Sulpicia is Aro's wife. He had decided to choose a human and create a mate rather than look for his match in another vampire, since he feared that such a relationship would complicate his plans. He had a certain type of woman in mind and found what he looked for in Sulpicia. He courted her successfully and made her agree to become a vampire and become his wife. They remain totally loyal, devoted to and in love with each other. Aro values her life more than his talented guard members, as he always makes sure that she is closely protected, even in Volterra.
Aro was born in Greece in the 1300s B.C. He was transformed into a vampire in his mid-twenties and joined forces with Marcus and later, Caius, and together with Caius's wife, Athenodora, they created the Volturi coven.
Approximately a decade after becoming a vampire, Aro changed his younger sister, Didyme, in the hope that she would develop an ability related to his, as well as his future wife, Sulpicia. However, Didyme was blessed with an ability not as useful to him; the power to make people happy. Aro's colleague Marcus fell in love with her, and she with him. However, Marcus and Didyme eventually became discontent. In order to prevent their leaving the Volturi, Aro killed Didyme: Marcus was too integral to his plans to lose. Aro had Chelsea use her ability to ensure Marcus remained loyal to the Volturi, and Marcus never found out the truth. However, this experience made Aro and Caius realize how vulnerable they could be if their mates met the same fate and so had them well protected.By 500 AD, the Volturi had usurped control of the vampire world from the Romanian coven. Along with Marcus and Caius, Aro ruled the Volturi, although he generally acted as the spokesperson. The Volturi, under the three ancients' leadership, set down the laws of the vampire world and punished those who did not follow them, as it posed the threat of exposure to humans. His greatest assets being the discovery of Jane and Alec, two young children gifted with enormous abilities, and waited to change them when they were older (since the law against creating immortal children had already been established). His plan backfired as the villagers deemed them as witches and burned them at the stake. Aro got to the village just in time to save the barely-alive twins and changed them into vampires, and also slaughtered the entire village to keep them from spreading the news. Since Jane and Alec joined the coven, the Volturi had been invincible.By the comment Carlisle Cullen made in Breaking Dawn about the necklace which Bella received from Aro, it can be assumed that he is in the habit of collecting items from different eras.
Carlisle Cullen came to live with the Volturi for some time and became close friends with Aro. However, Aro was alarmed at Carlisle's preference of "vegetarianism" and believed that this would only weaken him over time. Carlisle eventually left to find other vampires like himself. Aro became heartened when he saw Carlisle did not weaken over time as he had believed originally and, although he did not share them, Aro respected his friend's ways.
At some point Aro and the other Volturi leaders was visited by Laurent, whom was seeking to join powerful vampires and chose to join the Volturi. However, Aro turned Laurent away after he found out that he had joined with Vladimir and Stefan for a short while. He declared him untrustworthy and Laurent left.

At one point, Edward Cullen, one of Carlisle's adopted children, comes to the Volturi. Edward was deeply depressed because he was led to believe his love, Bella Swan, had committed suicide, and as such was himself suicidal. Aro is interested in Edward๏ฟฝs ability to read minds from a distance, and tries to persuade him to join the Volturi instead, saying it would be a waste to destroy such a special gift. He later meets Bella, after she and Edward's sister Alice prevent Edward's suicide attempt. He is both surprised and intrigued by Bella's immunity to Edward's power, and even more intrigued when she succeeds in blocking his and Jane's powers as well. He allows Edward to take Bella back to Forks after Alice shows him in a vision that Bella will eventually be transformed into a vampire, which fascinates him.
Aro
Aro's craving to experience Alice's visions.
When Bella's life hangs on a thin line due to Caius's determination to destroy her, Alice allows Aro to touch her, allowing him to see the vision of the future she has had of Bella as a vampire by accessing Alice's mind. It is described by Edward that Aro searched through not only the vision of Bella, but much more, delving deeply into Alice's mind so he ends up "knowing her better than she knows herself." He is described as seeming "enthralled" and "delighted" by her talent, and Edward mentions in Breaking Dawn that there is nothing Aro wants more than Alice's power.
