powers & abilities

I'll never be like all of you!
I'll never hurt the people I love...
Magic of True Love and Light Magic: As the result of True Love birth, Emma is capable of using magic. This magic was always with her, even though she was living in a world without magic. However when Mr. Gold brought magic to our world her magical powers were greatly enhanced, particularly within the confines of Storybrooke; she has recently been taking magical lessons from her former nemesis Regina to better harness her powers, proving to be an apt student. Her practice of the magical arts grants various mystical abilities.
True Love's Kiss: A magical kiss that can break any curse as long its fueled by True Love. True Love is not limited to romantic relationship but can also extend to the love of a mother for her son.
Immunity to Heart Removal: In the universe of Once Upon a Time, witches and wizards are capable to use black magic to penetrate a person's chest and literally remove their hearts. While in possession of these hearts the witch is capable of controlling the person, which remains in a state of full health despite the removal of such a vital organ. Emma is however immune to this form of black magic and if a witch attempts to remove her heart, they will be hit by an energy blast.
Lie Detection: The power to detect if a person is lying. Emma used this power subconsciously on Earth, possibly due to the lack of magic.
Eclipse Inducement: The power to cause an eclipse. When Peter Pan and her son Henry left to Skull Rock to "save magic", the heroes found themselves blocked by Pan's protective shield that only allows people without shadows to enter. Emma and Regina join their magics together to create an eclipse, which would take away their shadows and render the shielding spell useless.
Telekinesis: She is capable of manipulating objects or people without physically touching. This was first seen when she had to telekinetically blast both David and Killian in order to save them from the Snow Queen.
Pyrokinesis: She is able to create, control, and manipulate fire, often in a form of lighting a candle or a flame/fire-related spell.
Healing: When she uses her healing powers, her hand will glow with white and after having approached the wound, it will heal completely, leaving no visible sign. Apportation: Emma demonstrated being able to teleport Hook's, uh, namesake implement away from him as a prank.
Conjuration: Emma is able to summon objects or beings through magic, often materializing in the form of a pure white manifestation. She demonstrated this when she conjured a copy of the door illustration page that the former author was trapped inside, hoping that this would fool Mr. Gold.
Teleportation: Emma has demonstrated to be able to move from one place to another in the form of gray smoke. She demonstrated this in the underworld when she teleported herself. Megara and Regina from the forest to the Blanchard Loft.
Okay. Let me be very clear about something. If I had to choose someone... I'd choose Henry. He's the only love I have room for in my life.

my son

I have to. It's my only choice.
It's what's best for you, Henry.

About me:
Who I'd like to meet:
The Savior. It's a title I've thought about running from numerous times, but I never have, and what she did today reminded me why I don't run. Why I fight. Because I want to protect my family and my friends and the people that I love.

.before the curse.

After drinking a poisoned cup given to her by King George, Snow White becomes infertile. A short time later, Charming's mother is fatally wounded, so they set off to find Lake Nostos to collect it’s healing waters. On their journey, Ruth uses an old pendant to determine the gender of Snow’s first born, but because she’s infertile it doesn’t work. When they arrive at the dried up lake Ruth sacrifices the last bit of water so Snow can be cured, costing her life. Later, Snow uses the pendant to determine her first born child’ gender; it’s a girl. After Regina threatens to cast the Dark Curse at Snow and Charming's wedding, they begin living in fear. However, while on their honeymoon Snow decides that they need to be happy and should start trying for a baby. Upon returning from the honeymoon, Snow and Charming are taken to the Tree of Wisdom by Maleficent, Cruella and Ursula so they can find a way to stop Regina's curse. However, when they ask it a question, it repels them, and the three villains soon catch up and realize that the reason it didn't answer them is because Snow is pregnant and, being a product of true love, their baby has potential for great darkness as well as a great good. Maleficent later revisits Snow in the middle of the night and reveals to her that she's pregnant as well, which is why it's so important to her that this curse be stopped. She wishes to join forces with Snow, but Snow declines, refusing to delve into darkness while trying to protect her child for she believes that there is a better way of doing things.

