History

Natasha Yar was born December 1st 2337 on Turkana IV. By the time she was born her planet had been a war zone for many years. Her mother had been a Starfleet Captian. Captain Sarah Marshall had been on Turkana IV with her crew, slowly trying to integrate change into the civil war stricken planet. She herself had been rescued from the planet as a young girl and wanted to return to try and help her failing world. She and her crew's attempts were unsuccessful. Another ship was sent to Turkana IV to find the crew and their Captain. During an away mission Jean Luc Picard was serving as a first officer at the time came in contact with Captain Marshall, unaware who she was. The two had a very brief love affair, Picard tried to pursue Sarah to come back with him, and leave the planet but she refused. Almost eleven months later Starfleet made one more rescue mission, it collected the bodies of the dead crew and their Captain and left. Upon physical examinations of the dead bodies, there had been evidence that Captain Sarah Marshall had given birth. There was no way to find the child, it was presumed dead. The father being Jean Luc had no knowledge that his child was living on such a planet. Natasha was that child. Natasha had been kidnapped by her mother's sister Melina Yar. She was aware her sister was once again on the planet and murdered her. Natasha was kept simply as a bargaining chip. As the child of a Starfleet Captain, they thought one day she might come in handy to trade or to sell. They thought if the Federation was one day made aware of her existence they'd try to rescue her. Most on the planet despised the Federation for not stepping in to help end the turmoil on the planet.

Natasha grew up in a very violent and chaotic world. Poverty was everywhere and her parents did not provide even the most basic of needs. Natasha suffered physical abuse from her adoptive father, who she believed to be her real father. She had no knowledge of her mother or her murder. Natasha's adoptive father abused both her and her mother, life was miserable and got no better when at the age of five her sister Ishara was born. Most of the responsibility of caring for the infant fell on Natasha.

When Ishara was two years old, Natasha was seven she overheard one night her parents talking. One of the factions on her planet was willing to arrange a better life for her parents and Ishara in return for her. They planned to sell her so that they could possibly have a better life. This hurt Natasha and angered her, she knew all the terrible things that could happen to her if her parents sold her. Out of fear and anger, she murdered them both. After the murderers, Natasha was distraught thinking she had just murdered her parents, despite how awful they were. After the murders, young Natasha planned to kill herself. But then she was confronted with her younger sister Ishara. Natasha's young mind rationalized she had killed for survival and that to kill herself and leave her younger sister to die would have defeated that purpose.

For years Natasha raised herself and Ishara, it was a miserable existence. Always scrounging for food, water, safety. The factions were always on the hunt to rescue children but what was worse than them was the rouge rape gangs. Natasha always managed to stay one step ahead of the gangs and fiercely protected her younger sister feeling it was her duty since she was the reason their parents were not alive to do so.

When Natasha was fifteen another Starfleet crew had happened upon Turkana IV and an away team began to search the planet for anyone who wanted to leave. Jean Luc had hoped to find the girl he had met so many years ago, unaware she had been a Starfleet Captain. Though he did not find her he found someone who resembled her in the most striking way, Natasha. He offered Natasha safety to come aboard the starship he was serving on. With her appearance, he had his suspicions that she might be the child of the woman he had known so many years ago. Before leaving Natasha pleaded with Ishara to leave with her. But Ishara refused, she was joining one of the factions and found Natasha a traitor and coward for wanting to leave.

Natasha could not take her life on Turkana IV anymore, she felt she had done all she could for Ishara. Natasha left with Jean Luc. She was a very violent and frightened young girl. Once aboard the starship, she refused medical attention, refused anyone who came near her except for Jean Luc. She trusted him and no one else.

Jean Luc began to suspect that perhaps he had left the woman he had met nearly fifteen years ago pregnant and after a very private DNA test he had the proof he needed, Natasha was his child. But he was in no way ready or prepared to be a father. Within a few weeks, he'd be taking over another starship, this time one he'd be in command of. Rather than tell Natasha who he was he left her with some trusted friends of his, this foster family did not last long and soon Natasha left for Starfleet Academy. She felt since Starfleet had been her rescuers she owed it to them to become an officer.

