lias was the former patriarch of the Coin family. He was a kind and caring man, one the town respected immensely despite his gloomy profession. Elias was the only person that James could turn to when things were tough. More importantly, he was the only one who despite not ever say he believed in her abilities, never questioned them. Elias unexpectedly died from advanced stages of lung cancer. Despite his sudden passing, James never got to speak to her father’s spirit. To this day, she almost wished he had unfinished business so that she could saying goodbye one last time.

rancesca Coin passed away in a lethal car accident when James was seven, of which James was the only survivor. Francesca was a devout Catholic who cared little for her daughter’s "delusions" of speaking to the dead. Francesca and Elias married young and despite her cold demeanor, only let her guard down around her husband. Unfortunately, Francesca died with bad blood between her and her daughter. It is something that James regrets even now. Like her father, Francesca’s spirit did not linger. Most likely because she didn’t want to admit to her daughter even in the afterlife, that she had been wrong.

ole Harper is the first man she had ever dated and is her biggest regret. James and Cole met at a National Funeral Directors convention about four years back. Cole came from a similar background as James, coming from a funerary family. He wooed her with a charming smile and a dinner at a fancy restaurant. Cole and James dated over a year before Cole dumped her in front of his buddies while pretending to propose to her. James had believed that Cole had not known about the rumors that surrounded her in Port Townsend, but he had known the whole time due to his best friend who was from her town. Not only did he humiliate her, he admitted to cheating on her their entire relationship. James is hoping he caught the clap or something of that sort.

ebastian, or better known as Bash, is probably the closest thing that James had to a boyfriend after her split with Cole. Though, it would be probably more accurate to call him an on again and off again lover. Bash was an assistant undertaker at the funeral home for about two years. Bash spent most of his life in Ireland before moving to the states after some legal issues back home. Bash is a notorious substance abuser who more often than not was high on an upper or drunk off his ass any time you spoke to him. Bash and James grew close while working together but his chaos was a ticking time bomb, one that did eventually blow. Bash ended up stealing quite a bit of cocaine from a dealer in Seattle. Because of this, he ended up needing to flee the state and James has not heard from him since. Despite the constant mess the man left behind him, she did still miss him.
