My Story

Draco Malfoy was the only child of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, whom were both born into old, walthy pure-blooded families. Though his mother, Draco was a descendant of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black and the great-great-great grandson of Phineas Nigellus Black. Both the Malfoys and the Blacks had traditionally been in Slytherin House for centuries and strongly disapproved of any relatives whom did not follow this tradition. Draco was rasied in the atmosphere of regret that the Dark Lord had not succeeded in taking command of the wizarding community, although he was prudently reminded that such sentiments ought not to be expressed outside the small circle of the family and their close friends, or “daddy might get into trouble”. The Malfoys were very proud of their pure-blooded and social status; until 1996 they were able to maintain a respectable public image while being allied with Lord Voldemort. Lucius was a Death Eater who avoided imprisionment in Azkaban following the first wizarding war by claiming that he had been under the Imperius Curse; while Narcissa merely agreed with the ideaology of pureblooded supremacy. The Malfoys Spoiled their son, giving him the best of everything as far as material possessions go. The only hand me down thing Draco ever received was the old family predjudice against Muggles, Muggleborns, half-breeds and blood traitors; in short, everyone and anyone whom was not a pure-blood witch or wizard, or anyone who supports these types of people. In childhood, Draco associated mainly with the pure-blooded children of his fathers ex Death Eater Cronies, and therefore arriving at Hogwarts with a small gang of friends already made including Theodore Nott, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. When the time Came for Draco to attend school in 1991, his father wanted him to attend Durmstrang Institute, a school in Northern Europe that taught the Dark Arts and did not admit Muggle Borns, however his mother did not like the idea of Draco going to school far away, thus they sent him to Hogwarts.

During Draco’s school year, Draco Malfoy offered his friendship to the boy who lived – Harry Potter as Draco’s father believed that Harry was a dark wizard, and Draco wished to impress him and relay some interesting news home. However, When Harry did not like the attitude Draco expressed towards Ron Weasley and with Draco reminding Harry of his cousin Dudley, it created animosity between the two which lasted throughout their school years. Once at Hogwarts, Draco was sorted into the Slytherin house, like all of the other members within his family. He rapidly formed friendships with fellow Slytherins, whilst remaining hostile to Harry in every aspect. Within the second year, Draco attained the position of Seeker on the Slytherin Quidditch team, his father brought the entire team new Nimbus 2001s, because of this and the comment Hermione made, speculating that the only reason why Draco got onto the team at all was because of his fathers generosity, he lashed out instantly by calling Hermione a “filthy little Mudblood” causing more animosity between himself and the Gryffindors. Of course his reaction was instant… taught and drilled into him by his father. Draco was suspected during the second year to be the heir of Slytherin by Harry and his friends and due to the investigation of the golden trio, found out that actually it was opened 50 years ago. Yet Draco knew that It was his father whom had schemed to get the Chamber of Secrets opened this time, by planting an old diary of Tom Riddle’s on Ginny Weasley… Draco was aware of his fathers intentions… yet his subconscious was preventing him from being able to allow it to happen fully… supplying the crucial page of which was needed in order to discover what was happening… to Hermione Granger herself inside her reading book whilst she was not looking. But when Hermione was Petrified, it was a shock as his fathers plans became reality… and Draco felt his first doubt within his head regarding his upbringing. During his third year, Draco took his teasing of Harry to a new level, mocking his reaction to the Dementors that were around Hogwarts and on the train, searching for the mass murderer Sirius Black… despite having that fear of dementors himself. Draco had gotten himself hurt within a Care of Magical Creatures lesson, provoking a hippogriff and getting injured. Although his injury was exaggerated for attention from his peers and to get Hagrid fired, after mocking the situation, Draco was not expecting Hermione to slap him in anger… causing him to be shocked and run away in anger and frustration. During the fourth year regarding the Triwizard cup, Draco was jealous at the fact that Harry Potter was becoming more famous due to his entry to the tournament. Draco Supported Cedric and also Viktor Krum by passing out ‘Potter Stinks’ badges and betting against his father that Harry would not last more than a few minutes in the tournament. Using his year to become an informant to Rita Skeeter, helping her writing all of the articles in the Daily Prophet regarding Harry Hagrid and also Hermione, his assistance was one of the main reasons why people did not believe the story that the Dark Lord had returned at the end of the school year. But when Draco made a comment regarding Harry’s choice to side against Voldemort and made a comment about Cedric Diggory’s death, before he could finish, the curses from Harry, the Weasley twins, Ron and also Hermione… soon set him straight.

