Reno was born to Douglas and his wife at the time. He is the youngest of two kids. Reno is youngest of two sons. His older brother's name is Mitch Raines. Both brothers were born and raised in Chicago.Reno grew up super close to his older brother as they hang out a lot, mostly when Mitch trained Reno Martial arts. His brother continued to train him even during the time he was in the army, so only when he as in Mitch was sent home. Otherwise Reno practiced on his own to surprise older his older brother. When one day Reno's older brother and his army his boss came over, Reno hanged up with both. As he proved himself and got an award for that. Reno was surprised by that but also proud too. He was surprised that he managed to do that.Unknown to Reno, Mitch and Mitch's boss, it would be the last time they would see Mitch and he them. Unfortunately. After that, Mitch disappeared and was pronounced missing in action, and most likely dead. As they had a funeral for him. Reno and his parents took the news rather hard. His mom became depressed and hardly walked out of her room. While Reno continued to train with fighting, while he missed his brother, whom he saw as a hero and inspiration. He had trouble moving on in life as he wished that his brother and mom were there but the mother locked herself up and his older brother was gone, as far as he knew. No one and nothing could change any of it. Reno was sure of it. As he took one day at a time. Reno joined the rangers and went on missions with the other rangers.
He even ended up turning his boss in the rangers in for being drug addict and that made the guy threaten to kill him if he ever saw him again. It happened not long after saved the guy's life. Reno blamed himself for all that happened, even if it wasn't his fault. On one of the missions the rangers Reno ended up getting hurt and taken to the hospital where he met a young woman named Jane Prescott, who took care of him. They spend a lot of time together, as they ended up becoming a couple. They were together for a quit a while until Reno got better and had to leave as he was assigned elsewhere. They decided to keep touch as they did just that. Even if they weren't exactly a couple anymore, as long distance relationship was way too complicated. Things changed however, when they ended up losing contact.
Reno eventually left the rangers and decided to follow his dad's footsteps and become a cop. Even if his dad was angry at him for it but truth be told his dad, Douglas was happy with his career choice and really proud of him, as he eventually found that out. Reno met a young woman named Val Prentice as the two got together, despite the fact that he was much older than her and her family at first didn't approve of their relationship but over time they began to accept it and were happy for them. He did however, embarrassed her sister, Debbie as he showed up with Val to Debbie's high school graduation in police uniform. Right after Reno graduated from the police academy. Which Reno didn't plan to do but it still happened. He climbed the ranks fast in the police, while his relationship with Val grew. Despite the 6 years difference between them. Reno and Val ended up moving in together.
Val didn't like the fact that he was a cop, however, as she feared that she might one day lose him. Which she told Reno that a lot. As he promised her to eventually quit the force and get a safer job than that. Which Val believed him as she knew that he meant it as he hasn't lied to her before and she doubted that he would start over sudden. Given that Reno loved Val as she loved him. He just needed time before he could leave the force for good, as it wasn't an easy thing to do. Considering the fact that it took Reno awhile to get into the police academy and graduate it, let along prove himself and go up the ranks, so it would take just as long to quit and walk away from that life. Even if Reno wanted to in order to have a safer life by her side. As he didn't want her to worry about him none stop. Nor did Reno want to have to worry about himself. Which was exactly why he agreed to walk away from the life as a cop. Reno proposed to Val as she agreed. It was when he decided to finish one last case and leave the life behind to focus on other things. Including his life with his love, Val Prentice, aka Valerie Prentice.
They both believed that he was about to leave the force and start a new life, with her by his side. Reno's dad might have hated that he wanted to quit but since it wasn't up to his dad, his dad let him do what he decided to do. Yet, he couldn't leave without finishing one last case. They both knew that Reno won't ever forgive himself if he didn't stop the rouge cops. Unknown to them things would go to hell rather fast. They had no idea that it was a bad idea to finish that case, as it was hard to find someone to trust to help stop the rogue cops. Reno and Val didn't realize that there were more rogue cops around than they actually thought. He contacted his friend, who was his ex partner before quitting the police and becoming a district attorney and told him everything he knew. Reno's friend asked to come to Bay City, California as there was someone there that he should talk to and that that cop could help them stop the rogue cops for good. Unknown to them the cop that they were going to talk to was one of the crooked cops.
They had no idea that the moment that they talked to the guy that things would end badly. Reno came with his fiance', Val Prentice to Bay City, California so that Reno could finish his last case and then he could walk away from the police force for good. His friend and ex partner in the police, who was a district attorney introduced him to the cop he suggested to him to talk to in order to stop the crooked cops for good, named Dutch Dixon. Reno and Dutch went at each other's throats rather fast as they couldn't get along no matter what. Given the fact that Dutch none stop picked holes in Reno's description of the situation and events. Reno's friend tried to stop it but with no luck. While the cop listened, he didn't seem impressed or convinced. Even if both Reno and his friend, Harry Wells tried to convinced him that it was the truth but the guy acted like there were things missing, when there wasn't. For some it was raise a red flag of danger but for some reason not to them. Then before the cop left, Reno's convinced the guy to give Reno and his girlfriend protection, as they were already in danger due to Reno coming forward with the information. The cop agreed and asked Reno for an address where he stayed at, which Reno did. Which was the dumbest idea ever but not him nor his friend realized it. When the cop Dutch Dixon left, it was only Reno and his friend, as they talked for a bit, and then Reno left back to the motel where he and Val stayed at.
