About me: Background
Raised in a Dalish clan, Davrin craved excitement and adventure. With the goal of making history rather than just reflecting on it, he joined the Grey Wardens and made a name for himself as a monster hunter. Now he cares for Assan, a young griffon.[1]
Involvement
Dragon Age: Vows & Vengeance
Davrin and fellow Grey Warden Goff are patrolling an outpost to investigate the cause of earthquakes and storms occuring in the southern Anderfels. Davrin however, would rather investigate the rumors of the re-emergence of griffons. The two Grey Wardens encounter a man named Harig holding a woman named Ollie captive.
Although Goff demands the woman be released, Harig says that Ollie is guilty of aiding the Tevinter fugitive Nadia Carcosa, but neither Davrin nor Goff trust the Tevinter Imperium nor interested in enforcing their justice. Although the Grey Wardens were about to dismiss the case, Harig tells them that Nadia was speaking of the Deep Roads and may be involved with the strange anomalies.
When questioning Ollie on the matter, she reveals that Nadia was inquiring about Ollie's employer, who hired her crew to do a job in the old mines in Ramshackle[2]; Ollie also revealed that the mines are now crawling with darkspawn. A darkspawn infestation compels the Grey Wardens to investigate the mines while Harig insists on accompanying them so he can capture Nadia and collect her bountry.
Davrin and Goff arrive in time to aid Nadia and her companion, Drayden Kiel, in defeating a darkspawn attack. After the battle, Goff questions if Nadia is involved with the anomalies plaguing the Anderfels but Nadia denies it and claims she only seeks to stop the true perpetrator of those crimesโthe one called the Dread Wolf.
The mention of the Dread Wolf causes Davrin to draw his weapons against Nadia, and demands to know how she knows the Dread Wolf. Nadia reiterates that she believes him responsible for the chaos in the Anderfels, which Davrin responds by arresting Nadia and Drayden and taking them to Weisshaupt.
Davrin explains the legend of the Dread Wolf, also known as Fen'Harel, to Goff and believes that his involvement may mean something ominous is occurringโa nefarious plot that the Grey Wardens need to uncover. Goff orders the release of Ollie but Harig keeps demanding his monetary reward for Nadia's capture. Davrin threatens Harig for his rudeness while Goff dictates that he will only get his reward when the Grey Wardens are done with the prisoners at Weisshaupt Fortress.
As they were about to depart, Nadia explained how the Dread Wolf tricked them into performing a dangerous, magical ritual and now her lover Elio is trapped in the Fade. Nadia tells the Grey Wardens that the Inquisition gave her recent information that the Dread Wolf was in those tunnels and Ollie verified that the Dread Wolf was her crew's employer.
Davrin intuitively believes that Nadia speaks the truth so he agrees that they should search the mining tunnels. Goff orders their release, and Davrin complies. Nadia thanks Davrin for trusting her while Drayden flirts with Davrin. Harig threatens to alert the Imperial templars but Nadia tosses him a bag of gold for his silence.
As Harig was about to leave, the group is caught in an earthquake and the ground beneath them starts to deteriorate into a sinkhole. Harig, Ollie, and Goff fall into the sinkhole; Davrin falls in to rescue them and Nadia and Drayden fall in when they could not hang on to sure footing any longer. Ollie, Nadia, Drayden, and Davrin regroup at the bottom of the sinkhole; Davrin and Drayden flirt with each other for a while before Davrin sets off to search for Goff. Davrin finds Goff with his leg pinned underneath a boulder.
With their best option to chop off Goff's leg to free him, the group prepares for the amputation until Nadia is inflicted with a ringing in her mind. The ringing passes but the group is assaulted by spiders. Davrin orders Ollie to guard Goff while he and others fight off the spiders. The group returns to Goff and Ollie to defend them from a giant spider.
Ollie is dragged away by a spider and Goff urges Davrin to remember his duty and leave him. Although Davrin is reluctant to abandon him, Davrin complies and orders Nadia and Drayden to follow him as he fights to secure their way to a retreat.
The trio exits the tunnel by squeezing into a crevice that led to a chamber. Once through the chamber, Davrin causes a cave in to prevent the spiders from pursuing them. Drayden senses that the Veil is thin in the chamber but Davrin thinks she just feels the lyrium coursing through the walls.
The group finds a mosaic of wolves in the chamber and Davrin reads an ancient elven inscription that reads: "Guide me on the path that splits the land between sun and moon." Drayden doesn't believe it is an ordinary mosaic but can come to a conclusion that the top and bottom halfs are mirror reflections of each other and that they depict figures pointing to the stars.
Davrin also notices the mosaic depicts wolf totems that are similar to the ones the Dalish places in their camps at Arlathan Forest, which symbolizes the Dread Wolf. Drayden figures out the puzzle of the mosaic which opens up an energy fissure.
The floor begins to sink and Davrin realizes that the chamber is forcing the group to choose to either enter the portal or follow the tunnel that leads to the surface. Nadia and Drayden choose to enter the portal but Davrin chooses to travel through the tunnel as he has to fulfill his duty to the Grey Wardens. Davrin wishes that Andruil guide their paths in their adventures and tells Drayden he hopes they cross paths again in the future.
