   Urdnot Grunt's Blurbs
About me:
Grunt was created on Korlus by the krogan warlord Okeer, who was originally investigating the genophage. However, Okeer gradually became obsessed with his work and realised that surviving the genophage had become the only benchmark for a good krogan, which was weakening the species as a whole. He decided to produce a genetically pure, superior krogan—a super soldier—and poured all his efforts into his experiments, even seeking help from the Collectors. After rejecting thousands of specimens as unworthy, Okeer finally produced his perfect prototype before he died from toxins released by Jedore, a Blue Suns mercenary. Commander Shepard, who had come to Korlus hoping to recruit Okeer, instead, recovered the super soldier's tank and took it aboard the Normandy SR-2. When Shepard chooses to release the super soldier from his tank, the newly awakened krogan pins Shepard to a wall and declares his intention to kill the Commander, though he desires a name before doing so. He chooses "Grunt", one of the last words in Okeer's final message, claiming, "It has no meaning. It'll do". Shepard either persuades Grunt to join the mission against the Collectors as it will be a good fight for Grunt, or shoots multiple times to subdue him. If Grunt accepts Shepard's offer, he then realizes that Shepard was pointing a gun at him all along, to which Grunt approves. Lacking a proper krogan upbringing, Grunt is both violent and highly unpredictable. He often becomes impatient and charges recklessly into the midst of his foes, (unlike more disciplined krogan fighters like Urdnot Wrex) without Shepard's orders. Despite his unpredictable and violent attitude, he is nonetheless considered a great asset to the mission thanks to his unsurpassed physical strength and fighting prowess. Grunt also harbors personal doubt due to his genetic upbringing, considering himself weak for being given strength compared to the thousands of failures that "at least tried" to become strong on their own. Outside of battle, Grunt often appears naive and particularly enthusiastic about violence and combat in conversations with Shepard. He often seeks guidance from Shepard due to a combination of his youth, lack of krogan guidance and his inexperience about the galaxy, having been educated solely by imprints from Okeer's tank. It takes a while for him to understand the images Okeer used to educate him with, but Grunt soon sees the funny side of killing turians and salarians, and is pleased with himself when he compiles his first list of enemies. Despite his violent nature, he respects Shepard's leadership, partly because Shepard faces great battles and has powerful enemies. If Grunt becomes loyal, he calls Shepard his battlemaster, as the Commander "has no equal".

Jazinda pauses in her eating to give Grunt her full attention. She felt like she may have touched a nerve with her teasing, she’d not intended any offence and hadn’t intended to turn their chatter to something deep and heavy.

Coming from a passionate race, intimacy and carnal pleasures were something that we’re encouraged within the Skrull race. In order to infiltrate you had to be willing to say and do anything, failing to bed someone’s spouse couldn’t be the reason for a failed mission. In a lot of ways, intimacy hadn’t meant an awful lot to Jazinda, but meeting G’aos had changed all of that. G’aos had taken something physical and taken it to another level. True intimacy, the experiencing of pleasure with someone who you harboured feelings for far outweighed just acting upon attraction and duty.

Jazinda tilted her head as she listened, her expression serious. She could fully understand not just wanting to ‘breed’. “Your a person, not a Male for studding.” She said quietly, not wanting to offend anyone who may be eavesdropping. “If it were the other way and it was Males desiring to mate with Female’s in such a manner then others would be shouting about the rights of women.” She pointed out. “You have him obligation to pass on your genetics in such a way...” she reassured him softly, leaning across the table a little and touching his wrist with her fingers. “And what you speak of, that something ‘special’, there is no shame in it.” She smiled, “If you can find it, it’s fair wondrous...and we all deserve a sh*t at it, tradition and duty be damned.”

A race that had both survived and thrived on being Masters of disguise and infiltration, was it any wonder that Jazinda took new environments in her stride? She’d been one of the Skrull’ stop operative up until her banishment. Her Father May have never recognised her talents, but others of her race had, which was why it had struck as a harsh blow when the sole remaining child of Kl’rt, the Superskrull, had ‘betrayed’ her people.

“Krogans and Skrulls have some things in common.” Jazinda commented as she swallowed her mouthful of food. “We start training at an early age, but not all of us are ideal for infiltration. It takes a lot of practice to be able to pull of being duplicates of people. No one can teach a Skrull child how to shapeshift, it’s down to the individual. It almost comes down to a forced evolution, we have to train our bodies to be able to take on all sorts of forms. Some of my kind never move past just adjusting their actual shape. I worked tirelessly, reading everything I could about others races, from etiquette to religions. To pose as a race, you have to know a race.”