Snow and Charming race to find a unicorn so that its magic horn will give them a vision of their unborn child's future; Charming sees a future where their baby is safe and happy, but Snow sees a future where their daughter is a villain, and she knows that something must be done to change it. They hear from a peddler who they give some brandy to that Maleficent has taken dragon form in a cave and laid an egg, and he advises them to go into the Infinite Forest and seek out an old hermit who might be able to help them with their problem. The royal couple find the Sorcerer's apprentice, and he explains how everyone is born a blank slate with the potential for both good and darkness; if they want their baby's potential for darkness to be eradicated, they must find another blank slate for that potential to be siphoned off into. As such, they head to Maleficent's cave and steal her egg from her, promising to bring it back once they're done with it. They take the egg to the apprentice and he performs the spell, but this also involves sending the egg to another world. Snow and Charming are appalled, especially once the egg starts to hatch and they see that a baby is inside. Cruella and Ursula try their best to stop the so-called heroes, but they merely end up being sucked into the portal as well, banished to an unknown realm. Snow and Charming are left to deal with the gravity of what they have just caused.

Prince Thomas marries a girl named Cinderella and Snow White - who's in the early stages of pregnancy at the time - and Prince Charming are attendees of the royal wedding. When there, Snow dances with Ella playfully, breaking the formality of the event, and assures her that it truly is a day of celebration. Ella points out that all she did was get married, but Snow assures the new princess that she did more than that: she proved that it's possible for anyone to change their life. As the time comes to switch partners again, Snow tells her friend that she's proud of her whilst they part ways, and Ella is forced to start dancing with the dreaded Rumplestiltskin. Due to the fact that Rumple is the one who granted Ella's wish and made her life as a royal possible, he demands her first born in return, and when Ella falls pregnant, she tells this to her husband. Snow White and Prince Charming are soon alerted and the latter and Grumpy help Ella devise a plan to trap the dark wizard. Ella makes Rumple sign a new contract and the ink in the pen he signs with causes him to become ensnared, meaning that he's able to be captured and thrown into a jail cell at the old mines. However, when Prince Thomas disappears suddenly, Ella believes that Rumple is to blame, and the Dark One continues to promise that he will take her baby.

A heavily pregnant Snow is horrified to see that Cinderella has sent her a unicorn-decorated mobile for the baby, because she sees it as a reminder of what she and Charming did to Maleficent's child. She reveals to her husband that she's been unable to sleep without what they did haunting her dreams, and he reveals in turn that he's been going through the same thing, but points out that maybe Maleficent deserves what happened to her, theorizing that she lied about this Dark Curse for Regina hasn't yet acted upon the threat she made at their wedding. Snow doesn't care, for all that matters to her is what they did; she thought they were doing something brave for their child, and they were brave... but they weren't kind. They were selfish, and they don't deserve to be called heroes anymore. Charming wonders how they're going to fix it, not wanting to raise their child in a guilt-ridden manner, and Snow says that she doesn't want that either, asking her husband if he really believes they have a chance at redemption. He does, but to get there, they have to be the best people they can, and spread hope with them wherever they go, especially if it is to rub off on their child, who is the very person they fought so hard to protect. Snow starts to think maybe the unicorns aren't such a bad thing; maybe they're there to remind them how easy it can be to lose their way. Charming adds that they can make sure to be the best version of themselves; it won't be easy, but they can take the hard path together.

.early life.

Emma Swan's parents, Snow White and Prince Charming, are inhabitants of a world called the Enchanted Forest. On the day they marry, the Evil Queen interrupts the ceremony to announce she will destroy the happiness of everyone in the land. Months later, Snow White is heavily pregnant expecting her first child, but worries about what the Evil Queen promised. She convinces Prince Charming to let her see a man who can see the future called Rumplestiltskin. As payment for his services, Rumplestiltskin asks for their child's name, which Snow White later gives as Emma. Rumplestiltskin prophesies the Evil Queen will cast a dreadful dark curse no one can escape, but if their child is saved, she will come back for them on her twenty-eighth birthday. The Blue Fairy strikes a deal with the wood carver Geppetto to make a magic wardrobe for transportation to another world, but he wants his own son, Pinocchio, to be saved as well. Though the wardrobe can protect two people, the Blue Fairy is forced to lie and say only one can be saved. They prepare to send a pregnant Snow White through the wardrobe, she gives birth to Emma on the day the curse is cast. Geppetto disregards the word of the Blue Fairy and sends Pinocchio into the wardrobe anyway. Left little choice, Emma's parents agree she must go to this other world. Emma safety arrives in the land without magic and is picked up by Pinocchio. He goes into a diner claiming to have found her along the highway. They are placed in a foster home together, but Pinocchio abandons her later on.

Growing up in the foster care system, Emma bounces from family to family. At three years old, she is adopted by one set of foster parents who abandon her when they get their own child. Emma, now eleven years old, lives in a group home in Boston. One day, she and the other children watch as a little girl leaves in a car for a new home after being adopted. Even as the vehicle pulls away, Emma continues to stare longingly as she, too, desires a family.

