Bi Weekly Task: A drabble about mothers

A Mother's Day to remember

It was her first Mother’s Day as a mother and yet she was spending the day alone. Isabelle had invited Tatiana to hers to spend the day with her and Charlotte, but it was the last place that Tatiana wanted to go. She loved Isabelle, but she couldn’t bear the thought of being around another mother and their child. It made her miss Sofia and it made her think back on her life with nothing but regret. Sofia wasn’t her first pregnancy, but it had been the first one that Tatiana had seen all the way through and now because of her own selfish actions, she didn’t have the chance to raise her own daughter. Glancing over at the frame that sat beside her bed, a photo from when she was eight years old, Tatiana extended a hand and ran a slender digit along the frame and picked it up. She glanced down at it, a tear running down her cheek and falling onto the glass, leaving a trail of mascara in its wake as blue dark brown eyes scanned the photo of her and her mother.

Tatiana was lucky. She didn’t always feel like it, but she was. She had been blessed with three women that she could consider a mother and although they had all been at different times throughout her childhood and adolescence, they had still been there for her and had all had an important impact on her life. Her biological mother, her mama, had been the woman who had raised her until she was eight. She had cared for her, tucked her in at night, read her bedtime stories, cuddled her when she had a nightmare, and held her hand when she was sick. Following her mother’s death though, her aunt had picked up the slack and had helped the girl through it and had adopted Tatiana just before she had turned 13. She had helped Tatiana through some of the most difficult times in her life, she had given her advice on boys, she had been the first person that Tatiana had come out to, and she had helped her accept who she was, so when her aunt passed away from cancer only a few years later, it had broken her.

Although Tatiana was grateful to her mother and aunt and missed them every single day, it was her grandmother, her abuela who had been there through it all. She had been forced to deal with her rebellious stage. She’d shown Tatiana compassion and had been there throughout her life. She’d been there since the day she was born and all the way until Tatiana was seventeen years old. She was the person who had had the biggest impact on her life and it was her grandmother that she aspired to be like. She missed her mother every single day of her life, but she’d only been eight when she had passed away and there were some days that she could barely remember what she looked like or the smell of her perfume, but she had spent seventeen years with her grandmother. She was the one that Tatiana admired and she was the one that Tatiana had named her daughter, Sofia, after.

Tatiana sat there in silence, feeling sorry for herself until she was pulled from her own thoughts when she heard a knock at the door. She had let herself get so caught up in her own head that she hadn’t realised she’d been sitting there sobbing for half an hour. “Coming!” She called out, placing the photo frame back down beside the bed as the dark haired beauty slowly got to her feet and made her way out of the bedroom, taking a few seconds to glance in the mirror on her way out of the bedroom. Mascara stained her cheeks and her eyes were red and puffy, but it didn’t matter. Taking in a few deep breaths, Tatiana ran a finger underneath her eyes as she walked over to the door and pulled it open, her jaw falling open when she found her daughter’s social worker standing on the other side of it, holding the six month old infant in her arms. “Happy Mother’s Day,” She smiled holding out the infant for Tatiana to take. “I...I don’t understand,” she mumbled as she took her daughter and pressed a gentle kiss against her temple. “The surprise inspection yesterday was to determine whether or not to reunite you and Sofia. You passed with flying colors, so here she is.”

Tatiana could feel the tears sting her eyes once more as she looked from Sofia to the other woman and then back again. “Nunca te dejaré ir de nuevo, lo prometo,” she whispered, peppering her daughter with several kisses before turning to face the woman. “Thank you,” she whispered, moving to step back to allow her into the house. She knew that she would need to talk to Micah, afterall, he was her roommate, but all she could think about was her daughter and how long she had been waiting for that day. After all of the bad Mother’s Day’s, ones filled with sadness and heartache, she finally had one that would always be remembered for the happiness that she felt in that moment. Sofia was her life and she finally had her back. Tatiana knew that there would never be a Mother’s Day that could top it.