In 1995 Draco Malfoy became a Slytherin Prefect along with Pansy Parkinson. He was sure to mock Harry Potter for not receiving the same honour as Gryffindors prefects were Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. He also wrote the lyrics to the song demeaning Ron Weasley when he mocked his abilities as Gryffindor Keeper, not only that but he also insulted the Weasleys as a whole and the late Lilly Potter to Harry. After being attacked and responsible for Harry’s exclusion from the Gryffindor Quidditch team, Draco was happy too with his progress. Later that year, Draco joined the Inquisitorial squad and enjoyed the additional power that this gave him over other students and held this over Harry and his friends most of all. After capturing Harry and his friends in their attempt to discover the whereabouts of Sirius Black, they were brought to Umbridges office and kept an eye on whilst Umbridge took Harry and Hermione to the forbidden forest to search for Dumbledores weapon. When Umbridge left, the DA members with the inquisitorial squad, due to several stunning spells and disarming charms and a bat-bogey hex, left Draco and the other Slytherins in Umbridge’s office recovering. When the DA followed Harry to the Department of Mysteries, Draco’s father was seen participating in the battle as a Death Eater and was imprisoned in Azkaban for his crimes. Draco was extremely upset by this and blamed Harry Mainly, swearing vengeance and attempting to attack him at the end of the school year with the help of Crabbe and Goyle, yet the DA members struck again, coming to Harry’s defence and the Slytherin trio looking like ugly slug like things after the numerous hexes thrown their way.

By the late 1996, Draco joined the Death Eaters, having replaced his incarcerated father. He bragged about being given a mission to his fellow Slytherin students on the way to school on the Hogwarts Express, however as the year dragged on, Draco became increasingly afraid that he would fail in his seemingly impossible task… to kill Albus Dumbledore. In is implied that draco was expected to fail and that Voldemort assigned him the task with the intention of punishing Lucius Malfoy for the failure at the Department of Mysteries. The safety of his family rested on Draco’s success with his mission. When Harry overheard some parts of Draco’s conversation with his fellow Slytherins regarding the mission, Draco used a full body bind curse to paralyse Harry and stomped hard on his face, crushing his nose in revenge for imprisoning his father, causing Harry to hate Draco more than ever. Draco spent the 6th year at school repairing a vanishing cabinet that Peeves had destroyed four years previously in order to accomplish his task of smuggling death eaters into Hogwarts in order to assist him with killing Dumbledore. From their previous year, Montague had informed Draco around the Vanishing cabinet in school and that when he was in limbo, he heard the location of the twin in Borgin and Burkes. Draco realised that once the broken one was repaired, they could form a passage into the school. During the summer break, Draco forced Borgin to keep the cabinet in the store safe, showing him his dark mark and threatening him with Fenrir Greyback to attack him if he disobeyed. This meeting was overheard by Hermione, Harry and Ron, allowing them to suspect him of death eater activities but never believing it. In preparation for such a dangerous year and a dangerous mission, Draco trained and improved his own skills and became capable of blocking jinxes nonverbally. He also became accomplished at Occlumency through the training of his Aunt Bellatrix and was able to perform the very difficult Protean Charm although he could not yet produce a corporeal patronus. During his focus for the mission ahead, Draco changed a lot within his life, he lost interest in Quidditch, he became neglectful in his school work and missed two Transfiguration homework assignments and received detention as well as not attending to his prefect duties, Draco no longer trusted Snape and was willing to speak ill towards him. Socially Draco forced Crabbe and Goyle to assume forms of other people to keep watch outside of the Room of Requirement, whilst refusing to tell them anything and distancing himself from everyone. Draco spent less time mocking Harry and his friends despite the numerous opportunities and even his physical appearance was showing signs of stress with weight loss, lack of sleep. Twice during the school year when he feared he could not fix the cabinet, he attempted assassination attempts on Dumbledore such as using a cursed necklace and poisoned mead. Both of these attempts failed and resulted in innocent people getting hurt although they did survive. The stress was becoming too much to bare which resulted in Draco confessing his fears to Moaning Myrtle. Harry stumbled on him at this point and as Draco reacted to cast the cruciatus curse, Harry used the sectumsempra spell, forcing Draco into the hospital wing. Eventually Draco fixed the cabinet and used it to let his aunt Bellatrix into the castle with other death eaters to the school. Proceeding to the top of the astronomy tower, Draco cornered a weakened Dumbledore disarming him and giving him the opportunity to finally kill him. Dumbledore attempted to pull him out of the darkness and into the light, showing willingness to protect Draco and his family if they were to join the right side, Draco could not bring himself to commit the murder he was asked to. Considering they had spent the few minutes of alone time discussing how Draco had brought Death Eaters into the castle, Dumbledore concluded that Draco would find committing murder impossible as predicted. Draco lowered his wand, but when the death eaters joined them, Snape ended up killing the Headmaster instead. Yet when Draco disarmed Dumbledore, he gained his wands allegiance. After the battle at the Astronomy tower, Draco had to leave the castle as he was an accomplice, however reluctantly in the revered Dumbledore murder, he could not return to the school that year. He ended up seeking refuge with his family with Voldemort in the hopes of satisfying his orders to prevent any more negativity towards his family.

