About me:

Do you wish to come into the Baron's world? I warn you it is not for the faint of heart, no my world is full of magic and darkness. Once you step into my world there is no going back.

You wish to know a bit about me? I do not tell my past to strangers, you would have to know me better to find out such a thing and that is not an easy task. All you must know is that my shop can be found in the darkest places in New Orleans and is never in the same spot twice.

Those who seek me out are people who wish to see their dreams come true or their worst enemies suffer a fate worse than death, but there is always a price to pay and everyone paies it eventually.

Some call me a devil or a demon, I am neither of those things though calling me the devil is flattering at times for one like me. I am simply immortal and the most powerful of the Voodoo Priests and yes my people come from Africa originally, but we have settled here in New Orleans for many centuries now.

I am but a shadow of the past and most think me to be a legend, but I assure you that is not the case and I am very much real. Be careful what you ask for though because the harder the spell the steeper the price may be. I am said to be a Necromancer, this is true but I also control what is known as Voodoo zombies and they are simply people who's soul I have taken and are now under my control.

Come into my world if you dare and have your wildest dreams come true, but I warn you do not try to fool me or not pay me for my troubles for the price will be your very soul, hahaha.

LOS ANGELES CURIOSITIES   ||   BARON SAMEDI

Harley wasn't exactly powerful and there wasn't much mystery to the people that knew her.   A classic case in Gotham ,   but here things were different.   The woman with the dip dyed pigtails and red and black short shorts was quite the oddity.   Although it didn't make sense to many of them it made sense to her and that was just as important.   Snakes went on the defensive ,   just as much as Harley had to sometimes to defend herself or her own rationalisation.   People didn’t fear her ,   but underestimated her.   For a while now ,   she’d been out on her own ,   but that just gave her a target on her back.   It made her an easier target ,   or at least that’s what people thought.   Maybe she’d stumbled into the exact place that could help her out with that.   Full of artifacts and other pieces to give her the upper hand.

Harley tried to toe the line between the light and the dark ,   although frequently swayed between the two due to her skewed moral compass.   What she thought was right wasn’t always the best course of action.   With magic or without life was a hard game to play and magic wasn’t going to make that game any easier.   It was just likely to make it more complex ,   with a few more twists and turns as she tried to keep her balance.   She could never have been all-good ,   not like Batman   ( at least that’s what Batman and everyone else thought he was )   but she was better than the lows of her ex-boyfriend.   If the whole city was black and white ,   Harley would have been the only splash of colour because she didn’t fit that mold.   But magic was an entity that allowed anyone to sparkle in the shadows when used correctly.   It could draw people in ,   especially those that weren’t used to the phenomenon.   There was a lot of things Gotham had ,   lost scientists ,   disgraced doctors ,   billionaires who enjoyed playing dress-up ,   but magic was too mystical for such a city.

Being outside of that world ,   Harley realised there was a lot more ,   aliens and actual superheroes with powers.   Magic was the only logical thing to add to the list ,   right ??   Plus ,   Harley was a sucker for a man with a charming smile ,   they drew her in more than they probably should have.   The eyes ,   mysterious but a stark contrast to her pale blue ones that seemed to search for answers.   If there was a chance she could control magic she had to take it.   There wasn’t a lot her family ,   her blood had done for her but maybe they’d left her something to play with at least ,   a chance to control something.   He didn’t have to be seductive ,   the magic was doing that all on its own.   It’d show everyone she’d always been more than a sidekick ,   maybe even worthy of a sidekick all of her own. Yeah I wanna try an’ do that fer sures.   I ain’t sure how hard yas actually gotta work but maybe it’ll be worth somethin’.   That really would show ‘em all.

Revenge was a strong word ,   but really that was all it was ,   except she’d succeed this time.   I just wanna be more than him ,   an’ what the rest of ‘em think o’ me.   A gal like me get’s underestimated so easily.   She thought about the consequences ,   Gotham City wouldn’t have a tyrant running completely rampant ,   crime would go down ,   the city would have to spend less on property damage and could invest more into their mental health services.   Batman would have never agreed to killing Joker but that had to be the final punchline     everything had to end and it was what Gotham City needed.   I want Mista’ J gone ,   I want him to be slowly forgotten ,   that’s how you get to that guy and then maybe just maybe I want him to go ,   but not because Batman did it ,   because that’s what he wants.   I want him to know that I did it ,   one of his greatest creations becoming his undoing.   That’d really finish ‘im off.

