when there ain't a crack in the foundation. baby, I know any storm we're facing. will blow right over while we stay put, the house don't fall when the bones are good. call it dumb luck, but baby, you and I, can't even mess it up, although we both try. no, it don't always go the way we planned it.
Jennifer Brooks McCoy.
we're in the homestretch of the hard times we took a hard left
but we're alright life sure can try to put love through it we built this right, nothing's ever gonna move it
Jennifer Brooks McCoy was born on April 30, 1988 in Chatsworth, Georgia but moved with her single mother to Tennessee soon after her birth; where she grew up. Her mother was a lawyer who had a one night stand with one of the MC boys, and when she realized she was pregnant, she fled in order to keep her daughter from the violence. Jenny grew up comfortable with a loving mother and no knowledge of her father. She joined the Police Academy, which is where she met Whitney and Wade and became friends. She served with the local PD until one day she got a call that her mother was in a car accident and was in critical condition. Her mother told her the truth of where her family came from before passing away. Once Jenny put her mother to rest, she went back to her mama's home town, transferring to the same station Whitney worked at, rekindling their friendship.
Athena felt her whole body relax as she moved to the music. She couldn't remember the last time she had been on a dance floor. Hell, she could barely remember the last time she danced. She shook her head to the beat, a wide smile playing on her lips. "We needed this," she laughed over the music. She took a sip of her drink as she smiled to Kaitlyn.
Her eyes shifted to Viv behind the bar who was pointing to a fight beginning to take place in the corner. “Hold this,” Athena said before taking a drink of her beer and gave Kaitlyn the bottle. She walked over to the corner of the bar and grabbed the two women by the backs of their hair and dragged them out of the bar. “Pick another f***ing place to have this petty bullsh*t. You come back in my bar; you better have it worked out!” She snapped on them for killing her buzz.
When the blonde punched Athena, she let out a low growl. “Big f***ing mistake,” she said before she began beating on the woman. The other apologizing and backing away from the situation. When Athena felt the arm on her shoulder, she thought it was the other woman coming back. She landed a hard-right hook. One that she instantly regretted when she saw that it was Jenny standing there.
“Oh my God,” she said putting her hands up in the air. “I am so sorry Jenny. Totally my bad,” she said as her face twisted. “So, you’re drinking on me tonight.” She said looking at the woman’s lip. “And maybe some ice for that lip. I swear, I didn’t know it was you. I thought …” she sighed. “Yeah, I know. I f***ed up again,” she said shaking her head before retrieving a cigarette from the pack in her back pocket and lit it.