The green hued female glanced around at the gathered Krogans who were all enjoying their meals, oblivious to the identity of Grunt’s companion. “I can tell you know, my people couldn’t put a price on Krogan knowledge. You guard yourselves so closely as a race. As far as I’m aware they’ve not even found a carcass of one of your kind to study.” She turned serious eyes to her friends face. “I swear to you, anything I learn here will never go any further. I won’t compromise your people or home.”

The Krogan’s has little to fear of Jazinda, or of the absent G’aos, neither Skrull were in favour with their own kind and neither of them had any desire to return to the fold. Both opposed the Skrull regime, as did a fair few of their kind, but the few were dramatically out weighed by the masses and no one wanted to be facing charges of treason.

As Grunt indulged her interest and spoke of the Rite and of his own experiences with his passing into adulthood, Jazinda smiled. Her Krogan friend could be quite animated when he wanted to be, as he spoke there was fire in his eyes and all his gruffness vanished. It dawned on the female Skrull that Grunt would be a very good mentor. As she learnt that since his Rite and killing the Thresher Maw he’d had the female chasing him, Jaz was both amused and delighted.  Though, it’s seem that taking a Mate was something that was far from Grunt’s mind.

“Krogan’s sure like all their different Rites.” Jazinda teased playfully as she tore off a chunk of bread to start wiping her bowl clean if the strewing gravy. As Grunt seemingly grew a little self-aware and conscious that he’d been speaking for some time, Jazinda waved her bread at him in a dismissive manner. “Never apologise for being interesting, and I asked.” She pointed out as she popped some of the soggy bread in her mouth.“Tell me more about these breeding requests.” She winked, “I know nothing about Krogan courtship.”

A very unladylike snort of laughter left the female Skrull’s mouth as her Krogan friend informed her that she wouldn’t be viewing his man parts. “Oh, but you’ve got me all sorts of curious now.” She joked, elbowing him playfully. As Grunt proceeded to explain to Jazinda about the less favourable Krogan terms that may be voiced to her she nodded her head, repeating and committing the word to memory. “Pyjak.” She arched an eyebrow, “Maybe don’t teach that word to G’aos, I can imagine him using that when I get in his last nerve, and should he dare he’d be crawling his way out of the Shapeless Wastes.” There was humour evident in the Skrull females tone, but also a note of seriousness. The Skrull ‘Mates’ rarely argued, but when they did it was on an epic scale!

As always the mention of food got Jazinda’s stomach audibly grumbling. Learning that Krogan food wasn’t particularly good for the insides of most aliens, a chuckle left her lips. “Challenge accepted, there isn’t much I can’t stomach.” She patted her stomach for emphasis, “and yes, the shapeshifting does help.” She agreed as she walked along side him, letting him lead her through the barracks.

It was interesting to be amongst a military people again. She’d not been in such an environment since she’d been banished by her own people. These people were soldiers, warriors...kin. As Grunt explained why the layout was very much military minded, she nodded her head in understanding. Grunt was like a well oiled machine, it made sense that he ran his Clan like one. The barracks setup suited him well and as they rounded a corner, Jazinda was not disappointed my the smells that greeted her nose that were drifting from the Mess Hall.

Following suit, Jazinda took up a bowl and handed it to the burly Krogan who was serving them. As he handed her the steaming bowl of stew and the bread roll, the female Skrull nodded her head in thanks. Hearing the pride in her friend’s voice as he spoke of his rite of manhood she smiled, taking a seat opposite him on a long benched table. Tearing off a chunk of bread she dunked it in the stew and took a mouthful. “This is good.” She said once she’d swallowed her mouthful as she glanced around. “Going back to what you said earlier, there’s no harm in having your area laid out like this. You get to keep a check on your people, everyone gets fed and no one eats alone.” She glanced around before returning her eyes to him. “It works, and your people seem content with their lot.”

Forking up a piece of meat, she bit into it experimentally, ready to have her stomach and organs shift to accommodate any issue there may be with what she was eating. Currently nothing appeared concerning, taking the rest of the bite she smiled, “tell me more about your rite of passage?” She asked, curious of the custom and of Grunt’s people as a whole.

