The sound of a chuckle reached her ears forcing the hair on the back of her neck to stand on end. So he wasn’t dead which for some reason gave her a sense of relief. Why do I care? Frost asked herself but not even Caitlin had a response for her. Glowing white eyes darted around the space trying to even get a glance of where the male was. It was never a good idea to have your back to a villain even if they did have a common enemy. Slowly Slade appeared within the spot light of moon beams that seemed to make him glow a deep red like he was ignited on fire just waiting to consume all that was around them and turn it to ash. Caitlin was in awe at the sight of the seemingly well built man before them but Frost simply rolled her eyes. Anything to make an entrance.

Frost folded her arms as he called her sweetheart, an obvious sign of her carelessness towards the situation. If you don’t care, why did we come? Caitlin asked her curiosity to seep into her mind and made Frost shut her down that much quicker. The helmet came off leaving Slade in full view of her icy gaze as he moved closer to her. There was no fear in her eyes and even as he shortened the distance between them. The blood on his lip showed signs of the struggle they had seen on tv just a few hours before. The healing had not started to piece the flesh back together again. “I came to see if you were left in one piece,” Frost said, trying to ignore how small the distance between them was getting despite Caitlin being very aware of it. Her eyes closed as the graining feel of the filth on his fingers were rubbed into her cold skin but she didn’t turn away. Her tongue swept across blue lips as he pulled away and her eyes opened once more.

Laughter bubbled up and escaped her throat as Slade mentioned her jumping sides, it was too obscene not to be funny. “Of course not,” Frost spoke, a soft fog flowy from her lips as her eyes watched him intently. The feeling of his warm breath against her ear caused her to shiver from the temperature difference before it was gone once more. The mention of Caitlin made them both tense, his eyes bearing into her own as Caitlin wiggled in the back of her head at the sudden attention. Frost didn’t care if the attention was on her but her counterpart was a little more shy about it. “Caitlin is...indifferent to the ordeal.” she said lying slightly as she could feel the redhead’s nerves shoving adrenaline through their body as his hand touched her hip once more. “Does it matter why I came? I came like I said to make sure you weren’t dead.” Her words fell flat not holding the same confidence they once did as he moved around her.

“If you don’t want me here I can take my leave.”

The tapping sound of the heels on her black boots hitting concrete echoed through the empty warehouse. The leather of her jacket floated gracefully behind her, a grace she herself never possessed when she was Caitlin Snow. A name like Snow and you weren’t graceful? Killer frost thought sarcastically as they walked. She could feel the redhead getting annoyed at her commentary about Caitlin’s lack of finesse when it pertained to gravity. Luckily for you, I’m here now to make you look awesome Frost thought pridefully as they went deeper into the building.

There may have been a time when the building was practical but today seeing the light shining through the broken windows, the building felt as if it could collapse around her in an instant. Why would he be here? Caitlin asked instantly, wanting them to get as far from the place as possible. Frost ignored her as she continued her search of the dusty area for any signs that the person they were looking for was here. The blonde was surprised to feel the worry that was coming from the back of her mind. There was no doubt that both women were worried about him after what the news had said but it did surprise her that Caitlin would care at all.

“I know you’re here licking your wounds,” Frost called out, making Caitlin mentally kick her for speak out. Her words echoed off the high rusted beams but the sound of her own voice was the only answer she got. Aggravation instantly hit Frost like a ton of bricks which only made her hands begin to fog and the floor under her to freeze despite the summer air wafting through the empty spack. You need to calm down… The other woman warned but it was to no avail. “Damn it Slade get out here before I put this partnership on ice!”

PREY TURNED HUNTER
"There is a fine line between hatred and love."
Slam! The bat came into contact with the cluttered shelf sending multiple things flying while breaking a few others. Angry screams escaped the blonde while tears streaked her face causing the colored make up to run in rivers of pink and blue down her face. Her arms let the bat touch the floor for a moment while she allowed the sobs to over take her for a moment before another wave of rage washed over her causing another swing to shower her in glass and other debris.

“That mother f***er!” she screamed as Harley lifted the bat slamming it into the pictures she had lining her wall of the clown villain that terrorized Gotham City. He was the most notorious and the most deadly yet Harleen was caught up in his web so easily. Pathetic is what he called her. Such a word for a woman who graduated from college top of her class in Psychology and became one of the best therapists at the Arkham Asylum. Yeah now look at you The inner voice of Harleen spoke but she was quieter than she had been for the past few years. Even she was hurting from the turn of events that had transpired.

Harley ignored the woman instead took her anger out on the apartment she had made for herself in the pretty much abandoned building. Harleen had once hoped to cure the man known as the Joker and even as Harley Quinn she wanted the same. Now she knew that could never happen. That the man she had spoken to many times within the Asylum that seemed to be getting cured of his madness had only tricked Harleen into believing her treatment was working. “Bastard!” The blonde screamed, smashing yet another wall of pictures sending them flying through the air before crashing to the floor in a pile of glass.

