Mattie Hawkins was born to Joe Hawkins and Laura Hawkins his wife. She is the oldest of 3 kids. 2 Girls and one boy. The youngest of Mattie's siblings is her sister, Sophie Hawkis. Her brother's name is Toby Hawkins. Mattie always helped her parents with raising her youngest siblings. She is close to her parents but the closest she is to her sister and her mom, than her dad as well as her brother. Mattie like her family were born in England. Their lives weren't perfect but it was relatively normal for a change. Until one day things for them changed permanantly. However, she found out about it some days later, while her family found out about it some days after her. One day Mattie's dad came home with a lige sized Robot, a synth. It was meant to improve their lives he said to them. Not realizing how right he was. The synth/Robot name was Anita or so they were led to believe. Unknown to them the Synth/robot had originally a different identity until she was stolen and reprogrammed. The Synth/robot original name was Mia but when she first was brought into their home they had no clue.
Anita was a good help, especially with Mattie's little sister Sophie. Yet, Mattie and her mom didn't really trust her but not for completely the same reasons. She thought for a while that there was something wrong with the Synth/Robot, Anita. Especially when the original conscious showed herself and tried to ask for help. Which at first it was Maddie who noticed as well as heard. As Mattie found a strange code on Anita, and posted it on a site, forum. She hoped togind someone who understood what was going on. A guy named Leo answered her ad. Mattie had no idea if she coulf trust him, especially as she knew how dangerous it was to meet someone in person after a short talk online. However, she was curious so she agreed to meet the guy but described herself as a big guy, and what not, something she really wasn't. As Mattie wanted to know who the person was and if he was dangerous or not. Mattie agreed only to meet in a public place. She came to the meeting just like she promised. However, when the guy she talked to came into the diner where they agreed to meet, she sat in a booth right the two and listened to the two talk, when they were but a buth in front of her.
Mattie mocked them from her booth about being stood up, but the two weren't sure if they were not but tried to make it seem like the person would come. As they even talked about the desription of the person that the teo guys were there to meet. Mattie commented to that saying thay they should never trust anyone that they meet online. Which got the two guys to realize that it was her that they were there to meet, so moved from their booth to hers, to talk to her. Mattie decided that she had enough with them and tried to leace but Leo didn't let her. She pretended to need to the bathroom, so Leo agreed but as long as she left them something of herself so that they know that she would come back. So she gave them a small bag to hold on to, which she pretended was hers. Then Mattie snack out. By the time they found out that it wasn't her bag and returned it, she was gone. She wasn't sure that ahe could trust either guy.
However, when Mattie over heard her parents talk about Anita while she was on the phone with Leo, as they ended up yalking about Anita and how she could be Mia. When he suggested to meet again she wasn't sure but after she over heard her parents she changed her mind, and agreed to help him reunite with someone dear to him, and in that way help his friend reunite with someone he cared for, which was the same Synthetic/Robot. As soon as Mattie and Leo both hangee up she left her room, as she went down stairs fast. Then waited for Anita to pass as she made sure to take away the laundry that Anita held and put it away, then dragged Anita out the door past her own parents who were confuse. Mattie got Anita into the car, once she got the keys. Then Mattie got into the car herself and took off to where she agreed to meet with Leo. Leo and the one with him waited for her as planned, as they tried to get Mia out, while they tried to erase Anita persona. Right aa soon as Mattie parked and got out of the car with Anita, then walked in with her. However, unfortunately it didn't work. Which frustrated them all. Mattie offered to try but Leo just yelled at her, as he asked her that way what she could do that he couldn't, and then he kicked her with Anita out, as they left.
She was angry at him for that, but left with Anita, anyway. Mattie went home with Anita as she wondered how to get Anita persona to disappear and the real persona, Mia to show up. She wondered if perhaps sge got things wrong. Not long after that on the car ride, Anita began to act up and the Mia persona showed up and startled both Mattie and her mom. As they parked the car and walked out, as Anita/Mia came out too. She tried to convince Mattie to tell Leo that she really was there, but not in her head. Mattie'a mother, Laura wanted to call the cops but Mattie made her listen. Mattie's mom was shocked as she believed it was wrong and shouldn't happen. The Synthetics, robots shouldn't be able to think or anything but she eventually accepted, as Anita petsona came back and told them that she detecred the problem and erased but it didn't happen at all. They eventually went home. Mattie convinced her mom that she knows the original owner of Anita, originally known as Mia, as her mom agreed for her to call the person but her dad refused but then let it be as Mattie called Leo as she told him everything she could as she got him to come with the one with him. Before that she found out that Leo's friend and companion waa Max, a synty, Robot like Anita/Mia. She also found out that Leo was a hybrid, half human and half robot, one of a kind, as she found him hurt and took him with Max back to where the guys stayed, as she watched Leo recharge, and she even saw his lige on the big screen, as Max convinced him to tell her but instead of telling her he choose to show her. Which surprised her but she never told a soul a out it. The day that he came, she helped him, as they bonded more. Even if Mattie's dad didn't approve of that at all.