April 3, 2020

“I’ll see you next weekend, baby,” Tatiana whispered, looking down at her six month old daughter that was laying in her arms. Her lips curved into a small smile and she placed a gentle kiss against her forehead, trying to hold back the tears as she handed her daughter back over to her daughter’s foster parents. She hadn’t had full custody of Sofia since the infant was only two months old, having almost killed her in a car accident when Tatiana had been under the influence of drugs, but she’d been slowly getting more and more access and she was hoping to have her back in a few months, maybe even sooner! As the other woman took Sofia and turned to walk back into the apartment, Tatiana wiped a tear that had fallen down her cheeks before glancing at her watch. She knew that she needed to get a move on, she had a long drive ahead of her and wanted to get a good few hours of driving in before it got dark.

After driving for 30 hours and making several stops, Tatiana finally arrived in New Mexico. She hadn’t stepped foot in the state since she’d run away shortly after she’d turned 18 and she really didn’t want to be back. Although her life in New York had been hard and it was where she’d watched her mother murdered when she was only ten years old, her life there had been nothing compared to that of the life that she’d led in New Mexico. She’d moved there shortly after her 13th birthday and when she’d left, she thought she had said goodbye to the state for good. She should have known that It didn’t matter how far she went or how much time had passed, the hit and run when she was 15 years old would haunt her for life. It had been ten years since the first time she’d experienced a black out from drinking, but it wasn’t going to be the last, despite the consequences of her actions.

Stepping out of the car, the young woman slowly closed the door and ran her slender digits through her long dark locks as she made her way through the cemetery and over to the gravestone. “Ximena Ruiz. Beloved Daughter, Wife, and Mother.” A tear fell down her cheek as she moved closer, leaving a trail of mascara in its wake. One mistake had ruined so many lives but she hadn’t learned from it. It had simply been the first of many nights where Tatiana had drank too much, consumed far too many drugs, and had ended up blacking out, or in hospital getting her stomach pumped. It didn’t seem to matter what she did, she never learned from her mistakes and simply repeated them. Breathing in sharply, she slowly moved to her knees and looked over at the headstone. “I’m so sorry.”

April 3, 2010 10pm.

“I’m fine. See, I can walk in a straight line,” a very drunk 15 year old Tatiana smirked as she placed one foot in front of the other and slowly walked from one end of the driveway to the other and back again; quite the accomplishment considering she was seeing double and felt nauseous, but she hadn’t fallen over and that seemed like enough proof for her friends as one of them threw the keys to their father’s car to Tatiana. “Don’t crash. My dad will kill me,” she told the ebony haired teenager, causing her to smirk and roll her eyes. “Shut the f*** up or you can go yourself,” she called as she made her way over towards the black mercedes. After pulling open the door, she slipped inside and closed the door a little heavier than intended. “Hey! Keep my door on, will ya!” her friend yelled out. Rolling her dark brown hues, Tatiana held her middle finger up in salute before pulling out from the curb and driving towards the liquor store.

It was a fifteen minute drive to the store, but with the speed that she was traveling at, she was at the store in just under seven minutes. With her fake ID in hand, the 15 year old made her way into the store and grabbed wine, tequila, a bottle of vodka, and more tequila. That party had been the party that had started her love for tequila and while she was fond of alcohol in all shapes and sizes, tequila was her weakness. When she’d taken the liquor to the counter, she thought she would have been asked to show some form of identification, she was only 15 afterall, but she hadn’t been and had left the store with no trouble at all. Unlocking the car door, Tatiana pulled it open and slipped inside before grabbing one of the bottles and opening it. She raised the bottle of tequila to her lips and took a large mouthful before moving the bottle between her thighs as she started the ignition.

Tatiana knew that she shouldn't have been drinking or driving, but she also knew that she shouldn’t have been behind the wheel of a car in the first place, not when she’d consumed so much alcohol. After putting the cap back on the bottle, she reached a hand out and turned on the radio, turning the music up as loud as she could and winding down the window as she drove off, making her way back to her friend’s house. She was driving faster than she had been on the way to the store, she didn’t know how fast she was going, but everything that she passed was a blur. Maybe it was the alcohol or maybe it was the speed, but it didn’t seem to matter because before she even knew what had been happening, she felt the car hit something and got a glimpse of a body as it flew across the road. Tatiana slammed on her breaks, though the car travelled quite a distance before it finally managed to stop.

