mickey 'mj' hudson jr ain't shit free but fallin out
MJ was born in Santa Cruz, California to young parents Mickey and Pamela. His father was a college professor and his mother a worked as a real estate agent. When he was very young his mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. She developed a severe case of pneumonia and succumbed to the infection, passing away when he was four years old. His father took her death hard, and never fully recovered. He began heavily drinking and missing lectures. Eventually he was removed from his position at the college due to misconduct, and their home was foreclosed on. MJ and his father moved in with aunt in a small two bedroom on Edgrace Lane. Life spiraled quickly after that. Mickey's drinking got heavier and without anyone to look after him MJ started getting in trouble pretty regularly. He developed a thick skin due to the bullying he endured at school for his father's belligerent visits to the school during bouts of drinking.
There were two friends who stuck my MJ's side. Neighborhood kids who lived on his road that he spent most of his time with. He met Jasika when he was still a toddler, she was the daughter of one of his mother's friends, and her mother took better care of him than his own family did. Jasika and MJ were mostly on their own, until Martin moved to town. Martin wasn't from California. His family moved from the midwest when the kids were 11 and he didn't fit in well, but that made him a great fit for their group.
Together the three of them were pretty untouchable. Martin was smart as a whip, and though he didn't have the same prowess as Jasika and MJ no one really bothered him, because they knew what would happen if they did. Fighting came easy for MJ, it felt like he'd been doing it his entire life. Fighting for love, fighting for respect, fighting what he thought was an inevitable decline that would turn him into his father, and then.. just fighting. The school counselor intervened, trying to redirect the young boy's energy to something productive, and he found it. MJ didn't believe in callings or destiny or anything like that, but surfing was a puzzle piece that just fit perfectly with him. He'd always been athletic, he'd been skateboarding as long as he could remember, but taking on the waves was different.
Being in the ocean wasn't new, but harnessing it the way you have to, finding the way to tame it just enough to ride it was something else entirely. He made it his purpose to teach Jasika and Martin how to surf, and it paid off in the long run. After high school Jasika began taking classes online to be a nurse, like her mother, and Martin began attending UC Santa Cruz. Without the grades or the money college was out of the question for MJ. He found a job working at a surf shack on the beach while he was still in high school, and after graduating he began providing lessons to young surfers.
MJ is a party type of guy, even if his friends do mellow him out a bit. He'll try anything once, and he's willing to whatever it takes to protect himself and his friends and family. He's been in trouble more than a few times for drug possession, partying, underage drinking, vandalism, and theft - but rap sheet aside, he tries to be a good person. He strays from time to time, but he's always looking for a way to claw himself out of the life he's been dealt, and it often lands him and his friends in trouble.
status Oblivious Crush since 2015 to whom Martin Richards Comment MJ has always had a soft spot for Martin. While it's clear to the people around them, Jasika and her mother especially, neither seems to pay any mind to how close they are. Closer than friends tend to be. MJ would do anything for Martin, and the other way around. They're twin flames who burn brighter when they're together. Not to mention that MJ has been harboring a crush on him since they were in middle school, even if he is oblivious to it.