As Jaz found herself pulled into a strong hug, her toned green arms circled Grunt and hugged him back as tightly as she could. He was far stronger than her and she knew that even if she put all of her strength behind her hug that it wouldn’t hurt him. She may be physically stronger than a Terran female, but she was nowhere near the strength of a Krogan. Drawing back from the embrace, she watched as what had previously been an excited expression was swiftly replaced with one more typical of a Krogan. Grunt had an image and reputation to maintain, something that Jazinda knew and understood all too well herself. “It’s a pleasure to be here, thank you for the invite and for the forthcoming business of keeping my mind occupied.”

Jazinda knew that this was what she needed. If she wasn’t here, she’d be beating the hell out of a bag aboard ‘The Relentless’ waiting for news from G’aos. “I’m glad that there were no problems with getting access granted for the impromptu visit.” Upon learning that the main man himself hadn’t batted an eyelash, so to speak, about permitting her entry, Jaz was honoured. She placed a green hand to her chest. “I feel honoured that our feats upon Terra have been so warmly embraced.” She said, her tone sincere.

Shouldering her bag, she walked along side Grunt, her brown eyes roaming over her new surroundings. It was always exciting to be in a new place, especially with such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. “Is Clan Urdnot’s current reign one of the longest?” She asked curiously, knowing that in some cultures Clan Leaderships could change as swiftly as the tides. Upon learning that she was to be in the rooms that Grunt reserved for his Mother’s visits, Jazinda was touched beyond belief. “Oh Grunty!” Impulsively get arm circled him and hugged him as she pressed a kiss to his cheek. Etiquette be damned, it was one of the sweetest things any ‘friend’ had ever done for her. “Of course I’ll stay in those quarters! That is so generous of you!”

Strolling through ruins that supported a bustling market, Jazinda smiled, her eyes already roaming over the various wares that traders were selling. The female Skrull was constantly on the look out for unusual items that would hold a high trade value. Terran candy, energy drinks and figurines of the strange being known as ‘Santa Claus’ had all proven to be very successful items for trade!

Seeing the butchered meats and hearing Grunts comment, Jazinda laughed, “Did it look that tasty though?” She joked back, raised a soldier, Jaz was a far cry from a ‘delicate’ female, she’d been running with the big boys most of her life and at times even G’aos was shocked with some of the things that left her mouth!

As Grunt forewarned her about ‘looks’ that she might receive, Jazinda shrugged. “When you’re a Skrull, you get used to a lot of interesting looks.” It was a fact, one that  she was long past concerning herself with. She chuckled a little, “Believe me, if anyone expects to see my belly they’re in for a shock, not even G’aos can get me to roll over, and I love him. If someone pushes, they’ll be getting pushed back, don’t you worry about that my friend.” She arched an eyebrow at his offering to be her ‘Krant’. “I’ll try not to be offended by that offer.” She said with faux seriousness, a twinkle in her eye.

“Ok, so being a ‘Shepard’ or a ‘Quad’ is a good thing, noted!” Jaz nodded her head, “What derogatory terms should I be aware of?” She asked curiously, she could feel an energy off Grunt that she’d never felt before. It was similar to the excitement that he gave off in the misses of battle, but more subdued and almost innocent. Jaz smiled as she realised that he really was happy to have her hear. “If food is on the list, it always gets moved to the top.” Jazinda revealed with a grin. “I’m constantly hungry, it does G’aos’ head in. So food and then surprise me, I’m down for anything, hunting, sparring, target practice. Believe me, I’m not shy, I’m no lady.” She chuckled, elbowing him affectionately as they walked.

Jazinda still couldn’t quite believe that Grunt had invited her to spend time with him. It was bizarre, even some of the Terrans that she’d met, and bonded with, had never invited her ‘over’. She chuckled to herself a little, realising that the concept of ‘coming over’ and ‘hanging out’ would be lost on the Krogan. Some of the Terran phrases were at times a little lost on him, as was sexual innuendo. It sure as hell didn’t stop Grunt from having a sense of humour though!

As the reply came through, Jazinda’s chocolate brown eyes skimmed over its contents eagerly. An almost feral grin passed over Jazinda’s pouty lips as she read, the thought of being on a planet were she could be prey was almost titivating. She liked a challenge! She knew that G’aos would be very jealous when he returned from the planet Klyntar. He loved going to new worlds just as much as she did, the more dangerous the better! The adrenaline that came with the thrill of a hostile planet, or with battle, always led to amazing sex...or it did for Jazinda and G’aos...!