Taking a deep breath, Tatiana slowly opened the door and got out, glancing down the street at the lifeless body that lay in the middle of the road. She wanted to go and check and make sure they were still alive, but if they were, was she really prepared to get arrested? And if they were dead, what could she do? There was no point in ruining her life too, or at least that was the conclusion she had come to, so she slipped back into the car and slammed the car door shut, She was shaking and tears were streaming down her cheeks, but she needed to get herself together, she needed to put it behind her. With her hands trembling, Tatiana gripped onto the steering wheel and closed her eyes, trying to calm her nerves as the car slowly moved. She couldn’t even remember getting back to her friends home, but within half an hour, she was pulling into the driveway.

April 4, 2010 7am.

“Come on, wake up You’ll be late for school,” her grandmother called out as she knocked on Tatiana’s door. She didn’t even remember getting home, but she was waking up in her own bed, so she knew that she had at some point. “I’m awake, abuela,” Tatiana called out, slowly pushing her blankets off her slender frame and slipping out of bed. For a few minutes she had forgotten about the events of the night before, but that quickly changed when she walked out of her bedroom and into the kitchen. There it was, the woman’s photo splashed across the television for the entire state to see and her family pleading with the public to contact the police if they had any information. She’d died and Tatiana was responsible. Her children were without a mother and her husband without a wife. Suddenly she felt sick and a quick dash to the bathroom was needed. “”Ana?” Her grandmother called out as she followed her granddaughter. “I’m fine, I just don’t feel well’

April, 3, 2020

Tatiana had never felt as guilty before as she did in that moment. She had never fully understood the consequences of her actions before but she did now and she hated that she had caused a child to grow up without her mother. Things were different now, she wasn’t the same person that she was back then, but the guilt that she carried around would never go away, not as long as she kept that secret, but it was a secret she knew could never get out. Wiping the tears that were falling, Tatiana placed her hand against the gravestone before slowly getting to her feet. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered. She had gotten away with murder, maybe it wasn’t murder because it had been an accident, but she was still responsible for someone’s death and she had not paid the price, yet ever since, she had continued to make mistakes and put her life and other’s in danger. “I promise, I promise I’m going to change.”

Drabble Task: Song

Ariana Grande Sad GIF - ArianaGrande Sad Shocked - Discover ...
Too Good At Goodbyes

You must think that I'm new to this, but I have seen this all before
You must think that I'm stupid, you must think that I'm a fool.
Tears stung her eyes as she stood with Charlotte in her arms. She was the most beautiful baby she’d ever seen, but maybe she was biased. She was Isabelle’s new born daughter and Tatiana had been there with her when she’d given birth, but how could she be happy? How could she be so grateful to have shared that experience with the woman that she loved, when the baby’s father had just died; when Isabelle’s husband had just died. “You’re perfect,” Tatiana whispered, leaning down and pressing a gentle kiss against her forehead before she looked up when she heard that British accent. “Get out. I don’t want to ever see you again,” Isabelle said firmly, a deep sadness underlying her tone. “I.” Tatiana was lost for words. She didn’t know what to say or how she should feel, but she could feel the muscles in her stomach tighten and a sharp pain in her chest. Why was she even surprised? She’d been here before and she’d known all along how this would end.
I'm never gonna let you close to me, even though you mean the most to me,
‘cause every time I open up, it hurts

“Issy..” Tatiana whispered, tears cascading down her cheeks and leaving a trail of mascara in its wake. She had known it would end this way, she’d known Isabelle would never choose her, but that hadn’t stopped her from falling hard and fast for the other woman. “Pass me my daughter,” Isabelle said softly and Tatiana looked down at the infant in her arms. How could she love someone so much that she’d just met? Charlotte wasn’t even her daughter, but Tatiana loved her and didn’t want to say goodbye. She didn’t want to say goodbye to either of them. Swallowing the lump that had formed in her throat, Tatiana wiped her tears with the tips of her fingers before slowly walking towards the woman that she loved, the only woman that she’d ever really loved. “Is..” She knew that the blonde didn’t want to talk. She was grieving for the loss of her husband, but now Tatiana was grieving too. It would never be the same kind of grief, but to Tatiana, it was just as real.

