Groupwide - 11/25, Helplessness
It's hard to believe a time that she was ever truly helpless. If we think back far enough, she certainly was without power and was stripped of all humane rights that people should be given freely. As a child, she hopped from foster home to foster home without any real hope of finding herself a family. Little Raven acted like she didn't care at the time, but being placed in a home and being ripped away just as quickly was scarring for a child. After a while, she steeled herself. She became the unwanted child in the orphanage and became the chaotic misfit that no family ever wanted to take a chance on. This was only one form of helplessness that Rae had experienced. There was no hope for a life in anyone's family, so why give a f*** and try at all? It was best to hurry up the process of rejection. That way, she wouldn't naivly create any sense of false comfort. People were lying and selfish beings. They wanted the perfect child to show off and parade around like a show pony and Raven was not that.
She spent the better half of two years in the same orphanage and had burned through more families than any other child before her. Raven had lost count, realizing that it really didn't matter in the end. That was, until an older gentleman with thick glasses stalked into the building. He looked over the stock of children before his eyes stopped on little six-year-old Raven. Without blinking, he declared that she was the one that he wanted. The social workers tried to inform the old man of her issues, but he didn't change his choice. Instead, he signed the paperwork, took Raven's hand, and brought her to his limousine that waited for them.
For the first time in years, the raven haired child believed that her Hell had broken away. The clouds had dissipated and in her sight was a happy, perhaps loving home that could give her everything that a child needed. Unfortunately, that feeling only lasted so long as they were in the vehicle. After an hour long drive they arrived at a large building, two muscular men waiting just outside. Once the vehicle was parked the old man exited first before giving the men the go-ahead. "She will be tested with the most recent strain. Daily injections. I want full surveilance over her cell and, keep her separate. She doesn't play well with others."
At first, Raven thought this was some sort of sick joke. She, herself, was a little twisted but... this was taking things too far. She opened her mouth, prepared to ask for the punchline of the joke until the two large men stepped forward and began grabbing at her. They were strong and careless in how they took hold, causing reddened skin that would bruise a few hours later. She screamed, begging for her new father to save her, but he didn't look back. He never did.
For 10 years she remained locked under the Turbo City Asylum. True to his demands, her father and lead scientist of the facility made sure that she was injected daily with a strain of chaos and tested on. Raven did her best to keep her spirits up, to greet each person that came by her cell a reason to fear her and hopefully, leave her alone for the day. No matter what she did, she was tested on. She was poked and prodded, placed under horrific conditions and forced to perform like some sort of f***ing circus monkey. This bought of helplessness was a feeling she had experienced for ten years but all the while, she stayed strong. Even if she may never get out of this Hell hole... she will be certain to make their lives a living Hell. Tit for f***ing tat.
