Drabble For Peter Pan/Devilry

"I thought we would go together."
Odette to Peter Pan

Seldom does Odette pursue Peter Pan, but curiosity strung up when he was preparing another cave. It reflected her room but with more lacy decor. Was it for another girl? Was there going to be a new guest on the island? She had a slew of questions, but Pan had already dismissed her early on. Odette crouched in front of her lake and peered at her worried expression. The feeling that slid down her throat was terrible and uncanny. This was quite unbecoming of a princess. The cruel mistress known as jealousy cascaded over her in waves. At first, it brought dread, then it sent pins and needles onto her heart with rapid succession, and lastly, it corrupted her thoughts with false occurrences. In anger, Odette brushed away her reflection. How could she be so stubborn?

Pan was left alone, per usual, at his Thinking Tree. Odette peeked from behind one of the trees examining his quizzical features. He was lost in thought and all alone. Those were two of the many things she hated. She could never guess his thoughts and if he was left alone then he wouldn’t be with her. “What is it?” He shouted to no one in particular, so it seemed. But, Odette knew he was speaking to her and walked over. Her head hung low, several blonde strands draped her distraught face. “Will we have a visitor?” Pan rolled his eyes at her question. This wasn’t her first or last attempt to get an answer to that question. “We will. And I’ll have to get them.” Odette tilted her head and nipped at the corner of her lip. He knew that look. She had more to ask and say. “Can I come with you? I thought we would go together… as we infrequently travel apart.” Without skipping a beat, he simply replied. “No.” Normally, she’d find a way to turn the tides of the conversation. She’d fight for an appropriate response that matched her needs. However, she remained silent and simply nodded. Pan furrowed his brows with a chuckle. “That’s it?” Odette nodded once more without a single word spilling from her lips. She was working on trusting others, especially Pan, so if he had good reason for not wanting to take her with him then she’d have to obey his wishes. Another eye roll signified his annoyance towards her silence. He flicked at her forehead and leaned down to meet her gaze.

“We’ll go on a better adventure together.”