Reading the pun about eating the Klowns, Jazinda giggled, burying her hand into her hand. Still chuckling she pushed up off her seat and made her way to the living quarters. “Si, using the coordinates from the last transmission from Urdnot Grunt, set a course.”

{Setting course. Tuchanka? According to my records we’ve never ventured into Krogan space before}

“Very observant of you Si.” Jazinda said she watched the holographic head of her A.I appear beside her, watching as she tidied up the living area.

{This is to distract you from worrying about G’aos and the Symbiote?}

“I really need to program some tact into your system...”

{I am a learning program, you designed and made me that way. Accessing empathy log. Oh. I see. My question was too direct. You would have preferred me not to mention G’aos and the Symbiote. Noted}

Mentally, Jazinda counted to ten, reminding herself that once upon a time she had been very like Si. She’d created Si upon being banished by her people. In part he’d been created for company, as she believed at that point that she’d never trust anyone again. Back then, Jazinda had a very black and white view in pretty much everything. She’d been to the point and rarely took anyone other than herself into account. Si made a valid point though, he was programmed to learn, and he had done. He’d mastered sarcasm very quickly, and humour. “I’m going to work out. Comm me when we get there.”

....

Jazinda watched from the viewing window as they approached the scarred, rusty brown coloured planet. Her arms were folded as she viewed the alkaline seas, salt flats and craters. Some would call it barren, but even in the most hostile of worlds life could find a way. She knew that the planet was once lush with vegetation, but a nuclear winter had ended that.

As Si guided ‘The Relentless’ into the docking stations, the A.I transmitted their purpose of visit and they were authorised and escorted to a docking bay. As Si sorted out docking, Jazinda pulled the strap of a bag over her head and across her chest. She wasn’t sure where she was staying, she could be sleeping aboard ‘The Relentless’ for all she knew, but it was always best to be prepared, it was one of the reasons she’d packed light.

As the Relentless came to a standstill, Jazinda disembarked, pausing on the ramp as Si locked up behind her. Chocolate brown eyes glanced around as she tried to spot the Krogan that she knew and loved. Spotting him, she raised a hand in greeting and started to walk down the ramp in his direction.

A washed and dressed Jazinda was in the armoury of ‘The Relentless’. The day had taken an unexpected turn and she now found herself alone on the Skrull Warship come bounty hunting vessel. The smaller craft, ‘The Scuttlebug’ has disembarked, with G’aos on board an hour prior. It was an unscheduled parting of ways, something that troubled Jazinda greatly. A chiming caught the female Skrulls attention and she wandered over to a holoport. A reply? Already!

[To: Urdnot Grunt]

[Subject: Re Re: All well on Planet Grunty?]

[Grunty!]

[I wasn’t expecting such a prompt response. I must confess though, it’s very welcomed.]

[I’m finding myself at a bit of a loose end. G’aos has had to go to the Planet Klyntar, the symbiote that is bound to him appears to be unwell. This is altogether quite baffling as usually the Symbiote grants G’aos a healing factor, so some further investigation is needed. The pair of them had requested that I don’t join them, I get the impression that the Symbiote doesn’t want to witness my concern...considering I’m not technically bound to it, it seems to worry about me a lot.]

Jazinda’s slender fingers paused over the holokeys, her usual pout becoming all the more pronounced as she dwelt on G’aos’ ‘other’. Affectionately refereed to as ‘Casper’ by Jazinda, due to the Klyntar’s white colouring, Jaz was fond of the entity. On more than one occasion the creature had helped both G’aos and her when G’aos had been unconscious and unable to. In a lot of ways, the Klyntar was bonded to both Skrulls.

It was unsettling to think that something might be wrong with ‘Casper’ all the more so when Jazinda found herself wondering what it could mean for G’aos...the pair had been bonded ‘as one’ for so long, they’d been through so much together, Jaz wasn’t sure how G’aos would be without his ‘other’.

Wrenching her thoughts back to the communication she continued to type. She chuckled away to herself a little at Grunt’s way with words.

[If I strung up corpses in warning to all those that might want to cash in on the bounty that hangs round my neck, I’d spend half my life severing spines...and that is an appallingly amazing joke, I’ll have to use that one on G’aos, he’d like it.]

Upon learning that Grunt had been keeping the other Krogans in check, Jazinda’s eyes narrowed a little. In someways she likened the Krogan Squads to wolf packs and she knew that fights could break out if someone wanted leadership. Much like a wolf challenging it’s a Alpha.