So I'm never gonna get too close to you, even when I mean the most to you,
in case you go and leave me in the dirt

Closing her eyes, Tatiana placed Charlotte into Isabelle’s awaiting arms, tears streaming down her cheeks. It broke her heart to say goodbye, but she didn’t have a choice. It wasn’t her child and Isabelle had made her choice. She wanted nothing to do with Tatiana anymore and Tatiana had learned long ago that you couldn’t force someone to love you. It didn’t matter how much her heart was breaking or how used to saying goodbye that she was, it never made it any easier. Taking a deep breath and glancing from Charlotte to Isabelle, Tatiana raised her hands with her slender fingers, she wiped the tears from her eyes and took a deep breath. “I’m way too good at goodbyes,” she said softly, leaning in to place a gentle kiss against Isabelle’s cheek. “But just remember, I will always love you."

Drabble Task: Three Words

Hallmark Hall Of Fame Mother Daughter GIF by Hallmark Channel ...
Home Sweet Home.

Holding out her hand for the three year old to take, a small smile spread across Tatiana’s lips. “We are home now baby,” she whispered, glancing down at the smaller version of herself. Sofia looked like the spitting image of Tatiana when she had been three years old and she had the same sassy attitude, something that always brought a small smile to her face. She couldn’t believe that they were back in the United States and even more than that, that they were back in New York. Paris was meant to have been a fresh start for her and although it had started off rather rocky and she had made several mistakes after getting off the plane, she’d ended up working at Louis Vuitton, attending the fanciest parties, and dating the hottest boys, but that hadn’t been enough for Tatiana and when feelings had begun to grow with her boss, she’d slept with her. The one night stand turned into an affair that lasted for over a year, but as soon as the woman’s husband had found out, so had all of the tabloids. Tatiana couldn’t handle everyone gossiping about her, so she’d decided to return home.

“Mom, mom, mom, mom,” Tatiana heard the toddler calling out over and over again as she walked out of the airport and into the pouring rain. Glancing down at her daughter, she smiled and knelt down, picking Sofia up and kissing the side of her head. “It’s okay baby, it’s just a little water,” the blonde smiled as her daughter held on tightly to the sweater that Tatiana was wearing. She still didn’t even know where she was going to go. She needed to find an apartment, but it was just after 8pm and she needed to find somewhere safe for her daughter to sleep. As the car pulled up, Tatiana moved her free hand to the back of Sofia’s head and held the toddler close to her chest as she made a quick dash for the car, trying to keep the two of them from getting any wetter than was necessary. Mommy,” she heard Soia whine as she slipped into the backseat of the car. Looking down at the toddler, Tatiana ran a hand through her daughters locks and let her lips curve into a reassuring smile. “I know you’re hungry, baby and I promise that I will get you something soon.”

As the car pulled into the curb, Tatiana looked down at her daughter and opened the car door before getting out of the car, grabbing her suitcase and dragging it out with her as she held Sofia with her other arm. After walking over to the door, Tatiana let go of her suitcase and knocked lightly on the door, glancing over at her daughter who had fallen asleep against her shoulder. She couldn’t help the smile that formed against her lips as the sight of her. She hadn’t realised how much she could love another person, a tiny human, until that very moment. When the door opened, Tatiana looked up and offered a small smile when she spotted her friend. She’d known Vivienne since she was a child, their mother’s having been friends when they were children themselves and she was the one person that she knew she could turn to, having no other friends in New York. “Vi..” she smiled, embracing the other woman when she was pulled into a hug. “Be careful, Sof is sleeping,” she chuckled softly as she pulled back and looked at her. “Can we stay here tonight?”