But what would be the price of that ??   Harley didn’t know ,   but it had to be better than the suffering that constantly happened because of him ,   and all the kids the Bat had dragged in to try and help himself.   What’s the price for somethin’ like that an’ I know yas ain’t exactly talkin’ cash about it because that’d be far too easy.   Her mind flickered back to the Blood Diamond ,   diamonds always were a girl’s best friend ,   but if she wanted him to go she’d have to collect his blood and Joker didn’t bleed so easily.   I think it’s safer if I stick with yas a short while.   Someone who knows what he’s talking about makes this a little less dangerous.   I don’t wanna accidently explode half the world or somethin’.

LOS ANGELES CURIOSITIES // BARON SAMEDI

Snakes were deadly and underestimated by most like she was but that was their only common ground. They were slimy and scaly and gross. Snakes earnt respect alongside fear and even a gal as insane as Harley knew to be wary of such exploits. Unlike the rest of the world she saw the world for what it was, a facade of wannabes and try-hards who only wished they could be their true selves. It was a unique experience, sure, but Harley lived and loved every moment. The world was fascinating if people only dived beneath the surface, then a lot of people wouldn’t believe the real world even if it happened right in front of them.

She was aware of magic’s existence, but not of how it worked. It was certainly more than just a few card tricks and sleight of hand. It was beyond the physical, and unexplained and although a little dabble in the arts didn’t sound dangerous so many things could go wrong that Harley knew she was best leaving it to the experts. It wasn’t like things couldn’t be solved with a thwack to the head most of the time. There was something extravagant about the thought of magic though, and whipping a spell out probably took less effort, although maybe the last part was just wishful thinking.

The thought of being able to possess some form of magic piqued her interest.   Everyone ?? Ya sure about that ??   She knew he was but just needed the confirmation because any magical ability would be absolutely insane , and Harley loved the thought of that. An almost shocked look crossed her face as he kissed her hand but she allowed him to continue. Her nose wrinkled up before she figured out what he said to her. It wasn’t a threat, that was a good sign. Harley had no reason to keep her guard up around him.   I’m open to it.

As conversation shifted, the blonde was offered a chance at revenge, one that wouldn’t necessarily be pinpointed to her. She should have been better than that, but when the offer was right in front of her she couldn’t say no.   The Joker, he did a lotta bad things, to me an’ the rest of the city. If anyone deserves t’ pay fer what they’ve done it’s him.   Under his instruction, the female closed her eyes. She was used to listening to her heart but maybe not in such a literal way. She took two steps back, straight into one of the cabinets.   Oops, okay wrong way. Sorry.   Holding her hands out in front of her she took a few careful steps not wanting to cause any more trouble. That sounded like too big of a mess to clean up.

Within moments she felt a pull towards one item in particular. She wasn’t sure how or why but stopped in front of it. As Harley opened her eyes she saw it was a blood red diamond encased in protective glass. The red almost swirled within the diamond, but then maybe her mind was playing tricks on her.   What’s this ?? Is it anything special or do I just have an expensive taste ??

Harley didn’t like snakes. They weren’t as bad as fish, but snakes weren’t exactly her favourite. Not when they had the ability to poison you with their venom. At least with Poison Ivy Harley stood the chance of talking the redhead out of it. A snake wouldn’t listen to her! She didn’t mention his face, a smile on her own as she had seen far stranger working for Amanda Waller with King Shark and Killer Croc having previously been on squad cards. He’d be in for a shock if she was expecting her amount of respect straight up. That was earnt.