Natasha was very bright, a quick learner. Once she knew the basics of how to read and write and calculate mathematics she quickly passed her exams and was in Starfleet Academy. Again Tasha did not fit in well, though she did make a few friends while at the Academy. Friends like Geordi La Forge, a Klingon named Worf, and in her last year a half-betazoid named Deanna. Unknown to her at the time later in her career she'd be aboard the starship Enterprise with some of her dearest friends.

Present Day

Natasha Yar currently serves aboard the starship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D). She is the ship's chief of security and a senior officer among the crew. Aboard the ship, she lives with her partner Lieutenant Commander Data. Together they share two children. Another android named Lal, built by Data. And a biological child named Adam. Among the crew, Tasha has many close friends, most of which are considered family in her eyes, Captain Picard actually being her father.

Personality

Tasha can be a bit abrasive, very bold, and very blunt with her words and how she feels. However, she can also be extremely loving, caring, and compassionate. The majority of the time she is fearless and her bravery has been documented in many situations. And though her current post is that of a security officer she has shown talents in other aspects. She has a certain knowledge of medical practices both conventional and unconventional. She also has a particular knack for cybernetics having learned enough so that she could help and maintain her partner Data who is an android.

Powers and Abilities

Tasha is very skilled in hand to hand combat. Despite only being a human she is quite strong, has a high tolerance for pain. She is skilled in Aikido, a human form of self-defense. Though she can be a strong brought she is also witty and clever and due to her chaotic upbringing can be quite manipulative if needed. Her physical appearance and beauty is deceiving to those who try to challenge her. Underestimating her and giving her the upper hand.

Tasha is also a very skilled mother to her two children. An android named Lal and a human child named Adam. Lal was the daughter of her partner, Adam was her own biological child she had with her partner Data, an android. Unlike Lal who is fully android, Adam is a human child but with android like qualities. Like Data he has yellow eyes and a paler tone of skin, but like Tasha, he has dirty blonde hair and by Earth, standers would be considered at a genius level of intelligence. Despite her own upbringing and the lack of knowing how to mother she has successfully mothered her two children as well as served as a mother figure to the son of her most trusted and best friend Lieutenant Worf.

Dr. Benjamin Thrace

Dec 16th 2022 - 2:24 PM

Ben raced hurriedly to the docking bay of Starbase 48, hoping he hadn't missed his shuttle. It wasn't often that Starfleet called upon him to serve in a search and rescue mission, but of course when called, he answered. Benjamin was a doctor, a researcher, a man very much used to doing things at his own pace. He loved to get lost in the minutiae of the subject, work his way through it. He also loved that Starfleet allowed him to do this in his own way, and that seemed to yield fantastic results in his opinion. He'd hoped after being selected to head up a new research and development facility near Beta Stromgren he would finally be free the paramilitary beaurocracy that he felt plagued the rest of the Fleet. Yet here he was racing to some shuttle craft to be paired with another officer off to find and hopefully save yet another individual.

Still, even as he raced on he wondered at that. True he was a medical doctor, but since much of his work lent itself more to the theoretical than the practical, he couldn't fathom his usefulness on this mission. Starfleet was littered with doctors, all more capable and practiced than he. Were they going to some bizarre, exotic locale heretofor unseen by anyone else? Was this lost soul some strange new alien life form Starfleet had only recently contacted and they needed an exobiologist with multiple degrees to assess the entity? Ben hoped it was some kind of combination of both. As much as he loved research, there was a little bit of the adventurer in him as well and sometimes he needed to satisfy that curiosity just as much as any other.

Finally  making it to his shuttle's designated launch pad, he keyed his access code and entered just as the doors parted for him. Inside was another officer, already at work on the controls. Sighing to steady himself, he spoke.

"Doctor Benjamin Thrace, here at last!" He introduced himself with a smile.

