realization.

▎    “When you look into the mirror, what do you see?”

“A girl that is lost, trying to find herself in each and every wrong way, a girl that would rather pop a pill to cope with her issues than to face them head on.”

The world turned into a blur, and that gust of wind was rattling, just rapidly circulating, and  the bold, fierceness of the howling developed an aura of grey, a fog that wouldn’t rise or fade. It was like a tangible, living force...as if a storm was coming, raging fasterand faster,  and those grey clouds became one and immobilized her; holding her captive, and left her defenseless. It felt as if she was stuck in a hurricane. She wanted to continue...but her throat was too constricted to form words, emotion just  strangling it whole. She was choking. The silence echoing in her ears was the constant white noise that never shut up. Her head swam in the fire burning inside, it was the demon of addiction riding her, urging her, to have another drink, or another pill. The devil was dancing in reflection of the flame in her eyes. The toxic life she lived would be her own demise.

Those ill winds continued howling, but it was a sense of fear that filled that void inside of her, riding against the sea, challenging the water, just refusing to let up. She was completely and utterly alone in her mind, body, soul, and most of all, entirely alone in the world.

Tears slid down her pretty face, cleansing her red cheeks. A few droplets remained, forgetting their way as the path was swept from beneath them, consequently blurring the Aja’s vision with waves of sadness. The salty release calmly flowed into her mouth so that she could taste her own sorrow.

Bitter. Unforgiving. Pain.

She could never  forgive herself for being pulled on by the big bright lights, the designer clothes, the fast money, and drugs. It was all a facade. She was lost in a lap of luxury. And she could feel herself losing control.

That is when the realization of the moment gradually seeped in. She needed to make a change.
