"Some have half-baked ideas because their ideals are not heated up enough. This is why you shouldn’t turn to a life of crime. You can run, you can hide, you can fire laser beams all you want, but no one can outrun justice when your friendly neighborhood Spider-Cop is on the scene!"
Spidey spoke into the camera, though he wasn’t live streaming. Rather, he was simply poking a bit of fun at the Hydra agents he just rangled up and taking a selfie for himself. Not like he could actually post it online. In this day and age with hacking, someone would easily be able to trace his phone and find out who he really was under the mask.
"Pretty late for you guys isn’t it?" The web-head asked while turning to face the clump of criminals trapped in his web net. "Isn’t past your bedtime? Or does Hydra’s over time really pay that much?"
"Okay okay, I think you’re crossing over into ’cruel and unusual punishment’ Web-Head. Emphasis on ’unusual." Spoke a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who had come with a small task force to take the group in for questioning.
"You sure? Who knows, I may be job hunting. The pay could be that good and a spider’s gotta eat. Pizza’s not cheap in this economy...I’m kidding I’m kidding." Clarifying as the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent gave him a suspsicious look. Or was it an annoyed look? "Besides, green and yellow isn’t exactly my color. Red and blue really bring out my eyes."
Rolling her eyes, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent turned away, responding to her coms while the rest of the five man team set up a perimeter. "TELL FURY I SAID ’HI’!" Walking over to the Hydra agents, Spider-Man stared at them, crossing his arms over his chest while he thought over the fight. Seeing a dropped Hydra weapon, Spidey pulled it toward himself with his webbing, wanting to examine it. Turning it over in an attempt to find anything new or unusual, there wasn’t anything that Spidey could make out other than it was a weapon he didn’t want in New York. But why New York? What was Hydra doing here?
"So...any of you boys wanna tell your good friend Spider-Man what you’re doing in my city? I mean, I think it’s the least you can do seeing as how I just got you free lodging with S.H.I.E.L.D. That’s four walls, a ceiling, three meals a day and multiple interrogations to practice your peoples skills. You have to pay top dollar to get that in the city."
After not getting anything out of the Hydra soldiers, Spidey spoke with the leader of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team.
"That’s classified Spider-Man. I can’t give you anymore information other than Hydra shouldn’t be in New York. What they were doing and what we want with them is not any of your concern."
"Ugh, see this is why Fury has so many enemies. Secret’s don’t make friends! You’re really not going to tell me what they, or you, are doing in my city?"
"S.H.I.E.L.D. is a government entity. You’re just someone who dresses up like a bug and tries to stop crime for free with not government authority. Just feel lucky that Director Fury doesn’t bring you in with these Hydra scum as well."
It wasn’t surprising that Spidey was getting this kind of treatment. He was use to getting blamed for everything, and not getting credit for anything. And he was fine with that. So long as these weapons were off the street, kids can sleep in their beds safely, he didn’t care of S.H.I.E.L.D. took credit for capturing these Hydra agents. People were safe, that’s all that matter to him.
Without a word more, Spider-Man left the rooftop, swinging away into the concrete jungle of his city. S.H.I.E.L.D. can say all they want about having government authority. Even if there was some truth to that, Spidey wasn’t out here trying to become famous or earn money. He was out here trying to protect people, and trying to honor his uncle. With great power, comes great responsibility.
But that itch to know what Hydra was up to did bother him a bit. There was a crawl up Spidey’s spine. Not his spider sense, but something telling him that this wasn’t over. And he couldn’t get this uncomfortable feeling that he was being watched.
