The Reaper Chapter 4
The Reaper- Chapter 4- Written by Brandon Marko AKA Wade Wilson DPA NWO RIPD Travis said his name again, this time with more distinction than before.. When he said his name out loud, it was like a release even. Travis felt an unusual weight being lifted off his shoulders. He sat back in his chair, and for the first time..He smiled, taking another sip of coffee. He looked at the table and looked back at Tyler. Travis spoke once again, “I want to check out the cemetery tomorrow... If thats OK with you?” It was strange, he asked Tyler if he needed permission to check it out. When in reality, he didn't need to.. Tyler understood and nodded his head. Tyler also knew that Travis needed to in order to move on and that he wanted closer in his life. Tyler didn't really know what or why he was going through, but, he rubbed his eyes and smiled. “We'll go and check it out first thing in the morning.. It's late, for now..let's sleep on it..”Tyler said to Travis. Travis smiled and the two of them rose up from the table and made their way up to go to bed. There are a group of men in an abandoned alleyway, it's late at night. Two men come up to the men, trying to get away. Slowly, they take the man to the ground. Pushing him against the alleyway wall. The cool bricks gave no comfort to the trembling man, the two men were there. Holding the man and hitting him hard in the stomach, causing him to hunch over. The men who were harassing the other man were cops, the same cops who attacked and killed Travis all those years ago. The Man being harassed shook with fear in his voice, trembling while he spoke to the two of them.. “Please...I'll do whatever you want... Just...let me go.. I..I..Won't say anything...to..anyone..” Fear gripped the man's voice while he lay there trembling against the two armed cops. The two cops looking at him laughed harshly and continued roughing him up. The moonlight shines down on the men and their silhouettes come radiating off the moonlight. Their shoulders have two silver badges on their shoulders. Reconfirming they are cops, the badges read N.Y.P.D. On them. They were cops, harassing a man in the alley. The man they were harassing continued to tremble with fear, and one of the cops smiled. You could barely see it through the moonlight. 1 of the cops spoke, his voice sounded dark and angry at the pathetic man's whispering... “Another shipment of cocaine...you managed to piss away...You... were responsible for the missing contents.. the boss is very displeased with this...” Cop 1 said angrily to him, and punched the man's stomach hard. The man doubled over in pain, holding his stomach, he coughed hard and the cop grabbed his hair tightly. Yanking the man's head back against the alleyway wall, Roughly, it smacked his head against the wall, and the man cried out in pain once more. The man they were torturing, winced in pain and a shadowed reflection of fear and pain could be seen on his face. He was breathing heavily and he couldn't escape from their grasp. The other cop stood with his arms crossed, and moved in from the shadows of the alleyway wall. He moved in and we can see the anger on his face. His eyes narrowed, moving his face close to the trembling man now... He brought his hand up to the alleyway wall, near the man's head. The second cop spoke now, anger in his voice as well... “Look at us!!” He yelled at him. The man cried out in fear, squirming, and crying out.. Begging for forgiveness. The cops laughed at the pleading man. The man stood tall, his body was still shaking, but he opened his eyes to see them. He swallowed hard.. and the second cop spoke once again.. “We don't care what you can bring to the table anymore... Coke dealers are a dime a dozen, the boss has no more patience for scum like you.. Zero tolerance for losers, who abandon their shipments of Coke, just because a little heat goes on them...” The second cop said hitting him hard once again. The man coughed in pain once more, scared for his life and hunching over after having been hit hard in the stomach. Blood spattered out of his mouth on one of the cops' blue ties they were wearing. The cop took out a cloth and wiped it off in disgust.. Shaking his head, they stood surrounding the trembling man once more.. The First cop spoke, with darkness and anger in his voice once more.. “Oh.. Tony Tony Tony...Tony..” The First Cop said. The First Cop punches Tony hard in the stomach watching him cough more, and a smile peers on his face once again.. “We really like you, but see The Boss is very displeased about this. He wants to make an example out of you... You see...” The First Cop placed his hand along the man's cheek slowly. It made the man tremble, and wince. While it made both cops smile.. “You see, too many people in this organization have been skipping out on payments, and the shipments... It's a f***ing disgrace..” The First Cop said angrily and punches him harder. Tony cries out in pain once more... The two cops chuckled while the First Cop says once again... “You see my friend..., this whole process and organization.. He built from the ground up.. 15 years it took him to build this.. Now, every gang, every small and big-time gang reports to him. Some would even say.. He's the King Pin..” The Cop says, and punches him repeatedly in his stomach this time, having Tony cry out in pain some more. Tony cries and squirms, but the other cop holds him in place and the last punch. He punches his throat, causing him to cough out blood. Tony begins to breathe heavily. He was gasping for air, while everything started growing dark. He was losing consciousness slowly... Barely able to hold on.. The Second Cop said something this time.. In a cocky, laughing, dark tone to him.. “Everyone is happy with this, every one gets a fair cut. A fair deal.. No one steps out of line. But, sometimes.. That's where we come in, you see sometimes... Some people think..they can go out for business themselves, or get away with sh*t, like the sh*t you were doing... That's where we come in you see.” The Second Cop said, laughing once more at this statement. Coughing more from lack of air, and the cracked ribs... He spat out blood and looked at the two of them.. “You are f***ing cops... Don't...” Tony was about to say, but he got cut off, being punched once more in the throat. Gasping for breath now, tears from the pain were streaming down his face, while he looked on. Fear had been in his eyes once more. A slight, narcissistic tone appeared in the Second Cops' voice as he continued to speak to Tony... “Oh no... we're cops...and that means, that you are breaking the law... we can't have that now can we Tony...” The Second Cop said, holding Tony by the throat and squeezing hard. This time the first cop decided to speak... “You see you pathetic little sh*t, the law is this.. You f*** up the boss's shipment, and you f***ing die... There is no law, except this... Survival... You see..If you don't follow the rules... you f***ing die... This is a message, you little sh*t..” The First cop said with a dark laugh... The First Cop took out a knife and stabbed Tony in his chest, having him scream out