He also makes an attempt to invite all three of them to the coven, but they all decline. Disappointed as he is, Aro, patient as ever, is hopeful that the day will for where they will be claimed. When an army of newborns begin to run a killing spree in Seattle, Aro sends Jane, Felix, Demetri, and two unknown vampires to 'deal with the newborns'. In fact, Edward notes that by delaying his company, it was speculated that Aro may have wanted to let the newborns decrease the Cullens' numbers, however this is more likely Caius as Aro deeply values his friendship with Carlisle Cullen and since he values Alice and Edward's powers so highly it stands to reason that Aro would never have risked them in such a fashion.
In the movie, Felix wanted to consult with Aro about the situation in Seattle, but Jane reminds him that they have to decide on their own, because Aro's decisions are being 'watched'.Some time after Bella and Edward's wedding, Bella receives a necklace from Aro. Alice had mailed the Volturi an announcement for Bella and Edward's wedding to keep them from sending a hunting party for her. Though mystified as to whether or not Bella is changed, Aro in return sends Bella the necklace as a wedding gift. It is described as being ostentatious with a very large jewel, and is said to have been part of the English crown jewels.Still some time later, Irina, a vampire from the Denali coven, comes to Volterra to inform the Volturi that the Cullens had created an immortal child. In response to this breach of their laws, the Volturi gathered the entire guard together (including the wives) and set out for Forks to destroy the Cullens. Aro, meanwhile, intends to use the situation to try and force Edward, Bella and Alice into joining the Volturi.
When the Volturi arrive, they are shocked to discover what they believe to be a vampire army that the Cullens have assembled to oppose them, furthering Aro's belief they'd created an immortal child. Carlisle, however, is able to talk to Aro and offer his hand, saying that it was never his intent. Aro, to his credit, is willing to listen and is relieved to discover that Carlisle's 'army' are in fact witnesses. Bella also describes Aro "scanning the crowd" as though searching for a certain face - most likely Alice's - and Bella feels suddenly glad Alice isn't with them after all. The Volturi notice the line of werewolves behind Carlisle's witnesses. In his usual fashion, Aro acts as speaker for the Volturi. After reading Edward's mind and learning about Renesmee, the so-called immortal child, Aro is both astounded and delighted to discover that she is actually half human. He is also amused at the idea of having the werewolves, whom he believed were the Cullens' pets, as guard dogs. Unfortunately, the angry snarls from the wolves inform him that it would never happen.Incensed at their defiance of the Volturi, Caius declares that Renesmee has to be killed, while Marcus is content to allow the child to live. Aro also uses the advance of human technology and the threat Renesmee may pose to vampires as an excuse to initiate the struggle. However, when he witnesses the potency of Bella's mental shield, which renders the Volturi's powers useless, Aro realizes they are at a huge disadvantage and has to do some fast and serious smooth talking to prevent the situation form turning for the worse. Alice and Jasper show up with another vampire half-breed named Nahuel just in time to prevent the battle from commencing. The knowledge that there are other half-breeds in the world heartens Aro and he is relieved to use the newfound information to get out of the fight. The Volturi leave with their confidence somewhat shaken. Aro desperately wants Edward, Alice, and Bella to join the Volturi, but in the end, he is genuinely saddened to lose Carlisle's friendship and hopes to regain it, and he's relieved that is all he lost; Aro is fully aware that the outcome could have been a great deal worse. In Breaking Dawn - Part 2, while witnessing the effect of Bella's power, Aro is still adamant on turning the situation violent until Alice claims to have evidence to persuade him. He then experiences Alice's vision of the battle's outcome, where he kills Carlisle to initiate the battle and then witnesses the demise of most of his coven. Angered by his losses, he joins the fight, his targets being Bella and Edward. With combined forces, they manage to behead him and set his remains ablaze. After witnessing his own death, Aro uses Nahuel's presence as an excuse to leave peacefully.