Hogwarts 7th Year

Draco reluctantly participated in Death eater activities before the beginning of his seventh year. Due to Draco’s role in Dumbledores death, Voldemort liberated Lucius Malfoy from Azkaban. He witnessed the murder of Charity Burbage, the Hogwarts professor whom taught muggle studies… something which he refrained from studying due to his forced upon teachings from his parents. Yet during the summer months, due to not committing the act himself of Dumbledore’s murder, Draco was tortured by the use of the cruciatus curse… to teach him a lesson… something which haunted him in his nightmares… forcing him to re-think his upbringing and his teachings… second guessing himself in every aspect… though he was damn good at hiding his thoughts and feelings due to his advanced occlumency. But after the incident, it seemed that the Malfoys had lost much of their influence in the Death Eater Circles, this is due to Voldemort no longer holding Lucius in such high esteem and instead shifting his favour to Draco’s maternal aunt Bellatrix and also to Severus. Draco Attended his seventh year of Hogwarts that year, keeping his head down and studying the much changed syllabus as mow it favoured the dark arts. His reputation around his so called friends had changed due to his fathers actions and now his own. Crabbe or Goyle never really held him in the same esteem they used to. Something which Draco did not care much for… Yet when Easter came, Draco went home for the holidays and was seen in Malfoy Manor. He was called upon by his parents to confirm the identities of Harry, Ron and Hermione whom were caught by snatchers. Draco showed a lot of hesitation in doing so. But when the torture of Hermione was being completed by his aunt, Draco remained in the corner, afraid, unable to move as he found himself almost in tears as he knew he was in over his head… digging himself into a hole and not able to climb out. When Hermione Lied to Bellatrix about the sword of Gryffindor, Draco fetched the Goblin to confirm the story, hiding his emotions from Harry and Ron. Later in the evening Draco’s wand was stolen by Harry during their escape, forcing the Malfoys to be detained to the Manor by Lord Voldemort, leaving Draco to go back to school with his mothers wand instead. Soon the war began, the battle of Hogwarts commenced and whilst the Slytherins were forced out of the school, Draco, Crabbe and Goyle remained behind to seek out Harry Potter, his wand and the item they were trying to locate in order to get back into the dark lords graces on order of his father. They followed the trio into the room of requirement, where when they located Harry, Crabbe and Goyle were desperate to attack and kill Harry, yet when Draco tried to exercise control over his friends, it was confirmed even now that he had lost whatever he had over them… resulting in Crabbe using Fiendfyre. With the inability to control the curse, the room of requirement burst into flames. Draco attempted to save his friends, but only managed to save Goyle, Crabbe being killed by his own spell. The surviving pair were rescued by Harry and Ron by broomstick as Draco was then upset at the loss of someone he had considered to be a friend. When Harry was considered Dead, Draco scaresly joined the Dark lord and his family, feeling Voldemort embrace him yet not reciprocating before joining his parents, ignoring them at first. Yet when Voldemort had finally been brought down and defeated, Draco and his parents sat in the great hall, unsure of their place during the victory celebrations.

After the War

Now the castle has been re-built, McGonnagal is now the headmistress at Hogwarts, Kingsley Shacklebolt is minister for magic. Since the war, Draco had kept himself to himself, yet his parents did all that they could in order to follow the upbringing he was given, to locate a suitable witch for him to betroth himself to and continue the pureblooded line they were so hopeful to keep. But since the war, Draco was not the same, his views had changed… he did not see the divide which he had been forced to live with anymore, there was no differences between purebloods and muggles in his eyes… yet his fellow witches and wizards did not share this new view of him. They made his life hell, staring at him, making comments behind his back, sometimes stunning him or shouting hexes towards him to make him pay for his involvement in the war and murder of Albus Dumbledore. He did not blame them. He felt like he deserved it… Yet Draco opted to go back to school for his seventh year in order to complete his NEWTs… knowing full well that if his reception in public was anything to go by, the one he would receive back at Hogwarts would be just the same if not worse. But the shock arrived when he received his owl and it contained a Head boy badge, something which he was not expecting… though he knew that now things would be different for him… the argument was… just how much.