At seventeen, Emma breaks into a car in Portland, Oregon and meets a man, Neal, who is also attempting to steal the vehicle. Neal sneaks them into a closed amusement park where Emma learns he once had a loving home, but ran away once his father changed too much. They begin dating and pull small robbing heists. While donning a fake pregnancy belly, Emma steals items from a convenience store as Neal distracts the store owner. When they are caught by a customer, Emma feigns labor pains. As they hastily leave, Neal steals a swan key chain for her. The duo drive away and go to a hotel where Neal allows her to make a decision on the place they are going to spend their lives together. Emma picks Tallahassee. Later, Neal admits to being wanted for stealing watches and plans on escaping to Canada alone. Though Neal is against her tagging along, she takes back the stolen watches as he goes to look for someone to buy them so they can use the money for travel. While she waits for him at a meeting spot, the police arrest her for possession of stolen goods. To Emma's heartbreak, she is told Neal tipped them off. She is sent to a minimum security prison in Phoenix for eleven months. One day, Emma tests positive on a pregnancy test when she receives mail from Phuket, Thailand containing the swan key chain and car keys. Sometime during her pregnancy, she decides to give the baby up in a closed adoption. On the day Emma goes into labor and births a son, she struggles with her desire to keep the child. Though tempted to change her mind, Emma believes she simply isn't fit to be a mother.

A decade later, Emma works as a bail bonds person in Boston. She pursues a fugitive named Ryan on her birthday. After turning him into the authorities, she heads back to her flat and lights a cupcake for her twenty-eighth birthday. As she wishes on the candle not to be alone on her birthday, a boy, Henry, shows up claiming to be the son that she gave up for adoption ten years ago. She panics and retreats into the bathroom, but returns to threaten Henry with a police call, but he promises to give them the excuse that she kidnapped him. She warns about her superpower to detect any lie, which leads Henry to plead for her to come home with him to Storybrooke, Maine. During the car ride home, he explains about the Dark Curse that caused all fairytale characters to be trapped. He claims every single story in his book is true and even she is in it, but Emma is still skeptical. Upon reaching town, Henry refuses to give out his address, so she gets it from the boy's therapist, Archie Hopper. She hears more strange allegations from Henry that Archie is Jiminy Cricket and everyone in town is from the Enchanted Forest. After bringing him home, Henry's adoptive mother, Regina invites her in for apple cider. Emma reassures Regina that she won't be a problem, especially since the father doesn't know Henry exists. Emma makes a passing comment on Henry's claims about fairy tales, though Regina has no knowledge of any of that. As Emma departs from the house, she sees Henry peering at her from his bedroom window. On her drive out of town, she notices he left his book on the car seat, and her . When she looks back up, a stray wolf on the road causes her to swerve the car, hit the town marker and fall unconscious.

She wakes up in a jail cell, and in the next cell to hers is the town drunk, Leroy while a mechanic, Marco, is fixing a sink in the room. The sheriff, Graham, arrives to unlock Leroy's cell and allow him to go. Emma alleges a wolf in the middle of the road distracted her, though he bets she was drunk on Regina's apple cider. Storming into the sheriff's office, Regina reports Henry has run away again. After some snooping, Emma questions Mary Margaret Blanchard, Henry's teacher, because he previously used her credit card to make a payment on a birth mother tracking site. When they are alone, Mary Margaret suggests checking Henry's castle playground where he usually frequents. At the playground, Emma returns Henry's book to him as he laments in disappointment over the lack of change since bringing her back. He requests her to stay in town for a week to prove he's right about the curse. When he claims his life sucks, Emma explains her own sob story of being abandoned many times. Henry insists she wasn't discarded and came through from another world. After dropping him off again, Emma shares with Regina the coincidence of how she and Henry met. Regina, however, wants Emma to have nothing further to do with Henry, who she has no legal right to. Despite that Regina says she loves Henry, Emma is not convinced. She takes Henry's advice and checks into an inn for a week. By chance, she meets the town rent collector, Mr. Gold, there.

.Season one.