Once Vivienne had shown her the room, Tatiana placed her three years old daughter in bed and pulled the blanket up over her. “Goodnight little dove,” she whispered, leaning down to kiss the toddlers forehead. When she moved to get up, she heard a small voice, causing her to turn her attention back to face her. “Mommy..” Tatiana smiled and moved to sit down beside her daughter, running a hand through her own hair slowly. "Goodnight, my angel. Time to close your eyes and save these questions for another day. I think I know what you've been asking me. I think you know what I've been trying to say. I promised I would never leave you and you should always know, wherever you may go, no matter where you are, I never will be far away,” she sang, the same song having been used by her own mother to get her to sleep when she was a little girl. When her daughter had finally drifted back off to sleep, Tatiana slowly leaned over and kissed her forehead once more. “Sweet dreams,” she whispered. “I love you more than anything else in the world.”

Drabble Task: Five Years Ago

Can a positive pregnancy test be wrong? - MadeForMums
 The First Pregnancy

Positive. Positive Positive. All three tests have come back positive. I thought about doing a few more tests, but what would be the point?! I can’t believe that I’m pregnant. I’ve only been in Paris for two months. What have I done? I was hurt and I was angry, I wanted to feel again and they did that. They made me feel things that I haven’t felt in a while. It wasn’t love, but I felt wanted. With every touch, with every glance, and with every taste. It had started off as a one night stand with one random man in a random bar, but that turned into three or four different men a week. I didn’t care who they were and I didn’t care who I was doing, as long as they could make me forget about it for a while. As long as they could make me forget about her.

I miss her. I miss Issy more than I ever thought was possible but I know that I will never see her again, she made that clear the last time I saw her. I was the first person to hold Charlotte. She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen, but it was short lived. Isabelle kicked me out of her life shortly after and now I’m pregnant and I have no idea how to handle it. I don’t know how to be a mother. I never had one of my own. Well. I did, I guess. I was only a child when she left me though and now I have to face the prospect of raising a baby on my own. I don’t think I can handle it; I wish I had someone who could give me guidance, maybe even a sign.

I had an interview today. Just before I did the test and it went well I think, but how does a baby fit into that? Who will hire me if I’m pregnant? I need the money. I can barely afford to pay my rent as it is and it’s my dream job. I can’t give up Louis Vuitton. I mean, I haven’t been offered the job yet, but if I am, I can’t turn it down, but I don’t know if I can get rid of my baby either. Growing up I always considered it murder. I remember when I was fifteen years old and my friend told me that she was pregnant after she’d slept with two brothers, having no idea who the father of the child was. She’d told me that she was going to have an abortion and I couldn’t understand how anyone could do that, but now here I am, contemplating doing the same thing

I’m sorry angel. It’s not the right time. I’m so sorry.

Ariana Grande Break Up With Your Girlfriend GIF - ArianaGrande ...

“Just get out. Get out and don't you dare ever come back,” Tatiana shouted, slamming the door behind her father as tears rolled down her cheeks. She hadn’t seen him since she was sixteen and when she finally did, when he finally decided to turn up and be a father, he was only interested in money. However, when she refused to give him any, he decided that it had been a good idea to have a say in her life and criticise the way that she’d lived it since she’d turned 18. The last straw had been when he had commented on her daughter, telling her what a useless mother she had been. Coming from him? A man who’d had two families, was a drunk, and had never been around? Tatiana couldn’t believe that he’d even had the balls to arrive at her apartment  in the first place, but he had, and she had told him where to go. She had no interest in having him in her life or him reminding her what she had done or the fact that she’d managed to lose custody of her daughter.

Wiping the tear from underneath her eyelid, Tatiana pulled out her phone and scrolled through her contact list. She wanted to drink and she knew the perfect person to do so with. She didn’t just want to drink though, she wanted to get completely off her face until she blacked out, but drinking alone was never fun and getting drunk alone was even worse.Pulling up her friends name, Tatiana  typed a quick message. “Let’s get f***ed up tonight. I’ll swing by yours in an hour?” Once she’d sent the message, she ran her hand through her long blonde hair and made her way out of her bedroom and into the bathroom to get a quick shower. With her roommate over at his girlfriends, the last thing she wanted to do was be alone so a party seemed like the perfect place to be; anything that meant she wasn’t alone was a good idea to her.