[I hope you’ve not been butting heads...pun intended.]

She couldn’t help but chuckle as she typed those words. She was fairly certain that Grunt would wipe the floor with any would-be challenger, but that didn’t stop her worrying a little for her friend. Seeing that an invite of sorts had been extended, Jazinda straightened up in her seat. She’d never been to Tuchanka.

[How about now? I’m at a loose end, G’aos could be gone for days. I’ll only sit here worrying and getting restless...which is pointless when I could be harassing you. What are your co-ordinates?]

This was the perfect idea to stop her wasting time on worrying and fretting over G’aos and Casper. She hoped that Grunt hadn’t been just being polite and that the invite had been a genuine one! Seeing the last time of his message she chuckled.

[Cannibals eating clowns? Wasn’t it ‘you’ who took a bit out of them to see what they tasted like?!]

Cosmic Girl

Jun 1st 2019 - 8:19 AM

With a hearty yawn the emerald skinned Skrull, known as Jazinda Kl'rt-spawn, stretched and greeted the day. No sunlight greeted the female, it had been a long time since she’d woken to the morning sun coming through a window, and she found that she missed it. It was all very well living in space, but sometimes even in it’s vastness it could feel quite claustrophobic. Not that she’d change it, life was good, for the first time in a very long time every day was like an adventure. Looking to her side she let her eyes roam over the sleeping features of the source of her contentment, G’aos. She’d never expected to fall into bed with him, least of all fall in love with him. He was like her, a Skrull, considering that they both at one point openly despised their own race it was amusing that their coupling had occurred. Her gaze travelled over his broad chest with its cruel scars, caused by torture at the hands of their own kind. It saddened her that he’d been through so much, saddened and angered her. G’aos hadn’t known a days happiness, not true happiness...she endeavoured every day to try and change that for him.

Not wanting to wake him and knowing he needed his sleep, Jazinda slipped from the bed and pulled a robe around her body. Ruffling her cropped hair she made her way barefoot out of the bedroom and across to the control deck of The Relentless, that Skrull warship turned bounty hunting vessel which she called home. The metal was cool under foot and she shivered a little, pulling her robe closer. One of these days she’d wake up and get dressed, one of these days, who was she kidding?! Heading over to the main controls she checked the flight stats. They’d gone into orbit around a small gas planet that night prior, there was something about going round in circles that made sleep in space easier.

Happy that all was as it should be she went over to the communications centre. Someone important to her was due some contact. It was a strange and unexpected thing, the odd and unlikely friendship of two people who’d bonded through battle. They'd met on several occasion whilst defending the Terran Homeworld, better known as the planet Earth. Jaz and Urdnot Grunt, affectionately referred to as 'Grunty' by Jazinda, had been exchanging communications ever since their first meeting when aiding the Terrans with Killer Klowns Jazinda had not made the best of first impressions as she suffered with a huge phobia of the Klowns, ever since her childhood. Subsequently, they had met again whilst dealing with a huge infestation of Graboids, once again on Terra, and a better impression had been made.

Waving her hand over a processing panel it lit up and the electronic voice of her A.I operative ‘Si’ greeted her. [Good morning Jazinda. The Relentless is functioning at full capacity with no problems. Sensors are picking up no anomalies]

“Thank you Si.” Jazinda responded as she busily typed, the letter keys from the holo keyboard lighting up as her fingertips made contact.

[Correspondence to Terra?] Si asked with android curiosity.

“Nope, not this time. Catching up with our old friend Grunty. I haven’t heard from him in a while.” She responded, silently hoping all was well with her friend.

[It is curious that you maintain this contact with the Krogan.] Si commented. [Skrulls are not ones to indulge in contact without benefit.]

“We weren’t always like that, we were peaceful once. Anyway, I’m not my Race.” She responded defensively.

[No, you are odd.] Si concluded.

[To: Urdnot Grunt]

[Subject: All well on Planet Grunty?]

[Greetings Gruntu.]

[I hope this finds you well and that battle has been glorious.]

[Things out here are curiously quiet, for once there is no imminent threat of war between races. I won't lie, I find this oddly unsettling, there is always unrest in the universe and I find myself wondering about what is to come…]

[I hope that your lack of communication of late is that you've been busy following your warriors heart and that you've not fallen in battle...If you are alive...get in touch!!!]

[Stay safe.]

[Jazinda]
