Jessie Stanley stood in front of his friend, Jacob Black, slightly nervous, but a happy nervous feeling. "Soooo I always love lots of fun with you. You and I should go on a road trip sometime. Even if its only for a weekend. Besides I know that you have your duties and probably can't get away too often. Your pack could manage without you for a weekend right?"Jessie asked, hopping up onto his feet excitedly, while rubbing his hands together, a large grin on his face. "We could go anywhere we want, hell even if its lame and we decide to just go to another city. I've been saving money up, been wanting to go on a mini vacation, just this way it'll be so much more exciting!"
"What do you say? Will you go away with me?"He asked, placing his hands into his pockets now. "is that something you would want to do, or would I drive you crazy if all you had for company was lil ole me?"He asked, chuckling slightly. "I'll try to not be as big of a bitch as normally and will make sure that you have fun with me."He added, "And I'll be super nice so that I don't make you want to kill me."He chuckled.
It had been a long ass time since he had seen Jacob Black, his last memory of him were of the pack chasing him through the country side before his thoughts could no longer be heard and his wolf long gone from their sight. Their fight was still fresh on his mind, having just happened a couple weeks prior, Embry feeling a twinge of regret as the rest of the pack sat around a bonfire and tried to discuss their options.
He knew what he said was harsh but he couldn't find it in himself to care at the time, his only reasoning was to somehow snap Jake out of this Bella cycle. She had somehow sunk her claws into Jake and even though they weren't exactly close, he was pack and Embry knew his pack brother deserved better than the leech lover.
Days turned into weeks then into months. Embry and the rest of the guys eventually falling into a routine. The Cullen's had suddenly packed up and moved a week after the wedding, the rez celebrating for days when they found out. They still patrolled just in case of nomadic leeches but for the most part, the pack got to relax and actually live their lives. The younger wolves got to be kids again sort of and the older wolves got to go back to the lives they had abandoned. Embry had taken the changes in stride, getting his GED before starting online business classes. He helped around at Billy's, steering clear of him and his mom as things became serious between them. He could tell that Billy missed Jake and for his sake, he hoped that he would return one day. What he didn't see coming was that day happening sooner rather than later.
Of all the things Embry thought would be at his door, Jacob Black was not one of them. Blinking in slight confusion, Embry could only nod before opening the door to allow him inside. "Come inside, man. It's....sh*t, it's been awhile."he said.
Bella looked over at Jacob, and his own nervousness calmed her nerves. She bit her bottom lip before giving him a reassuring smile, "hey, don't worry. Other than me embarrassing us by falling down, I don't think we have anything to worry about." Her arm slowly slid around his as they walked inside the gym. It had been transformed into this twinkling fairy wonderland. Bella found Angela and gave her a look of 'it looks amazing' then turned back to Jake. The old Bella would never have stepped foot in a gym, but something had changed in her. Nervously she gripped Jacob's arm and looked up at him. "Don't let me fall.." She whispered and walked out onto the dance floor with him.
Her arms laced around his neck, and slowly she started to move along to the music. Awkwardly, she stepped on Jake's foot, and her cheeks flushed a deep red. "I'm sorry." She said in a half laugh, "dancing with me is a life threatening ordeal." It was nice to be able to let everything go, to just get lost in the music and him. For the first time in a long time, Bella was happy. The dread of embarrassing herself or breaking Jake's leg by tripping over him was easily forgotten. "Jake, I wanted to tell you..." Bella started to say before her eyes caught the entrance. Fear slid down her spine like an icicle, and her finger dug slightly into Jake's shoulders. She assumed Jake had picked up their sent by his body language, and the fact that they stopped dancing. The Volturi apparently decided to make a field trip to her school. Jane's c*cky smile as she approached Jake and Bella lit an irritating fire in the pit of Bella's stomach. "What are you doing here?" Bella said harshly.
Jane looked from Bella to Jake before speaking. "Doing our homework. What we saw from Alice's visions about these.... /mutts/ wasn't enough to calm our worries. We came to check up on them. Make sure they're house trained." Jane said insultingly. "Why don't we speak outside. It would be a shame to kill all of these bystanders." Without giving them a chance to answer, Jane and the other walked out the back door and towards the woods.
Bella grabbed Jake's hand before he could follow. "Jake, they have abilities." She warned him as her eyes looked up at him. Fear was obvious when you looked into her eyes, but she wasn't afraid for herself. Bella didn't want anything to happen to Jake. "We have to be careful. And before you say anything else, yes. I'm coming with you." She said stubbornly, knowing he'd probably want her to stay in the gym. She stuck close to him as she walked out of the gym.
With crimson liquid dripping from his white fur around his snout and fangs, and tears falling from his big crystal glowing blue eyes, a painful roar coming from his throat, he ran as fast as he could away from the scene that he would never be able to erase from his mind, no matter what. His parents getting slaughtered by grizzly bears. He could still hear them, growling and whimpering in pain, as they tried their hardest to fight back, when they knew that they wouldn’t be able to survive. Tristen would do anything to turn back on his spot and run back those miles that he just ran to escape the scene. Tristen wanted to go help save his parents. The wolf wouldn’t though. How could he stupidly go back, when his parents begged for him to escape to save himself? They didn’t just beg, his father who was alpha of his pack, his family ordered him, and as much as he had wanted to, he knew he couldn’t disobey him.
The wolves heart was pounding in terror, his hooves pounding into the mud (it had rained the night before), as he continued to run faster, trying his hardest not to slip and fall into the mud, not wanting to stall in his getaway. His throat was starting to ache in agony from all of his painful howling, as he grieved for his loss, the wolf was also trying to call out to the rest of his pack, his wolf family, brothers, sisters, friends, their mates. Soon after he ran a few more miles, he felt like something strange was going to happen. Something foreign, that from the back of his mind seemed slightly familiar, he couldn’t put his right paw on what though. And then with a blink of an eye, mid howling, it happened. Instead of running away on his four paws, he was on two feet instead of four paws, and he was falling, and falling. Falling, well more like slipping to the ground, head first, into the mud, so that he was now flat against the ground.
Tristen didn’t know what had happened, or why he had gotten distracted enough to stumble into the mud, seeing as he was a wolf, and it wasn’t his first time running on the wet ground before. If his alpha or siblings, were around and saw him fall he would have been embarrassed. That last train of thought caused him to growl once again when he remembered what happened, just why he was running away, and stumbled hard into the mud. He tilted his head in confusion when he heard a different growling sound, from his wolf one. His growl sounded far less loud and scary. The wolves red, bloody petals turned into a puzzled frown.
Tristen placed his paws onto the ground, as he glanced downwards at them, but instead of white, muddy paws, he saw two creamy white hands, laying flat in the mud. His blue eyes traveled up his arms, then as he sat up, saw his legs and then glanced down and saw his chest. That’s when he whimpered once more, and then he fainted into the mud, from all of the trauma that happened tonight.
