Having left his beloved home of Asgard, Thor returns to Midgard after bringing peace and order to the nine realms and dissolving the plans of the dark elves to wrap all realms in their particular darkness. Unbeknownst to him, it's his beguiling brother Loki, that has posed as their father, who now sits on the throne of Asgard. It took some time after the convergence to rectify all the outbursts of chaos but when the time was right he went back for the one he loves; his comrade in arms and husband, Steve Rogers.

During his time away however, chaos of a different type was happening upon Midgard and the Avengers were not only divided, but desperately broken. Steve was nowhere to be found, having taken Bucky to Wakanda, and then disappearing shortly after. This information was not easily acquired though and Thor was searching for him, to great lengths, calling upon all who could guide his journey.

Meanwhile, Loki had all but taken over in Asgard and cast their father out to a place on Midgard before returning. He set things on a frivolous path to glorify himself while the people mourned the loss of the mischievous God with daily honoring to his memory. He had also sent Heimdall off to another place and used to bifrost to his own advantage, bringing home Thor's trusted hammer, Mjolnir whilst Thor slumbered. He thought perhaps in Odin's form he might be able to lift it finally, but alas his magic was still not enough to make him worthy. So, the hammer sat upon the platform of the bifrost, a beacon of victory at keeping his blonde brother from returning or exposing his secrets. Loki encased it to keep it veiled and reinforced it with spells to keep it contained.

Back on Midgard, without his beloved hammer, Thor's strength lessened while parted and though he tried reaching for it, it could not come to him without Heimdall to open the bifrost. He tried to call home, and to call for his father to no avail. Thor felt lost for the first time and no sign of hope was helping to keep his spirits up. That was until he received word that his beloved was hiding in a foreign country. With no one else to now turn to, Thor sought out Maria Hill and explained that he needed to get to where Steve was. Without his ability of flight, he needed Midgardian transport. She arranged for a plane to take him there.

Upon landing, he saw no one, and nothing as far as the eye could see. He beat upon the door of the small craft but the men were already flying away. What was this place? For days, he walked, and hiked the terrain until he found others. The ones that found him though had not so friendly plans. No English was spoken, only noises and sounds to Thor's ears and it took only one man to bring him down. When he awoke, he was in a cell of sorts and on what seemed like a vast island. Now he does not know what he can do to free himself or how he can get to Steve, or even back home.