She wasn’t to comment on his eyes, there were enough things to comment on regarding her own appearance that she really had no reason to judge, although part of her was tempted to ask out of sheer curiosity. She pondered his words, did that make them magic candles? Not the technical terms of course, but candles that could be used for mystical and magical things in the right hands. Knowing her own luck she would make something explode by accident or would end up doing something else trying to make them explode.   Then I guess I should probably stay away from ‘em, until I know what I’m doing. Also implies I know what I want, or at least think I do and I ain’t gotta clue, monsieur.   She noted his slight accent, playing on it for her own amusement.

Harley felt like she had blinked and missed him move, and seemed unphased by that fact. She was used to rolling with whatever happened next but it was always cause for a joke.   Did Batsy learn that one off you?” It was more a side comment, guessing the male had never even heard of the Batman nevermind met him. The silent movement reminded her though, and the blonde’s mind was easily distracted. “I don’t need anymore love from anyone. I’m very much done with that regard. Not after everything the Joker did to me.   She hoped that would be the end of that conversation but only time would tell.   S’pose I shouldda mentioned I ain’t really a magic user, or any user fer that matter I’m just Harley, Harley Quinn.   Placing everything down, she held out her hand for a shake.   Nice t’meetcha Baron! I just wish I were more useful with what I were after…

Her gaze cast around the shop but it was almost overwhelming all the possibilities.   I was just looking around and thank you for the welcome. I don’t even know where to begin. Like I said I ain’t a magic gal with powers an’ all that, I’m just me so I guess ya could give me a tour, if you wanna?

New Orleans, if Harley had known she likely still would have stumbled across the Murder Captial - closely followed by Gotham of course. There were dark sides to every city, only just hidden beneath the surface covered by flashing lights and tourist spots. Whether it was drunks in bars and other less savoury sorts, Harley always got herself tangled up in the shadow even when it was by complete accident. She wanted a change of scenery, a vacation if you’d like and she was letting the wind run through her pigtails. Choosing streets at random to explore Harley had stumbled across the French Quarter. The blonde new her french, but her accent was...comme ci comme ca . She never realised she needed something, but the strange and unusual pulled Harley in, like a dog on a leash and a curiosity that landed her in more circumstances than it should have.

She had no idea what this shop could do for her, but it was certainly worth a chance in asking. It seemed mysterious and was a striking contrast from her scid-dipped skin, red and black hotpants, matching top and pink and blue bunches in her mostly-blonde hair. In a lot of places she’d have stood but in a place like Los Angeles where the majority of people took time out of their day to try and stand out from the crowds, Harley was left alone to explore the hustle bustle and that was the reason she tentatively pushed open the door to the shop.

Harley didn’t know if she’d imagined the little bell, or whether it had rang out but the snake was the first thing to catch her attention. She wasn’t exactly a fan of reptiles, aside from maybe her old Squad friend Killer Croc, but he was an exception. “Not exactly the exotic pet I’d go fer but everyone’s different ain’t they?” She smiled to herself before looking around again. There was a chill in the air she couldn’t explain although granted, Harley rarely put on her jacket even when it was cold. It wasn’t exactly the typical cold though. Like the air had no capability of warming up.

Picking up one of the candles at random she pretended to study it before glancing over at the male she presumed to own the place. At the start of her life, before her encounters with the Joker, Harleen would have perceived herself as quite the skeptic, but Harley Quinn had been a lot in her life and that meant that not everything could simply be taken at face value. “This ain’t a candle that’s like gonna go kabloowie on me is it? I’m just look fer a present an’ I think I want it t be a little different but not like so different that it’s gonna tkae my head up. Ruin the environment on me too much and I’ll have hell t’pay fer anyways.” What Harley hadn’t considered was the issue of burning a candle in the first place and the flame near her bestie’s plants. Ivy treated them like her own children. Still glancing at the candle, Harley spoke aloud although it was unclear whether she was talking to the candle, or to the man who owned the shop. What exactly do you do anyways?

‘Guardian Of The Darkmoon Legacy’

Mar 15th 2019 - 11:22 AM

It was strange, from the limited information that Bond had shared with Sanaya, the green hued female had expected to find someone less agreeable. Someone with a true darkness that clouded their soul. She'd not expected to find someone charming, someone wise and someone so open. The picture that had been painted of this necromancer was an unfair and biased one. Sanaya was glad that she had decided to seek Samedi out, to meet him and form her own opinions of the man.

