A good-humored former student of the elusive Baoshen Sanren and the thematic partner of Song Lan, despite their parting of ways. Xiao Xingchen is the third of Baoshen Sanren's students to leave her mountain for the mortal world with the intention to help save it from the evils that plague it. He's selfless enough to have given his eyes to Song Lan when his were blinded by a dirty trick, and determined enough to overcome the concurrent self-afflicted blindness to continue doing what he set out to do. He is intelligent and observant of others, but one could say that he is a little too trusting of perceived strangers--he seems to assume the best of those around him, for better or for worse.
