confessions of a former party girl,

First came a friendship. Two of New York’s brightest (and wildest!) stars captivated the media. Press and fans alike couldn’t stop talking about Birdie Sheppard and Caroline McCook just dying to see what type of trouble could find the two best friends. The world seemed to paint a picture of the two girls as vapid, shallow and queens of New York nightlife.

Caroline and Birdie are all grown up now with successful careers, relationships and an exciting new project that they can’t wait to share. Birdie has stolen the hearts, gained multiple awards, and started to steal respect in Hollywood with her role as “Cassie” in Euphoria, HBO’s hottest show that tackles some of the darker subjects in a teens life. With two emmy nominations for "Euphoria" and "The white Lotus", there's nothing that she can't do. Caroline has made a name for herself in the fashion industry, with her brand “Xoline”, featured on Ru Paul’s Drag Race and countless other productions. Her beauty brand is thriving, she’s known as the princess of Tik Tok. Both Birdie and Caroline have started to prove that they are more than just a “former party girl” and they’re taking control of their own narrative while maintaining their years-long friendship. ‘

Q: I’d love to start with a simple question that I’m not sure if either of you have ever answered publicly, how did the two of you meet?

C: weeeeeeell, we met in a club bathroom, it was for sure a club that we had no business of being in since we were like 17, but we were in this bathroom and there was this girl who's losing her mind because her boyfriend had kissed another girl on the dance floor, so we're both just like awkwardly comforting this girl, and I was like, "honestly, he looks like he smells like hot cheetos." and Birdie thought that was super funny, and then we were like attached at the hip ever since.

B: oh my gosh, that was probably one of the funniest things I'd ever heard, because..well..he did. I wonder if the hot cheeto guy realizes that he was basically the catalyst that brought us together? anyway, the moment I heard her say that I knew we had to be friends.

Q: it's pretty impressive that you've both managed to maintain such a close friendship throughout the years. In all that time, I'm sure you have accumulated many great stories between the two of you, care to share any with us now?

C: I mean, there's so many, we tend to find a decent amount of trouble. I think one that we've both been thinking about recently is we did a campaign forever ago together, it was for an athletic brand, I won't call them out, but it was honestly a horrible time. The photographer was such a d*ck, can I say d*ck in a magazine? but he was, he kept pushing us for more skin, or more this and more that. And someone shows up, and is like, "you can't talk to these girls like that, they're going to sue." and he literally goes, "Them? What's a hottie and princess going to do? they're dumb blondes." and we heard them, and we just walked out, and did indeed sue...I'll let Birdie tell you the second part of this story, cause it does directly inspire our special project.

B: right. yeah we were pretty pissed, and justifiably so! but the moment we were able to take a step back we were both like...the hottie and the princess? kinda love that! and it really just stuck. I mean to this day caroline is princess in my phone.

Q: wow, so you both took something negative and made it into something positive.

B : exactly! i think we've both kinda always been that way. if you wanna say something demeaning about us, we'll turn around and make it into something empowering.

C: I think that's the best revenge for us, and he tried to use these words to insult us, but who doesn't want to be a called hot and a princess? Like, we didn't even let him insult us, because we took it and now it's our thing. We even found those like, licenses plates that you can buy in the street, that said "hottie and princess" and we sort of half stole them. I mean, the place was closed, and we did leave cash but is that stealing?

Q: and that licenses plate directly inspired your upcoming collaboration on a collection, yeah? How has it been working together?

B: yes! the license plates directly inspired the packaging for the palettes. we wanted something personal to us, that gave sort of an inside look at our friendship and that really seemed perfect. the whole process of working together, from deciding on the packaging to the colors and what products we wanted has really been fairly easy. I think the hardest part was really narrowing down our ideas because once we got into that creative mind frame it was like we got carried away.

Q: scrapped ideas? does that mean we could possibly see another collaboration from the two of you in the future?

B: never say never!

C: I meaaaan, who doesn't want to work with their best friend?

Q: You've mentioned that you've both grown up, why do an entire collection leaning into the image that you're trying to shed?

C: the same reason "princess and hottie" took over, we can't force people to change their minds about us but we can take what they're saying about us and turn it into something we're proud of. And while we have grown up, and we're adults, we did have a lot of fun, and it's how we met, it's sort of giving that time in our life a place to shine while also reminding the world that we're not just former party girls, we're women with goals, talents and we're damn hard working, you know?

B: yes, exactly! plus, you know, we both have no problem kinda poking fun at the image that the media has painted of us.