“I’ll show him!” Harley growled picking up her phone as she punched in the number Harleen had remembered from her time at the Asylum. “If Puddin doesn’t wanna be with me...then no one will have him.” She said the pain in her heart turned to anger as an eerie smile broke across her lips. Placing the phone to her ear, Harley watched as her hand rotated the bat at her side toying with the wooden instrument as the ringing began. She began to skip slightly as she walked along the halls of her apartment waiting for the man to pick up. Soon the ringing stopped and a husky voice answered on the other line. Her grin stretched further than any human grin should have.

“Mr. J has been a naughty boy....wanna help me put him in time out?” Harley growled the last words as she swung the bat again this time lodging it into the wall. There was no answer on the other line just a sound of keys and then the line went dead. Harley hung up the phone, throwing it to the bed beside her before she ripped her bat from the wall. “Oh Mr. J...you brought this on yourself.” She cooed to herself as she stared at the picture of her and the Joker that hung on the wall just above her bed. “Let’s see who’s the real nightmare is.” A laugh left her lips as she heard the door to her apartment open. Turning on her heel almost with dancer-like grace, Harley skipped out of the room seeing the tall frame of the man that was going to help her. “SLADE!” She smiled as if greeting a long forgotten friend. “It’s been a while, care for a cup of violence?”

Raven"I am Pride; the Sin from which all others originated."
Enemies Not Allies Slade Wilson.

Hailed as the worlds most deadliest assassin, Raven knew him in a far darker sense. She had come up against him within her time with the Titans when he had taken up position as her father's second in command upon his attack on Earth. Why, she never cared to ask. Surely though there had to be either something in it for him, or something her father was no holding over him. As soon as her father was placed back within his prison it seemed 'Deathstroke' had gone about his way, adding only more lives to his roaster.

It wasn't that Rachel didn't care, of course, but it was a different time. A time she preferred to leave behind. She had never expected to see him again, let alone in Star City where she often frequented due to her growing comraderie with Oliver Queen. To know he was there, and causing problems, well.. she could have just gone straight to the emerald archer herself. Not that she knew their history together, but this was his city after all. However, Slade Wilson and she had at least a small bout of history and if he was causing un-needed issues, it was best to see to them quickly, silently and finally. Perhaps then he would either be no more, or he would leave and not return.

Tracking him was the more difficult part. Surely she had been around him before and through that she could track him emotionally like a tattered thread that threatened to snap but hung on by the fibers that knotted with each other. This was, after all, what brought her to him afterall.

She had almost lost the trail of him until he had come across those whom had left behind the blood that she could still feel cold on her fingertips. It seemed to ignite some renewed thrill in him to kill, if not to just piss someone off. When she had sensed him, it had seemed she was far too late to truly stop any such battle from taking place.

Appearing within the shadows of the room in which the engagement took place, it already had the looming copper smell of blood and steel in the air. Was there an inner desire to stop such bloodshed and end what had started here prematurely, of course. However, she could not help but think back once more to the cold concrete she touched and what visions she had seen. How many more had they killed in search for Slade? How made more would come until this stopped..  Perhaps that bit of darkness in her was what allowed it to continue. Oliver had begun teaching her that there was more to a battle then the end result being death. However, she feared nothing would stop these men from committing more such heinous acts then death itself.

As the final body fell and the assassin deemed 'Deathstroke' seemed satisied with himself. She took a slow inhale of air, readying her nerve. Only then did she place a foot into the light, far across the room from him as she revealed herself, and the billowing hooded cape she wore about her body. Truth, her clothing choices had been made to blend in far more easily to the surrounding comunity but that cape was never far from her shoulders. A comfort, perhaps, in who she was and her own mark to hide her from the world in the form of a hood.

Stepping into the light, she lifted her hands, removing the hood that cast her face in shadow, the illumination in the area casted upon shining amethysts. A look not welcoming of the enemy, but one that spoke tales of their encounters together. Assassin or not.. while she looked like nothing more then a small young woman standing across from a giant, she was not to be underestimated, and surely this fearful man knew that. Not that he feared anyone. She need not be feared. Only to be known. And he certainly did that.

"Hello Slade Wilson.. You should not have come."

The moments of stillness after a crime scene had been raided and pillaged by police and investigators was an eerie sort of time. The area was calm, quiet like a ghost town. It was a time where the memories of the moment began to fade away into the abyss and time rolled in like a wave to wash it all away. For those who passed by the alley behind the restaurant and saw the area crossed off with the symbolic, yellow crime scene tape.. All they could do was wonder what happened. Their human curiosity dwelling on a single point in time. However, the moment was as fleeting as their footsteps and in mere seconds, the scene was no longer thought of at all. Forgotten. All that would remain was the tape, the marks on the ground, and a file on someone’s desk that gathered ink marks and dust. Victims, lying in wait in a cold hospital morgue, in hopes that someone might claim their identities and they might forever be put to rest.

