Rosary Beads

Rosary Beads

Why hasn't God Made you better yet?

"See... here.. and just here... and the rosary beads become like a bracelet you can wear." Lorraine said, showing her granddaughter Katie how to wear her set of rosary beads around her wrist like she often did. "Thanks grandma!" Katie said with a smile before starting to unravel the beads from around her small wrist. Lorraine gently stopped her and smiled. "How about you keep those sweetheart? They belonged to my grandmother... she gave them to me and now it's my turn to give them to you." She explained.

Katie nodded and smiled admiring the beads before her eyes set on the cross. She looked at it for a few moments before looking to Lorraine. "Why hasn't God made you better yet?" She asked innocently. Lorraine gave a tired smile and patted the spot beside her in bed, Katie moved to curl against her grandmother. "If God wants me to get better I will. If he doesn't.. then I won't." She said calmly.

Katie nodded and frowned a little ".. I've been praying. But he doesn't answer me and you're still sick." She said almost pouting. Lorraine laughed a little "well God isn't like a genie. You can't make a request and he just does what you ask." She explained and gently patted Katie's arm. "God has many more urgent things to worry about than me. But I'm sure he's heard your prayers and will take them into consideration hm?" Katie nodded and smiled again. "If he hasn't heard me I'll just get louder with my prayers." She said playfully.

Both she and Lorraine laughed until Ed interrupted them. "Hey! What's going on in here?" He asked, a smile on his face. Katie smiled "look grandma showed me how to wear my rosary beads!" She said excitedly showing her grandfather. He nodded and smiled "very pretty. Your Mom and Dad are downstairs with dinner." He said and gently lifted her from the bed, kissing her cheek before watching Katie rush downstairs.

Ed then turned his attention to Lorraine who lay in bed looking frail, not just due to her age but illness as well. "Hon.. why don't you let me bring your food up to you? We can eat in here." He said and frowned as Lorraine began getting out of bed, he moved to help her stand, helping her put on her robe as well. "Ed... I don't want to be stuck up here forever." She said looking to him.

He gave a helpless look back and wasn't sure if she meant physically or if she was just too tired of being sick and wanted to leave. "I want to go down to dinner with our family.. and enjoy." She said and smiled at him, he gave a small one back before Lorraine spoke again. "Plus I want my Chinese food." She said walking toward the door.

"You aren't supposed to have it, the doctor said your blood pressure." Ed warned, Lorraine only scoffed and looked to Ed. "Look how old we are... what's it gonna do to me that already isn't wrong?" She asked, Ed nodded and sighed smiling. "Was I this bad a patient after my heart attack?" He asked. Lorraine nodded and smirked slightly "Worse. This is just payback."

Together Ed and Lorraine went downstairs, Lorraine greeted Judy and Anthony and just as she intended spent the rest of the evening with her family, eating, laughing, and loving. Lorraine knew she wasn't well and knew sometime soon her time would come. Sitting there with the family watching her granddaughter she knew no matter what she wouldn't leave, not entirely, not until Katie was ready. Just as her own grandmother had done for her many many years ago.

"Why are you helping me?"

Why Are You Helping Me?By: Lorraine Warren // 1533977

"Why are you helping me?" Julian asked looking to Lorraine who sat by his bedside. During one of their many exorcisms, something had happened, the demon in its last ditch effort to cause problems before being forced back to hell lashed out. Unknowingly it lashed out at Julian, he being what he was not much could hurt him except another demon. He had been injured before was sent back to hell and now Lorraine sat tending to him while Ed, Drew, and Jade tended to the person who had been possessed.

"Is it because of Jade? You know what I am... seems counterproductive. Send one demon back to hell while helping another." He said sarcastically. Lorraine sat calmly listening before she finally spoke. "You aren't just a demon... and no. I'm not just helping you because of Jade."

Julian scoffed and rolled his eyes, wincing to sit up before Lorraine carefully pushed him to lay back down. "Lay down.. you need to rest. You aren't invincible." Julian almost growled with frustration but laid back knowing he needed to let himself rest before he'd be alright again.

Carefully Lorraine made him comfortable before taking a seat again. "And to answer your question.. I'm helping you because I don't think you're like every other demon.. or angel. In fact, you're more human than anything else. Angels and demons... well they don't get much of a say in the side they choose. But... humans have to choose to be good or... not. Like us humans... you have that choice. And so far though not always you've been choosing good. So for you're worth helping."

Julian didn't answer and in fact, turned away from Lorraine. Lorraine said nothing else but smiled slightly knowing her words had gotten to him. They usually did during their chats and since at the moment he couldn't storm off the best he could do was turn to face away from her.