in pain. The other cop sliced his throat having the man's screams get cut short. The blood splattered out of his neck, and the man's body thrashed some under the grip of the cop and the cop let the body fall to the ground. The cops stood over the body, their bodies and face from the point of view of the dead body. Cop 1 opens his cell and talks to a mysterious figure. The First Cop speaks into his cell now... “Yeah.. It's done... Do you want us to clean up, or leave it?” He asked, the other side. Wiping the blood off his uniform while his friend lit a Cigarette... “I see, got it... We're going back on our routine patrol... No one saw us... Copy..over...” The First Cop said, hanging up the phone. The First Cop turned to his friend and grinned slyly..... “Boss says, we get a nice bonus for handling this.. He wants us to leave it...” His cop friend smirked... “Let's go, tacos on me...” He said, the other cop laughed walking out of the alley. The cemetery comes into view now, it was a cloudy day so it couldn't really be said what time it was when the two people were there. The cemetery grounds were big, but not so big that a lot of people would visit during the day. The day was cloudy, but the sun's rays showed through the clouds. The two guys walk along the cemetery slowly together. The Two men were, Travis and Tyler. They continue walking along the pathway, the cool air was refreshing but, it didn't seem to help Travis's' mood. He couldn't help, but something was off. It was disconcerting... walking through that cemetery. Travis had felt a strange, uneasiness going through his body. It was weird, he couldn't place his finger on it. It was the day after Tyler had found him, and he hadn't touched the cemetery since then. They were coming across the graves slowly when Tyler had a weird look on his face. He ran towards the grave, and Travis looked on at the weird reaction Tyler gave.. Travis followed in pursuit, and they stopped at a disturbed grave. Tyler had an almost sick look, on his face. The grave slowly comes into their view now, and there is a mound of mud and dirt that had been disturbed lately was still there. There happens to be a faint name across the headstone, over time it had collected moss and other dirt-like materials on the gravestone name. Tyler looked on, apprehension in his voice from the site of the headstone beforehand. “You see this gravestone... It's been recently carved, a fresh grave.. You see the dirt and mud. It's been dug up... And this...” Tyler said, wiping the rest of the gunk away from the name, it read... 'Travis Miles... Dead... June 20, 2013 on it.. Travis walks up to the grave and falls to his knees. Tyler sees what Travis is going through. Travis reads “beloved husband. Honorable Detective”.. Travis' breathing turned heavy, and it almost seemed like it turned into a panicked state. He was breathing heavily, almost on the verge of a panicked attack. He continued breathing heavily, his hands were against the ground. Feeling the dirt and mud, of his open grave. It made Travis slam his hands against the ground, and it made Tyler jump at the reaction Travis gave to this sudden discovery. Tyler recovered from the sudden surprise Travis gave him and stood there watching and waiting for Travis to recover..whenever he was ready. Travis remained on his hands and knees. Scooping the dirt in his hands, he let the dirt fall from his hands against the ground. A cool dust of wind blew the remaining dirt away, it was eerie. It almost was like someone was there watching the two of them. Travis looked around and reached out with trembling hands. Placing them against the top of the headstone... He rose to one knee and sighed softly. Travis's body continued to shake a little, while he spoke quietly. Travis looked on with a blank expression on his face. Travis sighed and said quietly.. “Does...That mean...I'm dead?...” Travis asked the question, but he already knew the answer to that. “I've...been dead for...what...?” Travis asked Tyler, while he remained hunched over, studying the headstone a little more... He looked at Tyler now, “15 years? 15 years... of my f***ing life... gone...!” Travis said angrily, slamming his hand against the headstone. Travis continued to shake, his hand was clenched into a fist now.. “What does that mean... I..what..I'm a ghost?” Travis asked Tyler... He looked at Tyler for guidance, maybe even reassurance. He wasn't sure what he needed, the thought still was pretty hard to understand himself. He looked at the ground and looked at the grave. Tyler thought about that question, and looked at him, he knelt down and placed his hand on Travis' shoulder.. Tyler said quietly to Travis, reassuring him, “I don't know, I know that no Ghost would have eaten the way you did.. if anything... I'd say you were something else...” Tyler said to him. Tyler knew that it wasn't comforting at all. All it would only leave Travis with more questions, than ever. He thought about all that happened, and he thought about the images of him being, tortured and obviously killed. His hands shook once more and clenched his fist together tightly. Travis said darkly while keeping his head lowered, wind blew his hair gently, while he spoke.. “If I died...” He said, looking at the open grave. “Then...why...am..I even here?” Travis asked Tyler.. The last word was faint, even quiet. It was as if, he were even trying to figure it out. He looked at the grave, and then at his own hands. Travis had an image of him catching the wine bottle, and then he heard the same voice appear in his head once more... We'll meet soon... A police station comes into view now.. It's a busy police station, cops, detectives, and all forms of law enforcement were walking around, going about their own business. It's been a busy day because there was a murder the day before. The t.v. Monitors around the halls and outsides of the offices were playing with the news. The news about last night's murder came over the multiple television monitors now. “We have confirmed reports of a homicide in the lower East side District. One Tony Shaw, was murdered in cold blood. Gang-style execution, in what is clearly a message, was sent to the public. One can only suspect as to what that message could be.. All condolences go to Mr. Shaw's family and friends...” The News Reporter said in the t.v. All The cops and other Detectives around the area have a concerned look on their faces. Sam including one of them. He couldn't believe how bad the city has gotten, and it seemed like no matter how much they did. Nothing seemed to go their way, they would put away one murder..Then another would creep up, once again. Sam looked on, you could see the sadness in his eyes. Captain Lewis Myers had been walking into the halls where everyone had been watching. Of course, they were watching. Nearly half of the police and officers in that precinct were dirty. Captain Lewis Myers looked on and he had been flipping through his folder some more. His eyes averted to the t.v. Screens. “You know, I think we can find out something more to do with our time. Gentlemen.. Ladies...”Captain Myers said in a calm, firm tone. This made everyone else go about their daily routines. Captain Myers walked into his office and closed the door. He sat behind his desk and looked at the picture of the family. Trish, holding Sarah... Chris and Travis Jr. sitting there altogether. He then looked at a picture, an old picture. Of himself and Travis, they were in their police uniforms together smiling. He took a deep sigh and leaned back against his leather chair.. Rubbing his eyes, he took in a hard breath. Captain Myers spoke, sadness in his voice while he looked at the picture..