Welcome to my wonderland

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”― Lewis Carroll

gone away

Kneels to the earth, hands fold and rest upon her lap. The wind is light upon pale cheeks as sorrow rests with her on this day. Veins of rust and a heart of stone, though tears fall instantly all on their own. Upon the soil above as she is so below. Hands unfold and drop to her sides to feel... to feel the blades of newly grown grasses between her slender digits. Tugs and pulls. A moment of silence as she stares at a small tombstone.

Luna Meredith Blackwood
Loving daughter, mother, wife, and friend.

Blank expression, those words were lies. Glossy orbs fixed to the ground with anger and pain in her heart. Grass pulled from the dirt and squeezed into her fists. Memories flood her thoughts of her childhood days. Even in death, she continues to deceive.

“Hah...” bursts aloud with a deep inhale following, chucking the pulled-up grass and dirt directly at the gravestone. Veronica shook her head gently, dark hues focused on the ground. A storm was brewing overhead, grey rain clouds seemed to follow her around. She hadn’t been back to her grave since the burial but she had something she wanted to say.

“Why? That is all I have ever wanted to know, mom. Why didn’t you love us? Why didn’t you care? Why would you abandon us and just leave us there? Why didn’t you try? Why didn’t you help? Why did you love him over us?”

Questions go unanswered but she felt better by asking. She had so much more to say, to yell and scream. To rage. So... so much pain. She was jealous, that her mother was gone and didn’t ever have to feel this way. Didn’t have to remember a damn thing, didn’t have to live this way. Swallowing hard, nasal passages clogging as she cried in mourning, Veronica slowly got up - on her feet. “I love you anyway.” she whispered, backing up as she tugged a hood over her head and shoved her hands into the pockets of her jacket, shielding her from the rain.

Gone away.