Shortly after the purple smoke clears, Emma reunites with Mary Margaret and David after the curse has been broken. She pulls back after the tender moment and states to her allies, including Granny, Ruby, Mother Superior and the seven dwarves, have to find Mr. Gold and ask him what he did to Storybrooke by releasing the purple smoke. As they walk towards the pawn shop, her parents attempt to get Emma to open up to them. Emma is still reeling from finding out who they are and asks for time to adjust. Suddenly, Archie rushes up to inform them that Dr. Whale is leading an angry mob to Regina's house. Prompted by Henry's concern for Regina, they make it in time to stop Dr. Whale. With her parents, they decide to place Regina in a jail cell for protection and then confront Mr. Gold for his misdeeds. Mr. Gold believes that he deserves thanks for bringing Emma to her parents, breaking the curse and saving Henry's life, which she is doubtful he has any credit in. Instead, they learn Mr. Gold released a Wraith upon town to destroy Regina. They temporarily stop the creature, but Regina has a more permanent solution by using a hat to send it away. At town hall, Regina's attempt at opening a vortex fails until Emma grabs her hand and unintentionally activates the hat. Emma pushes Regina out of the way when the Wraith moves to grab her. As the Wraith falls into the vortex, Emma is drawn in, to which Mary Margaret follows through. The two women land in the Enchanted Forest and are found by Aurora and Mulan.

Emma and Mary Margaret are accused of killing Prince Phillip and taken hostage by Aurora and Mulan, who then take them to a survivors' haven. Mary Margaret makes an attempt to escape, but is knocked unconscious. She and Emma are forced into a holding pit. Out of the darkness, Cora greets Emma.

Emma learns Cora is Regina's mother, and is discouraged by Mary Margaret from speaking to her any further. She is more inclined to take chances with Cora since they have no one else to rely on, and reminds Mary Margaret that they need to get back to David and Henry. Cora tries to ask about Henry, but Mary Margaret cuts her off. The two are released to speak with the leader of the survivors, Sir Lancelot, who Mary Margaret is acquainted with. He offers to help them return home, but insists no more portals exist. Mary Margaret knows of one possibly in existence, so the two women travel to the location with Mulan. Near nighttime, they decide to camp out. While Mary Margaret and Mulan go fetch supplies, Emma waits. However, she rushes to the scene of a scuffle as Aurora, who deliberately followed them, attempts to harm Mary Margaret and they are pulled apart by Mulan. Annoyed, Emma fires her gun into the air, attracting an ogre. She nearly killed by it, though Mary Margaret takes care of the ogre by shooting an arrow in its eye. Continuing on, they reach the old castle of Snow White and Prince Charming. Aurora and Mulan wait outside as Emma and Mary Margaret go inside. Emma gets a first glimpse of her would-be nursery had she never left the Enchanted Forest as well as the magic wardrobe that took her to the land without magic. They receive an unexpected appearance by Lancelot, who is revealed to be Cora in disguise. Cora battles them for the wardrobe, but Emma sets it on fire. In the end, Cora is forced to flee. Before they leave, Emma finally expresses anger over being abandoned by her parents, but realizes how much they gave up for her sake. Tearfully, Emma admits she is not used to having someone putting her first while Mary Margaret tells her to get used to it. They embrace and depart shortly after.

.season two.

David and Mary Margaret surprise Emma by driving her to an unknown location and refusing to say anything until she sees the place for herself. They enter past an outside barrier to unveil rows of bean fields. Anton spots Emma and rushes off to greet her with a warm embrace. After a small amount of chit chat with Anton, Leroy marches over to pull him back to work. Emma is flabbergasted they secretly began growing magic beans during the time she was still in the Enchanted Forest, and instinctively picks up that her parents truly want to go back to their land. Even Mary Margaret now approves of the idea and by going back to the Enchanted Forest she could have a chance to heal her own heart from Cora's death. Though Emma thinks of this world as her and Henry's home, her parents see the Enchanted Forest as theirs. They believe in their world, Emma just might have her happy ending. To mull over the idea, she goes to the docks and browses Henry's storybook. Regina approaches to speak to her about the revelation that Mr. Gold is Henry's grandfather. Emma says she was eventually going to tell her, but suggests that Regina should focus more on being Henry's mother before he is gone for good. Judging from her tone, Regina suspects Emma is hiding something and vows to find out. Following a day of playing, a sleeping Henry is carried back to the apartment by Neal and they put him to bed. Out the blue, Emma asks Neal would he go back to the Enchanted Forest if there was a way. Neal is put off by the thought as he spent his whole life running from that place. They move to the table and Neal delves into the topic of August—who is now Pinocchio—and how he and Henry played together at the park. At the mention of August, Emma voices her nagging concern about who is the person he had been trying to warn them about.

