About me: I'm Ruby Gomez. I'm eighteen and grew up in Houston Texas. My father, Javier, is a cop, with all the baggage that implies. He and my mom, Dona, split up when I was eleven. My brother Elian is a year younger than me, and very interested in electronics, new tech, and the mechanics of computers.
I grew up putting on a front, making it seem like I was more confident than I was. I was a dancer in high school, mostly to up my cool points and keep people from assuming I was a Mexican stereotype. I like to dance, but mostly for fun. What I'm really passionate about is photography.
My Mom bought me my first camera when I was in sixth grade, and I've been honing my skills ever since. I take commissions, and use digital cameras when asked, but I prefer shooting from a little Nikon modeled after one from the 90s. I guess I'm a hipster.
A few months ago, I applied to Oxford University's photography program, and only just got accepted. It was a whirlwind moving to England, but I'm here to start a new chapter.
I also like to cook. Classic Mexican fare with some of my own creative twists. But I only cook for my Dad, his side of the family, my brother, and my close friends.
