Ahkmenrah
eroded authenticity
This profile has been adapted from my tumblr account of the same name erodedauthenticity. Ahkmenrah has been shaped over several years, starting from 2016! Any character of any verse is welcome to join in.
The new world is ever-changing. I've learned quickly to enjoy every moon.
Education and experience awaits.
When the sun sets, the world is observed by the unaccustomed.Experiences, both trivial and profound, are thoroughly enjoyed. The tablet of Ahkmenrah gifts life again or anew.
Memories of his life as pharaoh seem blurred. He lived what seems to be only a fragment of life before death. After being graced with new life, he has every opportunity to experience the beauty of the world today. As an exhibit within the museum, opportunities await him. This gift is a second chance; the tablet is a gift of life. This ancient artifact has been guarded closely by Ahkmenrah, for all to enjoy life to the fullest.
While learning, he is favored with the opportunity to educate, and he seizes it with a promising smile.
The museum is intended to be a sanctuary for all, a place of learning, and a place for newer journeys alongside others.
Pet Name 'Ahkie' / 'Ahky' it's a new addition to a gradual list, and it's met with (often) polite curiosity.
Gender Male
Weakness โข Sunlight- if Ahkmenrah is faced with natural sunlight, his body will irreversibly mummify. corrosion of the tablet. โข Corrosion - If the tablet is starved of moonlight, Ahkmenrah will begin to decompose. โขย Absence of the tablet - Without the tablet, there is no magic, and Ahkmenrah will remain a mummy. As he is one of very few with the ability to operate it, the tablet will be useless without him.
Real Age The pharaoh openly admits that lost track, but assumes he's far older than four thousand years old. He died at twenty.
Age Appearance Ahkmenrah appears rather young. Larry, the night guard, accounts that he looks around the age of eighteen
Birthday c. 1341 BC or 1332 BC [recorded, interpreted, and ineptly recollectedโ September 14th]
Date of DeathC. 1321 BC
Zodiac Sign Virgo
Orientation In life, he expected a wife. In death, however, a new life in wait - he has lived long enough to experience more. He is open to accept men or women as his partner.
Personality For a pharaoh locked away and confined to a sarcophagus for over fifty years, he is
remarkably forgiving. He was known as a tactful pharaoh, loved dearly by his people. He treats his kingdom of the "new world" with similar openness and vigilance. There are nearly four thousand years to catch up on, and because of this, he treats his experiences with bright, infectious enthusiasm.
Ahkmenrah
Species Human, Exhibit โขย Undead
Ethnicity Egyptian
Blood Type Unknown. It's suggested that one not ask him this. He'll likely want to know everyone's blood type and not everyone within his kingdom (the museum) has blood to offer.
Preferred Hand Though he's been observed carrying his tablet with his left arm, he is right handed.
Eye Color Ahkmenrah has a seemingly dull color to jade eyes.
Hair Color His hair is a dark brown, often covered by his Deshret.
Makeup He lines his eyes with lead salt.
Height 5โฒ 9โณ
Birthmarks/scars Beneath his wesekh collar and hidden within the decorated shoulder cape, there is a pronounced puncture between the ribs. It is what remains from an early death.
Distinguishing Features Nothing is entirely striking of Ahkmenrah's person, physically. He has a pronounced, bright smile that is said to be quite infectious (not to mention rather mischievous)
Energy Adventure awaits the exhibits within the confines of the museum. There is much to do, and there is every reason to enjoy it to the fullest extent. Because of this, he thrives on higher energy
Memory With a life almost eternal, there is always a need to learn and relearn. His memory is quite profound.
Phobias Claustrophobia: extreme or irrational fear of confined places. (after being contained alive within a sarcophagus, Ahkmenrah has endured a fear towards being trapped within slimming spaces.)