Following a quick shower, the blonde got dressed into a skin tight black dress that went halfway down her thighs and a pair of black heels. She was more than ready to drink, dance, and get up to a hell of a lot of trouble, so as soon as she’d ordered her Uber and had received the alert that it had arrived, she grabbed her purse and made her way out of her apartment. She wanted to forget about the conversation that she’d had with her father and the fact that she had just cut him out of her life completely. She’d been eight when her mother had died and although she hadn’t seen her father since she was 16, she’d always lived with knowing that she had a father out there somewhere. She hadn’t known where he was or if she’d ever see him again, but he’d been out there somewhere, though now he was dead to her and she had no one but herself.

Once she had reached the car, she opened the door and slipped inside. Tatiana pulled out her pone and smiled when she saw her friends reply. “I’m on my way now.” Slipping her phone back into her purse, Tatiana sat back and glanced out the window, watching as they passed building after building. She couldn’t deny that she was looking forward to the night ahead, especially the small bag of goodies that she had brought with her. She’d been clean for a few weeks now, trying to do what was best for her daughter in order to get her back, but she didn’t care about staying clean or sober anymore. All she could think about was how good it felt when she was high or how much she forgot when she was so drunk that she could barely walk in a straight line; either way, she planned to make the most of the night ahead.

Drabble Task: Family

ouat vs disney | Tumblr

July, 1st 2016

“It’s a beautiful baby girl,” A tear escaped her eyelid and rolled down her cheek as the baby was placed in her arms wrapped in a yellow blanket. The tears that she shed were both tears of joy and sorrow. Tatiana didn’t have any family, not anymore. She’d only been eight years old at the time of her mother’s rape and subsequent murder and it had left several scars that could never be healed. Five years later, just after she turned 13, she was sent to New Mexico to live with her grandmother and she was 16 the last time that she saw her father, not that he had ever been much of one to her. Paris was her home now and her newborn baby girl was all of the family that she had left. Her daughter was the only family that she would ever have.

Tatiana hadn’t seen the baby’s father since the night of conception and she had no intentions on doing so. This was her baby, this was her chance at having a family, and this was her chance at finding unconditional love. She’d arrived in Paris alone and heartbroken but now she’d found the one thing that she’d been lacking, now she had found love. Leaning in, Tatiana placed a gentle kiss against her daughter’s forehead, moving her hand to take the infants tiny hand. “Hello little dove,” she whispered, biting down on the inside of her mouth. Little dove had been a term that her own mother had called her and it was a term that she had carried with her throughout her life, a term that she would use for her own daughter as she grew up. “Sofia Dove Garcia” she whispered. “Welcome to the world.”

Never had she ever imagined that life could have brought her something so beautiful, something so perfect, but yet here she was. She’d never been able to do anything that would be considered as perfect, but now she finally had. Sofia was her perfect little thing and no one would ever be able to take that away from her. “I love you,” Tatiana whispered, unable to take her eyes off of her daughter. “I wish you could have met her.” she whispered, glancing at the clock that hung on the wall in the corner of her hospital room, shedding another tear when the minute hand struck two. At that very minute, 13 years beforehand, her mother had been murdered and all of the pain and all of the hurt came flooding back. She could feel her heart aching for a mother’s love, something she didn’t remember having but had longed for since it had been taken away from her. “You have her eyes.”

Drabble Task: What if

Ariana Grande Crying GIF - ArianaGrande Crying Tears - Discover ...
What if Tatiana had stayed in New York with a broken heart
Tears rolled down her cheeks, a box of half eaten chocolates sat beside her on her bed and a tub of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream was positioned perfectly between her thighs as she put Notting Hill on for the third time that day. It had been three days since Tatiana had last seen Isabelle and she couldn’t get over it. Her friends had told her to move on and forget that it had ever happened, but was it really that easy to just forget someone that you truly loved? That you’d imagined your life with? Tatiana knew that she had no right. Isabelle had never been hers, not really. She’d been married and Tatiana had come between them, but she didn’t regret it and she knew that she never would, but Isabelle had ended things regardless. She shouldn’t have been surprised though, but she was.

