Snooping & Questions
It was a lazy Tuesday afternoon for Allison. She was home from school for a few days though the rest of her family were busy with their own things. Her mother was working and her older brother Charlie was at school. So this left Allison to wander around the house somewhat aimlessly.
After raiding the kitchen for snacks, and snooping around Charlie's bedroom she then found herself in her mother's bedroom. She knew she shouldn't be in there. She knew that neither her mother nor her mother's husband would like it much but how would they know? Plus, it wasn't like they had any great secrets to hide.
So Allison sat on her mother's bed just rummaging through a small box she had found in her closet. She had seen this box a few times before, it was where her mother kept her keepsakes, at least that's what she called them.
Allison wasn't surprised to find her and Charlie's birth certificates, their little hospital bands from when they were born, some other things like movie tickets, old rolls of film from a camera. All normal things Allison expected to find. She was about to tuck the box away when her eyes set on a picture of her mother. Picking up the picture that was at the bottom of the box Allison just stared at it. The picture was obviously her mother, much younger of course. The stamp on the picture read 1993. With how young her mother was and given the year she assumed this picture had been taken just before her mother had set off for Jurassic Park, a place Allison had often heard about.
Her eyes scanned the picture and moved from her mother to the man she was standing with. Allison knew who that was too, Alan Grant. He was one of her favorite authors but also back then he had been a close friend of her mother's. Though whenever Ellie spoke of him she was vague and always seemed to change the subject.
For some time now Allison had known her mother's husband and brother's father wasn't her own father. Physically there was nothing to link the two together, they looked nothing alike. It had never dawned on her that perhaps Alan Grant was her father?
No. He and her mother had only been friends and hadn't been in contact for years. Surely, if she were his child he'd have kept in contact with Ellie.. wouldn't he have?
A whole new bunch of questions and curiosities had entered Allison's brain now. She wanted to know more, needed to know more about Alan Grant and her mother. Though she didn't have much time to continue considering it. Hearing the sound of tires outside meant most likely that her mother was home.
Jumping off the bed she quickly put everything back, all but the picture. She put the box in its place before taking the picture and leaving the room, rushing to her own. There she sat down on the edge of her bed and just studied the picture in her hand. Was this her father? Someone she had been longing to meet for years. Snooping & Questions
