In 1976 Hogwarts was booming. The hippie-flower power days of the 70s were in full swing and a band of magical misfits decided that this was how they wanted to live the rest of their lives. They wanted to run free in the forestโeven with the gossip and hearsay about a werewolf looming aroundโthey wanted to rule the village that they called home and the castleโฆ Hogwarts castle was theirs and theirs alone. The mere thought that future generations would be walking those halls was unthinkable. The band of magical misfits worked together under cover of darknessโoften in Aberforthโs pubโto create a rip in the time space continuum that would allow it to happen.
In 1996 they perfected the magic. Twenty years on, but something was wrong with itโฆ it didnโt quite work in the way that they wanted it to work. They wanted to go back to the way it was, to stay in their teens and live their best livesโฆ and it sent them back in time alright, back to the right time, the right mindsetโฆ but it didnโt just send them back.
Their own children were sent back to a time that was utterly confusing for them. Bellatrix Black, terrifying death eater as an adultโstill sh*t scary, but a teenager was more than some of them could take. Imagine James Potter having to explain to his son Harry, who was around the same age โI am your father but some magical misfits screwed with timeโlets be friendsโ it was a nightmare.

Gabrielle sat and glanced around the store. A sudden wave of paranoia washed over her and she had to keep glancing, making sure she had an exit. Why did the witch need to leave, was Pansy not in the store? Something was wrong. She let her features remain still, nothing of her wretched thoughts showed on her face. She tried to keep her body still, the moment she had sat down she had casually thrown one leg over the other. But her right foot would not stop tapping against the chair. If Pansy did not appear soon, Gabrielle feared she would bolt out of the pretty boutique and her whole mission would be for nought. ย
Hearing her name, Gabrielle stood. She calmed a little as Pansy appeared before her. She stared at the hand in front of her for longer than seemed reasonable. Yes, the English did prefer a good handshake as a greeting. โBonjour darling.โ She finally said, taking Pansyโs hand and giving it a rather dismal weak shake. She would have preferred the usual cheek kiss but that was the French greeting, and she knew from previous encounters with her English friends that it was often off-putting for a first meeting, even between people who had met before. ย
โI just had to come to your store.โ Gabrielle took one more look around; it was getting busier by the minute. The queue for the change rooms was almost unbearable!ย โI have been here before of course. A linen blazer I think I purchased last autumn. But it was only recently that I knew it was your empire. Congratulations.โ Was Gabrielle over doing it? The praise might have been too much, but Pansy was a true fashion girlie, she would appreciate any thing Gabrielle had to say about clothes she was sure of it. ย
Gabrielle stepped back to the sitting area she was just been at it. She shuffled her bum to get comfortable and threw one leg over the other again. She rubbed the seat next to her, asking Pansy to join her. She again smiled, this time not too broad, giving just a hint of teeth. A friendly smile, offering friendship, a respite from whatever it was a boutique owner did during the day. ย
โYou must be so proud of yourself.โ She praised the brunette again, speaking somewhat quietly so that Pansy would have to come closer. โPerhaps we can celebrate, a drink, I shall buy us some macarons?โ Gabrielle breathed deeply. She had done her bit, the ball, as the phrase went, was entirely in Pansyโs court.ย ย