"An extention of the spirits..." Sanaya echoed his words softly, "I can understand that, I am, after all, an extension of Gaia, in an odd way." The green hued female chose to use the Greek title for the Spirit of the Earth on the odd occasion she spoke of it. It made explaining things easier for some. "As the Guardian, the Earths Ley Lines almost act as the veins of this world, and I draw power from them." She shared the information freely, something that surprised her. She was notoriously secretive about the Leys and their true power. So little was known about the mystical lines and there was much speculation about them and their connections to various places of energy. "I was born of magic, if born is even the right word to use, though, I think you already know that, or at the very least suspect it." She smiled, she'd not been this at ease and comfortable around a stranger in a very long time.

Leaf green eyes followed Samedi's gaze as he looked upon the snake in her cage. She truly was a beauty and Sanaya could tell that there was a lot more to the serpent than met the eye. "Have you been paired for long?" She asked softly, her eyes returning to Samedi's. "Forgive me, I sense a bond between the two of you. Much like a witch and their medium, but," She tilted her head to the side thoughtfully. "I feel that your bond is much more unique and more complicated." she murmured thoughtfully, as she rose to her feet and walked over to the cage, peering curiously at the beauty within. Her scales were glossy, she was well cared for and Sanaya could tell that those scales were oiled and cared for by Samedi. "Her aura, it matches yours." Sanaya said with a smile, "She is very much in tune with you, I doubt that there is nothing that she wouldn't do for you...a faithful companion and friend."

Returning to the table, Sanaya took up her seat again, crossing her fishnet clad legs at the knee as she rested her elbows upon the table top. Reflecting on what the Baron had said about himself, that he was a being of both light and dark, the green hued female nodded her head. "I am of both light and dark. I fight for what is right," She said softly, "But, sometimes, in order to defend a darkness must be summoned." She frowned, just a little as she said the words. It bothered her at times when she had to do dark deeds to preserve this world. "It doesn't matter how old I get, how many paths I walk through my lives, the dark is always a temptation." she admitted, "The lure, it's intoxicating, fortunately, the light is just as much as a draw. Life is about scales, as is power and magic. It's all a balancing act." Her mouth tugged up in a lopsided smile as she met his eyes. "I will not lie, the thought of having a constant in this crazy circus of life is welcomed."

The thought of having a friend, someone who could understand, it was a blessing. There were so few constants in Sanaya's life. Yes, in this life she had chosen to have connections, to form friendships, but she was no fool, she knew that in time their lives would end, that she would out live them all. Yes, she had Jack, her tangerine hued demon partner, and dare she think it 'Mate', but sometimes you needed companionship that wasn't of a carnal nature...sometimes you just needed a friend; and here was this Voodoo Priest, this wielder of necromancy offering and extending the hand of friendship. "I would very much like that." she said with a smile. "We are connected, I feel it, we are Kin in a way, two souls who have walked for a long time. At the very least we are kindred Samedi, and it is an honour to be held in such an honourable position of that of friend." She bowed her head respectfully.

Sanaya arched an impressed eyebrow upon learning that the find craftsmanship of the hat came from Samedi's very hand. "That is quite the talent you've got there, as I'm sure is the case with many aspects of your life and person." She teased playfully. It was strange, she was oddly at ease around this man. Usually, the green hued female could be very guarded, especially when meeting with those of power for the first time. But oddly, with the Baron, she almost felt that she had known him a very long time. It was then she realised why, like the sun rising above a hilltop, the Guardian realised what it was about him. He too had seen much. His looks were deceptive, much like her own. Both looked young, in the prime of their lives, when in actual fact they were old...so very old.

There was a wisdom in Samedi's tone, in his eyes there had also been...a wisdom such as that could only come with time. She was under no shadow of doubt that this man had walked this earth for a lot longer than he would probably ever confess. She herself rarely admitted to 'just' how old she actually was. Few would believe it and it didn't warrant the eternal questioning that would no doubt follow such a confession. They were both old souls, both walking through time on a seemingly endless journey, and Sanaya would wager that Samedi was enjoying it.