“It's been...15...years... and I still remember that day... I should have been there...”Sadness in his voice even more than before.. He looked at his phone and grinned a little.. But, it wasn't because he was sad anymore, the grin was something about something else.. “There hasn't been a day, that hasn't gone by...that I haven't missed you..” Captain Myers said and looked at Trish and the family again. “I hope you know, how hard it's been.. How much I've taken care of them. I wish you could see them, sometimes.. we all can't get what we want..” Captain Myers said once again with another grin on his face.. He was about to continue when Sam interrupted him. He heard the knock on the door, and his office phone rang. It was Trish, he answered it and waved Sam in. Sam, came in and sat down against the leather chair facing the desk. It took about 5 minutes to finish the call when Captain Lewis hung the phone up and sat back down. Taking a sip of coffee, coughing a bit. “Coffee's' older than I am...” Captain Myers grunted and poured his coffee into the wastebasket near his desk. Looking at Sam he grinned. “What can I do you for Sam?” Sam gave a small smile at the statement, and tossed his own folder to the desk. Captain Myers opened his folder and looked. There were signs of excitement in his voice when he spoke to the Captain... “I worked up a profile on our guy, Tony Shaw.. He's a known drug trafficker, for this secret criminal organization. We don't know of the name.. Hell..we didn't even know such an organization existed.. Till now..” Sam said to him. Captain Lewis looked at him, while he flipped through the pages. 'Little punk is more persistent than I thought...have to keep an eye on him...' Captain thought to himself, and then shook his head clear of his thoughts once more. Flipping through the pages, and then looked up at him. “What...? you mean there's an actual organization of crime out there? There's no way... Is there?” Captain Lewis asked him. Sam nodded his head and leaned in looking at the folder. “You see these knife wounds, well there's more. The knife wound could have been enough. But, you see these?” Sam said and pointed to the multiple bruises along the guy's body. “These were shown signs of torture..Before the cutting of his neck, you see..and... To make matter worse, he had been shot once in his head, right in his eyes. You see, it's not gang related.. Gangs are too sloppy in their executions..This was a professional hit. Someone wanted his body to be recovered...clearly, this was meant to be a message to someone...but who is my question...” Sam said, flipping through other parts of the folders, still clearly showing signs of excitement in having a major breakthrough in the murder case. Captain Lewis Myers couldn't help but grin at the evidence Sam had given him. It had been a while, but Sam had reminded him of Lewis and he couldn't help but smile at that. He leaned back and flipped through the folders once more. Studying the material, almost admiring the work these thugs did to this guy.. “This is really great news.. I didn't even know there was an organization like this anymore. At least, not in the U.S. Anyways.. I wonder how far this really goes...” Lewis said while he looked at the paperwork, and then back at Sam.. “That phone call was Trish.. She's making dinner tonight..Ribs, do you want to come? Captain Lewis Myers asked with a grin on his face. He already knew the answer to that. Sam looked at him, thinking about the decision. Captain Myers grinned, “Stop acting like you're going to say no..Besides... I know Sarah would like to see you again..”Sam smiled and nodded his head. It made Captain Lewis Myers smile as well. “Then it's settled, we'll ride home after work together..” There's a mysterious voice that appears out of nowhere, speaking ominously as well... “It's coming.. The process has begun... Soon, all will be explained...Remember...Remember... It's coming... coming...Soon We'll meet... Soon...” The mysterious voice continued on. It was an eerie echo of a voice, and the inside of a bedroom could be seen. It was the guest bedroom. The man had been sleeping on the bed.. The man is known to be Travis Miles. The voices continue to haunt Travis' mind when he wakes suddenly from the dream. At least, he felt it was a dream. Sweat had been pouring down from his brow. It was an intense dream and he was still shaking about it. He looked at the clock, it was 9 in the morning. He smelled bacon and eggs cooking. Travis rose from his bed and stretched. Moving to the mirror he looked at himself and he still saw a stranger looking back. He still couldn't figure out why he was brought back to life. He couldn't understand this. He didn't understand why he was brought back to life, why.. For what purpose..He thought about it, and he also thought about other things. When he smelled the food more, he had gotten himself ready for the day. Travis made his down the stairs and saw Ashley cooking breakfast. He grinned sitting at the table. She saw him and smiled, pouring him a cup of coffee. He smiled and thanked her. “Tyler's' working and Shaun's' at school I suspect? Oh, thank you..” Travis said taking the plate of food and she joined him for breakfast. Ashley joined him. “Well, yeah. You know dad.. He's a workaholic even when he says it's just his retirement job. I have never seen him work harder.. But, I guess..It makes him happy, doesn't know why.. Being happy around dead people, but that's his preference..” She smiled, digging into her food, while musing herself with a magazine she bought the day before. Travis couldn't help but grin at that statement. He continued to eat and take in some coffee when he looked through the paper. Travis smiled some while he swallowed a mouthful of food, and washed it down with some coffee. “I don't think we have been properly introduced have we?” He asked her, reaching out he wiped some syrup Ashley had gotten on the corner of her lip. It made Ashley blush at the gesture, and smile when she spoke.. “ Considering the circumstances...I think that's a passable offense..” she looked down, thinking about his soft hands on her lips once more. It caused her to flush red once more, before returning to the magazine. Hoping Travis hadn't seen it. Ashley continued eating some more of the breakfast and he smiled some more. “I'm Travis Miles... It's nice to finally meet you, Ashley..” Travis said with a hidden grin on his face, shaking her hand. Ashley returned the favor as well. “That seemed a bit forced, it's not the cooking is it?” Ashley asked him. Travis chuckled amusingly at her statement, “Oh no, your cooking is amazing.. I just..well..” He said and stopped eating for a minute... “I...I don't know.. Lately..my life has been a bit Odd..”