Not him, nor Val nor his friend realized that the cop Reno talked about, the cop he reported released a criminal Reno arrested awhile back, in order to kill Reno. As far as he and Val were concerned they were safe. Also Reno was upset as Val helped cheer him up as she was good at that. They kissed and goofed of, as they fell off the bed while they laughed. As Val got up right as the criminal that Reno arrested, that got released burst through the door and shot Val but tried to shoot Reno but missed and hit her instead as she collapsed backwards on the bed. Reno picked his gun and shot the guy but missed as the guy ended up running off. He let him go, as he picked Val up and carried her to the hospital, terrified that he lost her for good, which unfortunately he wasn't wrong. Reno got her to the ER, as he sat in the waiting room and waited for news about her. His friend or to be exact best friend and ex partner walked in and checked on him. Then asked him to leave due to his gun been used to kill a cop and that cops would come soon to arrest him. They talked for a while as Reno wanted to hear news about his fiance', Val.
A doctor came out to them and told them, mostly Reno that Val was brain dead. That only her heart still beat on it's own. Yet, she was still alive due to the machines that she was hooked too. Which disappointed and freaked out Reno, which was no surprise as he loved her. He then fled the place to a different motel where he stayed at for the night. Reno watched the news that said that Reno was in the motel going after a crooked cop and tried to shoot the crooked cop but hit Val by accident and then shot the cop, which was a lie but unfortunately not many thought that it was fake but the opposite in fact. Unfortunately. The next day Reno met his friend, Harry Wells, who gave him his credit card to use so that he won't be found. Then they said goodbye and Reno left on his bike. He went after the guy that shot Val, instead of going on the run.
Unknown to him the same cop that framed him, sent two bounty hunters, step siblings Bobby Sixkiller and Cheyenne Phillips also known as Chey Phillips after him. Reno caught up to the guy by following the guy's little brother, as he caught the guy and dragged him away. He stole the guy's vehicle as he put his bike in it. After a while Reno hid his bike and just used a vehicle. However, as he fell a sleep he was caught by the older bounty hunter, one of the step siblings who got rid of the bullets in Reno's gun as he slept and held his own to him. Then Reno and the guy that he caught was taken to the vehicle of the bounty hunters, aka their satellite van . The older of the two bounty Hunters, as in the step brother was telling a joke as younger of the two, aka Chey drew the vehicle back to Bay City, California where the two guys were wanted. During the ride back Reno ended up knocking out the other guy, who was caught with him, as the guy was next to him and annoyed him. Then again that guy annoyed everyone and not only him. On the way back they even stopped for the night. As Chey got food for both guys but sat to talk to Reno mostly. Which was before he knocked the guy out for annoying him. The next day as they got back into the vehicle, satellite Van is when Reno ended up knocking out the guy for annoying him.
Also it seemed that the older bounty hunter was about to do something about the guy but Reno beat him to it. When he saw the bounty Hunter's reaction he just said "he was annoying and figured he needed a nap time," which the bounty hunter just let it be, as he didn't really care about that at all. Given that the guy was a pain in the behind to them all. Then sometime later Reno asked about a bathroom as the bounty hunter told him that there was no bathroom where they were. As Reno asked what should he do then as the younger bounty hunter, Chey parked. He used it to flee from them, as he kicked the guy, Bobby and fled. They just let it be as they got back to the satellite van and continued heading back as they figured that they had lost him. Reno run to where he left his bike as he took it. Just as the satellite van was attacked by the guy's gang. The gang that Reno took the guy from. The gang beat up the guy bounty hunter, aka Bobby but kidnapped the younger bounty hunter, a female and the step sister of Bobby's. Reno could fled and let it be but it wasn't like him, so naturally he didn't.
Reno saved Bobby and then together they saved Chey. As Reno headed to the gang's camp and rescued Chey. Then he went to wear Bobby as he let Bobby knock the guys, as he helped when needed. Then the bounty hunters brought the gang leader to jail as they got paid for catching him. As Bobby shared the cash with his bounty hunter sister, Chey and with Reno. Yet, Reno asked for the money to be sent to the hospital to pay his fiance's hospital bills as Bobby agreed with that. Then they agreed to work together as bounty hunters as Reno needed help with getting the needed information about the bounties he caught and someone was needed to take those to jail as he couldn't. Which officially made them partners. Since Reno saved the step siblings, it made them all become friends, the bestest friends to be exact.
They talked for a bit and then Reno left the two. Since that moment his life changed, as he was no longer alone, as he had people who cared for him and helped him. Granted, Reno had his ex partner and best friend, who was a district attorney on his side who helped him at times but that wasn't enough nor as helpful as he would have liked but with the step siblings who were bounty hunters on his side, that was better and safer, as well as much more helpful. Which he was truly grateful for. No matter what.
Reno finally felt that since he became framed for a crime he had never committed, that he had finally had a chance to one day clear his name. Even if he had no idea when would it happen but the plus side was that he had hope and something to look forward too. That Reno didn't use to have before that. Yet, instead of only focusing on that or just focusing on it, however, he took a day at a time and worked with the two, as he hoped to one day go after the one who framed him and clear his name. While he worked as a bounty hunter with two others, to keep streets clean from crime as much as possible as he used to but this time as a bounty hunter and not a cop.