Captain's Log:
A woman appeared on board the Enterprise claiming to be a Starfleet Officer. Further investigation is underway. Kirk out.
Future - Present - Past
Captain Kirk
Spock looked at her confused when she said he was young. Jim was also confused because she had refused to his long time friend and boyfriend as Admiral. He let it slip and led her off the bridge. Her questions and concerns were flying out of her and not one of them was missed by him. He was listening but part of him was off in his own mind thinking of what had caused this or how this was possible. He couldn't even begin to understand future technology and he honestly didn't want to. He wanted to help her get back to her time. To her family.

He slid his finger across the pad on the wall and the door opened. "We will figure this out and do our best to answer any questions you might have." He said as he placed a hand on her shoulder to try and comfort her. His blue gaze turned to Spock. Who still seemed to be contemplating the fact that he was an Admiral in her time. Then he looked back at Tasha. "Lieutenant?" He asked and motioned for her to enter the room. "Spock, could you get McCoy? I need him to give our guest a look. Just to make sure that she isn't hurt." Spock nodded and turned on his heel walking away from them.

"Now!" He said clapping his hands together and entering the room, finding his chair and settling down in it. He motioned for her to sit in any of the others and then clicked his computer. "Scotty? I need you in conference room two. Step on it." He ordered. The Scottish native popped over the speaker and Jim rolled his eyes as he argued why it would be a bad idea for him to leave right that second. "Scotty just get up here. Now." He ordered and turned it off. "So you said, that you were getting on the transporter pad. The red alert sounded and you ended up on my bridge?" He asked and linked his fingers as he leaned on the table looking at her.

The whole thing sounded absolutely crazy but more asinine things had happened in his time on the ship. So it wasn't impossible. "Scotty is the one who made the equation so he should have a bit of a clue how this happened." He didn't say it confidently though. Honestly he wasn't sure the equation or their transporter pad was the cause of this phenomenon. "If not then we are back to square one. Don't worry though. We will do everything we can to get you home safely." He meant it too. He was all about saving his crew or people in general at that. Spock had chastised him for it many times in the past. 'The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one.' He hated that saying.

Jim rolled his eyes as Spock once again scolded him for his reckless behavior. "Captain, you must not break from regulation again. They will eventually as you humans say, bring down the hammer?" Jim laughed at his attempt at human slang. "I'll be fine, Spock. Starfleet command hasn't brought it down on our heads. They have basically given us a sort of get off free card." He smiled. Spock gave him a confused look as the elevator opened and they stepped onto the bridge. "Captain on the bridge!" Jim wasn't exactly sure who had shouted it this time but honestly, he didn't care. He just wanted to get back to work and forget all about the scolding before Spock hit him with the next one.

"Take us out Mr. Sulu." He glanced back at Spock who he could feel looking at him and then turned back to watch as they jumped to warp speed, taking them back out into space. Jim lived for this. He loved flying and being out in space. However there was a part of him that wondered if maybe, he should put up his hat and give up the Captain rank. The alarm blared loudly around them and Jim instantly stood just as the woman appeared on the bridge before them. Everyone was at the ready with their phasers pointed at the intruder. They had only just discovered how to transport to other ships while at warp speed and it was still limited to a few ships. Not to mention the fact that this woman was wearing a very odd outfit.

Shouting could be heard all around him from his crew as they instructed her to remain still and squaked about an intruder on their ship as if he couldn't see her standing there right in front of him. "Enough!" He shouted and everyone grew silent. The woman spoke of being a Starfleet officer and Jim looked back at Spock once more as if asking if he believed or even thought it was possible for this woman to be an officer. Spock moved up to stand next to him. "It seems highly unlikely that she is in fact an officer of Starfleet Captain." Jim nodded and turned to the woman.

He lowered his hand for everyone to know he wanted them to lower their weapons but still be ready should the woman decide to attack. "Okay, if you are who you say you are, then we will get your id and prove it. Just know that if you plan on attacking anyone on this bridge, you won't succeed." He glanced at the bag the woman had and then to Spock once more. The Vulcan nodded and made his way to her bag getting the ID in question. He scanned over it and looked at Jim. "She is in fact a Starfleet officer, however it would seem not yet. According to her ID, she hasn't even been born yet, captain." He made his way back to Jim and handed him the ID.

