“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”― Lewis Carroll

Dissociative identity

Dissociative identity [previously known as multiple personality disorder] is thought to be a complex psychological condition that is likely caused by many factors, including severe trauma during early childhood [usually extreme, repetitive physical, sexual, or emotional abuse].

DID is characterized by the presence of two or more distinct or split identities or personality states that continually have power over the person's behavior. With dissociative identity disorder, there's also an inability to recall key personal information that is too far-reaching to be explained as mere forgetfulness. With dissociative identity disorder, there are also highly distinct memory variations, which fluctuate with the person's split personality.

The "alters" or different identities have their own age, sex, or race. Each has his or her own postures, gestures, and distinct way of talking. Sometimes the alters are imaginary people; sometimes they are animals. As each personality reveals itself and controls the individuals' behavior and thoughts, it's called "switching." Switching can take seconds to minutes to days. When under hypnosis, the person's different "alters" or identities may be very responsive to the therapist's requests.

Chanel Simona
PB: Barbara Palvin
[This alt personality springs from an original character named Chanel from 2016 -the same writer as V's]

Chanel is a 26-year-old young lady from a wealthy family in Paris, France. She was raised strict Roman Catholic, her father a very well known architect and a high roller in the church community. Chanel grew up rather spoiled, given anything and everything she ever wanted or ever asked for. However, she was kept on a very fine and short leash by her father. Chanel was her parents youngest child of three. With an older sister that is very successful in the fashion industry and her older brother, also very successful, in real estate. A lot was expected of Chanel from her parents.

Though she possessed a dark secret that she had been enduring for years and years. The only way to try to carry on with her days was to release the stress and put it down on a canvas.

The girl was a medium, at least as far as a simple term for it. There wasn't anyone that knew about it or would possibly understand. And if they did know about it, they would realize why her smile was always a frown. Haunted by lost souls, trying to get revenge, hoping for closure. Wanting her to help them, wanting her to allow them to control her. Even without her permission, they took over her.
Luckily, Chanel learned rather fast how to handle what was happening to her. She masked it quite well and tried to go on living as normally as possible with her art pieces being morbidly beautiful. A normal art student, painting abnormally. Little did anyone know that what was brushed upon the blank slate was not of her dreams but of a real state. A conscious view of the undead and what they wanted her to see and whom they wanted her to be. What everyone was seeing was of what she had seen.

She was being overtaken by madness, loss, and grief and was looking for a way out, a way to let go, a way to forget, even though she didn't want not to be able to see.

Lilliana "Lilli"
PB: [Withheld]
Lilliana is a young girl from a very small and poor town in Georgia, age eleven; a tender age. An orphan, along with her older brother Damien when both of their parents died in a mysterious house fire while they were at school. Once, happy children, they did not have much but still had smiles upon their little faces. Now they were just quiet kids, with sorrow-filled blank staring expressions.

With no family willing to take them in, they were given to the state, unfortunately, separated. Lilli immediately became disconnected, not uttering a word to anyone unless she was forced to by a strike of their hand or belt. She bounced from foster home to foster home, her new parents always thinking she was mentally retarded for never speaking and also for having an obsession with birds.

Lilli loves birds, they speak to her and sing pretty songs. She wished she was a bird and had wings, so she could fly, fly far far away.

Her quiet tongue only became present once separated from her brother. He was all she had left and he had always taken care of her.--Lilli had nothing to say anymore.
One stormy night, the little girl sat in her bed, gazing up at the brightly glowing moon through the window, soon overhearing her host parents whispering in the hallway. They were discussing the unexpected death of her brother and how were they to break the news to her. They assumed she would be emotionless, just as she had been on a normal basis. However, once hearing the horrible news, an overwhelming feeling of loneliness, anger, and grief rushed over her and she made a tragic decision. A decision a child her age should never think about. Hanging herself in the closet of her bedroom.
--Now eternally silent or was she?