Q: as i mentioned earlier, it's quite admirable that you've both managed to maintain this closeknit of a friendship as you have over the years, especially given how the media has a way of often fabricating stories of feuds between women. how have you managed to overcome some of the negativety that this lifestyles often drives a wedge between friendships?

B: i think that, for us, it's always been about trust and communication. i remember a few years back, there was this article that took something caroline had said about me completely out of context and warped it into something totally negative. I remember seeing that and just think, like, caroline would never say that about me.

C: For some reason, the media just doesn't like seeing women succeed, and they especially don't like seeing women succeed together. I saw that, and I immediately called Birdie. I didn't even have to explain because she knew that I'd never, just like I know she'd never. We know that unfortunately, some media outlets, are vultures. Birdie and I can't even go to pilates without being photographed, so we just trust each other, communicate and are really grateful that at the end of the day, we'll always have each other.

Q: We know that fans are certainly obsessed with "Birdoline", we see it trending basically every single time you're seen together, but fans are equally, or maybe even more so crazy about following your relationships. Both of you have settled down with two of the most talented singers in the world right now, Harry Styles and Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye, do you get along with each others partners? Do you all hang out?

C: I adore Harry! As both a person and as Birdie's boyfriend. He loves her so much, and honestly, is so much fun. Birdie and I are sort of a package deal so I think anyone that we would've gotten serious with would've had to be okay with that. And they are! There's no one I would trust with my best friend's heart more. And yeah, we're all menaces when we're together, 'causing trouble, but all the fun.

B: I couldn't think of anyone better suited for Caroline than Abel, you literally see his face light up whenever she enters the room...and vice versa! i geniunely love the love that they share for one another. and it makes me so happy that we all get on so well because we truly are a package deal. i don't think either of us could ever settle down with anyone who couldn't handle the both of us together, or forbid, didn't get along with each other.

Q: so we can expect you and Harry to be in attendance at Caroline and Abel's wedding in October?

B: i mean...is that even a question?

C: There's no way that I could get married without my best friend, it just wouldn't feel right without them there! I don't think there ever was a moment that we were like worried they wouldn't get along. They're both goofballs, it's really a good time any time we're all able to get together.

Q: What's one piece of relationship advice that you'd give to our readers?

C: I think the most important thing is to respect your partner and communicate. It's kinda similar to how Birdie and I have been friends so long without any type of blowing up. Abel and I have never even had a fight, and I think it's because we just communicate everything. And we're respectful of each other's feelings. Abel's really big on respect, and has always put respecting me above everything else, and I do the same for him.

B: mutual respect and communication is definitely key, i think those are the two factors that have always been absent from previous relationships. I guess I can't just regive Caroline's advice though! I guess another really important piece of advice is to not take things too seriously. honestly one of my favorite aspects of our relationship is that Harry and I aren't afraid to poke fun at one another. we're really just as much friends as we are anything else.

Q: that's solid advice from the both of you. what kind of advice would you, today, give to your younger selves during your party girl days? is there anything you wish you could change?

B: wow, that's such a good question! there isn't much i would change, i don't think either of us would be the strong women we are today without some of those experiences. though, i'd definitely want to tell my younger self be wary of certain people..not everyone has your best intentions at heart, regardless of who they are.

C: I think if I had to give advice to baby party girl Caroline, I would tell her to love herself enough to not accept anything less than she deserves. I spent a lot of time trying to fix people who frankly didn't care about me, and it was exhausting. I think I would urge her to find self worth in everything rather it be business, relationships or family.

Q: It's amazing to see how much the two of you have, for lack of better words, grown up and grown up together. Now that you're launching this collection dedicated to your past selves, can you tell us what's included? give us a little sneak peak?

C: I think we can give you a little somethin' somethin', the collection is very thought out and we really tried to make sure it was wearable for everyone. The two biggest showstoppers in our collection is the "Hottie" and the "Princess" eye shadow palettes, that come in these cute packaging that looks just like our licenses plates that we stole, the ones we mentioned earlier. It's ten shades in each palette that we designed ourselves!

B: there was so much thought and consideration put into everything with this collaboration, from what items we really wanted to work on, down the the smallest of details of our packaging! along with the two eyeshadow palettes our collection will include three lipsticks and matching lip liners. you can expect high quality eyeliners made to withstand long wear as well as several other items that you'll just have to wait and see when we preview everything.

C: We can't give you everything, but we can say that this collection was one hundred percent made by Birdie and I. We hand selected every single piece and we're really proud of it, and it's my favorite collection that "Xoline" has put out to date, we can't wait for y'all to see it all. The collection will go live September 3rd in the evening!