Jim glanced over it and scrunched his brows. It wasn't uncommon for people from the future to appear. It had happened with Ambassador Spock but for it to happen like this? That didn't set well with James. "It would seem we have a lot to discuss, Lieutenant." He looked to Sulu. "You're on the coms. Spock, you are with me. Lieutenant? Follow me." He added and then headed towards their conference room. Maybe they could discover what the hell was going on or why she had been transported onto their ship.

Dr. Leonard McCoy sighs, letting the PADD fall from his hands, the device hitting his desk with an annoyed ‘thump’. Starfleet has been breathing down his neck for this particular report and quite frankly, he’s not sure he can finish it. They already have their investigative reports, can’t that be enough? No, no of course it can’t. Because it’s not every day one of their doctors defies the laws of man, nature, and god himself for the sake of his Captain. They’ll wait as long as they need to.

He rubs his hands roughly over his face. It was stupid. So stupid of him. But he couldn’t just let Jim die. He’s lost people before; hell, he’s lost a lot of people. But Jim? He couldn’t bear to have that one on his conscience. The worst part? It was Starfleet’s goddamn fault. What were they thinking, waking up an Augment? Waking up that augment? If Khan was right about one thing, it’s that they should have let him sleep. A whole hell of a lot of hurt could have been saved. For everyone.

But that’s not really the worst part, is it? McCoy could have done something, instead of standing by the wayside. He’d recognized him immediately, of course. Khan’s face isn’t one a person forgets, even over the course of centuries. But no, he just stood by the wayside, like always. Because he’s a doctor, nothing else. It isn’t his story, never has been. He’s spent so much time running from what he is. But then… Jim. Jim.

“Scotty to sickbay, medical attention is needed in the transporter room. Got a young lass here sporting some egregious burns…”

It snaps him out of his head immediately and he’s already halfway out of his chair before he hits the comm. So much for down time. “On my way, Mr. Scott. McCoy out.”

He grabs a burn kit and his tricorder, rushing out towards the transporter room. If he didn’t need a reason to distrust the damn things before, this certainly isn’t helping their case. It’s always something with the transporters. He’s always said that no good can come from repeatedly scrambling one’s atoms, and hell if he isn’t proven right time and time again. But what does he know, he’s just a doctor. Benefits outweighing the risks, or so he’s been told. Complete and utter horse hockey if you ask him.

Entering the transporter room, he shoos the security guards aside, tricorder in hand. He kneels at the woman’s side, putting a hand carefully on her shoulder to keep her from standing. The uniform is wholly unfamiliar, but it does bear the Starfleet insignia. In the moment, that’s more than enough for him. He starts his scan, eyes flickering from her face to his readings. “Calm down. We’ll get ya taken care of, alright?” his tone isn’t harsh, but to the point. He sits the tricorder down and readies a burn spray. “Burns are superficial and seem to be affectin’ exposed skin only… you’ll live. Close your eyes n’ lemme see your hands.” He sprays a thin mist over her hands and on her face. It’ll help the pain and start the healing processes. “We’re gonna take you to sickbay. Dermal regenerator’ll fix ya right up. I can also give ya a mild painkiller… any allergies or previous reactions?”

Yes, he has a reputation of jabbing people with hypos without warning and at his discretion; but that’s generally only to people whose medical charts he has committed to memory. Like one certain starship Captain who’s allergic to damn near everything. He holds a supporting arm out to the stranger, ignoring the uneasy security around them; the one at the communication console looking warily over his shoulder, an ID card in his hands. Not McCoy’s fault they didn’t relieve her of her phaser sooner. He’s a doctor with a job to do.

He very carefully pulls her arm over his shoulders for support, guiding her to her feet, his eyes on her face and watching every little expression. If she’s in too much pain, he’ll call for a gurney. “Scotty, alert sickbay. Tell ‘em we’re on our way and to have a biobed ready.”

“Aye, sir.”
