Hush /Intro
Hush /intro attn: Elena mention: Tyler Lionheart /1606290 The night fell like darkness over the land. It was as if someone laid a big black blanket down on the ground. Underneath that black blanket was the Earth Below and one of the biggest traffic pile ups that Jeremy Gilbert had ever seen. The firefighter paramedic stopped to gaze at the unusual sky when one of his co-workers pulled him back. "Stop gawking Gilbert!" There was a leak of gasoline from one of the mangled cars that was starting to get a little out of control.
Jeremy knew what to do. He pulled the hose closer so as to try and disperse the gasoline safely down a drainage ditch. Once that was secure, he moved toward the driver of the damaged automobile with nothing more than scratches on him even though he was the driver. His coworker was checking out this man to ensure that he was in one piece. So far it looked like the man only had minor injuries. That was when Jeremy's blood ran cold.
The young man looked like he was maybe 19 years old. Everything about him seemed in perfect working order, with one major exception. When Jeremy's coworker asked him questions, the man could not speak. Jeremy saw the confusion on the man's face as well as that of his coworker. He moved closer to the man and began to examine the man himself. "Hey buddy. Are you alright?" He did what every paramedic would do in trying to secure the scene. The man had tears in his eyes as he tried to talk to Jeremy. The frustration was becoming quite evident. He kept opening his mouth and nothing came out.
Jeremy had remembered a text he received from Tyler back at the firehouse. He had just come on to his shift so he had not seen anything unusual or out of the way. Jeremy himself could talk with no problem. Tyler had already left for the day so Jeremy had not had a chance to even talk to his roommate. This had him worried.
Jeremy had seen Tyler in the emergency room running around like he usually did. He heard Tyler speaking to other staff at the hospital. Tyler's ability to speak was not in question. He pulled aside his coworker and asked about the man who couldn't speak. "What's going on here? Is this some sort of hysterical reaction to what happened in the accident?" His coworker Clarence was an older firefighter paramedic. Clarence had pretty much seen it all.
The older man with flecks of gray throughout his blonde hair shook his head when speaking to Jeremy. "I've never seen anything like this before in my life. Morning shift was filled with people who couldn't talk. Now here we are starting off the same way. Isn't your roommate a resident at the hospital?"
He had to admit that if anyone had the answers for a physical cause for this ailment it would be Tyler Lockwood. Something told him however that there was a lot more to this than meets the eye. "Yeah he is. Once we get to the hospital, I'll look him up and see what he has to say." Tyler nodded to Clarence and started in the direction of the other vehicle. The other unit that responded had a more dire situation on their hands.
The woman that had been hit by the oncoming car was strapped to a spine stabilizing board. She was intubated and had a full nasal cannula of oxygen going. She wasn't going to talk because she was unconscious. Jeremy had seen this too many times in the past. His colleagues had just called for a Life flight to take the girl to the nearest Trauma Center. It didn't look like she was going to make it.
Young Gilbert looked inside the vehicle from which they extracted the female victim. Next to the driver's seat written in what was obviously the blood of the victim were the words THE GENTLEMEN ARE COMING. Yeah, this just wasn't any old accident. Something was happening on a supernatural level.
He pulled out his cell phone as he moved away from the scene. The only thing he could think of was to try and get a hold of Elena. Trembling digits ran across the keyboard as he sent the message.
Elena, what the hell is happening? Are you alright? I haven't heard from you all day, and I'm starting to worry.
Jeremy sent the message. He and Clarence we're going to have to take their patient to the hospital. There had to be some answers somewhere. Even with Jeremy as a hunter, he could feel down deep in his soul that something was terribly wrong. This just might be a little bit too much for him to handle alone.
None of us are gonna make it out of this town alive.