Though his coven have left the Cullens in peace, Edward knows the Volturi (especially Caius) see them as a threat and expects them to someday attempt to take them out in the name of revenge.
Falling, she basically eats it. How embarrassing. Keeping the tough guy outlook up was not so charming now with her clumsiness. The little human girl winced in slight pain, the rocks beneath her stabbed her in her tummy, probably leaving light bruises while the rest scattered. Rustle of leaves came from the bushes as she felt herself being lifted, and standing there now would be her little twin brother, Alexander. Jehanne would shiver in the slightest, tears streaming while she bit her bottom lip to hold in her cry. She dared not want to show weakness to others, especially her sibling and the stranger.๏ฟฝ
"Th-Thanks..."
She stuttered as she grabbed a part of her dress and lifted it to where it would be a basket for their rocks once more. Alex would help her, grabbing the rocks and puts it in while she did the same. Having them picked up, alongside grabbing the ones Aro handed to them, the two looked at him with slight confusion. For a stranger, he seemed overly friendly, one to simply help out even in the darkness of where they were located. They were about to step forth and speak, until finally hearing another call from a female. It made the children jump, quick glances shot to one another and then off to the pale one. With a rushed bow, Jane would be found hopping, despite the pain she still had from falling. "S-Sorry Mister! We got to go, lets go Alex!" and with that, little Jane has carefully ran off into the bushes as Alec would give a light bow and follow after his twin.
"You're not going to hurt us?" Rose echoed dubiously, pointedly looking at Dimitri. "Then what the hell did you do to him?!" She snarled, her body leaning as far forward as she dared with her vampire guard standing beside her.
Who did they think they were kidding? If her husband's current state and their not so warm welcome didn't prove otherwise, what they were did. They were Strigoi. Hurting, killing๏ฟฝ it's who they were and what they did. They didn't have souls. Humans, Dhampirs, Moroi๏ฟฝ they were nothing but food. These Volturi were definitely no exception. Strigoi were terrifying as it was, but with power like this? Who knew what horrors that these three men had inflicted upon the world? Horrors that were going to be inflicted on her and Dimitri if they didn't think of something fast. Out of the corner of her eye, she looked him over again briefly. She didn't want to take her eyes off of the enemy, but she couldn't help it. The color was slowly returning to his cheeks, but he was still hunched over, eyes closed. The little blonde had really done a number on him this time. Rage pounded through every cell in her body. The sound of his screams back in the hotel echoed in her ears, squeezing her heart so painfully she feared it might burst. His pain was hers.
Rose's hand snuck out, sliding across the marble floor and over Dimitri's, squeezing his fingers. He opened his eyes, his gaze locking on her. ๏ฟฝA million silent messages passed between them in that one glance. Words weren't needed between them. They never had been. The look of hopelessness in his eyes disappeared and was replaced by a steely determination, one that radiated down her spine and filled her body with the same feeling. Together, they were a force to be reckoned with. Together, they would get out of here and if not, they would take as many Strigoi down with them as they could. Dimitri straightened up onto his knees and rolled his shoulders. He turned his hand and laced their fingers, squeezing hers this time in reassurance. The leader of the creepy trio continued on as if this was a chance meeting at a dinner party, exchanging pleasantries and introducing his brothers. She regarded them both, her well-practiced eyes seeking out which was the larger threat. Caius looked menacing, ready to shed blood, but the one that he'd called Marcus simply looked bored. There was something about the former that set her on edge. Caius. Caius was the one that they needed to keep an eye on.
Rose couldn't contain her snort of disbelief or the rolling of her eyes as Aro prattled on about how they 'just wanted to talk to them and had no choice but to use force.' He could choke on his apologies and she was fairly certain that her hostile expression said as much. Her gaze swept over each of the brothers again when the leader, Aro, finally fell silent.
"Well," she started, exhaling through her nose. "I'm Rose Belikov. I'd say 'it's nice to meet you,' but I'd obviously be lying. My husband and I aren't exactly in a chatty mood and we'd like to go."