.. 'I'm not going to tell her I'm dead..' He had been thinking about it, when she interrupted him again. Ashley saw the look Travis had on his face, she placed a gentle hand on his cheek now. Travis closed his eyes and took the gesture, it was calm and soothing. “It must be hard, not knowing exactly who you are.. Then coming to find out, that you are this person. Like, you're living two separate lives. It must be really hard...” Ashley said quietly to him, while she removed her hand slowly from his cheek. Keeping her gaze fixed on his eyes. Travis returned the gaze for a moment, before looking down at his plate.. Travis let out a deep sigh, he knew that she didn't know the half of it. She also didn't know who he really was. Travis returned a half-heartened smile to her, showing her that he appreciated the gesture and she knew he had a lot on his mind. Ashley decided to change the subject this time, “I'm not doing anything today.. Well, I have to go to the bank after breakfast.. Care to be my escort? Ashley asked him. He was very handsome, and it made Ashley's heart flutter at the thought of him being with her. Ashley got up from the table, slowly carrying the dishes. Travis finished his coffee and slowly rose from the table. He helped with the dished and helped her wash off the food, before sticking the dishes in the dishwasher. 'He does dishes too...amazing...' Ashley thought to herself, while she watched him clean them. Travis noticed her staring and smiled, she returned the smile back. “I'd love to.. Besides, and don't tell your father this... but the company..is far more enjoyable than your father..” Travis said with a smile on his face, placing the last dish in the washer before drying his hands. Ashley couldn't help but blush and smile at the statement. She chuckled a little, giving him a playful push. “Don't worry about that, Your secrets safe with me..” Ashley said with a smile on her face. Travis smiled back, they dried their hands off and got ready to head to the bank. Travis gets into the passenger side of the car, and they take off. Ashley had been listening to some music with him, when the radio interrupted with news about that murder that happened last night. “Can you believe such things still happen in this city.. It makes me worry about the future sometimes...” Ashley said to Travis. Travis merely nodded his head in response to her, 'Me too..' Travis thought to himself, while they continued on to the bank. A few hours down the road, they both arrive at a typical average bank. On a normal bank day, it was pretty busy for it only being 10 in the morning. It was 10 by the time Ashley and Travis arrived at the bank. The bank tellers around certain parts of the bank were handling particular business transactions with other bank patrons. Security cameras were placed around the bank and a vault was opened in the corner to handle some safety deposit box transactions as well. Travis and Ashley were standing in line waiting to be served. The wait seemed to take forever, Travis was never a patient man. Even when he was alive, some traits just follow you into the afterlife. Travis rolled his eyes and looked at his watch. Ashley couldn't help but smile. “You remind me of Shaun Jr., he hates waiting in line..” Travis gave a smirk and looked at the clock. Speaking in a slightly agitated tone of voice.. “ Something me and the kid has in common, then.. “ He said with a smile to her, before he lets out a groan after seeing how long it takes for the tellers to complete their business. “ I would have made a sandwich, had I known it would take all day...”Travis said. It made Ashley smile more, shaking her head while she whispered quietly, “men..” Travis let his voice trail off when he noticed a white van pull up. His cop instincts began to kick in and were coming back to memory now. Travis could tell that something was wrong. 6 men came out of the van, the bank wasn't that large and there weren't many lights hanging over head either. He took Ashley by the hand and walked her out of the line. Travis had good instincts even when he was a Detective, but this was something else. Almost like it was a sixth sense, he could tell when something bad was about to happen and it was going to happen in the bank. Ashley began to speak quietly, confusion in her tone of voice.. “What's going on?” She asked him quietly, a bit nervously as well. Ashley was about to say something else when she had gotten interrupted. By the 6 men, they brought out AK-47s. The leader brought out a magnum and approached the two security guards in the bank. There were 15 people plus staff there at the bank. The leader shot both of the security guards in the head. Directly in between the eyes. They fall to the ground and everyone begins to scream in terror. Travis brought Ashley down behind one of the solid tables that you couldn't see underneath them. You could barely see their eyes, as they look on. The men started shooting everywhere, having the clients and bank tellers duck for cover. “Listen, whatever happens next..Promise me you'll stay hidden..” Travis said to Ashley... Ashley had a scared look on her face while she remained hunched behind the table with Travis.. “Wait? Where are you going?” She asked him, seeing him sneak off away from her..The people in the bank were still crying and screaming, when they were moved to the side of the walls, to be controlled. The tellers remained behind the long desk of the bank. You could hear the whimpers and cries of the hostages. The leader shoots some of the lights out with his Magnum while the people in the bank start to quiet down.. “Can I get some f***ing peace here...!” The Leader shouted and pointed his gun at them. This made them quiet down, and The Leader smiled... “Good... now.. Can I have your attention please...” The people were still whimpering, when one of his henchmen brought his gun out and shot the ceiling. Having everyone quiet and jump, including the leader. Ashley looks on while the Leader speaks once again while looking at the goon who shot the gun in the air.. “Was that really necessary?” He asked the man, the man shrugged, and it made The Leader roll his eyes. “I mean really, scare the sh*t out of me..” The Leader shook it off and looked back at the rest of the patrons in the bank. “Now...Many of you know, that this is a hold-up... We don't want to shed any more blood although we are very good at it..Well, wait we don't right?” He asked his men, and then back to the patrons like his men had a choice and shrugged.. “Anyway... we are making a transaction, which would like to go over smoothly here...We'd like to have everyone have a nice day...So, please..no sudden movements.. It makes my men antsy...” The Leader said to them all. The men pointed their weapons at the people, and the people countered once more. Ashley looked on from behind the counter table, seeing Travis sneaking around keeping out of sight.. “Hope you know what you're doing...” Ashley said quietly... Travis seemed to