task 003.

Lighters — David isn’t much of a smoker, but there are times when he’s so stressed out, he’ll light up a cigarette; or when he has company over and they’ll smoke blunts. His junk drawer has a collection of lighters, both working and dead ones, so sometimes it’ll take him a minute to find a usable one.

Batteries — His junk drawer also has a pack of both double and triple A batteries, an absolute necessity for literally anything. You never know when you’ll need them.

Pocket knife — David has two pocket knives: one he keeps on his personal, the other is in his junk drawer. While the one he carries on a day to day basis belonged to his grandfather before passing, the one he keeps at home is just a random one he bought a few years ago for a back up.

Headphones — He’s guilty of having a tangled mess of white headphones! He doesn’t even know why; he had intended to throw away any non working ones, but somehow they still found themselves in the drawer. And quite frankly, he doesn’t care enough to clean out the drawer and throw them away.

Candles — His house tends to be the house that his family gathers for holidays and birthdays, and pretty much any family event. Because of this, David tends to keep a little pack of candles in the drawer.

Pens/pencils/sharpies — He has pens, pencils, and even sharpies scattered throughout the drawer. Some might be dead or dull, but who knows? He tends to just throw them in there when he’s done using them.

task 002.

001. Dolls.
This is one of his more irrational fears, but David has a fear of dolls. During his early childhood, his twin sister Bryce collected all kinds of dolls. Admittedly, at one point he became jealous of these dolls, her obsession with wanting to play with them all the time meant she was playing less with David. Once, when he was four, she woke David up with one of them right in his face, causing the boy to scream and cause an irrational fear of them. Plus, all those horror movies with the creepy, killer dolls didn’t help his fear at all.

002. Drowning.
This is a more reasonable fear that David has. He doesn’t know where this fear originally stemmed from, but he has a fear of drowning. Which is ironic because some of his favorite summer days were lounging by his friend’s pool and going to the beach. And though he enjoys going in the water at the beach, he’ll only go so far.

003. Losing a loved one.

David already experienced this before, which is why this has become one of his greatest fears. Nicole Townsend was someone who knew literally everything about him; all of his favorites, past memories. And then suddenly, she was gone in an instant. He’s afraid to get close to anyone else in the vulnerable sense, but not because he’s scared to fall in love. He doesn’t want to experience that pain of losing some again; be it death or just a breakup. It’s just not something he wants to experience again.