Emma enters the diner and sees Tamara at the counter grabbing some bagged food. She purposefully bumps into Tamara and sends the items in her hands crashing to the floor, which causes both of them to apologize to each other. Emma picks up some of the dropped items, one of which, is a list detailing Storybrooke residents and their fairytale counterparts. Tamara says nothing and takes the paper back. Emma asks how she is handling the adjustment to town and Neal's secret about being from the Enchanted Forest, to which Tamara responds in a positive light. Even so, Emma expresses concerns about what would happen if outsiders found out about Storybrooke and its inhabitants. Tamara is unruffled, and tries to sooth Emma's worries by saying she can trust her. The conversation leaves Emma more apprehensive than ever. Unable to keep it to herself, Emma spills her theorized idea to Mary Margaret that Tamara is the "her" August was talking about and even brings up the list she had. Mary Margaret doesn't take her claims seriously and guesses she is still not over Neal, which Emma denies. Mary Margaret counsels that this theory of hers should not be known by Henry because even if Emma no longer has feelings for Neal, it will drive a wedge between him and Tamara. Additionally, it will give Henry the false impression that his parents have a chance of getting back together. Surprisingly, Henry was eavesdropping and excitedly thinks he and Emma are "back in business". Outside the bed and breakfast, Emma and Henry have a stakeout inside the yellow bug car. Henry names their new partnership "Operation Praying Mantis". Henry had hopes of being in the Enchanted Forest, but a new operation in Storybrooke is fun too. Emma cautiously asks would he want to go to the Enchanted Forest if there was a way. She refuses to say anything when he asks further. Decidedly, he envisions himself, Emma and Neal having a castle, which she thinks is silly. Just then, Henry shouts to duck as Neal and Tamara are leaving their room under an umbrella. Once they are gone, Emma pick locks their guest room while Henry keeps watch. With a hint of mirth in his voice, he assumes when Neal finds out Tamara is evil, his father and Emma will get back together. Once again, Emma is exasperated that the impression is she's jealous of Neal's fiancee, and maintains she doesn't trust Tamara for other reasons. Henry still thinks Neal and Emma have a shot together when Tamara is out of the picture. Before she goes into the room, she instructs Henry to keep on guard, and to let her know when someone is coming by kicking the door. Inside, Emma begins unearthing a creaky floorboard that is interrupted by Henry kicking the door. Seconds later, Neal bursts in demanding an explanation. She fesses up about having a theory that Tamara is the "her" August mentioned. When she points at the list Tamara had as evidence, Neal admits that he gave it to her so she could adjust to the town easier. He allows her to look under the floorboard, to which Emma finds nothing incriminating. Neal thinks she is having a hard time getting used to Tamara, but she cuts him off and leaves with Henry. At home, they nurse the temporary setback by snacking on ice cream. Henry believes what she believes, to which Emma agrees that her instincts are correct.

.Season three.

As they sail towards the island of Neverland, Emma blankly stares out to sea when she is approached by her parents. Mary Margaret offers consolation by saying what happened to Henry and Neal was not Emma's fault. Bitterly, Emma blames her parents for their "good always wins" ideology. She rejects the wisdom Mary Margaret wants to share with her and regrets breaking the curse instead of just taking Henry out of town. Emma snaps at them for their unwavering optimism when literally everything has been going wrong since the curse broke. Despite Mary Margaret's promise that they will find Henry, Mr. Gold interrupts to announce his intent of getting him back on his own. He proceeds to list off reasons why she will fail in this mission; not believing in her parents, in magic, or even herself. Mr. Gold points out her past encounters with magic was only because it was shown to her. Despite all that Emma has been through, he sees she is still just a bails bonds person looking for proof of evidence, which not a tactic that is going to work in Neverland. Despite that Emma is willing to do whatever it takes, Mr. Gold deducts that she always needs someone to tell her how to. With a spin of his cane, Mr. Gold disappears from the ship. Beaten down from his criticism, Emma begins doing pull-ups below deck when Hook intercedes to give her an old sword that used to belong to Neal when he was a boy. Then, they have a toast in Neal's honor. Suddenly, mermaids begin slamming against the ship. David works to hit the creatures with ammunition while Emma and Mary Margaret catch one on a fishing line. Regina scares off most of them with fire power and then teleports the fishing line onto the deck. As they discuss what to do with the sea creature, the mermaid sounds a conch shell and threatens them all with death if they don't free her. Thunder begins brewing in the sky; giving the impression that the mermaid called the storms to arms. Regina decides to freeze the mermaid, which only speeds up the storm. Mary Margaret and Regina's trade of insults turns into a full on brawl as David and Hook engage in a fist fight. Emma quickly realizes the reason for the storm is due to everyone's animosity towards each other. Her attempt at getting their attention falls on deaf ears, so she purposely jumps overboard as a rigging rope pulley snaps and hits her on the head. David ties a rope around his waist and dives in to save Emma while the other three work together to pull the both of them up, causing the storm to halt. Later, they reach the shoreline of Neverland. Before they go any further, Emma gives everyone a pep talk. She admits the best thing is to not believe in magic, but in each other. Emma doesn't expect friendship, but cooperation is necessary to save Henry as well as the handiness of each person's skill. She walks off into the wilderness as everyone else eventually follows.

