OPTIONAL TASK 158
The darkness was creeping in as Bowie approached Crybaby Bridge. There was a lot of legend surrounding the bridge and Bowie wanted to explore it. She had done a little ghost hunting in the past, and wanted to try something out on her own. Supposedly a mother lost her baby in the flow of the water, and now at night you can often hear a baby crying and see the mother walking up and down the bridge searching for the baby she lost. Bowie was not sure if this was true to not, or if it was just a story that was continuously passed on so much that it had become an urban legend. But she wanted to explore and see if she could see or hear anything for herself, although she was not holding out much hope. Most of the time things turned out to be false, and people never found any real evidence of things. But it was worth a shot, after all she had nothing to lose.
Once she got to the bridge she walked across until she was in the centre of the bridge, so she could easily see to the left and right of her, so she could see if anyone approached. She could also easily look over the bridge at the water from both sides. The sky grew even darker as the time ticked on, and she was finally ready. She grabbed her torch from her bag and switched it on. She glanced at her watch before taking a seat on the bridge. She crossed her legs and glanced to the left and right of her. She grabbed her EVP machine and switched it on and placed it by the side of her. “If anyone is out there, come forward and talk to me” she said, speaking to thin air. The air was getting cooler and she zipped up her jacket. She kept glancing around, trying to stay vigilant.
After three hours of sitting there and calling out she got nothing. Not even a little peep. She sighed and turned off the EVP machine and threw it in her bag feeling defeated. She stood up and as she did so she heard a scream. The scream of a scared baby. She looked over the edge of the bridge into the flowing water below but she could not see anything. The screaming continued but she could not locate the source of the sound. She then noticed a female dressed in all white lurking at the edge of the bridge, glancing over the edge of the bride too, as if she were looking for something. “Hello” Bowie called out to her. The female looked at her then disappeared right before her eyes. Bowie felt a little scared but not threatened. She walked down the bridge to return to her car and glanced back and saw the female again. Maybe it was the mother looking for her baby, or maybe Bowie was so tired she was just imagining it, because she wanted to see something. She could not be too sure. She took a picture and glanced at her phone, but there was no woman in the photo. It was very strange, but Bowie just shrugged it off and put it down to her imagination.