After finishing the tub of ice cream, and watching Notting Hill for the fourth time, she was interrupted when there was a knock on the door. Furrowing a small frown, Tatiana threw the blanket back and slipped out of bed, making her way into the kitchen to get rid of the evidence. Hearing another knock, she rolled her chocolate colored hues and walked towards the door. “I’m coming, I’m coming,” she stated as she pulled the door open, running her tongue along the inside of her mouth when she spotted her friend. Friend was a term that Tatiana used loosely when referring to Whitney. They’d known one another since they were two years old. They’d been separated when Tatiana had moved to New Mexico at the age of 13, but when she’d moved back just after she turned 18 they had been reunited. Their friendship had been fueled by jealousy though and they brought out a competitive streak in one another. “What the hell are you still doing in your P.Js?” the redhead asked, causing Tatiana to roll her eyes. “Go away, Whit,” she mumbled, as she moved to close the door.

“Babes! Throw some clothes on and let’s go out, It’s been ages since we got f***ed up,” Whitney complained as she pushed the door open and walked into Tatiana’s apartment. She knew Tatiana better than most, so she knew the right buttons to push and the right things to say to get Tatiana to do what she wanted her to do. “Come on. You used to be fun but since you moved back here you have been boring as f***,” Whitney mumbled as she popped herself up on the kitchen counter. “Don’t be f***ing boring. Besides, you’re little girlfriend is probably out f***ing half of New York by now.” The blonde knew that wouldn’t be true, but she couldn’t help the jealousy that seemed to bubble away just beneath the surface. The thought of Isabelle with anyone else hurt more than she could have ever imagined, yet it had become her new reality.

Two Hours Later

Tatiana knew that she should have stayed home, but Whitney had said the one thing that would get Tatiana off her couch and into the club with a drink in hand. She wanted to forget about the ache in her chest for a while and getting blackout drunk seemed like a good idea. Making her way over to the bar, Tatiana leaned against it and raised her hand to get the bartender's attention.  “Half a dozen tequila shots” she called out, turning to face Whitney as she slumped down on the barstool beside her. “And you’re paying!” A small smirk spread across her lips and when the shots were placed down in front of them, she downed them one right after the other. There were just the first of many that she planned to devour that evening. “I need to go to the bathroom,” Whitney commented as she slid from the barstool and Tatiana simply nodded, grumbling a few noncoherent words as she raised her hand to get another round of drinks, but before she was able to get the bartender's attention, she felt a hand around her wrist and she was pulled away from the bar. “And you’re coming with me,” Whitney smirked as she led Tatiana towards the bathroom.

“Whit, I was going to get some more drinks in,” she whined, causing her brunette friend to roll her eyes as she pulled the blonde into the bathroom, letting the doors swing shut behind the two of them. “I know, but let’s liven things up a little.” Whitney smirked, pulling a small bag of pills from her bag and holding it up. “How about a little pick me up?” Tatiana arched a brow and pushed a strand of her long blonde locks behind her ear. “What are they?” Whitney had no idea and simply shrugged her shoulders, opened the small clear packet, and handed one of the pills to her friend. “You know what...f*** it,” Tatiana mumbled as she threw the pill into her mouth and held out her hand for another. “You wanted to get f***ed up, right?” she smirked, tossing another pill into her mouth when Whitney offered it to her.

Eight Hours Later

“She has to be okay. She has to be,” Whitney whispered as she paced up and down the waiting room, waiting for news on her friend. She’d woken up just after 4am, two hours after they had crawled into the apartment, following three hours of drinking, dancing, consuming several pills, and some cocaine, and had found Tatiana passed out on the kitchen floor, covered in her own vomit and not breathing. Whitney had called the emergency services immediately, but she didn’t know if she’d made it in time. It wasn’t exactly a secret that the blonde had a drug problem, yet Whitney hadn’t cared and had led Tatiana down the wrong path once again, but now she was regretting it. “Miss Dean?” Whitney heard a voice and slowly turned her attention as the doctor walked over. He didn’t need to say a word, it was written all over his face and a sob left her lips as he opened his mouth to speak. “I’m sorry. We did everything that we could but she didn’t make it.”