.season four.

Emma follows Regina out of Granny's Diner, who has fled after learning her boyfriend's supposedly dead wife, Marian, is alive. Emma explains she never intended to cause harm to Regina, but does not regret saving Marian. Regina believes this to be the end of her relationship with Robin Hood, but Emma disagrees. Robin and Marian exit the diner, the former promising his wife that Regina has changed. Marian calls the Queen a monster, not believing her to be innocent. Regina promptly takes off, but Emma is persuaded by Hook not to go after her. The following morning, Emma tries to contact Regina, but she doesn't answer, so Henry tries to get in touch with her instead. She also sends Hook to look for Regina at the vault. Emma, Mary Margaret, David, and Henry take a family stroll with the baby when the subject of Hook is brought up; in private, Mary Margaret wonders if Emma plans on telling Henry about she and the pirate being involved, but Emma doesn't think so because she isn't yet sure of the terms of their relationship, or if there even is one. Hook soon arrives, giving he and Emma a chance to talk, but they are interrupted when Leroy comes running and yelling about some new crisis involving ice magic. Emma and Hook follow a trail of ice tracks to a warehouse. Inside, an ice monster forms and chases after them. The couple meet up with David, Robin Hood, Marian, and Little John in the forest. Little John fires an arrow at the beast, angering it, to which Emma uses magic to aim an energy ball. This only angers the monster, who knocks Emma away and blows everyone off their feet. Regina saves the day, however, stopping the beast from killing Marian by melting it with a fireball. Before anyone can talk to her, the Queen poofs away. Emma and Hook share a moment, the former offering the pirate a kiss. She asks him to be patient while she sorts things out with Regina. Later, Emma comforts a silent Regina from outside the mayoral office, promising to help her find a happy ending.

Elsa, the Ice Queen, decides that no one is leaving town until she finds her sister, Anna, and so she erects an ice wall around the perimeter of Storybrooke to prevent anyone from escaping, cutting off the electricity by accident as she does so. Emma is at Granny's Diner comforting Henry about Regina when this occurs, and she and David decide to drive out to the power cables at the town line to see what's going on, which is where they discover the ice wall and also Hook, who's eager to help. Elsa is there, and Emma tries approaching her, but David and Hook accidentally startle the young monarch and she unintentionally traps she and the savior in a cave of ice. Emma tries to get her to melt it but soon discovers that Elsa doesn't know how, and can only really control her powers when her sister is around, and so they need to find her. Inside the cave, the two women bond over such things as having uncontrollable magic bestowed upon them, but all the while Emma is slowly freezing to death. After a trip around town in an attempt to sort this predicament out, David realizes that he knew Anna and he uses one of her phrases to goad Elsa into being able to melt a hole in the wall, through which she and Emma escape. Back at the apartment - with Mary Margaret having restored the town's power - they use the magical crook that David stole from Bo Peep to discover that Anna is definitely alive, much to everyone's relief. Emma then takes Elsa to the ice wall so she can melt it, however, Elsa is unable to, meaning that someone else with the same powers as she must be keeping it up.

Emma questions Mr. Gold about Elsa being in the urn in his vault, but he assures her that he had no idea there was a person inside and gets Belle to use his dagger to prove that he's telling the truth. Meanwhile, at Mary Margaret's first fireside chat as Mayor, Marian collapses due to an icy curse and the townspeople are quick to blame Elsa, despite Emma's insistence that the Ice Queen is innocent. She and David then investigate this matter and come across Will Scarlet scrounging through Robin Hood's tent in the woods; assuring them that he's a former Merry Man, Will explains to the two sheriffs that he was out stealing on the night of the blackout and found that the ice cream over at the local ice cream parlor was frozen solid despite the fact that none of the freezers were working. The three of them thus head over to Any Given Sundae and realize that it's being run by ice magic, meaning the proprietor is the true culprit behind Marian's curse. Will escapes when the Charmings' backs are turned, and Emma has a small breakdown about not being a good savior lately before she and her comforting father find Hook and Elsa at the peril of the Snow Queen in the woods. Emma manages to fend her off with her magic, saving the day in the process, but becomes uneasy over the fact that the Snow Queen seemed to recognize her. Afterwards, she berates Hook for not staying in the Sheriff's Station like she asked, going on to explain that she feels the need to keep him out of danger because all of her previous lovers are dead. Hook assures her that he's good at surviving and the two of them share a passionate kiss in the street.

