Virgos are always paying attention to the smallest details and their deep sense of humanity makes them one of the most careful signs of the zodiac. Their methodical approach to life ensures that nothing is left to chance, and although they are often tender, their heart might be closed for the outer world. This is a sign often misunderstood, not because they lack the ability to express, but because they won’t accept their feelings as valid, true, or even relevant when opposed to reason. The symbolism behind the name speaks well of their nature, born with a feeling they are experiencing everything for the first time. Virgo is an Earth sign, fitting perfectly between Taurus and Capricorn. This will lead to a strong character, but one that prefers conservative, well-organized things and a lot of practicality in their everyday life. These individuals have an organized life, and even when they let go to chaos, their goals and dreams still have strictly defined borders in their mind. Constantly worried that they missed a detail that will be impossible to fix, they can get stuck in details, becoming overly critical and concerned about matters that nobody else seems to care much about.

Isla Rose Rossi was born and raised in a small suburb just outside of Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were great (at first) and soon enough her little sister was born 9 years later. She had everything she wanted and life was good. However, as soon as she hit the fourth grade, things took a turn for the worse. Her mother started to become more vile every day. Her father filed for a divorce and moved out. This started a custody battle that would last well over 12 years.
Isla's mother would physically, mentally, and verbally abuse her daily. Her father was made out to be the enemy, even though she knew that he was the only good parent she had. However, her mom fought hard to keep her away from him. Her grade school years were tough as she was always made fun of. She was the quiet little redhead who kept to herself and that made her a target. High school wasn't much better... Her mother's abuse escalated as the years went on and so she turned to drinking to cope with her issues. Everything was piling on top of her, and for a sixteen year old it was too much to handle. Her mother began drinking and going out nonstop, leaving Isla to raise her younger sister as well. She was counting down the days until her 18th birthday because she knew she couldn't live with that woman any longer.
Her mother had always told her if she got a tattoo, she'd be kicked out of the house; so that's exactly what Isla did. Isla got a small tattoo on her hip the day she turned 18 and that was the last time she had to live with her mother. However, it wasn't the last time she'd have to deal with her abuse and drama. During her senior year of high school she met a boy and his family took her in. She was soo in love with him and thought it was meant to be. He was in the Army so they had to get married at only 19 years old if they wanted to be together. He got stationed in Texas and she bought a wedding dress. She ran away with him and thought her life would be smooth sailing after that but she was so wrong.
Isla fell in love with Texas. She enjoyed exploring this new area and learning to be totally on her own with her husband. However, he also started to become a very toxic and abusive person. It started with him sleeping around and lying... then it soon turned physical. He shoved her down stairs, he grabbed her arm way too hard, he screamed in her face. Isla gave up everything she knew for this man and he turned around and treated her like nothing. She was broken. She was thousands of miles away from home. She was lost. Her nights were filled with tears and worry. How was she going to return home and face everyone if she got a divorce after only a year?
Luckily her husband was discharged for an injury and they got to move home. She arranged to rent a house from a relative so that it would be in her name. After only a month of being home, she served her husband divorce papers and changed the locks. Of course, an abuser doesn't give up that easy. He was dumb enough to hit her once more and she placed a restraining order against him. Isla was hoping this would be the end of that drama, but she noticed being back in Chicago only brought her anxiety. She couldn't live near her mother, who had also started texting her horrible things randomly. She had to find a way to get out of this state, and fast.
Isla moved to Illinois State University and started working towards her degree in meteorology. She had a passion for weather since it was something her father and her had in common. They even used to go storm chasing together when she was little. It wasn't a totally different state, but it was better than Chicago. It at least put some distance between her and her crazy family. Getting her degree took longer than she had planned since she also had to work and support herself, but it was totally worth it. Soon enough she was able to apply to news stations all over the country and Baltimore was calling her name.
Baltimore was a breath of fresh air for her. No one knew her past. No one knew her mother or ex. It was nice to have a clean slate.