Flashcards
After openly admitting that he's not exactly able to read, Rebecca bestows him a gift of flashcards. He's made quite the hobby of reading modern scripts of two to three lettered words on a flashcard (his most read term being โCARโ .) These flashcards vary, and depending on the difficulty (a lack of picture, really- the pictures often trying to prompt him to guess- if they're much too modern) he will react openly with chagrin. Certain cards are favored among others. He's prone to reading them aloud within the company of others to rouse their wonder. He carries a well worn deck, and he will regularly exercise his capacity to learn and identify small terms. Cards without pictures are considered 'deceptive'.
Thunderstorms.
Storms were infrequent in his kingdom.ย
Despite his age, four-thousand-year-old memories still return to him....
Rainless lands were graced with a storm, one wild with a promise of the unknown. He could recall words of mudbrick homes gradually washed away by the river, pyramids damaged. Torrential winds snuffed out the torches. Although uncertain in that night, Ahkmenrah treasures the memory now. There's a recollection of Nubia's serene words, her watchful eye aimed towards the pharaoh as he witnessed a war among the stars with a set jaw and a rapid heart.ย
When a storm sweeps beyond museum walls, exhibits react as their historical counterparts. It's often the one night in Ahkmenrah's kingdom that is never quiet.ย The Primordial men react in resounding, distantย cheers.ย Animals skitter by,ย leaving behind scrapes against polished flooring. The miniatures are often gone- perhaps a longย excursion to behold the spectacle. Ahkmenrah recovers his distant memory in its blurry haze, waking it under the spray of rain. He watches through a window or by the door with that same uncertain storm. It is Nubia who returns to him and who guides him away from harm. During a thunderstorm, Ahkmenrah will always be found waitingย alongside his watchful guard, reliving a memory with her at his side.ย
Preferred Lettering.
Although the young pharaoh still avidly learns, he is greatly fond of literature, often skimming its compositions for illustrations. Should someone pass him by, the eyes of the pharaoh, each term he reads begins with the letter โMโ (Hence the name decided for the mun.) It matters not what text adorns literature, it is graced of a quiet and ineptly articulated โMmโโ something sharp in his tone. Itโs made unknown if Ahkmenrah is aware of the compulsion.
Stress
Although prone to keeping all plights to himself, there are circumstances necessitating his unease. When excessively stressed, Ahkmenrah will stop everything prompting his focus at once and pace back and forth, muttering to himself in rapid-fire Coptic. A hand raises often to the chin, and in his pacing, he is ever expressive. With a voice soft, he loses himself in thought- often wandering a purposeless trail to seek his solution. Gaze downcast, the brows furrow and akin to a child, he appears to even pout should he believe himself from onlookers.
Pronunciation
With an ambition to learn, Ahkmenrah has amassed a strong vocabulary of many languages. From Spanish, Hunnic, to English, he can pick up on the phonetics to rightly translate. The English language, however, is most complex to him. It is because of this, that there are certain words he can never pronounce properly.
There is a marked effort in pronunciation, a moment of such focus. Brows crease, and he will often disassociate himself from discussion. Fierce determination shapes his features and upon the articulation, conventional or poor, a look of immeasurable pride reaches him.