.season five.

Rising from the Vault of the Dark One, Emma has been sent back to the Enchanted Forest and away from those she loves. The darkness now inside of her manifests into a hallucination of Rumplestiltskin, there to help guide her down, the path of evil. She is determined to find Merlin, and so she is lead, via her new powers, to a will-o-wisp, which can be used, once captured, to locate the Sorcerer. This results in a run in with a princess by the name of Merida, who is after the wisp for her own purposes; though a fight comes close to breaking out, Emma agrees to go with Merida so she may use the wisp first, and then the princess will hand it over to the Dark One. That evening, however, having set up camp, and believing Merida to be fast asleep, Emma converses with the Rumple manifestation, who reveals that once Merida uses the wisp, it'll be impossible to give it to Emma, and so he suggests Emma just kill her. Speaking aloud, Emma refuses to do this, but what she doesn't realize is Merida is awake, and overheard the entire conversation, which to her, appears to just be Emma talking to no one. Merida runs off in the morning, but Emma, using her newfound powers, finds her. Being influenced by the darkness, she nearly crushes the princess's heart, but Hook and the other heroes arrive in time to talk her out of it. They convince her to release Merida, and promise they can help with saving her from the darkness. Mary Margaret hands the dagger over, believing Emma should have control, but she then gives it to Regina, stating that if they fail, then for Regina to use it and destroy her. Once reuniting with the others who made it to the Enchanted Forest, via Granny's Diner, the group is met by King Arthur and his men, who welcome them all into Camelot, for their arrival had been prophesied long ago.

Upon entering Camelot, Emma and the others are introduced to Arthur's wife, Queen Guinevere, and a ball is announced to be held in everyone's honor. The King proceeds to show everyone a tree in the courtyard, revealing that it's where Merlin is imprisoned, and he soon questions who the prophesied Savior is meant to be. Though Emma goes to speak up, Regina steals the spotlight, claiming it to be her, not wanting to blow Emma's cover. This upsets Emma later on while she and Regina are up in Merlin's tower; Regina promises to free the new Dark One of the darkness, to which Emma thanks her. While preparing Emma for the ball that evening, Mary Margaret reminisces the first time her own mother prepared her for a ball, and the two are soon formally announced upon entering the ballroom. The night goes well at first, with Emma enjoying the festivities with Hook, but all goes downhill when Percival attempts to murder Regina for the pain she inflicted on him as the Evil Queen, and Robin ends up injured instead. Unable to heal Robin due to the magic used to hurt him was intended to kill Regina, the formerly Evil Queen turns to Emma for help, and despise being reluctant, not trusting her new powers, she ends up saving him. Emma proceeds to excuse herself, but not without kissing Hook first, and the vision of Rumple goads her about liking the magic, seeing as how true love's kiss didn't break the curse. She begins to realize her skin is turning scaly, and when later returning upstairs, she overhears Arthur praising the supposed savior Regina for supposedly saving Robin.

.season six.

While attempting to consummate their love, Emma and Hook are interrupted by a dirigible from the Land of Untold Stories which crashes in the woods, with Hyde, now claiming he owns the town, having brought it there. He is impervious to Emma and Regina's magic, and so a weapon is developed by Jekyll to bring him down while the dirigible's missing passengers are searched for. During this time, Emma has a strange vision of herself in a sword fight, and she has it again later when taking down Hyde with the weapon. As he's arrested, he claims to know what's going on with her hand tremors - a symptom of the visions - and so, after a talk with Archie where he states that her problems need a lot of time and hard work, she decides to get a quick fix by visiting Hyde and demanding to know what's happening to her. He tells her that if she wants answers then she need only follow the red bird, and it will lead her to one of his friends whom he brought with him. That night, while searching the woods for arrivals, Emma sees this red bird and is forced to blow off Hook in order to follow it, then discovering a girl calling herself the oracle. She explains that the visions are of Emma's future, and allows her to see herself being stabbed in the gut by her unknown opponent. At some point in the near future, Emma is going to die in battle, which Hyde later claims is the fate of all saviors. He points out that if she chooses to help the people from the Land of Untold Stories, who are now being given food and shelter, then one of them could end up being the villain who destroys her. This worries Emma, who proceeds to make things right with Hook and schedule more talks with Archie, but still she hides what's really going on in regards to her impending doom.

