Beth Greene had changed a lot since the beginning of the apocalypse. When it started, she was weak and just wanted to die. Especially after losing her mom and older brother, Shawn. But, after surviving her suicide attempt, she began to get stronger, even if slowly. But it was the loss of her father and the prison that really pushed her to be strong. Her time alone with Daryl, she had come to hold her own when needed. She was strong now, able to take care of herself and protect others when she needed to; something that she knew her father would be proud of if he could see her now. She had even survived getting shot in the head. She was a different woman now.
That night, although Maggie tried to get her to stay behind, Beth was with the others trying to get her sister to Hilltop for help. Glenn had been out, so Beth knew she had to be by her sister's side, but she never expected to run into the Saviors. Never expected any of what was about to happen that night.
Getting pushed down into the dirt beside her sister, Beth watched in horror as they pulled an injured Daryl out of one of their trucks. Tears streamed down her cheeks from her blue eyes, terrified for what was going to happen that night. Everyone kneeling there in the ground was her family, and she couldn't imagine losing any of them. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest, she felt like she was going to be sick. As the door of the RV opened, her eyes left Daryl and looked over to see a man stepping out holding a bat over his shoulder, a sick smirk on his face.
"Pissing our pants yet?" the man smirked. The group stay quiet, staring in horror as he walked out infront of them, the smirk never leaving his lips as he made his speech. He walked around the semi-circle slowly, looking at Rick as he made his speech; making sure that Rick felt like this was all his fault.
Closing her eyes, Beth fought off the tears. She could tell by the way he was talking, someone was going to die that night. Someone she cared about was going to die. It made the knot in her stomach tighten. These people were her family, each and every one of them. She was not ready to lose anyone, but, was anyone ever ready for death?
The smirk finally disappeared close to the end of his speech. "So now," he spoke, a frown now in place of the smirk, "I am going to beat the holy f uck f ucking f uckity f uck out of one of you." Then he turned to Maggie.
Beth's eyes opened again, looking up at Negan in horror. She wanted to stand up for her sister, to punch the man in the throat... but as Glenn burst out, Negan's men were instantly on him. She knew it was too dangerous. Reaching over, she took her sister's hand, squeezing it. Both girls obviously terrified, not only for themselves, but everyone in the group.
Once Glenn was pulled back into the lineup, the smirk came back to Negan's lips. "I've got an idea," he laughed, causing the smirk to grew wider. He began to walk around the circle; starting with Rick; and pointing his damn bat in everyone's faces. "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe," he spoke slowly.
Time felt like it had slowed as he made sure to threaten each and every single one of them. Once he finally stopped, he pointed the bat at Abraham; which didn't overly surprise Beth, as Abraham did look like one of their toughest members. And even though she was not close to the man, she couldn't watch as Negan began to beat his head in. Closing her eyes, she turned her head away. The sound it made was bad enough; the sickening crunch of his skull made her feel like she was about to throw up. Even with her eyes closed she could vividly see exactly what was going on.
The night was far from over though. After killing Abraham, Negan began to taunt Rosita, telling her to look at the pieces of brain stuck to the bat. Beth looked over at the other girl, feeling awful for her. Daryl though, did not hold back and got up to attack Negan, which resulted in a secondary death. Without a warning, Negan turned and began to kill Glenn. As he did so, Beth squeezed her sister's hand tighter, as Maggie was forced to watch her husband murdered.
It wasn't until the sun was beginning to rise that Negan and his men finally left. They took Daryl with them as their hostage, leaving the group to clean up the bodies of their loved ones. Beth helped her sister up, pulling her into a tight hug. "Maggie, I'm so sorry..." she whispered, holding her close. The two girls held onto each other, sobbing. "Negan will pay for taking Glenn away from you and your baby... no matter what. We will make sure he pays for this," she whispered. They needed to save Daryl and end Negan's reign of terror. Especially now that he had taken Glenn away from his family.