hear her and nodded his head in her angle.. Travis was thinking the same thing. He couldn't help but have this feeling in him, it was something different. It was almost compelling him to do something, he would have done something anyways... It was in his nature, but this was different. Travis clenched his fist tightly, and his eyes narrowed. He looks at the 4 security cameras placed at the corners of the bank and knew one was in the vault. Travis' eyes were scanning the bank, 5 guys, from the look of them... They're big and dumb, not combat-worthy..The leader may be a problem...however... Travis was thinking when he was studying the crowd of people, a voice appeared in his head. You know what needs to be done...Don't fight the urge...give in...give in...Do what needs to be done... The mysterious voice continued to go on in his head. It made Travis fall to his knees, and place his hands on his head. Ashley was still looking on when Ashley and Travis heard a gunshot go off. A teller, a woman, middle-aged, hunched over the teller's desk and fall to the floor dead. More screams and whimpers of fear came throughout the bank, the smoke residue from the magnum of the leader once again. He cracked a smile. As we see the men going around the bank emptying the vault. They carried the money to the 3 guys in the van, loading it up. Frustration in The Leader's voice as he spoke now.. “As I said before...we don't want any problems...The Leader's voice calmed down now. “No one needs to be a hero here..” His men move about the bank, continuing to take the money. “This bank branch is insured.. That woman..made her own choice, which was stupid...But, nevertheless... she made the choice...We got about 15 minutes before the cops come. I suggest we hurry it up now... “ The Leader said, musing himself with one of the signs at the front of the line now. Ashley looked at where Travis had been, and she saw that there was no one there. The remaining lights that weren't shot out, could be seen being hit by a weird object. They still work but they flicker now. The hostages look on in wonder at what's going on. The leader as well, through his mask. The men stop to look at the lights, and at the leader as well.. The Leader speaks in a calm voice... “No worries, back to work...” The men continue to take out the cash, and Travis continues to sneak around the teller's desk and other desks as well. One of the men standing guard, he's barely seen through the flickering lights. Travis' arms reach up around the man's throat, grabbing him quickly taking the man down. Without making a sound, there was a brief struggle but it ended quickly. Travis knocks the man out, and he's barely breathing. Travis rises slowly from his position to one knee and then keeps his head lowered. His head rises slowly, and his eyes are narrowed and focused. The flickering lights give him an eerier quality than they normally would. He takes off quickly again, and it almost seems like he disappeared in the lights. Like a wraith in the night, he disappeared, and the two men who were walking around the bank, money in their hands, made their way closer to the exit door. Travis sneaks up behind them, slowly. They're talking about the lights in a hushed whisper when an eerie ghost-like version of Travis raises up behind them. With each attack Travis makes, he looks more different than his normal appearance. His face looks whiter, more transparent in a way. His movements are that of a dead corpse like a ghost wraith as well. Extending his hands, he grabs the two men, and quickly bashes their heads together. Having them fall to the ground, with a quiet grunt. That left 2 men left, plus the leader and the 3 men outside. The leader was walking around, he couldn't see his men on the ground because of the flickering lights. One of the men broke away from the two men in the bank and started walking towards the vault area where his brothers had been taken out. The man tripped over the man who had been knocked out. He looked down and saw it was one of his buddies. He was about to call out to his leader when he saw Travis standing there grinning. The man standing there with the gun, let a loud scream having it cut short by Travis. His hand closed around the man's face, and Travis sent the man crashing to the floor. The man had let out a couple of rounds of shots from his AK, having it light up the bank and the other hostages screamed in fear. The man standing next to his leader friend looked on in the dark area of the bank, seeing the lights flicker on and off. The man standing next to the Leader, he had a scared look on his face, while his gun remained drawn. Shaking in his hands, “What the Hell? Jenson... Jenson!!!” He looked at the Leader, fear in his eyes.. “What the Hell...Where the Hell is everyone? What the Hell is going on?” The Man nervously asked, his gun still shaking in his hand. The leader grabbed the man roughly pulling him close and whispered in an agitated tone of voice. Anger mixed with the tone of his voice as well.. “Listen you piece of sh*t.. We didn't get this far to turn back because some hick teller wants to play cowboy...The boss ain't going to be too pleased when he finds out that we pussed out, because some Samaritan, decided he wants to play cowboy.. We're almost out of here, and I won't be the jackass who has to go tell the boss we failed at a simple bank robbery...” The Leader angrily said, shoving the man aside roughly. It nearly made the man fall to the ground. The man nervously shook his head, in agreement with that statement. He made his way to the bank vault when the leader heard the man's screams of terror get cut short. The man who had taken him out could be seen in the shadows. The Leader can't see his face, all he could see is the silhouette of his body and his fists. A cocky smirk could be seen on his face, but that's all he could see. The leader calls it on his radio. Now, he's more than angry. He's a little freaked out by what he saw, “Now...I don't know..if you're new in town or have a death wish... But, you have no idea who you're messing with!” The man in the shadows grins darkly once more, apparently not scared or convinced by his threat. Not taking it seriously, then two of his men run up to the leader with their machine guns drawn. They open fire at the man in the shadows, and the crowd of hostages cowers in fear. Covering their heads for protection from the wildfire that the guns were giving off. The man in the shadows ran off and dove behind the teller's desk, the men who had continued to fire on the desk had run out of bullets. The smoke residue comes off the muzzles of their AKs, they drop their clips and reload another round. One of the men speaks in a thick northern accent. “ Shall we lay another round in him, boss? No way anyone could survive that...” He said, loading another mag back into his gun, keeping it drawn on that spot. The Leader looked at the teller's desk with trepidation in his eyes. Seeing all the bullet holes against the wood grain of the desk seemed to put a slight smile on his face yet the nervous look remained the same. The emergency lights kicked back on and the