As Samedi spoke of his Mother, she noticed both the respect and fondness in his voice. That was one of the only problems with being eternal...you out lived everyone. At times it could be a lonely path. She glanced over her shoulder at the snake as she settled within her cage, but then again, he wasn't completely on his own. With a soft smile she returned her attention back to her host. "You're Mother taught you well." She complimented, "Her wisdom has been passed down to you." She watched a smile played across his lips. He was a handsome man, something that she was sure he was well aware of, she wondered how many broken hearts were scattered throughout his past. The thought brought a soft chuckle to her lips and a green hand covered her mouth, her eyes apologetic. "Forgive me, I'm not laughing at you, my mind just wandered."

Her apology fell upon deaf ears though as it became apparent that Samedi had lost himself to his own thoughts. Wondering if his mind dwelt upon a Mother, who had no doubt long since passed, Sanaya reached out and placed a emerald hand over his dark one, her thumb rubbing gently. "Don't ever apologise for revisiting your past Samedi, it's those precious moments that keep us grounded and carve out who we become. The past may not define you, but it assisted in who you are." She smiled softly, not for the first time wondering what it must feel like to have come from somewhere. To have had parents...

As the Baron spoke with fondness for the City that was his home she smiled, she felt much the same about London, even though it was only her home for a small portion of her time. As Samedi claimed to have been one of the many who had turned brick and mortar, wood and steel into this City, she glanced to the ceiling, clearly thinking. "So, New Orleans was founded in 1718, though I'm fairly certain that they just settled on that date because the record keeping back then was a lot to be desired." She mused thoughtfully returning leaf green eyes to Samadi's, watching as his flared up like embers at his anger at someone disrespecting the spirits. He calmed swiftly though and shared what he knew about her. It was something that he didn't have to do, he could have played dumb and naive, the fact that he didn't earns him respect.

"Forgive me, I'm trying to establish a time line for you and gauge your age without directly asking." She gave him an apologetic smile. "Most would assume that you'd be a Vampire, but I know that you're not...immortal, yes, but I can't age you...and I must confess, it's perplexing, usually I can determine the age of another with no struggle."

So far she'd established that this curious man was well past his 300th year. "Forgive me, I know it's rude of me," She cringed, just a little. "But the only ones I know that surpass their 300th year are Vampires and the occasional witch." She shrugged slender shoulders. "You're a curiosity...and I have to confess, the thought of someone as charming as you having slipped under my radar for so long is...frustrating..." She frowned looking down. The frustration wasn't at her own failings, the frustration was because her life had been a lonely one, and if she had known of Samedi she could have had an acquaintance, possibly even a friend... "You're not what I expected Samedi, not what I was led to believe..." she said quietly, her eyes studying the table top intently, not trusting her isolation to not be shown in her eyes.

The cat wandered around the shop, leaf green eye inquisitive. Sanaya was always a little more curious when in a feline form. As she felt her slender body being scooped up off the ground, she turned those eyes to look into the face of the man that she sought. She could tell by the look in his eyes that he knew that she was no mere cat. As he petted her she let out a soft purr, her gaze drifting over to the serpent. The snake was loyal to her master, even loved him. That fact caused Sanaya’s eyes to twinkle with an inner smile.

As she was placed back on her four paws, upon the ground, she felt his magic flow over her. She closed her eyes, allowing his magic to roll over her and not shielding herself from it. The ruse was up, he already knew that she wasn’t a cat, so Sanaya saw no harm in his revealing her, even if it was a little impolite. As the smoke started to clear she stood before him, her green skin slightly shadowed by the dim lighting of the shop.

As he leant upon his cane, his rich accent rolling off his tongue, the green hued Guardian couldn’t help but smile. “Well aren’t you quite the charmer.” Sanaya commented as she braced her hands on the counter behind her and lifted herself up to sit beside the snakes empty cage. Fishnet encased green legs crossed as a she regarded the man before her.

