"What do you take me for?"

Trigger warnings: Edgey teenagers.
"What do you take me for?"

"An idiot most of the time."

Snorting Arlene actually expected a meaner answer, she took it in strife a part of her wanted to keep going throwing jabs at one another but the other seemed to be distracted by something other than her.

It built a small tinge of jealousy inside her - something she started feeling more and more as the days of them hanging out began to lessen.

It wasn't like she was expecting them to always be together, they weren't dating they were just very close friends and Arlene's parents weren't very fond of the friends she was starting to gather.

"Wipe that stupid look off your face."

Puzzled Arlene turned to look at him now,

"You're thinking, it doesn't look good on you."

Arlene chuckled, sitting on the concrete table as her boots scruffed themselves against the bench, making a fake salute at the other.

"Aye, Aye Cap'n hardass. I'll just follow your ever waking command."

A hint of sarcasm in her voice, though it was also true. She would follow this boy into war for him. Whether it be between an argument between themselves or against the other student body whose labeled them outcasts.

"I don't even know why I keep you around."

"Because you like me,"

A grunt thrown her way.

"Because I know all your secrets - - "

"Not all of them."

The tone in his voice seemed darker than it probably intended to be as if the mask he was wearing was slipping off, just to prove a point that not even she knew him.

Maybe she was reading to much into it but nevertheless she felt a small inkling of betrayal.

"Come on, you've got that stupid look on your face again."

Arlene shook her head before jumping off the table and dusted herself off slightly.

"Oh eat me."

A scoff from the male, "Shut the fvck up. You're lucky I'm still around you."

"Yeah yeah," Not much fight in her tone this time, "Short shxt, I'm glad you and Dyl are still around."