"Rose๏ฟฝ" Dimitri's warning tone didn't deter her. If the little Barbie vampire wanted to hurt her again, she'd like to see her try. She wouldn't be caught off guard this time.
"Now," she continued, interrupting before her husband could object any further. "If you're not going to hurt us, then let us go." There was a challenge in her eyes, daring him to refuse her after giving them their word that they wouldn't be harmed further here.
Rose wasn't an idiot. She knew that it wouldn't be as simple as that. He didn't go through all of the trouble to get them here just to let them go this easily. He wanted something, something that he wasn't going to stop until he got. If he didn't get it from them, he would seek out another Dhampir or worse, a Moroi to get his answers from. This monster was going to make them talk, by any means necessary. Too bad for him both of them would die before they betrayed their queen's secrets, or told them anything that would put even a single Moroi life in danger. A small part of her was curious. If they could find out what he wanted and escaped, they could prevent him getting the information from anybody else. Either way, they would have guardians swarming Volterra the second their feet touched American soil. Surely if Aro knew anything about their kind, he would know that. Even if they betrayed everything they believed in in the hopes of surviving this and told him everything he wanted to know, he would probably kill them anyway.
Ooc-; HERE IT ISSS FINALLY. I'm so sorry about the wait. I'll be getting to your other reply as soon as I can.
Pain. It was the first thing that Rose Belikov registered as she floated back to consciousness. Her eyelids fluttered as it pounded through her skull, blurring her vision. Bits and pieces of what had happened within the past few hours slowly came back to her in flashes. Dimitri had surprised her with a brief honeymoon trip to Italy; somewhere neither had ever been but wanted to visit. It was as beautiful as she'd imagined, not that she'd seen much of it. It'd been three days of bliss, three days that she was still a little convinced she'd dreamt. Especially now. They'd come in the middle of the night, the red-eyed monsters that they'd dedicated their lives to slaying. These ones were different. They had๏ฟฝ powers. The kind that Rose had never seen even a Moroi be in possession of. Strigoi weren't supposed to be able to touch magic. They gave up that ability when they lost their souls. What were these monsters? Why were they different? Rose had surrendered after putting up quite the fight, furiously, when the little blonde one hurt Dimitri with just a glance. She would never forget the sound of his screams, a sound that she had only heard him make once, a long time ago, and the way his long and muscled body writhed on the floor in agony. She'd had no choice. She had to make her stop hurting him. She didn't know what they wanted or why they brought them here, but she was going to kill that smiling little bitch. If they tried to kill her, she would make sure that little doll vampire went down with her.
Rose was lying in a patch of moonlight on a cold stone floor. Clutching the side of her head, she staggered to her feet and moaned. Her entire body ached. She hadn't exactly come quietly even after her surrender. It didn't take long for her eyes to adjust to the dark, a perk that came with being half Moroi. She was in a cell, a small, round room with a window high above her head and a wooden door. There was a window in that too, but it was barred. Her hand flew to her pocket, but of course her stake had been confiscated. Slowly, she inched toward the door and stood on her tiptoes to peer into the hallway. Where had they taken her husband? Why wasn't he with her? Fear clutched at her heart. She couldn't lose him. Not again. They were only just beginning their lives together. It was true, they both entered marriage knowing the risks. They were guardians, sworn to give their lives for the Moroi they'd been promised to protect, but she never expected for them to be taken out on their honeymoon. If they had to die young, it was supposed to be in the act of duty, protecting Lissa and Christian. Not like this. Not like this.
"Dimitri?" She hissed, her ears straining for any sign of him. His breath. His footsteps. A grunt. Something, anything to give away his whereabouts, but there was nothing. "Dimitri?" She tried again, desperately, but again, there was no answer. Only a cold, eerie silence.
