i'll be with you one day [cs]
march 11th, 2003; while recording the documentary "destiny rules" which showcased fleetwood mac [minus christine mcvie] working on their first studio album since 1987's 'tango in the night' entitled 'say you will', lindsey buckingham and stevie nicks were recorded working on and recording a song that stevie had written in the 1970s entitled 'goodbye baby' in a deleted scene from the documentary, the producers asked nicks while she finally decided to release the song, as well as what was the importance of only having buckingham on the song instead of the rest of the band. "the song when i had originally written it had a different meaning to me than it does now, and it's something that women who have been through the same situations know that they aren't alone. as far as having lindsey being the only person on the song, as well as him being the only one in the studio when i was recording it? it needed to be that way, for both of us to release some of the hurt and grief -- it needed to be us two and just us two. people have guessed what the song has been about over the years, and i've never confirmed or denied anyone's thought process on the song, just know it's probably the hardest song i've ever had to record, and I'm sure lindsey feels the same way.
