You might think you know my story for it has been told throughout time and long since become a myth,a play and apart of history but that is not my story. When one hears my name they think of betrayal,heartbrake,forbidden love,madness and a kingdome lost but my story is so much more than just that.
I was always a willful child growing up and my brother was always studying with the other boys. He tought me to read and write and about science that was in his words the way of all knowlage. I loved to play with the other kids and get myself dirty while doing so.
My father was the king and queen's advisor and so both myself and my brother grew up in the castle and around it's grounds. One day I heard someone speaking to the king and queen and saw it was the king's brother after they saw a play and he told everyone that it was the apple that seduced Eve to take it but then I piped up and said that the apple was innocent and that got the king and queen's interest as well as the young Hamlet.
The queen took one look at me and made me one of her many Ladies In Waiting even though I was not of royal blood like the others were and thus I was raised an educaited as such.
The other girls always looked down on me and spoke beind my back,but I found it useful to be invisible in the court because that's how secrets are found out and one never gets into trouble.
One night after the queen's bath she said she needed someone to read to her and of course all the others said they didn't know how but I spoke up and told her that I did and thus she had all the others leave and she told me a bit about her past and that she was once picked on too but her sister was there to defend her.
I read the book and noticed it wasn't the bible but in fact a story of romance and a man courting after a woman and once she fell asleep I tucked her in and left the room.
There was a ball after that to celebrate Hamlet's return from his studies and in that ball the queen danced with the king's brother but no one seemed to mind that fact.
I first met Hamlet when I was bathing in the river and he came with his friend to go fishing and when he saw me he called me a fish and I asked him if I can come to land and he agreed and then I told him he had two sides within himself that are at odds with each other and he laughed saying that I told his fortune but I simply stated that it was his missfortune I then got out of the water and then I left them be.
The next time we met all the other Ladies In Waiting and the queen while we looked at a quilt that had the godess Diana with her arrows by her side and the girls all said it was the hunter's bow and arrows but I told them what it was and when Hamlet came over I told them the story of the hunter who watched her baith and was punished by being turned into a stag and torn apart and Hamlet asked if that seemed fair and he argued that perhaps it should have been different and then was embaressed when one of the ladies said it was of his mother's likeness.
The queen later ran off and I followed her and in that time of hiding I saw her talk to and kiss the king's brother,but I kept that fact to myself of course.
One day the guards called out 'long live the king' and I was confused so I asked one of the other ladies and she told me that the king was poisoned by a snake bite and that he was dead and of course his brother seized the throne after that which made Hamlet angry.
The queen sent me to get her healing potion and there I met her twin sister who was known as a witch and she told me that she had loved a man once but then she lost a child and the people turned on her wanting to burn her and thus she took a tonic that mimics death but with the right antidode it never kills and she gave me what her sister asked for and so I went back with it.
I eventually found out that the new king had poisoned his brother with something he got from the 'witch' but I kept that to myself until Hamlet was able to get it out of me and that made him angry but I told him to not take revenge for now and he listened.
As time went by Hamlet asked for my hand in marrige and we were wed in secret in a small village and since that moment we kept meeting in secret but then one day the king found out and tried to use me against my love and thus I told him they were watching in secret and made it seem like I don't love him and yet they didn't fall for it.
After that moment he had me promised to another that I did not love or even like for that matter and on the day I was to be wed I heard that Hamlet was dead and I almost jumped to my death but then his friend came to me and told me he was safe.
The king got me alone after that and he said he knows my secret to which in turn I replied the same thing and before he could try and kill me the man they wished me to marry found us and the king left,after that the man told me the king thinks me a betryer and I knew that meant he intended to kill me
My father was then killed by Hamlet thinking it to be his uncle because it was dark in the room and thus I made myself seem like a crazy person and the act worked and I left the castle with the queen following me and it was there that I took the witch's poison and I was thought to have killed myself in the river out of grief for my father.
Hamlet's friend then helped me out of the coffin they put me in and I woke but then I fled going to the witch once more and I told her it was the new king who put the people against her and wanted her death and so she wanted revenge for that and she gave me the cure and I lay on her bed.
In the morning the queen came to the place and saw me thinking I was a spirit and I told her I knew that she helped the new king poison his brother and she broke down saying she never meant him to do so and I told her it was her new king who her twin sister loved and betrayed her and the queen was shocked by that and asked for me to obsolve her but when touched my hands she knew I was alive she hugged me and after that she told me that Hamlet was saddened by my death and that he was to fight my brother in a duel and I said I need to stop it and she said I would be killed but then I reminded her that everyone already thought me dead and so she cut my hair to allow me to sneak into the castle pretending to be a boy and stop the duel between my brother and my husband.
I went there to stop it but Hamlet wouldn't listen and so the duel went on and I left the castle never looking back and I got refuge with the nuns in the place the queen once grew up in.
It was there that I gave birth to Hamlet's daughter and raised her on my own with the nuns help as well.
Now you know the truth behind my story and you see it is nothing like the stories told. Oh ya one last thing when the witch gave me the cure she mixed other things in there making me immortal though I am not sure if she did so on perpus or it was an unseen side effect of the cure.