Mattie and Leo almost kissed but it didn't happen, not at that time at least. Once Mia was back the group hugged as they looked at Mattie and her family. Leo didn't want to go but felt like he had to, which unfortunately he did, by then they found another Synthetic, robot named Hester. It broke his and Mattie's heart but it was what had to be. After they left Mattie had trouble with it, despite tue fact that she was told by her mother that she had to move. She refused to, no matter what. She wanted Leo back in her life at all cost but she had trouble finding him or the others. Yet, she never gave up, until she finally did, as she got what she needed and headed to meet up with him. Her parents had no idea about it as Mattie made sure of it as they wanted her to move on. When she go to the location she had trouble until he came out from behind a tree and spoke to her. Which was exactluy what Mattie needed to know where exactly he was. She right away turned to look at him. They were both truly glad to see each other, even if he acted like it was as friends but for her it was more than that but he had no clue at the time about it. Leo just walked out from behind the tree as he led her to where he and the others were at, as they talked among themselves on their way there.
Mattie was relieved that Leo and the others were alright. She thought or at least hoped that things between her and Leo would change. While he thought that Mattie wanted friendship, as he accepted that, even if it upset him. She was glad that he agreed to meet and take her to see the others, to help them with anything they needed help with. Mattie had no idea what would happen. Anita who finally was Mia again, officially was glad to see her, and such like Leo but not Hester. The other synth, robot didn't like her or seeing her. As she was jealous of her, and Mattie had no idea as to why or what was up with her. As Leo took her to where the others were at. Mattie was terrified, horrified and unsure what to think about it. As they were on a hill that showed the building they planned to infiltrate. They wanted her to either help or leave, as she stayed. Not sure what to do as Mattie agreed to stay and help but she wasn't too sure of the plan as it was too risky. Before the plan, she was left alone with Hester who was rather rude to her. Who mocked Mattie and told that she had no place with them. Yet Mattie still stayed. Unfortunately the plan backfired, and one of the Synthetics, robots, Esther was hurt in the process. Mattie helped get her back to the hideout and helped take care of her. Also she didn't like her. Mattie got even more hurt when she saw Leo and Hester hold hands, so Hester was dying. By then he told her once that he was happy that she was there but she wasn't sure that she any longer felt that way. At one point when Mattie was alone with Hester was when she told her that she slept with Leo, which hurt Mattie as she walked out and talked to Leo, who was glad to see her. As he thought that both Mattie and Hester were fine with each other as he told them that the other was just a friend.
Leo tried to talk to Mattie and let feel welcome with him, Mia, Hester and Max but it no longer worked. As she considered leaving but he handed her a water bottle and she ended up deciding to stay but wanted to stay far from Leo, as she walked inside, which hurt Leo, as well as confused him. Not that Mattie cared as she was hurt. Mattie did tell him eventually that Hester spoke a lot and that she told her everything, as she hinted to him about the fact that she knew he and Hester slept together and that Hester told her about it and other hurtful things, which shocked and confused Leo. Mattie left eventually, right after Hester actually got well as they managed to save her. Hester was glad but Leo and Mia watched her disappointed. As they hoped that she would stay with them. Also Mattie didn't leave in the end but stayed with them but Hester left. Only for them to find out that she was with the Hawkins family, and about to kill Laura, Mattie's mom.
Mattie wanted to go and save her mom, but Leo refused. He loved her as much as she loved him, even if he wouldn't admit to that yet. So it was agreed that Mattie would come with but not go in, as Leo was going to but Mia was supposed to be away or she would shut down too. However, things turned south rather fast as Leo walked inside. Hester only attacked him and told him that he didn't deserve the synthetics and cut his neck to take it out in hopes of killing him. Mattie eas terrified as she heard yhe whole thing. Mia walked in to help, despite being told not to as she was almost killed until she got how to shut Hester down from Mattie but she ended up shutting herself down too. So Mattie was asked to use her code to wake up all synthetics, robots as she did, even if she was scared to do it but she had no choice. Leo unfortunately was put in a coma that way. As Mia woke up fine and back to herself, just slightly more woken than before. They got Leo out and to safety. As Mattie graduated high school and went to college, but visited him whenever it was possible.
Leo was in a coma for a year and a half, as they were all worried about, except the other woken up synthetics,robots who woke up while he was in a coma, who had no idea about him, as he was different so Niska, Mia, Max and Mattie kept him a secre with one of the newer synthetics, robots in their family, as they had no idea that they trusted the leader of a rouge Synthetics. One that caused chaos while Leo was in a coma. A group that made humanity hate their kind even more, if that was even possible. A groyp that Max, leader of the syntheyics, robots tried to stop. He let Mattie in to check on Leo in secret as he stopped the other synthetics from hurting her or Leo. Mattie's mom was a lawyer for the Synthetics by that time. Despite the risks she and her family still supported the synthetics. No matter what. As one of the synthetics, robots was hurt Max had no choice so he gave Leo up to save a synthetic he dated. Even if he hated doing it as it was their only hope. Matyie argued but she lost that argument and with that Leo's life was on the line. As Mia came back from where she temporary went to and checked on Leo. As she saw Leo not connected to Machines and Mattie with him, she asked about the reason as Mattie told him. Mia confronted Max about it as helped saved Leo before he died, which was a miracle, as the other synth ended up dying. Not long after Leo came to, he and Mattie was sent away because of the delicate situation in the hideout and him being human again or so they thought but it was more complex than that. One other synth who knew about Leo and Mattie helped them leave before the other synthetics found out about them there, as they headed to Mattie's and her family's home.