Dimitri could be dead. Or worse. They could have reawakened him. The memory of his cold, soulless eyes sent a shudder down her spine. It had been years ago now, but those were memories that would never fade. Lissa was on another continent. If he was๏ฟฝ gone, there would be no bringing him back this time. She would have to kill him, to free his soul and save the countless lives that he could take, her own included. She finally got him, and now she would have to kill him. She had to find him๏ฟฝ and he had to still be human. If she lost him again, there would be no coming back for her either this time. Sucking in a breath, she shoved the thought to a back corner of her mind. She couldn't let herself go there, not now. Now, she had to figure out what was going on here and get herself out of this cell. The biggest question was, what did these Strigoi want with them? Her mind could only think of one thing. Lissa. Rose and Dimitri were close to the queen of the Moroi. They were among her confidants, her trusted companions. They wanted to use them to get to Lissa. That was the only thing that made sense. Maybe they would be tortured for information๏ฟฝ or awakened, so that they could lead a mission to kill her themselves. She would die before she let them touch her๏ฟฝ and she probably would.
Rage and panic building in her chest, she started to pace around the edge of her cell like a caged wildcat, her dark hair matted at the back of her neck with sweat. She didn't know how she was going to get out of this one. She didn't know where she was or where the exits were. She didn't know where to begin to look for Dimitri. She didn't even know how big this place was. It looked๏ฟฝ medieval, like the academy. The wooden door, the stone floor and walls๏ฟฝ were they in some ancient Italian castle? The sounds coming from outside alerted her to the fact that they were in a city and not in the middle of nowhere, that was a plus. Cities were easier to hide in than wide open country side. After she got out of this cell, the first thing she needed to do was find a weapon. Her or Dimitri's stake, preferably. Then she would have to begin a desperate search for her husband and kill anyone that stood in her way. Hopefully, the little blonde would come first.
The soft sound of footsteps, so soft the average human ear couldn't have picked it up, drew her attention back to the door and scattered her thoughts. Now was her chance. There was no room for failure. Her body coiled, ready to attack the intruder. The moment that the door opened, she lunged at the pale, robed figure. Fist connected with jaw. He stumbled back in surprise that was written clearly on his face. He clearly wasn't used to their prisoners fighting back. Well, he'd never met Rose Ha๏ฟฝBelikov. The deadly dance was a short one, as a part of her knew it would be. She was unarmed. She had no way to even incapacitate him. All that she could to was fight until she couldn't anymore or hopefully find an opportunity to run, or better yet, a weapon. Unfortunately, she didn't get that far. Rose had got in quite a few good hits by the time the blonde rounded the corner, the creepy murderous smile she'd already come to associate her with curving her lips.
"Pain," the vampire said in a sing-song voice, her eyes locked on Rose๏ฟฝ and then it came.
Unimaginable agony radiated throughout her entire body. Her legs caved in and her body flung itself onto her back. She didn't realize that the shrieking was coming from her until the agony faded abruptly and the sound stopped. Chest heaving, she glared up at her. Oh, it's on bitch. She moved to leap to her feet, but she spoke again. It wasn't that fact that halted her movements; it was what she said that did.
"If you wish to see your husband alive, I suggest you cease your futile attempt to fight me. He was waiting for you. Aro is waiting for you. Come willingly and you'll live a little longer."
Stunned, Rose could only stare up at her. Aro Volturi? That was a name that had been whispered around campfires at the academy, a horror story that wasn't supposed to be true. Apparently, it was. All sorts of things that Rose didn't know truly existed in their world had slowly started coming out of the woodwork over the past few years. The Volturi was something that she had hoped would stay a story, but of course, life couldn't be that easy. They'd been captured by the Volturi. That realization was crippling. They wouldn't get out of here alive. They would never make it home. They would never live. Shoulders slumped in defeat, Rose dragged herself to her feet, glaring at the tall male Strigoi that had come to retrieve her when he stepped forward. He gripped her forearm and started dragging her down the hallway, toward her doom.
Once they exited the prison, things got๏ฟฝ frighteningly normal. It reminded her of Galina's mansion. She'd always imagined Strigoi living in dark, gloomy places. It was strange to see them living like humans in a massive mansion, surrounded by comforts that most humans would kill for, but that they didn't necessarily need. This was even stranger. They didn't just live well, they lived like royalty. They even had a human receptionist๏ฟฝ and a throne room. Rose squinted a little as she entered the suddenly bright, enormous room. Three thrones were raised in the back of the room. Before them, her husband was on his knees, a Strigoi standing guard on either side of him.
