Voldemort was anything but kind, and he did not hesitate when it came to the male wanting to join his ranks. He looked at young Draco, and he could see the shiver behind who he was. He didn't know if he would be able to withstand what happened within the followers that Voldemort manageed to choose.ย

However, something told him that Draco would remain afraid, and that was something that turned Voldemort off more than anything. He looked at the male, and he scoffed. Hermione Granger stood at the entrance to Hogwarts. Now thirty years old, it seemed only yesterday she had been a student there. She looked up, up to the tower where she had sent many an owl to her parents, missing them, especially her first year before Harry and Ron had accepted her as their friend. She sighed softly, and let out a giggle at the thought of her bossiness, and their reactions to it. And wiped away a little tear thinking of her shame when she overheard Ron say, "She's a nightmare, honestly, no wonder she hasn't got any friends." Thank goodness they'd come to her aid in the girl's bathroom that night, or her story might have been cut short, then and there. She thought she certainly had proven that she was a good friend, loyal until the very end. And so had they.
Yes, the stone steps were the same as before, only, they'd been repaired after the Battle of Hogwarts and you could see the repairs. It somehow made the castle look even more formidable. As she was there for their reunion, she wondered how she would feel when she saw everyone. As she walked into the corridor toward the Great Hall, she heard voices, low voices where once she remembered higher pitched tones bouncing through the halls. She was early; as usual one of the first to arrive at any gathering. She was working toward being the Minister for Magic, and was working in the current Minister's office, so she nodded and smiled politely as she saw a few faces she recognized.
The new Headmaster began to speak. "Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for coming to the Hogwarts reunion. For the most people to be able to enjoy the evening's festivities, we made this an all-year reunion; therefore you will see many people not just from your own class, but from before, and after it as well! Time to drink up, enjoy the vittles, and see your way to making this a night one will never forget. Happy Reunion day, alumnus!"
Hermione had just sat down at the Gryffindor table; magically extended as all the House tables were to accomodate all the people who had arrived. She turned and saw unmistakable blond hair at the Slytherin Table...she wondered if the years had softened their rivalry. She genuinely hoped so. Things said in school were still difficult to get over and stung somewhat; but the passage of time and successes in her life made them less so.ย
After dinner, everyone mingled and reintroduced each other, some not having seen each other since the War, or if they returned, since they graduated. A voice she thought she remembered sounded from behind her. The garden was lovely in mid-evening, the smell of roses and damp grass coupled with the chilly night of the first days of Fall greeted them.
Hermione shook against the restraints that held her bound to Harry and Ron respectively. She knew that this was a possibility โ to be caught by Lord Voldemortโs followers. She knew that they were racing against the clock when it came to defeating the Horcruxes and that Voldemort surely had to realize by now that they had already defeated one. The locket was destroyed, along with that part of Voldemortโs soul. Now Hermione was being cut free from the other prisoners and Bellatrix was yanking her forward by the root of her hair. She hissed against the sharp pull of pain she felt but she knew that was nothing compared to what Bellatrix had in store for her.
Flinging her down onto the ground, Bellatrix towered over her as she breathed heavily, chest falling and rising rapidly. She shot a glance at Malfoy โ surely he wouldnโt let this happen. He wasnโt her favorite person but he wouldnโt โ couldnโt โ let her get tortured, could he? She didnโt have the answer to the questions that were racing around her mind and then Bellatrix was speaking to her in harsh tones. โWhy were you in my vault, Mudblood?โ Hermione knew she had to lie. That Bellatrix couldnโt know the sword of Gryffindor was real. Mind racing a mile a minute, she had already concluded the sword in Bellatrixโs vault at Gringotts was a fake. A fake that Voldemort thought was real. โCRUCIO!โ

Hermione screamed against the onslaught of pain she felt. She knew that Bellatrix despised witches like herself โ of muggle heritage โ and she was going to do whatever it took to make sure that her and Harry and Ron hadnโt broken into her vault. โItโs a copy! J-Just a c-copy!โ Hermione cried, breathing deeply through the fire-like feeling running through her. Faintly, she remembered something Professor Moody โ the imposter โ had told them the day he taught them about Unforgivable Curses. He had said that when the Cruciatus โ used correctly โ was applied against another human, you didnโt need thumbscrews to torture a person. Hermione agreed with that statement.
โA copy? You lying Mudblood! You were in my vault werenโt you? WERENโT YOU?! ANSWER ME! CRUCIO!โ Bellatrixโs voice was nothing more than a sharp scream and Hermione screamed out, kicking out her legs as pain ran through her. Tears had obscured her vision and she could vaguely hear Ron yelling for her. She didnโt want to focus on the intense pain her body was undergoing, so she thought about Harry and Ron; how they were fighting for the right said.
โPlease!โ Hermione screamed, long and drawn-out. She shook like a leaf in a thunderstorm. The pain was unimaginable and she knew that Bellatrix was only getting started.
โYou dirty little thief!โ Bellatrix screamed, eyes popping madly in the second Hermione opened her eyes. She shut them again as Bellatrix pointed her wand at her. โCrucio! Tell me the TRUTH!โ