Holidays
Education is vastly important to Ahkmenrah. The modern world is both daunting and exciting. All holidays, no matter how insignificant to men of today, are monuments to him. To ensure comparable excitement, he will often attempt to follow each and every custom, excitedly encouraging his company alongside to experience these wonders. The joy can be infectious. The ineptitude alone can be endearing. Excitement upon completion of a simple task, (building gingerbread houses being one of them) or miscomprehension, he strives to ensure each festivity be met with cooperation most memorable.
Sweets
Ahkmenrah dearly favors โedible shapesโ (Sour Patch Kids). He will exhaustively search packages, many at a time to achieve the preferred flavors. With the blue reaching adoration, the pharaoh will often seek figures he is closest with to share these blue shapes. It is a feast and it must be bestowed upon those most important to him.
โEverything has come to life. All because of this tablet.โ
Museums
Lancelot
It took him time to realize that he is not alive. The pain of realization turned him desperate to understand his purpose in life. It is with the aid of fellow exhibits that it dawns on him that he is given life to find his purpose. He did steal the tablet at some point as well...
Amelia Earhart
He has heard of her only by name. Such bold nature precedes her person. Infectious moxie carries her through all halls of the exhibits. She joins in on the fun and protects the tablet of Ahkmenrah.
Jedediah Smith
His ideas are often reckless. For a miniature figurine, his voice is often loudest. It is often because of him that the museum is never fully quiet.
Octavius
The voice of reason to Jedediah, Octavius is rarely observed without him. The dynamic duo always supply the exhibits with ideas and (poor) assistance to any problem -- assuming they are the ultimate cause of said problem.
Larry Daley (Needed)
Larry is the reason for change throughout the museum. Conflicts among exhibits were touched upon, observed, and handled little by little. It is by his tremulous hand that Ahkmenrah was set free from the confines of his sarcophagus. The first friend of the new world, Larry joins Ahkmenrah in many chaos bound excursions.
Sacagawea (Needed)
Due to their similar circumstances of confinement, Ahkmenrah and Sacagawea have a general understanding of what it feels like. This connection aids in a concrete relationship. Her gentle nature is why she is perceived as the 'mother' figure within the museum.
Family
Jerry
A life was experienced long ago for both parties. A figure of affection in the past remains a part of their past. Jerry is observed as the last significant other of the fourth king. With the tablet under close vigilance, the world can be experienced without separation. Unlikely figures have found their place, and it is with the truest of smiles that Ahkmenrah can live the life he was deprived of.
Nubia
She was deemed one of Ahkmenrah's earliest and dearest friends in life. She ultimately serves as Ahkmenrah's closest guard, tasked with preserving him at all costs. When his life was cut short, he woke once more to the familiar face still at his side. He intends to understand what happened to his friend when they last parted.
First Queen
Thousands of years in the past, Ahkmenrah observed his queen with high reverence and adoration. She was promised to him, and she assigned herself to the role with a primness so becoming, and he regarded her with the truest of smiles. He is not entirely aware of what happened to her following his death, but there is hope that he will be graced with her face once more.
Kahmunrah
There is a defined strain between brothers. There was tension in life, and that powerful tension guided Kahmunrah to the grim decision to end the life of his brother. Four thousand years pass before Ahkmenrah is graced with that very familiar face.
Shepseheret (Needed)
The glittering jewel of the nile has treated the pharaoh with endless adoration. It is by her good nature that he adopts such behavior towards his people. It is becoming of a ruler to remain serene and poised under pressure.
Merenkahre (Needed)
A powerful pharaoh, descendent of Ra, Merenkahre ruled his kingdom with deserved attention. Ahkmenrah values his father's words, absorbing every lesson with interest. He aimed to always rule in a similar manner.
Comments Halls within the museum are gifted with wild versatility.
Semi-regular complaints would filter in about the Gift Shop often left in ruins. How much trouble could a nightguard cause in a single night?
The reconstruction was inevitable, and the Hall of Fictional Monsters it became.
The new wing of the museum was constructed as space for visitors to rest tired feet. Aimless and intrepid children disperse, clambering for a closer look at the ashes of a real vampire. Feedback seemed relatively stale, but the exhibit remained.
Under the tenebrous glow of the tablet, the new exhibit would wake to a patient Ahkmenrah. There were gentle words of reassurance; there was even partial joy in seeing someone similar.
Although first encounters were not handled with shared enthusiasm, Ahkmenrah encouraged the newest exhibit to take his time when adapting to life anew. It was the first time in many a moon in which he could speak with someone who also died each and every sunrise. After all, dead is their natural state within the museum.
As time progressed, bestowals were exchanged between the two exhibits. Soon, Jerry began to show Ahkmenrah the world, having lived so long. Adoration developed and shared among the two undead, and favor set upon Jerry. He lives vicariously through the king, and Ahkmenrah began turning to Jerry for newer adventures. Through the years, night after night of interactions and excursions, fondness was discovered.
Every Christmas, each gift became all the more profound, all the more sentimental. When Ahkmenrah bestowed upon Jerry the wrist cuff worn only by the ruler, the smile seemed different.

โyou are the light and the way that they'll only read about.โ
Thank you for everything Larry, Guardian of Brooklyn
The 'new world'
University of Cambridge
Upon his first breath of new life, Ahkmenrah lives primarily within the confines of Cambridge University. Unable to speak such foreign languages, the great pharaoh struggles to comprehend the evolution of his surroundings in this new world.
Ahkmenrah is once again reintroduced to how the world has changed following his years locked away. With apprehension of a few languages, he searches for a few answers and intends to keep his tablet close by.
Ahkmenrah's tablet, the artifact that grants life, begins to corrode. It becomes very apparent that it is necessary to travel to the British Museum to discuss the meaning of this corrosion with the former rules of Egypt - Ahkmenrah's parents.
Each night is to be treasured. Adventure waits all at every turn.

Darcy Lewis
A thankless job of watching after a young Nick Daley turns to something far more entertaining. A wild secret of a magical tablet tempts quite the lifted brow, perhaps an indulgent smile. It is when she beholds the artifact and exhibits in person that her nights turn all the more adventurous. Exhibits greet her with similar fascination and it is Ahkmenrah that graces her with the interests in exploring all that New York has to offer. Their escapades will be memorable

Sacagawea
A theme of captivity explored. Her life and surroundings are known best through the slim confines behind glass. Printless hands roam the obstruction locking her inside, and she treats the exhibits of Lewis and Clark with selfsame pity. She is greeted by Ahkmenrah upon his first day within the museum. Their story starts upon their first night.
Luca
When a newly hired night guard scurries away, the door is pried open by the more mischievous exhibits. An unfamiliar face emerges through parted doors and is assumed to be the newest security guard. Exhibits teeming with curiosity approach, and Ahkmenrah is among them.
Loki
Norse Mythology fascinates all. A temporary wing is constructed. Loki is newly animated by the tablet and greeted first by Ahkmenrah.