"Dimitri!" She launched herself forward, only to be seized and jerked backward by her companions. Dimitri's shoulders stiffened in recognition of his name and her voice, but he didn't otherwise respond. She watched him anxiously until she was forced to her knees beside him. Eagerly, she took the sight of him in. He was alive. As pale as a sheet, but alive. His hair hung over his face, soaked with sweat. His chest rattled and heaved with every breath. The blonde had gotten to him again. Rose shot her a menacing glare. Oh, what she wouldn't do for a chance to plunge her stake into her heart. She wanted to reach for him, but a Strigoi stood between them. "Hey comrade," she said breathlessly, cracking a weak smile. "How's married life treating you?" She thought she saw the hint of a smile as he glanced at her out of the corner of her eye, but he said nothing. "And who the hell are you?!" She asked sharply, lifting her gaze for the first time to meet the eyes of the Volturi that stood in the center, the one that she assumed was Aro, the leader. "The Princes of Darkness?"๏ฟฝ
Little Jane watched the male curiously, though her expression showed otherwise. An expression of uncertainty. After introducing to one another, she stared up at him for the longest as the silence built up. 'He is weird...' she simply thought, eventually hearing her name being called out from behind this male. She shifted her position carefully to where no other rocks fell, in the slight distance she could see her twin brother roaming in the darkness, trying to look for her. She remained silent forever more longer, eventually lightly shrugging her shoulders.๏ฟฝ
"I-I think I should be going now... so if you do not mind me, I'll just be-"
She states, shifting herself in mostly to round him in a circular notion to get to the side where her brother was located. Her words were cut off simply, her eyes widening at her small little mistake she simply made. With the wrong step, she found herself eating the dirt with misplacing her foot between some branches that stuck out from the ground.
She whispered to herself of the various things she needed to fulfill in order to get their little plan to commence on a few people. It was childish, but hey, life seemed interesting this way. She trot on forth as she went to collect the very rocks that she seemed to approve while traveling a tad further away from home until finding the carving marks that Alec and herself have placed as their limit of going any further. She sighed lightly and shifted, only to hear a rather clicking nose when one of the rocks fell from her pile she carried. She stopped for a moment to look around, but everything was rather too dark besides that faint shine of the moon that shined through the trees some. She frowned and huffed in irritation, walking on until the very sudden voice that made her jump slightly out of her wits.
Little ol Jane would look directly where the very voice emitted from, finding the pale looking figure before her. She stared with her silver blue hues for a long moment before taking a small step back carefully, for through the parts they were in, the path wasn't all that clear if she were to make a run for it. With the tone of the persons voice, she indicated it was a mere male, but what made her wonder was if he had followed her out like this or better yet, another whom sought her out for questioning like many others has already. It was bad enough school and choir wasn't all that fun like she thought it would be, but being possibly kidnapped would be a whole different story. It would be a rather interesting one to tell papa and mama if they were to ask of her whereabouts. Seeing the very hand that stood out, finding the rock that had fell, a small nervous smile formed upon her expression, although she approached with caution. She inched a tad closer and took the rock with her free hand, slightly feeling of the coldness of his hand and the ridged structure of the rock. She withdrew as soon as she had a good grip on the rock, hopping back like some cat and now watched silently before speaking.
"Th-Thank you mister... a-are you a looney?"
Little Jane questioned honestly with her cold tone of hers. Something her mother always seemed to worry of little Jane. Despite her having her little girly charm, she seemed to express more of a male attitude than a proper lady. In other words, she was more of a tomboy than a girly. She might of looked otherwise, considering her mother always tend to get on her about wearing Alexander's attire instead of her own that was usually hand made or given. But with that tone of hers, it could always mean she was challenging or pushing another. A rather daring little sphinx she was during the time of being a human.๏ฟฝ