As the Baron introduced himself she reached out and offered him a green hand to shake. “Enchante Baron, je m ‘appelle Sanaya du Darkmoon.” She winked at him, it was nice to use one of the many languages of this world. As he altered his appearance she shrugged her shoulders and gestured to her emerald hues skin. “Don’t alter your appearance for me, believe me when I say that there is nothing I haven’t seen.” She said, her tone light, “Unless the green bothers you. Though, I can’t imagine that a man with skin as rich as yours would be bothered by colour.” She chuckled lightly, winking an eye at him, watching as he placed the snake back in her cage.

As a table and chairs appeared amid smoke, Sanaya arched an eyebrow. “Such theatre.” She teased lightly as she slipped off the counter, smoothing the fabric of her dress as she took a seat. She frowned as she learnt that she smelt of James. “I can assure you that it’s certainly not in a sexual manner.” She replied tartly, “He is far too vanilla for my tastes.” She chuckled, watching as Samedi took the other seat. “I’ve literally come from working a case with him.” She explained, watching as the top hat was removed. “It’s not something I regularly do, my area of expertise is a little off MI6’s radar.”

She reached for the hat, flipping it over and examining the stitching. “This is a beautifully crafted hat.” She commented, her tone almost absentminded. “We had a zombie problem in London.” Her lead green eyes returned to look into Samedi’s dark brown ones. “Bond assumed that you may have been behind it, but it turned out to be an old ‘friend’ of mine. Anyway, upon hearing about you, I decided to seek you out.” She placed the hat back on the table. “You have already sensed my power, well, the portion of it that I’ve permitted you to feel. I pride myself on knowing who practices what craft in this world and you Sir, have slipped through the net, something that very few can manage.” She rested her elbows on the table top and cupped her face. “You’ve caught my curiosity, and believe me, that’s not happened in centuries.”

‘Guardian Of The Darkmoon Legacy’

Feb 14th 2019 - 1:14 PM

The green skinned Guardian stood deep within the blanket of the shadows. The darkness did a fine job of hiding her from the eyes of those going about their lives. Sanaya watched the shop intently, her leaf green eyes curious. A few years shy of having lived for two millennia, there wasn’t much the magical entity hadn’t seen, and she was no stranger to New Orleans, and she certainly wasn’t a stranger to the types of ‘craft’ that were popular here. She’d came here with a purpose....

In recent years, the Guardian had affiliated herself with MI:18, an underground branch of the British secret services, specialising in the occult, the macabre and all things that went bump in the night. There had recently been an incident with a zombie horde in London and Sanaya, along with her Partner, the tangerine hued demon, Spring Heeled Jack, had been teamed up with MI5 Agent, James Bond. He was the reason that she had travelled to this dark part of the French Quarter.

After having defeated the Zombie horde that had plagued London, Sanaya, Jack and Bond has indulged in an evening of cards and spirits, where past missions had been shared, due in part to ‘one-up-man-ship’ between Bond and Jack. When Bond had spoke of a man from his past, a man who went by the name of Baron Samedi, Sanaya has been intrigued. There were very few necromancers and true workers of Voodoo left in the world, for this Baron Samedi to not be on her radar was odd.

Sanaya has bided her time, and when the opportunity arose for her to take time from MI:18 to attend to her ‘other’ duties, the green skinned mystic had decided that it was time for her to meet with this ‘Baron’. Her travel from Britain to London had been swift, teleportation spells worked that way, especially when fuelled by the powers of the Ley Lines that Sanaya governed. Some of those Leys flowed through New Orleans and one it particular had fractured off towards the French Quarter and unsurprisingly to this shop front. It would seem that Bond’s old nemesis might actually have some true power! For his ability to draw a Ley Line to split was altogether rather impressive.

As the last customers left the shop, Sanaya vanished in a soft flash of magenta which was followed by a soft ‘pfft’ sound. When the green Guardian had stood there was now a black cat. Trotting over to the shop front, the feline slinked in though the door, just before it closed shut. The cat made it’s way around the shop, padded paws silent as she explored curiously.