crowd still crouching in fear. The leader wasn't stupid, he was more intelligent than his henchmen were. He knew the man whoever he was, was out of reach. He heard the cop sirens in the background. The Leader spoke in a more calm and confident tone of voice than before.. “Naw..let the rat stew, we have what we need...” He said looking into the security camera that was pointing at him. A mysterious figure in the shadows watching the security footage at a desk. All that could be seen is the mysterious figure's arms. Covered in a suit, clicking off the security footage. Travis hunkered down behind the desk with Ashley now. The leader cracked a smile and made a hand motion. “Clear out now! Leave the rest...” The Leader said, referring to his killed comrades. They take off, and the van peels out of the parking lot. Near the outside of the bank a few moments later the cops arrive with fire trucks and ambulances as well. All the cops and medical E.M.Ts come running into the bank once again seeing all the hostages being helped by the cops. The corners were taking off all the dead hostages and robbers the mysterious figure killed. He left no one alive behind, with few minimal casualties. Ashley whispered to Travis, “Where were you through all of this?” Ashley asked while she was giving the police her official statement. Travis was giving his own statement while avoiding the cameras on the t.v. Crew giving a fake name as well. “We're done now...” Travis said to the cop who had been trying to get more information out of the two. The cop nodded his head and took off to question more people. Travis took Ashley by the hand, and they quickly made their way out of the bank. Avoiding the cameras and news people there. They were driving back to Ashley's' home when she looked at Travis again. Travis looked on, he knew that she was expecting an answer. He also couldn't shake the voice in his head, that had been going on. Do what needs to be done.. Don't fight that urge in you...We'll be meeting soon.. The voice kept, echoing through his head. Travis looked on through the window and then heard what Ashley had asked him. He looked at her and cracked a smile. “Well.. It's quite simple.. I went off to fight the guys and kicked their asses..”He thought to himself. “I use to be a cop, and I knew there was a panic button underneath the teller's desk. They have one under each computer station at the bank. I waited till the lights were flickering on and off... And the chaos started, to push the button. That's why the cops even came when they did. I'm sorry if I worried you..But, something had to be done...”He said to her. Travis saw the skeptical look on her face, and then she returned it to the road. He looked back out the window. Thinking about what had happened. He looked at his hands, he killed those men. The urge to kill them had been even stronger than ever. It was like, something in him had been telling him to do this. He opened and closed his hands and saw the city skyline through the window as they continued down the highway back to the burbs and to Ashley's' house. There were still so many questions that needed to be answered.. “Who was he, how did he get these powers?” All these questions were going through his head, and he knew that what he had done at the bank had made a huge impact on the world today. The world was a darker place than he remembered. They were in the future, yet everything remained the same. He saw images of a young girl laughing and playing with him.. He saw flashes of a woman with him as well, pregnant and laughing at the two playing. Trish?...Sarah?... He thought to himself, remembering their names and faces.. Then he heard another voice in his head. It was the same that had been going through his head in the bank. Travis thought in his head, “Whose there? What do you want?” The voice in his head said a little shaky, unsure of itself to the mysterious stranger it was meeting in his subconscious. The mysterious voice started speaking, it was an eerie sound, that seemed to echo throughout the confines of Travis' head. “The life you knew, the life you once had... is now gone...” When the voice is saying this, there are images of his family, and his life that begin to melt away. “The world is a terrible place..full of evil and corruption... You have been chosen..”The Mysterious voice continued to speak to him, he wasn't scared of this voice. Even though it was eerie sounding, it sounded female. To him anyways.. A strange symbol, a strange creature in his head appears slowly. “This is your destiny, you have been chosen...”The female voice said in his mind once more. It was Travis who spoke this time in his head, they were still driving down the street. Travis must have nodded off to sleep. “Chosen...? For what...? I..I..Never wanted any of this..” They continued down the road, and pain could be heard in his voice, sadness and sorrow could be felt as well. There had also been a kind of defiance mixed in as well. The Mysterious female voice continued, Travis had forgotten they were driving down the road. He fell asleep next to her, and she let him rest. “When your body was destroyed and you left Earth...your soul sought out vengeance for what was done to you. You had no choice in the matter. Your soul made the deal, and that's why you came back.. That's why you're here...the moment you were destroyed, the moment the life left your body...the deal was made...the contract was signed...We'll be meeting soon...” The Voice faded soon, but not from memory. He was woken up suddenly by a hand on his shoulder. He woke up suddenly, startled by the hand on his shoulder. Travis's breathing was heavy when he looked around and noticed he was in the car with Ashley. He let out a sigh of relief when Ashley spoke to him.. “Sorry to wake you...you seemed peaceful.. I didn't want to wake you up..” She said to him, stopping the car at the house driveway. She said softly smiling at him. He looked at her, suddenly and then looked at the house they were at. He looked and took a deep breath. Ashley could see the look Travis had on his face, and she was concerned herself. “Bad dream...?” She asked him while she stopped the car. Travis looked out the window in the garage, “You have...no..idea...” Travis said. He gave her a reassuring look, which seemed to satisfy her for now anyway. She got out of the car, and he stayed in the seat for a minute. Looking at himself in the mirror, “Why me?....Why?” He asked himself once again. Inside another familiar home setting, was The home of Trish. Everyone was getting ready to eat dinner. Trish was preparing dinner in the kitchen when she felt something strange in her heart, and she heard, “Why me?... Why? It was rib night and Sam was there as well. It was later that day, in the evening. Sarah came into the kitchen now, seeing her mother standing there lost in thought with a knife in her hand. “Not planning on a killing spree are we mom?” Sarah asked her. This seemed to snap Trish out of her trance, and she looked over at Sarah who began helping her out with the food. Trish looked at the knife and shook her head. “Sorry, something was on my mind.. let's