those of magical light. Colton was brought up as a human boy only to know that unicorns where fairy tales in fantasy stories. That Greek myths where just myths for bedtime stories.
Sadly, around the age of nine Colton's world changed for the worst. His mother was killed on the way home from an event. Her death was made to look like a wreck and people believed it. By age ten Colton lost his father due to a stab in the heart by knife, while Colton was at school.
Colton discovered the death later that day returning home. The police declared death by a thief who broke into the house. Yet nothing was taken or missing from the house. He lost his mother and who he thought was his true blood father. Colton had to leave the family house and all the family money as he was to young. His unknowing stepfatherโs side fought with greed over the money and house as Lady Zoey had no family on her side to claim it. Colton now sat in a child home alone for the first time in his life. From high riches to poor in one day.
This is how Colton became the Little Orphan.