There were things, however, that outlived the heat of the moment. Energies that pulsed behind the fabric of time and circumstance. Breadcrumbs, one might say, were there for those who knew how to find them. Who knew how to read them. Who knew.. How to feel them.

Energy was not something that pulsed and vanished. It lingered. It left a mark scorched into the air and that mark was a beacon to some that there was a story there. There were answers that no one else would see. Emotion was a strong energy; especially in the last, fleeting moments of someone’s life. There was an intense burn that could not simply be cleansed away by those whose job it was to make the scene of the crime look as though it had never been touched by death, darkness, or blood at all.

As the headlights appeared and then faded on a passing car on the streetway, a figure emerged from the shadows across the way from the restaurant that would not open the next day, if ever again. Boots clicked on the ground as the figure made her way across the road, her feminine body shrouded in the dark purple shadow of her cloak and hood as she slipped through the space between tape strips. The evening was late enough that no one would be around and, considering what it was she was doing, she preferred it that way. Of course, when did she ever prefer an abundance of people?

The marks of blood on the filthy, black alley floor were still there. While it didn’t matter to her what time she arrived, she had come the night before the cleaning crew, only a few hours after the crowd had dissipated. She had been following a lead and while she had gotten here far too late to save the souls who were now released by death, she had to figure out why it was happening. This instance was similar to that of one she had heard of not but a pair of nights ago and that, in itself, meant this had gone on too long.

Violet-tinted eyes slowly surveyed the area for anything that might have been left behind. While the police were thorough, humans often failed to see things right in front of them, however this time it seemed there was not much left to be forgotten. Turning on her heel, she faced the entrance to the alley and slowly swept a pale hand upward. A wall of shadow climbed around the entrance of the area, behind the lines of yellow tape to make it appear as though the alley was far too dark to see into. She didn’t need onlookers for what she was about to do.

Lifting her hands then, she grasped the edges of her purple hood and laid it back against her shoulders as she crouched down over the blood-stained area, placing a knee clad in black gently on the ground at the stain's edge. Closing her eyes, she focused. It was not the easiest feat, to find the memory of an emotion. It was far easier when that memory belonged to someone still alive, as it had a stronger connection to the living world, but still it could be done. It was simply all about finding those marks in the void between the living and the dead. Maneuvering her way through every thought and feeling that had passed by this area, narrowing it down to moments in time. Years, months, weeks, days, until..

“Found you..”

She whispered in the cool air of the night. With a sharp gasp, the moment was entered and her head flung back. Eyes closed as the scene itself lay before her through the eyes of the victim.

~~

"Please.. I don’t know anything! "

The heavy boots of several men moved in closer and the fear began to rise. She could feel the sting in the victim's eyes, the tightness in his body as he feared for his life and thought of his wife and children.

"We saw him around here earlier this evening. He had business around here, where is he!? "

Those voices. Unfamiliar but there was something about the lingering energy that seemed as though she might have felt something like it before.

"You’ve got the wrong person! Please! I have a family.."

"Don’t they all. News flash for you.. Families live on after you’re dead."

The gunshot went off and the scene went black but the emotions lingered. The mind, picking up what was going on around it as it slowly began to fade and sizzle out like a dying flame.

"Deathstroke was around here. We have that intel.. We’re close. He won’t get away again."

~~

As the last remaining remnants of life left the body of the victim, Raven had to force herself from the moment, lest she feel the cold brush of death herself, as if it were looming over her shoulders with a sickle to her throat. It would not take her, but the feeling itself was not one she enjoyed.

She gasped, yanking herself away as those eyes, once violet, shot open and stared up into the moonlight in the shadow of a passionate black. Shadows forming beneath her eyes for a moment before the black faded away and her hue returned to normal. She lowered her head from its drawn back position and her smooth features returned to a look of solemn expression.

She knew where she needed to go now. Where this trail of breadcrumbs was leading and if she had to admit it, she was hardly shocked. It was not a name she had heard in a while, nor one she expected to pass through her lips but there it was. However, it did.. With a bit more bitterness to its taste then she would have cared to admit.

Slade.”

Lifting her hands to grasp the edges of her hood again, she pulled it over her unique, violet hair and let the comfort of its shadow veil over her once more as she stood from the ground. She turned toward the wall in the back of the alley and the echo of her boots carried her right toward it until there was no more echo at all. With nothing more to do here, she was gone as quickly and as quietly as she came. As she vanished into the shadows on the wall, choosing another means of transportation through darkness and dimension, the magic cast to keep prying eyes from the alleyway faded and once more it seemed as though time would eventually.. forget.
