A Certain Point of View: Sample #2

https://WWW.Roleplayer.Me/854769A Certain Point of View"A certain point of view?"

Standing near the ship, he looked at Artoo, sighing. "I can't do this, Artoo. I can't do it alone." "Yoda will always be with you. And so will I." "Obi-Wan." He approached to the ghostly specter of his first Master. "Why didn't you tell me the truth? You told me Vader betrayed and murdered my father." "Your father was consumed by the Dark Side. He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader. When that happened, everything Anakin Skywalker  believed in and stood for was destroyed and so was he. So what I told you is the truth... From a certain point of view."

"A certain point of view?" Luke was incredulous as Kenobi began to sit down and Luke sat beside him. "Luke, you are going to find many of us cling to our own point of views. Anakin was a good friend. When your father was a child, he had been a slave, but also an amazing pilot. My Master Qui-Gon Jinn and your mother met him on Tatooine after your mother's ship had needed a new engine and hyperdrive. Qui-Gon believed strongly in the Living Force, which most on the Jedi Council did not agree with. Qui-Gon ran into Anakin in his master's shop. Over time, Qui-Gon had grown curious about the boy and tested his blood for Midi-Chlorians. He had a high count. Higher than even Yoda's." A short pause was taken as Kenobi reflected on those days, and then he continued.
"We weren't sure what it meant then, but Qui-Gon knew the boy needed training, however, he was too old to be trained, even though he was nine. Most Jedi were brought to the Temple in their infancy back in those days. That is what made Anakin such an highly unique individual. The Masters were unconvinced to train him. Qui-Gon asserted that the boy was the Chosen One, the one destined to bring balance to the Force and destroy the Sith."

"A prophecy? That had to have been... burdensome for him." Luke said. "Yes. Qui-Gon was determined to have him trained, even if the Council wouldn't allow him to. He declared he would take Anakin on as a Padawan Learner. But that was against the Code because I was still a Padawan myself, but I defiantly told them I was ready for the Trials that would soon make me become a Jedi Knight. However, things were not to go as planned. When we had to return to your mother's home planet of Naboo, we faced the Sith individual Qui-Gon had encountered on Tatooine. We dueled and won, but the loss proved to be too great; Qui-Gon had died, but not before asking me to train Anakin because he believed Anakin would bring balance. I promised and took it upon myself to train Anakin. I thought I could instruct him as well as Qui-Gon. I was wrong.".

"But surely you did your best." Luke said taking the story in. "Perhaps I did." Ob-Wan replied, "But it was not enough. Your father began having dreams, visions. Haunting visions. He had dreamed of the death of your grandmother and went to Tatooine while on a mission to protect your mother. It had only been ten years since they saw each other last. However, by the time he saved her it was too late. She had been tortured by Sand People. It was the beginning of his near descent to the Dark Side. But when the Clone Wars started, that's when everything changed. He was no longer the happy excitable boy he had been as a Padawan. The war took its toll on him even when he'd been Knighted. Somewhere along the line, the Emperor sensed Anakin's power, and he lured him to the Dark Side."
Obi-Wan's voice grew emotional this time as he reveled in the memory.. "I was on an assignment while Anakin had his own, to spy on the Chancellor, who did become the Emperor. He pledged his loyalty to the Sith and had murdered every single Knight, Master and Padawan at the Temple... even younglings." He exhaled and continued, his words laden with a heavy weight of burden. "I saw the holo recordings of the younglings slaughtered. Your father was already gone on yet another assignment, to kill the Separatist leaders. But I had no idea where he went. I went to confront your mother to ask her where he went or if she knew. Your mother did not tell me, even though I told her what happened. I had noticed she was pregnant with you. I had no choice but to sneak aboard her starfighter. We came to Mustafar..."
He was very close to the hardest memory he would be haunted by for the rest of his lifetime. "Your father and mother argued. Then I sensed he was Force choking your mother. I told Anakin to stop, that it was enough. Anakin had let her go but she was unconscious. The two of us talked. I tried to dissuade your father, to plead him to come back to the Light. But your father had fallen too far. We fought. He activated his saber and I did with mine. The fight was long and exhaustive. We fought for hours on end. We knew each other very well, and yet we both felt like strangers on the opposite coin. I gained the upper hand and was the victor. I had jumped on a lava bank, and had the high ground. Your father, being as arrogant and cocky as ever, attempted to jump after I warned him not to. I cut off his limbs and one of his hands, and took his lightsaber from him. Your father began to burn from the lava. It was gruesome and it would have been kinder to kill him than to let him suffer. But I just didn't have it in me to kill him. He was like my brother. Soon I had dropped your mother to Polis Massa, where you were born.." He would wait for Luke to ask about his twin sister, he wanted to make the connection. "There is still good in him." Luke said, believing it with his heart, and was trying to keep his composure as he listened to the deceased Master's tale.. The fact Obi-Wan's hubris had hurt him, and how hard it had to have been for him to fight his father was still a lot to take in.
"That's also what your mother said. But he's more machine than man now, twisted and evil. You cannot escape your destiny. You must face Darth Vader again." "I can't kill my own father."  Luke exclaimed, not liking the idea. Obi-Wan's shoulder slumped. "Then the emperor has already won. You were our only hope." "Yoda spoke of another." Luke said, recalling Yoda's final words clearly. "The other he spoke of was your twin sister. She will find it no easier than you to defeat Darth Vader." "But I have no sister." Luke insisted, confused now more than ever. "When you were both born, you were both separate and completely hidden. The Emperor knew, as I did, that if Anakin were to have any offsprings, they would be a threat to him. That is why your sister remains safely anonymous." He took in Kenobi's words and then came to a sudden realization as his brain racked all the pieces together.. Now it made sense. "Leia! Leia's my sister." "Your insight serves you well. Bury them deep down, Luke. Although they do you credit, they could be made to serve the Emperor. Gaze on me now, Luke. The coming battle will not be easy. But you must never give into despair, and you must not let the Emperor sense any vulnerability. Remember your training. Trust in the Force and in yourself." Luke nodded, as he looked up at his Master, taking a deep breath.