After Regina gives a rousing speech to the people of the Land of Untold Stories, Belle enters the diner and makes the fact that she's now awake known, as well as the fact that she seeks accommodation far from Rumple. While Hook sorts this out for her, Emma prepares to go to her first session with Archie, where she ends up confessing all about the visions she's been having about a hooded assailant who kills her in battle. Archie is curious as to why she has yet to tell her loved ones, and Emma fears that they'd tell her to stop doing what she's doing; to stop helping people, and she can't do that because then she wouldn't be the savior. Later, once it's known that her parents are being hunted by the Count of Monte Cristo, who arrived on the dirigible, Emma tries her best to drive them out of town, only to end up crashing into a protection spell that's been mysteriously put up. It's later learned that it was cast by the Evil Queen, who didn't quite die, and she forces Regina to darken herself by having her kill the Count. Emma and the others then theorize about what the Queen could have meant when she said that their untold stories will end up tearing them apart, and Emma starts to think about the visions. She returns to Archie and tells him that she wants to tell her family but can't yet because of the one person who wasn't in her vision: Regina. She worries that she might be the one in the hood, though doesn't know whether to fear her or the Evil Queen.

Henry gathers a list of new arrivals and presents them to Emma and Hook just as Ashley comes by, wanting to see if any of the arrivals have kids so that she can offer her daycare services to them. As she consults the list, Emma and Henry go and speak to a previously unseen refugee, during which time Emma sees how good Hook is with kids when he interacts with Alexandra. This makes her sad, and she goes to Archie to vent about how she's jealous of Ashley's happiness because she too is happy but she knows it's going away soon, and the visions of her future keep making her magic fail. Archie implores her not to stop living her life and to still go after what she wants, but she has little time to ponder for she's soon approached by Sean who reveals that Ashley ran off with his hunting rifle after she discovered that her wicked stepsister Clorinda is in town. Emma puts a locator spell on her shoe, tracking her with Hook and Henry, and learns that she's in fact trying to protect Clorinda after something wicked she did; she runs off, and Emma's magic fails again so she can't stop her, and then the heroes are confronted by the Evil Queen. She doesn't want Emma interfering in this story, and so she takes her "off the chess board" by teleporting she, Hook and Henry far away. Emma wonders how she'll find Ashley with no magic, and Henry consults her story in the book, leading them to the pumpkin farm where Clorinda's true love Jacob works. When they arrive, Ashley has just been stabbed by her stepmother Lady Tremaine, and Emma's magic returns just in time to save her. Amends are made between Ashley and her sister, and Tremaine is put to work on community service. Then, Emma finally decides to take Archie's advice on board and she asks Hook to move in with her, to his elation.

David makes Emma pancakes at her house right before she's set to move in with Hook for he fears that, once the pirate is living there, he won't be able to see his daughter as often. While Snow and Henry leave for school, Regina and Jekyll arrive to reveal that Hyde has escaped his cell, meaning the heroes head on over to the lab where the doctor is still trying to replicate his serum in the hopes that it will work in destroying both Hyde and the Evil Queen. The two have teamed up and are now on the prowl, and so Emma takes the electronic baton used to subdue Hyde the first time and takes to searching for the evil duo in the woods with her father. While searching, she asks David if he's really okay with her and Hook, to which he replies that as much as he hated that pirate when he first met him, as long as Emma's happy then he's happy too. The two are then confronted by Hyde, who dodges Emma's blast of lightning and sends David flying across the woods when he attempts a physical confrontation. Emma then tends to her father while Hyde escapes, but all ends badly for him when a murderous Jekyll, who tries killing Belle to get revenge against Rumple, dies... and thus Hyde dies too. Regina woefully shares that this is the only way to kill one's other half, but she is also worried about the fact that Jekyll clearly still had the capacity for evil. Emma assures her that she's stronger than Jekyll, but nonetheless Regina makes the savior promise that should she ever get out of hand, she do what it takes to stop her - the same promise Emma made Regina make in Camelot. Emma reluctantly agrees.