Halloween Date Night

Halloween Date Night

By: Lorraine Warren // 1533977

"You aren't supposed to be going out tonight." Lorraine said as she watched her older sister Marie getting ready for her date. "It's Halloween night Lorraine, of course, I'm going out." She said. Lorraine who was almost pouting at this point frowned "Mom and Dad told you to stay here with me and hand out candy." She said firmly, Marie only groaned and rolled her eyes. "Lorraine if you wanna stay inside and hand out candy that's your choice. I am going out tonight with Johnny." She said with a happy smile.

Lorraine frowned "I thought you were dating Charlie?" Marie shrugged "yeah well now it's Johnny." Lorraine rolled her eyes and looked at Marie. "Please don't do Marie I really don't want to be alone." She said. Marie frowned "Lorraine... it's just Halloween do you always have to be such a wimp about everything?" She asked.

Lorraine hardly thought she was a wimp but Lorraine didn't like Halloween, she was almost fearful of it. On normal days Lorraine encountered things that sometimes completely terrified her. Halloween was even worse, it was a day in intentionally being scared and Lorraine hated to be scared.

Lorraine left the bedroom she shared with her sister and headed downstairs. Hearing a knock on the door she hesitantly went to it and opened it. She was relieved to see Ed and welcomed him in. Ed smiled and kissed her cheek. "Hi hon." He said though he could tell almost immediately something was wrong. "Hey what's the matter?" He asked worriedly.

Lorraine looked to Ed and was somewhat unsure she wanted to tell him the truth. "Marie is going out on a date... she's supposed to stay here with me and hand out candy." She said and looked to Ed. "I hate Halloween Ed. I don't like being scared... and don't want to be alone." She said softly. Ed nodded understanding and took Lorraine's hand. "I'll handle Marie." He said and it was just that time Marie was coming downstairs.

"Oh hey Fred." She said, Marie always purposely called Ed by the wrong name. "See? Won't be alone cause now your boyfriend is here. Told you they come in handy." Marie said with a smirk. Ed looked to Marie "I'm taking Lorraine to the movies. You stay here. Just shut up and hand out candy. If you don't I'll tell your little boyfriends about each other." Ed said.

Ed more so knew the boys Marie ran around with than Lorraine did. Ed grabbed Lorraine's jacket and took her hand. Marie wanted to argue, she wanted to cuss Ed out but she knew he would follow through on his threat.

Once Lorraine and Ed were out of view of the house Lorraine looked to Ed and smiled. "Thank you." She said softly before frowning. "Ed I don't want to go see a scary movie though." She insisted. Ed nodded and smiled a little "I know hon. We're gonna go see a Disney film okay?" Lorraine smiled and kissed Ed's cheek. He knew how much she adored Disney. "I love you.." she said softly. Ed nodded "I love you too hon. Let's go have a good Halloween." Ed said as they headed off toward the theaters.

Halloween

"Judy! Drew! Hurry up!" Lorraine called out and then looked to Ed who was examining the Halloween treats Lorraine had fixed for the trick or treaters. "What is so puzzling about snacks?" She asked looking to Ed curiously. "Where's all the candy?" He asked looking to her. There was one bowl of chocolate bars and other candies. But there was also little individual bags of popcorn Lorraine had made.

"Ed not all kids can eat candy. So I made another choice." She said holding up the little baggy of popcorn that had a spooky little face on it. "What kind of kid can't eat candy? We didn't get other choices as kids. It was take the candy or get out of the yard." He said jokingly. Lorraine heaved a sigh and rolled her eyes looking to him. "Ed... why do you care what I hand out? You're taking the kids trick or treating anyway."

"I care cause I'm the one that has to clean the house when they egg us." He said with a smirk. "You're the kind of person that gives out carrots, aren't you?" Ed asked and shrugged "these kids just want candy and you give them healthy things." He said though by this point Lorraine wasn't paying Ed any attention. "Drew! Come on! You guys are gonna miss everything!" She called up the stairs.

Lorraine's smile faded when she saw Drew and Judy or more so Judy. "What- Drew!" She instantly scolded. Drew was dressed as a vampire, Judy dressed as a witch. "Where is her angel costume?" Lorraine asked crossing her arms. Drew who was ten smiled "an angel for Halloween? She needed to be something scary. Plus... this goes better with my costume.

Little Judy was only four, her only concern was getting candy. She didn't really care what she went as. Smiling up at Lorraine she jumped a little and squealed. "Boo Mommy!" Lorraine smiled a little and knelt down. "Such a scary witch." She said and then glanced to Ed. "Alright come on kids." He said. Lorraine jumped up quickly. "Wait wait wait!" She said and rushed out of the room. A moment later she returned with a camera. Quickly Lorraine snapped a photo of Judy and Drew before smiling. She followed them to the door and watched as Ed left with them. "Bye!" She called after them and watched until they were out of sight. The streets were already filled with children going from house to house.