get the food out before they turn into animals and eat each other..” Trish said, Sarah laughed and carried out the food to them. Trish looked on in the mirror and saw a faint image in the window. “Trav...?” She thought to herself before the image disappeared. She shrugged it off and continued on with the dinner. Lewis is in the living room watching Sam wrestle with the kids Travis and Chris. They were giving him more than he could handle, and he couldn't help but continue to laugh. The t.v. Had been on, but it had been on mute. We go back to watching Trish and Sarah cook together. They were hearing the kids and Sam wrestling in the living room, hearing their loud noises. Sarah shook her head, while she came back to get more food.. “You'd think, they're killing someone in there..” She said, while It made Trish smile she still had the thought that someone was watching her in her mind. She shrugged it off but once again, had thoughts of her former husband Travis. She looked at the t.v. And saw the news come on. She flipped the volume up, hearing the news reporter talk. “Guys! You need to see this!” Trish shouted to everyone in the room. Lewis and Sam came running into the kitchen followed by the boys who sat down at the table. Lewis and Sam sat on the island. Sarah handed him a beer. Sam smiled, thanking her, calling her “sweetie” it made Lewis and Trish smile at each other while the News Reporter spoke through the microphone. “ What can only be described as an incredible shock today, we stand here outside the bank. Today, this bank had been robbed, 15 people were held hostage.. 2 security guards were gunned down, as well as a female bank teller..But, that's not what has people buzzing all over the Internet and all around the world. The Silent Avenger... Is what people have dubbed this man... This bank was held up by 6 men,” there are signs of men being taken down by a mysterious figure, the flickering lights they couldn't see his face. All the cameras could see was him taking out the men single-handed.. “This man not only stopped the crime, but he had also saved the lives of 15 civilians today. Law enforcement officials refuse to comment on this vigilante, however, we can assume.. He's on the side of justice, and in a world, this corrupted...It's about time, is all this reporter has to say...It's about time...” The Reporter was continuing to say, when Trish turned the t.v. Off for everyone to sit down for dinner. Sarah said in an impressed tone to her voice, “I think it's cool... To be honest, people need to start standing up for things around here... The world is a dark place, I just wish..More people would be like that guy..” She said, handing the boys some veggies, seeing them feed them to the dog when she passed the plate to everyone else. Lewis and Sam looked at each other. They started to eat as well when it was Lewis who spoke this time. The boys remained quiet while they were eating and texting on their smartphones at the same time under the table. Lewis Myers spoke this time, his tone of voice was hard to read while he ate. “ I don't think he's much of a hero... Well, he did save those hostages... He killed all those men, without even thinking about it...” He said digging into his ribs, taking a pause he cleaned himself and took a drink of beer. “I think this guy is foolish...The only thing that's going to happen for this guy, is that he's going to get caught by us.. Or whoever had been in charge of that bank job, will take notice and hunt him. Either way..He's a dead man... Do you want to know why there aren't any heroes in the world? The world can't accept them... “ “They see this man as a hero now, but give it time..they will hate him, and turn on him. No one takes the law into their own hands. I don't think this is an isolated incident, I think we're going to see more of this man... I just hope he knows what he's doing...Because sooner or later... it'll come crashing down...” Lewis said, while taking another bite of food, getting on the boys for feeding the dog at the table. The rest of them continued to eat their dinner and finished the meal. Sarah looked on at Sam and he smiled back at her, they finished their dinner and decided to head out for the evening. Ashley and Trish didn't live very far from the outside of the city, it was about a 20-minute drive across the highway, into the burbs. The city was close to them, they wanted to live outside the city but not too far away where Lewis could get to work quickly if he needed to. Sam had an apartment in the city as well, and that's where Sarah and he were headed. They were driving in his car, it was getting darker when they were making their way to the city. Travis had been sitting alone in his room. It was dark, but he had a light on, giving a soft glow of light from the light bulb. A man entered the room and sat down on the bed next to Travis. It was Tyler again, Travis looked at him and gave a half-heartened smile to him. Tyler sat next to him. Tyler looked on and spook quietly, at the t.v. Was on but the volume was turned down low, Travis hadn't really felt like watching. Tyler spoke calmly to him... “ I heard about the bank robbery today... Don't worry, Ashley doesn't know, but, you forget... I saw the grave..same as you did. I know that it was you son... and I also know it was you who did that to those poor men there..” Tyler said to him, turning his gaze back to the t.v. “I..killed those men... without even thinking about it.. Not very heroic...” Travis said to him, looking down at his hands with a sigh. Tyler placed a hand on his shoulder, “It was a very heroic thing you did. Not only did you save my daughter's life.. You saved the lives of all those other people, if you hadn't killed those men, they would have killed everyone.. Because of what you did, my grandson can say goodnight to his mother..I just wanted to say, that I'm proud of what you've done.” “I know, whatever changes you're going through..Must be difficult...But, know you have a friend to talk to... I'll keep your secret, my friend, however, Silent Avenger. Sounds kind of tacky in my opinion, I'd drop that name..” He got up, which made Travis smile at the statement. Tyler looked back at Travis and tossed him a pair of keys. “I have seen you eyeballing it, it's the least I can do..Besides...getting too old to ride her anyways...” Tyler grinned and walked out of the room. Travis sat back down and continued to think. He thought about everything he did at the bank, and how it was the right thing to do. If he caught them, they'd go to jail and be out in a month doing the same thing they were put away for in the first place... Travis continued to think when his thoughts wandered elsewhere... Sam and Sarah arrived at Sams' apartment. They decided to go to a movie and they wanted to walk, the theater was close to his apartment, so they decided to walk. The theater was close to their apartment and they walked to the movies. Travis had been in his bedroom and a searing pain washed through his head. It made him hunch over, and clutch his head. He groaned intensely from the pain from the sudden attack, and he sees image randomly flash around his mind. Travis rose to his feet, and clutches his head once again. His eyes roll in the back of his head and all he sees are the whites of his eyes now. He sees random flashes again, and he sees two people now..a woman and a man being attacked by four men in an alley. It was Sarah and Sam, they were being attacked. Travis continued seeing these images, hearing their pain and cries of torture, feeling it deep within his body. Travis cried out in pain while falling to the floor on his knees. “What's..going on? What's happening..to me?” Travis asked himself. Travis stands up a bit shaky from the intense visions and stumbles over to the vanity desk that was there, looking at the mirror. More images of the same people were seen flashing through his head now. Travis grabbed his hair and slammed his fist on the furniture. The Mysterious female voice comes back to his thoughts once more, when he sees the people in trouble. “These people...are in need of help.. what you are seeing is the future.. This ability is an ability you will learn to hone over time and practice... Whenever someone is in trouble, you will get a feeling.. you will receive the knowledge of his and the foresight in order to help them before such events take place. This is known as Angel Sight... this ability will help you on your quest.. These people...need your help... it's time...time to go...Safe journey on your travels...” The Mysterious voice said, fading away from his head and own thoughts leaving him to his own. The pain in his head subsided but the nagging feeling was still there. He saw the location and he knew where he had to go. He went into the garage and smiled, it was a black, Harley motorcycle. He kicked the license plate off the end of the bike and backed it out of the garage. He put on his black helmet and tinted visor, wearing a black leather jacket and black boots. He peeled out of the driveway and rode into the night. It was dark but he could see, he could see everything clearly. He knew his mission, and he hoped he wasn't late. He was wearing black leather gloves while he continued to ride down the road, we see flashes of the event beginning to happen. Sam could handle himself, but these guys were bigger than him and there were 4 of them. Sam was trying to protect Sarah but he was getting beat up by the two men while the other men were holding Sarah watching and laughing. It didn't seem like it had taken that long to get there, because he could see it happening before and he made it just in time to see them being beaten on. He kept the bike idle Sarah looked on at the man with a pleading look in her eyes. Sam had been breathing heavily, one eye was opened and the other had been punched shut. One of the scumbags looked on and spoke angrily to him, “This ain't none of your business friend.. Piss off, before something bad happens..” He said while he went back to concentrating on the two. Travis said nothing at first, staring at them through his helmet. Travis's right fist clenched in his glove and he spoke in a dark voice, quietly.. “Actually...it is...” The other men looked on and leaned in.. “What was that? Couldn't quite make that out...” He said. Travis stared on still.. Getting off his bike slowly, he made his way to them. His walk almost was like a glide.. Sam tried to move when he got kicked again, groaning more. Sarah shook herself free and knelt down to him. Travis walked up to them, making the four men back off of Sarah and Sam. Sam tried to move to adjust himself in a better position where she held onto him. Travis stood in between the four men and the two victims. Keeping his helmet looking at them, Sarah looked on. The fear and terror had been replaced in her eyes, now it seemed like she was curious and relieved as well. One of the men threw a punch at Travis, he caught the man's fist in his own hand. He used that man's fist to connect to the other man's face. Having that man crash against the wall, falling to the ground. Travis still had the man's hand in his fist, squeezing harder, causing the man to scream in pain. Two other men on the right and left side of the leader ran to Travis, and he dodged their attacks while holding onto the man's hand. He kicked one hard in the stomach and sent the other crashing into the wall as well. The man that remained hunched over from the kick, he spun-kicked the man whose fist he was holding into the man who had been hunched over. The kick was so powerful that it sent the two men crashing into the other wall. They actually made a crack in the brick alleyway wall and slumped over.. He looked at the man, their leader. He made his way to the leader, and kicked his knee hard, breaking it and having him fall to the ground in pain. He was backing away slowly, while Travis continued to walk slowly toward him. The Leader of the group, fear in his voice begged him.. “Please...Mercy..” He spat out in pain again, backing away slowly. Travis broke another bone in his body, causing the man to cry out in pain. Travis spoke out in a dark and angered tone to the guy... “Mercy...” He broke another bone in his foot, causing the man to scream.. “Would you have given mercy to these kids?” He grabbed the man's collar, hoisting him up in the air, and pushing him against the wall. His voice raised in anger again “Tell Me! Would you have given mercy to these kids!”He yelled darkly, punching the man in the stomach.. Whispering darkly to the man, hunched over in pain.. “That's what I thought...” He felt the man squirm against his grasp, and he felt a voice in his head, telling him to do it..Do it... He continued holding the man in the air, and he felt something in him grow.. He grabbed the man's throat, squeezing the life out of him. Travis remembered the men at the bank he killed, so easily. Not thinking about their lives and families, or the consequences of his soul for doing that... He fought and wrestled with the urge to kill him when Travis said in his dark voice... “No...” Travis said darkly, and punched the man hard in his stomach, knocking him out. He let the man fall to the ground. He turned his helmet back to Sarah.. “I suggest you call the cops, they'll be out for a while until they get here. He'll be alright...” Travis said darkly through his helmet, he looked at Sam. He started walking off to his bike, and he got back on, kicking the foot stand up. Sarah came to him and asked him something. She was still a bit shaky from the attack, nervous tone could be heard in her voice when she spoke to the strange man before her. “Who are you?” She asked quietly to him. Travis thought that over for a moment, and it just came to him. It was like it had been a part of a deep sleep, a beast that had been quietly laying dormant until now. He grinned through his helmet visor. In his dark and somewhat eerie voice, Travis spoke now.. “Call me...The Reaper...”He said darkly and took off on his motorcycle into the night. Disappearing into the night's' sky, like a Ghost. Leaving no trail that he was even there, to begin with. Sarah looked on watching while she went back to Sam, dialing her phone she called the police, waiting for them to get there.
